  • Ios7 parental controls password reset

How do I iOS 7 parental controls password reset or view?

I found this on the web and helped me edit an file and reset it to a passcode I could remember. These instructions are for more advance people with some understanding of programming and remember you do this at your own risk. Please don't blame me or anyone else for "bricking" iPhone or iPad if you do it wrong. Here are the instructions:
    Download iBackupBot
    Connect iPhone/iPod/iPad via USB
    Backup device to iTunes
Close iTunes (leave your device plugged in to your computer)
Open iBackupBot - this will open all device backups that it can find
Select your backup from the left column
Sort right hand pane by Path and locate "Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist" (there may be two files named this; try them both) and double-click to open
Extracted it (and only it) to the desktop. Do this by Checkmark the file, then select the Extract Icon (or File - Export menu), then select the checkbox that says only that file and the other checkbox that says something about Info about the file. Two files will appear on your desktop - one ending in plist and the other ending in .info.
Edit com.apple.springboard.plist with you favourite plist editor (e.g. Xcode)
Look for and change the string for "SBParentalControlsFailedAttempts" to 0
    Add in<key>SBParentalControlsPIN</key> <string>1234</string>
    after
    <dict> <key>countryCode</key> <string>us</string> </dict>
Save your changes, and return to iBackupBot
Import the modified plist. It is now in the backup!
    Exit iBackupBot
Open iTunes and use Restore Backup to your device
After restore is done and phone restarts the password should be 1234.

  • How do I recover a forgotten parental control password on ipod touch

how can I recover a forgotten parental control password for ipod touch 4?

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes. For how to restore: iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    You have to either:
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

    to proceed, issue:
    LSNRCTL> set password
    Password: <your password>
you should be able to run lsnrctl status after this
    br,
mrakBut beware that starting with 10g, the listener uses the same os authentication as sqlplus, so if your OS account is a member of the dba group, you will be able to run lsnrctl without supplying a password, even if the listener is password protected. So while the above error is proof of password protection, lack of the above error is is not necessarily proof of non-password protection.

  • Does upgrading to iOS 4.2 reset the Parent Control password?

A month or two ago, I updated my son's iPod Touch 3G from version 4.1 to version 4.2 via my computer (not his).
Sometime later, I discovered that my son had set the Parent Control password to something completely different, and all of the parent controls had been turned off.
My son claims that the update had reset the password, and he set it to a different password, which he did give to me when I discovered the change. (I won't go into his excuse for setting a new password.)
I am suspicious. I have not found any evidence on the web of parent controls being reset by an upgrade, and I think it would be poor design to have an upgrade reset the parent control password.
So, if you upgrade an iPod Touch on a computer which is not its primary computer, does the password and parent control settings get reset?
    Further info:
When upgrading his iPod Touch, I did not sync it to my computer. After the upgrade, all his settings (Mail, apps, etc.) were still working. I have my own iPod Touch that I do sync to my computer, and it has no parent control settings enabled, nor a parental control password. I keep my iPod Touch at version 3.1.3, for development purposes. I'm running 10.6.5, iTunes 10.
Please answer only if you know (e.g., you've tested this) or if you have a conjecture as to why this might indeed happen. I'm not in the mood for any parenting lessons.
    Thanks!
    Henry

You are absolutely correct. A simply update to the latest version of iOS will not restore the device to factory settings. If you did the update yourself, at the end of the installation you would have been presented with an option to restore from backup or setup as a new device. Of course you would have chosen to restore from backup because you say that all email and apps were exactly as before. The restrictions are carried over exactly as before when you restore from backup, including the restrictions passcode and any settings you had selected.
The only conclusion (if the sequence above is correct) that can be made is that someone intentionally restored the device to factory settings after the upgrade and then setup a new restrictions passcode.
Having said that, these statements in your description are contradicting each other:
    - I updated my son's iPod Touch 3G from version 4.1 to version 4.2 via my computer (not his).
    - When upgrading his iPod Touch, I did not sync it to my computer
How exactly the upgrade happened could tell you if you made a simple mistake or if he or someone else intentionally restored the device.

  • Listener.ora password problems

After a recent IT audit we've been told to set up a listener password for our Oracle 9R2 database on VMS. I tried but got a few error messages when entering the save_config command e.g
    TNS-12570
    TNS-12560
    TNS-00530
It turns out that we use something called host naming to connect to our database, meaning that although we have a listener.ora file it is empty (or contains only a blank line.) I suspect this is why the password saving is not working. Can anyone shed any light on how to resolve this.

Try using the netmgr to resolve the issues, this will allow you to configure the listener file via a GUI and set the password.

  • Parental Controls, Passwords, & Administrative Users

I am thinking of buying a couple MacBooks for my teenage kids. I'm pleased to see that Apple has finally added usable Parental Controls, particularly the website tracking feature. (Teenagers need to be able to go anywhere but also to realize that someone is at least potentially looking over their shoulder.) But my kids also need to be able to run updates and otherwise install software on their machines. In Leopard can I give them administrative privileges without allowing them to turn off Parental Controls? I assume this could be implemented either through a super-adminstrator account (I always establish a 'master' as well as an 'administrator' account, in addition to individual accounts, when setting up a family computer) or through a separate password established by whoever first sets up Parental Controls. (The latter approach would probably be better, for the same reason that an administrator should not have access to a user's documents.) But I can't find anything online that indicates exactly who can access and modify Parental Controls under OS 10.5. Thanks.

    Hi--
After looking in a few places I have to say that your problem an interesting one.
There are some options that are useful for your problem:
The first being applications; no, there is not a way for them to 'install' applications into the 'Applications' folder without administrative privileges, however they can install them into their own 'User' directory so long as those applications are not dependent on certain admin privileges.
Installing applications mean that they would have power to install other web browsers etc that wouldn't be logged by Parent Controls, so this is the trade off of needing your assistance in that matter. If you are with your children most days then things like Updates can be added when you are aware of them as well.
If however you're more interested in monitoring your children's activity without them knowing then you may be out of luck for now, because no matter what they need that Admin login to do system updates or add applications to the applications folder, so they're going to know they aren't in control of their computers completely.
    Hope that helps somewhat,
    [J]

  • Retaining listening channel password after server restart

    Hi,
I have configured b2b email listening channel & everytime i restart the soa server, the password is blank.
Is there a way to retain/store the password after server restart?
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    Hi Anuj,
I faced the problem with PS2 and now with PS3 also.
For me in listening channel, it does not store the password & during server startup, it tries to connect to email server & fails with invalid password or some error like that.
I am going to raise a SR today & will see how that goes.
    Thanks

    Hi kingwm,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What email account are you using?  In Mavericks, if you look in your Applications folder, in a subfolder called Utilities, you will find the Keychain Access application.
The main keychain is called the "login keychain" and it is the one created for your main User account.  Select the passwords category on the left, and look for your mail application.  Double-click on the mail application and click in the "Show password" box.  You'll have to enter your User admin password (the one you use when you turn the computer on) to see the password.
If this doesn't resolve your issue, you may need to go to your email service provider's website, reset your email password and then update the settings in both computers and any iOS devices you have.

  • Which OD attribute controls password expiration?

    Hi all,
Firstly, please bear with me - my knowledge of the OD and LDAP schemas is very limited.
I am using a plugin on my wordpress site to authenticate my users agains LDAP.  The authentication works a charm however, the plugin also has the ability to track password expairation and allow users to chage expired passwords.  To do this I need to provide it with the LDAP attribute which controlls password exparation date ( or a combination of when the password was last set and the number of days until it expires).
I have looked through the OD admin guide from the apple website but cannot find the appropiate attribute (or I don't know what I'm looking for).
Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Cheers

    Hi,
maybe you can get clue in the apple.schema definitions
You can find schemas into the folder : /etc/openldap/schema/
    for passwords:
    line 132:
    attributetype (
            1.3.6.1.4.1.63.1000.1.1.1.1.18
            NAME 'apple-user-passwordpolicy'
            DESC 'password policy options'
            EQUALITY caseExactMatch
            SUBSTR caseExactSubstringsMatch
            SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15 SINGLE-VALUE )
    in Line 952 for objectless apple-preset-user :
    shadowLastChange $
    shadowExpire $
By the way I'm afraid is very difficult to integrate a password change routine due to security proprietary implementation in the OS.
Perhaps a good workaround could be to use or draw on existing password change web frontend like the osx wiki service's one.
