Live streaming of FLV content

We have an embedded system (embedded video server), running an RTOS. There are welldefined ways for streaming stored FLV content. There are ways for streaming live FLV content using Adobe Flash Media Server. However, in our case we would like to implement streaming ourselves on our embedded video server, ideally using UDP transport (instead of HTTP or RTMP)  So what are the options available ?

You may be able to figure out the streams used from the FMS server that is installed with the Connect Application Server, if you are on premise. But for the hosted environment, I'm not aware of a method of exposing that information. Even if you do expose it, it would be the stream URLs for the individual objects in the room (live video, screen sharing, etc.). You may wan to look at using an AMS server or Influxis Collaboration Services (previously Live Cycle Collaboration Services), http://ics.influxis.com/, to have a the stream delivered to a custom player.

  • After live stream is completed. Steps to make it available as VOD content?

    I'll be streaming different events about every 2hrs in a single night. After each live event is completed,  what steps need to be done to make each finished live event available as VOD? Do I need to package all the individual segment file into a single .flv file?
    Thanks!

    Also, if your requirement is just about making content available after live streams are over, you can look for DVR functionality in your manifest.xml and set the values of begin and end offsets as 0 and 0.
    So my manifest file would like this:
    livepkgr/_definist_/liveevent/liveevent.f4m
    <manifest xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/f4m/2.0">
      <baseURL>http://myserver/hds-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/</baseURL>
      <dvrInfo beginOffset="0" endOffset="0"/>
      <media href="liveevent1.f4m" bitrate="282"/>
      <media href="liveevent2.f4m" bitrate="482"/>
      <media href="liveevent3.f4m" bitrate="832"/>
    </manifest>
    Or do I still need to have and use this file:
    livepkgr/_definist_/liveevent/Manifest.xml
    <manifest xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/f4m/1.0">
      <dvrInfo beginOffset="0" endOffset="0"/>
      <media streamId="liveevent1" bitrate="282" />
      <media streamId="liveevent2" bitrate="482" />
      <media streamId="liveevent3" bitrate="832" />
    </manifest>
    For a MBR live event should my 'livepkgr/_definist_/liveevent/' directory contain the following files
         liveevent.f4m, liveevent.m3u8, Event.xml and Manifest.xml
    OR JUST
         liveevent.f4m, liveevent.m3u8, Event.xml
    Thanks again for all the assistance in getting started!

  • Issues while watching content after live streaming operation

    Hi,
    1)We have performed a live streaming of an event using Azure Media Services , we streamed the entire event

    entire event.
    Can you let me know what might be the issue?
    2)We performed a live streaming of an event in 2 parts using azure media services. After 2 hours we stopped the streaming of 1st part and deleted the channel for 1st part and we started streaming of another part by creating another channel . We are unable to
    view the 1st part through content url while we are able to view the 2nd part through content url?
    Can you let me know what might be the issue?

    The fan is speeding up to cool the GPU. The GPU (graphic's chip) heats up because video's and game's work the GPU much harder than normal desktop activities.
    When was the last time you checked and cleaned the air intake grill on the bottom of your iMac?
    I shutdown (stopping the fans), disconnect the power and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work on my Mac's a couple of times a year to keep them running cool.

  • Flv and live streaming

    I am unable to play flv applications and live streaming on my nokia lumia 520, why?

    Hi, Saqib213. The .flv video file format is not supported by the Lumia 520. For the list of supported file formats, please check this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/mobile/phone/lumia520/specifications/. Alternatively, you can check the Store for any applications that offers .flv playback functionality.
    As for your live streaming concern, where are you trying to stream? Are you using an app or via a website? Is there any error message? You can only watch live streams through websites that supports the HTML5 & Silverlight, as these are the supported technologies for WP8 devices.

  • Playback of low bitrate flv or f4v from live stream in FMS causes player buffer to empty

    We are experiencing a consistent issue when playing a low bitrate (300kbps or less) flv in a live stream from FMS.  Basically, the player will will start off with the appropriate buffer, say 5 seconds, then begin dropping until it empties out, and will have to rebuffer.  We've tried with a variety of flv and f4v files, all that are 300kbps or less, and we consistently get the issue.  Is this something Adobe can investigate in FMS?  Or are there any suggestions on how we can get around the issue?

  • Loop a short flv before the live stream begins

    Hi,
    Using FMS 3.02 and FME 2.5 is it possible to run a looping
    flv that the clients can see, before the live stream begins, and
    when the live stream finishes, an exit flv video plays?
    cheers

    Besides, can I draw data from DataBase (say, MS SQL Server) on server side? Can server-side ActionScript do this?

  • Add an Intro FLV before live stream starts

    Hi,
    I have a console that has a main VideoDisplay that will
    broadcast a live stream.
    I'm using FME 2.5 with FMS 3.02.
    What I would like to have the ability to run a looping FLV in
    the VideoDisplay until the Live stream begins which will then cut
    in.
    I know this may be a FMS 3.02 config, but any advise would be
    appreciated...
    If it is also possible to play an Exit FLV when the live
    stream stops..that would be a bonus....
    Cheers

    Hi Macnimation,
    The tutorial is helpful only if you are using some Flash Authoring tools to write your playback client (which is playing back the video from the FMS at your side). In that case, inside your client code, there must be a NetStream object ns, and a statement like ns.play(filename, 0, -1), where filename is the name of your final video which you have created by combining the various videos you want to play.
    So to create a playlist (as described in the tutorial), you need to modify the ns.play() statement. If your video files are named A.flv, B.flv, and so on, while the short intro video is named X.flv, you can write the following sequence of statements to create  a playlist:
    ns.play("X", 0, -1, true);
    ns.play("A", 0, -1, false);
    ns.play("X", 0, -1, false);
    ns.play("B", 0, -1, false);
    The last parameter (true/false) is the reset parameter. For the first time, it is true, to indicate that reset the play and start playing stream X immediately. For the following statements, it is false, indicating that play the stream A after the previous stream (i.e. x) is completed.
    Thanks.

  • Configure Live streaming  FLV Encodering -- Adobe -- End user

    Hello,
    WHile looking on the web, there are no clear cut instructions on how to configure adobe media server fro live streaming.
    What I would like to do is take a streaming coming from alive  flv streaming source. Have adobe media server configured to allow users to connect to the media manager and watch the live stream.
    Could someone provide directions on this?
    Thank you,

  • Can I publish static content to Live stream

    I have a requirement of publishing static content like video files mentioned in a playlist to be published to a live stream. It is like creating a TV station with pre-recorded content but with live stream. It will great  if anyone let me know is it possible with FMS?

    Yes its very much possible.
    What you need to do is place all your files on server and play it via server-side stream. You can go through FMS documentation and you should be able to get it work. However i will tell you briefly here how to go about it.
    Create an application folder , under applications directory of FMS. Let us name it as "test". Create a folder called "streams" under "test" and then under "streams" create "room" folder. So structure would be as follows : <FMS installation directory>/applications/streams/room. Now place all your static content here , say you place one.mp4,two.mp4,three.mp4.
    Now you want to give effect of live stream.
    Create a file called main.asc under "test" folder.
    Write below code in main.asc:
    var mylivestream;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
         mylivestream = Stream.get("mp4:livestream.mp4");
         mylivestream.play("mp4:one.mp4",0,-1,true);
         mylivestream.play("mp4:two.mp4",0,-1,false);
         mylivestream.play("mp4:three.mp4",0,-1,false);
    Above code would play all three static content one after other. Subscriber client would have to subscribe in following manner:
    ns.play("mp4:livestream.mp4",-1,-1)
    Please note that above code is sample code and not the most optimal or correct and will need tweaking depending on what is your requirement.
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to send live streaming content over my WiFi from Firefox

    I just wish to know if this is possible and if there is a tutorial on this subject. I would rather use Firefox instead of Google Chrome and Chromecast.

    Do you mean live-streaming on websites like YouTube, because that can be done on ''any'' browser, including Firefox. The video quality all comes down to your internet speed, though.

  • Live Stream Pre-Recorded FLV File

    Hi I'm using FME 2.5 to stream a web cam feed (to Akamai).
    Has anyone ever used this set-up (or something similar) to deliver
    a pre-recorded video file? Basically, I'd like to use a file as the
    video input device.

    Normally, only a device which appears as a video camera
    driver will be supported for live streaming. That includes USB web
    cams and firewire cameras.
    However when using programs like MSN or Yahoo chat, many
    users have successfully used "virtual camera driver" software,
    which supplies images from a file source, but appears to the system
    to be a physical (camera) device.
    So for example, without making a specific recommendation,
    "Broadcaster StudioPRO" appears to be one such virtual camera
    driver :
    http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/webpublish/fwwebcam.html
    Probably the best approach is to hunt on (insert favourite
    search engine) for the search term above, in conjunction with "MSN
    messenger" or "Yahoo messenger" to restrict the search
    results.

  • Recording H.264 Live Stream on the Server

    I have seen several questions which were close to what I am looking for, but haven't found an answer that worked. I work at a school, and we use a NewTek TriCaster to stream live events through FMS 3.5, which I am hoping to upgrade to AMS 5 to allow HLS. We have been streaming a single H.264 encoded feed through the server as a live stream which works well. They have recently asked if it is possible to archive that recording on the server. I was able to get everything to work correctly when I switched to using the VP6 codec, but as long as we were streaming with H.264, I could not get the server to record it correctly. Here's what I have tried:
    This code works for the VP6, but the H.264 doesn't record the video:
    application.onPublish = function (clientObj, streamObj)
         var s = new Stream("archive");
         s.record();
         s.play(streamObj.name);
    This worked and created an flv file, but caused a few other issues due to the encoding of the VP6 and having to re-encode the video to H.264 before putting the file online.
    Based on suggestions I was reading, I tried this with the H.264 stream:
    application.onPublish = function (clientObj, streamObj)
         var s = new Stream("mp4:archive.f4v");
         s.record();
         s.play(streamObj.name);
    This created an f4v file, but I could not play it. When I tried to open it in Adobe Media Encoder, it gave an error that it did not support the compression type.
    Thanks.

    You should use a H.264 compitable encoder..
    FMS only delivery content, player only player the stream..
    Flix Engine, from On2, have the H.264 encoder..

  • Using netStream.time on rtmp live stream (broadcaster!=receiver)

    I am trying to synchronize a live stream (which is
    broadcasted from the flash player plugin) with some scripted
    actions. The problem is, that the displayed frames of the rtmp
    stream do not correlate to the netStream.time property on the
    receiver side. In fact, i do not understand at all, how the
    property is rendered on the receiver, since i can not recognize any
    dependencies to e.g. bufferLength.
    Does anybody now, how it is calculated? I tried with Red5 and
    Wowza and they seem to behave similar. I guess, FMS would not make
    any difference (if so: lease let me know!), since i assume that the
    property is rendered during the encoding process i.e. by the
    plugin.

    Hello Jay,
    thank you for your answer! NetStream.send() seems to be at
    least a possibility to solve my problem with a workaround.
    I just want to synchronize the time information of the up-
    and downstream: both should have the same time information when
    they show the same visual content (which i called "frame" in the
    former post).
    What i would suppose the netstream.time to be is that if i
    shake my camera on upstream.time=10.0 then downstream.time should
    equal 10.0 when this camera shaking is played back. This is the
    behaviour that i am used to from streaming prerecorded FLVs. But
    with live streams things work out diffferently.
    In fact my downstream.time is bigger than upstream.time. And
    i can not imagine how this can be. If i streamed up for let's say
    20 seconds and i start the downstream after about 10 seconds, i
    would expect my downstream.time to start with 10 seconds and then
    increase continually. But against this, my downstream.time starts
    with something above 20. How can this be? Or back to my initial
    question: how is the downstream.time rendered?
    This behaviour seems not to be dependent on the
    downstream.bufferTime.
    With netStream.send() i could send the upstream.time
    information via the upstream to render an offset for
    downstream.time on receiver side. This should work (have to check
    it), but is a workaround, no "clean" solution.

  • HLS Live Streaming / LivePkgr issues

    Greetings!
    We just began using AMS for live streaming with HLS and we encouter some serious issues. Our first commercial live event is scheduled to next Wednesday and we cannot afford to lose our customer so your help is greatly appreciated.
    We have two issues which are probably related :
    When we start streaming all goes well for the first couple minutes but passed that point the stream gets less fluid. In the video player you can see a pause - dropped frames? - then the stream resumes fines. Then after say 30 seconds another pause and so on. If we stream for long enough the player finally goes black and the stream cannot be resumed.
    We experience some random AMS service shutdown every other day or so. The server just stops streaming for an unkown reason. Please have a look at our edge log below. Looks like we have some recuring "bind failed" errors but I have no idea if they are related.
    Again your help is greatly appreciated. On a side note we would be happy to purchase per-incident support from Adobe to solve the issue asap but it looks it's not available anymore. Anybody from the staff feel free to PM me about it.

    Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
    If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
