LMS 4.2.1 restore question.

Dears,
I  need your help in verifing the restore command for LMS 4.2.1 in windows server:
the command: C:\Program files (86)\CSCOpx\bin} perl.exe backup.pl -d C:\bkp
where the bkp is the backup folder?
Kindly confirm if this is correct as i need to resotre the Folder which located in the C: .
Regards,
Muhannad

Hi Mahavir,
Many thanks for the response, the Restore procedure worked fine using the commands but i have faced a new issue after the restore, the issue as below:
The new LMS server is still not installed in the network and we are planning to use it as a cold backup server in case we face any failure in the primary server, before the restore, i used to login to the new server using the IE with URL: http://localhost:1741 but after restoring the database, i am unable to login with the same URL and because the server is not connected to the NW, i am unable to login now at all.
I am wondering what is wrong and shall i connect it to the Network to be able to login via the WEB using its hostname or IP.
P.S: the new server has identical Hostname and IP of the active LMS server to keep the sync of the database easier when i move the database.

Muhannad

  • Backup/restore questions LMS 4.2

    Hello,
I have several questions regarding data migration from LMS 3.2.1 to LMS 4.2.We will perform backup and restore procedure on new LMS4.2 server machine .
    1. I am wondering what will happen with admin password aftrer restore, and all the other passwords in LMS. What will be effective? What will happen with database passwords?
    2. Other thing is : LMS 3.2.1 is installed on D:\ProgramFiles\CSCOpx and the new LMS 4.2.1 is installed in D:\CSCOpx
Will there be problems during restore, because the paths on old and new LMS server are not the same?
    3. When to perform the licensing?  Should I apply license before restore? I think I would have to apply it before beacause customer has 300 devices and eval license iz for 100 only.
    4. Does PI_CM license - Compliance  Management License comes with the product? How do we get this license? I am aware that this CAAM is new feature in 4.2 version so I am not sure does the customer have rights on it. They have bought upgrade from 3.2 to 4.1 and they have valid support contract so we will go to 4.2 version.
    Thanks!
    Marija

    Following are the answers :
    1. LMS's user info and passwords are stored in cwpass file under NMSROOT\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\cmf\servlet, which is also
backed up with DB backup. Hence restore would bring all previous user names and passwords.
    2. Ciscoworks has a mechanism which doesn't bothers the install directory. It sets environment variable as NMSROOT which is replaced by
the install directory and hence there should not be any issue. Please note that Inter-OS resotre are not supported.
    3. You can apply the license anytime, but it is good to install it before backup restore, else the excess of devices, more than 100
will go to unmanaged state and will have to be brought back to managed state once lic is applied.
    4. CAAM lic has to be purchased separately. You can contact lic. team or your accounts team for this.Till that time you can use it with its 60 days eval lic.

  • ISE 1.2 backup restore questions

    Hi all,
I have been looking at the backup and restore procedure for ISE deployments and have to say I have found the documentation to be somewhat confusing in general. Whilst I get the gist of it I have found numerous areas that are grey. This question is the first of many but here we go.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-2/user_guide/ise_user_guide/ise_backup.html#pgfId-1073378
Based on that link to restore a failed primary admin node I am left wondering about the state of the licensing. In a deployment that has the licensing configured to utilise the UDIs of the primary and secondary node what happens after you have rebuilt the primary from the ground up?
As far as I am aware when you run up a new node the UDI changes meaning that the license detail is no longer correct - how does this affect the rebuilt node becoming primary again and do you have to rehost the license to reflect the new UDI?

Another question I have is about the restoration of monitoring data to a primary monitoring node that has temporarily failed. As per documentation it states that a manual backup should be taken from the secondary node and restored to the primary to essentially provide the missing events during the outage. I have a couple of questions about this process:
    1. What happens when the primary monitoring comes back online - does it sync up with the secondary monitoring node effectively overwriting the events the secondary has or does it just continue on its merry way?
    2. To restore data to the primary monitoring node do you need to de-register the primary before restoring the backup taken from the secondary and re-join it to the deployment or do you just restore from the primary admin GUI? As far as I can see this still means that there will be a hole in the data for the period of time it takes to restore from backup.

  • Exchange Server 2013 backup and restoration question

    Good afternoon
I am wondering if I can pick people's brains here if that's not too much trouble.
I have recently implemented an Exchange 2013 environment with 3 servers (two multi-role CAS & MBX physical machines, and one further virtual CAS server). Everything is working correctly and mail-flow is fine. My question relates to backup and restoration
procedures. I am running a single Database Availability group with the two multi-role servers members of the this group and I have one Mailbox Database on the DAG, passive on one member and active on the other. Failover has been tested and this is functioning
    as expected.
The backup environment I have implemented is as follows. I have utilized a separate Microsoft DPM 2012 server that runs a nightly Bare Metal backup on both multi-role servers with a retention range of 14 days and I have protected the DAG using DPM with a
nightly full-express backup and 4 hourly syncs on one of the multi-role servers. Furthermore the Mailbox Database is protected, again nightly with a copy-backup.
I am confident I know what to do should the mailbox database become corrupted or lost or need to be restored for one reason or another (it would just be a case of restoring the backed up mailbox database using DPM to a pre-created recovery database), what
I am not quite so sure on is what I would do should I lose one or both of the multi-role CAS and MBX servers (the third CAS I am not so worried about as it is not used for incoming mail flow from the internet and we really only use it for ECP as we did not
want to expose this to the internet). I wonder what process should follow to restore my Exchange servers (I know how to perform the Bare Metal recoveries using WSB) and what configuration would be required after restoring the Bare Metal backups.
I know this is a reasonably long question but if anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly in the unlikely event something goes horribly wrong with my Exchange environment.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Yes, Most of the configuration settings are stored in AD. Mail data and personal related data are store in Mailbox DB. We just need to take consideration of these two points.

  • DB2 restore question

    Hi!
Due to a unwanted batch input job we need to restore a R/3 system from prod to a sandbox system to have a reference system.
I have created a restore script with the brdb6brt tool to  do a redirected restore, and it is currently creating table spaces in the database.
We are running on AIX v5.2 and DB2 v8 FP 11.
We have a full DB backup on disk and incremental backups on a networker managed tape library.
    My question is:
If you restore with the parameter "incremental", is it possible to mark the DB as restored and start the rollforward process without applying the incremental backups on tape?
The documentation for DB2 leaves some space for interpretation, and I don't have the time to do wrong for this 1.4 TB DB.
Here are the examples from the documentation:
    "Notes:
After successful completion of step 1, and before completing step 3, the restore operation can be aborted by issuing:
       db2 restore db mydb abort
After successful completion of step 3, and before issuing all the required commands in step 4, the restore operation can be aborted by issuing:
db2 restore db mydb incremental abort "
Will any of these commands abort the restore so  I need to restart the restore, or just exit the restore procedure so I can continue with rollforward.
    BR Morten

    Hi!
I will answer this post myself.
First read contetn in link: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/admin/t0006070.htm
    In addition:
Here the description of the command parameters for the restore:
    CONTINUE
Specifies that the containers have been redefined, and that the
final step in a redirected restore operation should be performed.
    ABORT
    This parameter:
Stops a redirected restore operation. This is useful when an
error has occurred that requires one or more steps to be
repeated. After RESTORE DATABASE with the ABORT option has
been issued, each step of a redirected restore operation must
be repeated, including RESTORE DATABASE with the REDIRECT
    option.
Terminates an incremental restore operation before completion.
Therefore if you allready have issued the "RETSTORE DATABASE NBP
CONTINUE" without any error, then the restore is finished.
You cannot do a continue manually because you are in another session
then the script (Therefore you get the SQL2008N).

  • LMS 3.0.1 upgrade questions

    Hi...
We have the following system freshly installed
    LMS 3.0.1 dec 2007 update
    CW Common Services 3.1.1
    Campus Manager 5.0.2
    Cisco View 6.1.7
    CW Assistant 1.0.1
    DFM 3.0.2
    IPM 4.0.1
    Integration Utility 1.7.1
    LMS Portal 1.0.1
    RME 4.1.1
    HUM 1.0.0 (Eval)
We have bought the software just over 1 year ago. The System is used on a private WAN that has no internet connectivity, so all updates have to be manually installed. I have the following questions,
1- I am able to use our CCO login to download device updates, but there are a lot. Are the latest device updates, MDFs inclusive of all the previous ones or I have to download each one separately?
2- Will my current License allow me free upgrade to LMS 3.1 or higher in order to avoid many incremental updates? The product description on the license claim certificate is LMS 3.0 Devise Restricted Upgrade for LMS 2.5.x, 2.6
3- Can I directly upgrade from Campus Manager 5.0.2 to 5.0.5?
    All help is appreciated

Michel correctly answered regarding the LMS 3.2 being able to use your 3.0 license file. I did this same thing myself.
Regarding the updates, they are cumulative. If you install the latest version, it will roll up the earlier ones. The Common services MDF update is a key one - you'll need to install that first before most of the RME updates will successfully install.
Be sure to check your logs after each install. CW won't necesarily highlight an install failure due to a dependency not having been met (although it says it will alert you).
Also, I've been finding it necessary to restart the server after package updates. The auto-restart process is kicking off but when daemon manager restarts, it's not starting up Apache. Doing a subsequent manual daemon manager restart isn't doing the trick either. I may open a new thread on that issue....

  • LMS 3.2 credentials/username question

I recently installed the trial version of LMS 3.2 on a single server (10.1.1.1).  Now my head is spinning over what credentials i'm using vs authorization to modify a routers config vs device config. etc etc.
I've added a bunch of devices, but I cannot configure any devices via LMS.
I added a user called lmsuser to my routers/swiches.
I added the loggin 10.1.1.1 comment to my routers/switches.
I added read and write community ("readstring" and "writestring" strings to my routers/switches).
    Question
    1) I currently log into the portal using username: admin.  Is this used anywhere other than getting into the portal?
    2) I created a credential set called "firstset" with a user called lmsuser and readstring and writestring community strings.  Do I need to do something to associate "firstset" with each device in the DCR?
    3) When configuring RME credentials, do I use the the IP 10.1.1.1?
    4) In cisco view I see views of my devices.  When I right click on a switch interface and select "disable" I end up with an error message about not having permission to make the change.  What secret handshake is required to make this happen?
I feel like I'm just not connecting the dots here.  Thanks in advance.

    1. No.  These credentials are only used to access LMS applications (the portal, command line, etc.).  They are not used to communicate with devices.
    2. It depends on how you are adding devices to LMS.  Each way (manual add, Discovery, import) allow you to choose a credential set, or use an automatic credential set.  If you choose automatic, then a credential set will be applied to your devices based on the rules you have defined.  Note: credential sets are only automatically applied when a device is added to DCR.  You can choose to manually apply credential sets later, but if you modify a credential set after a device is added to DCR, those changes will not automatically be applied to your existing devices.
    3. I don't understand.  This is the IP of the LMS server.  I'm not to sure what "RME credentials" you are referring, but I can't imagine where you would add 10.1.1.1 with any credentials.
    4. You need an SNMP read-write credential (e.g. community string) configured for the device in DCR (i.e. under Common Services > Device and Credentials > Device Management).

  • Using Lenovo's Enhanced Backup & Restore Questions

    Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has any experience in using Lenovo's Enhanced Backup & Restore.
My situation is that I am thinking of updating the firmware on my MyDigitalSSD 128GB mSATA SSD to the latest version. However, from what I read, the update will wipe the mSATA SSD. Also, at the moment, I have been backing up my C:\ to an external HDD weekly using Lenovo's Enhanced Backup & Restore software.
My question is if my steps below are workable and if the Enhanced Backup & Restore program will restore my system back to the latest backup?
    1. Use Enhanced Backup & Restore program to backup the latest image of my system.
    2. Update firmware on my mSATA SSD. All data will be wiped.
    3. Use my Recovery Discs to restore the mSATA SSD to Lenovo's factory image.
    4. Use Enhanced Backup & Restore program to restore the latest image.
Any comments, anyone? Thanks in advance!

You can only restore to the same hub, as the serial numbers have to match.

  • LMS 4.2 Performance report question

Hello, I got some questions about Performace Reports, more specifically "Interface utilization".
If I use the Report -> Performance -> Interface -> Utilization and select one device it generates a report with 3 Interfaces, Fa0/4, Gi0/2 and Fa0 from that device.
    The device Interface status is:
    Fa0/1          connected          trunk          a-full          a-100          10/100BaseTX
    Fa0/2          connected          trunk          a-full          a-100          10/100BaseTX
    Fa0/3          disabled          1          auto          auto          10/100BaseTX
    Fa0/4          connected          trunk          full          100          10/100BaseTX
    Fa0/5          disabled          1          auto          auto          10/100BaseTX
all interfaces in between are disabled also
    Fa0/24          disabled          1          auto          auto          10/100BaseTX
    Gi0/1          connected          trunk          full          1000          1000BaseLX
    Gi0/2          connected          trunk          a-full          a-1000          10/100/1000BaseTX
    Fa0          connected          routed          a-full          a-100          10/100BaseTX
The logical (for me) would be that all connected interfaces (Fa0/1,Fa0/2,Fa0/4,Gi0/1,Gi0/2,Fa0) would be included in the report.
    To the qeustions:
How can I make all connected interfaces appear in the report?
Is there any way to make a report on for a specific interface, say Fa0/1?

Hi, I forwarded this question to the support and got some info which might be useful.
To force LMS to poll specific interfaces, go to Monitor > Performance Settings > Setup > Pollers and create your own poller with the devices or interfaces you want to have polled.
To generate a report of one or more specific interfaces, you first make a poller for those Intrfacesand then make a custom report which uses that poller.

  • LMS RME Compliance Mgtm - Template Question

    Hello
I have LMS 3.2 on Windows. I have a question about compliance template. How I can describe unknown values in template? For example: I have routers with 2 - 3 syslog server (on each router they are different) and I want remove all of them and add new.
    Regards,
    Stanislav Kuchma

I have syslog 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 (and in routers config i have several "bad" syslog with "random" addresses):
    If i wrote:
    +   logging   10.0.0.1
    +   logging   10.0.0.2
    -   logging  [#?!(10\.0\.0\.1)#]
RME tries remove all syslog servers ("good" and "bad")
    If i wrote:
    +   logging   10.0.0.1
    +   logging   10.0.0.2
    -   logging  [#(?!10\.0\.0\.1)#]
RME says ok and don't remove "bad" servers

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 - some questions

    Hello community,
I would like to ask some questions about CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1.
We are using for a few days, and I can't set some request in the system. I hope someone could help me to customize the CW as I would like to use it.
    - We have some Catalyst 6500s, and between them there are Etherchannels. CiscoWorks sends us email because HighUtilization, and it relies on a Gi interface. I read that CW doesn't support etherchannels, is this true.
    - I would like to receive email notifications about errdisabled state, etc. I know this is dome by RME, not DFM. The CiscoWorks server acts as Syslog server, too, and it collects the syslogs. I see in the Syslog summary, that the device sends to CW the syslog, but I can't receive email. I did an automated actions, (Monitor-Syslog-Automated actions), I defined the parameters (Facility: *, Sub-facility: *, Severity: 2, Mnemonic: PSECURE_VIOLATION, Description: *), but CW doesn't send me an email.
    - I would like to customize interface threshould parameters per device. We have some router with Tunnel utilization 90%, but it's okay because we have a 10Mbit line for the external site. But when our distribution switch ethernet utilization would be 90%, it would be critical. Where can I set these parameters per device/interface?
Thank you for your help in advance.
    Ferenc KURIS

If you go to  Monitoring > Fault Settings > setup > fault device details
Select the device click view and click the device to open the detailed device view.
There you may see the tu interface under interfaces and set it to managed.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • System restore questions

    I'm with a HP Pavilion dv3-2150us
Originally shipped with Vista, and I got a free upgrade to windows 7 when it came out.
Now the computer is some years old, slowed down and a little crabby. I thought about restoring it,
starting with a fresh OS, surely it will make things work more smoothly. My questions are these:
    1) If  I run a factory restore - will I still have the recovery partition available? As I understand it format the hard drives - but does it keep the recovery files for a future recovery?
2)I guess it will recover the computer back to Vista. Is there a smart way to recover it straight back to WIN7? I Think I can find the upgrade disk  got in the mail. Or am I forces to restore to vista and then upgrade again?
3)Will I need any Vista/Win7 activation keys to do this whole thing? Any other programs will need to be re-installed, but I am not sure I ever had an activation key for windows as it came with the computer.
    Thanks a lot
    Dvir

    Hi,
Your Recovery Discs will return the notebook to it's factory condition ( ie with the Four Primary Partitions you have now ), no matter how you have partitioned the HDD in the meantime - in fact, when using the discs, there is no way to avoid this which is why it's important to back-up the content of any custom partitions as they will be erased by the recovery process.

  • IPad Restore Question

    Hi Guys and Galls,
I'm just after a little bit of advice, I had an iPad for a few days and bought quite a few apps for it and had it backed up on my PC. I had to return the iPad for unforeseeable financial circumstances. So my question is when I get a new iPad in a few weeks how do I get the apps I bought for the old iPad onto the new iPad?
Second question, I’ll be changing my PC in a couple of months will iTunes just backup the iPad on my new PC or will I need to copy over the apps to my new PC from my old PC?
    Many thanks

When getting your new iPad just connect it to your computer and restore it from your previous backup.

  • PSE 4 Restore questions, please.

I have a few questions on how the restore function works in PSE 4 (having never done it before):
    1) I have a full backup on an external drive that dates to June '09.  Looking in the backup folder, all pictures have Bxxx.jpg names. Plus there are MyCatalog.buc and backup.tly files. When I restore them, will the original folders and filenames be recreated?
    2) During the restore process, will I be able to tell the system which drive/folder to restore them to?
    3) If I have since created a new mycatalog.psa in PSE and added recent photos, when I restore my backup, will it append the restored photo's to that catalog, or completely overwrite it?
    4) It's hard to explain but I have lots of duplicates, unnamed, misfiled, etc. photo's that I would dearly love to properly organize (my catalog has about 11,200 photo's in it).  Should I do this outside of PSE4 and then re-import into a clean catalog (yes, and loose all my tags, etc.), or try to manage it all thru PSE?  The reason I hesitate about the latter is, I'd need to click on each picture in PSE4 to see if it is not named properly, then dig further into properties to see if it is misfiled....a daunting task with over 11,000 pictures.  Would appreciate your advice before I begin this project.
    5) Somewhat unrelated question - I started to re-org my pictures earlier (before my crash) and found many w/ wrong date/time (metadata) associated.  Up to this point, I did nothing outside the catalog (but have done a lot of moving, re-importing, etc., over the years). So, how is it that the date/time associated to a .jpg can change?  Literally by years? Can you advise on what scenarios might make this happen?
Appreciate any advise you might lend.  Thanks -
    Christie

What a coincidence. I came to these forums because the same thing is happening to me in PSE 7, and I actually was doing a search on the green box around the photo and the flashing date when I click on a file folder and that led me to this thread. I have my Photoshop organizer file structure set up to match my Windows file structure. I use Photoshop to download all of my photos to folders labeled with the date the photo was taken. Then I typically rename the folder using Photoshop, and the matching rename shows up in Windows. If I move any files or folders, I do it through Photoshop Organizer. I have read the online manual and I *think* that I'm following the instructions, but I admit that I don't find any of it to be particularly intuitive. Whatever I'm doing wrong must be cumulative.
This has happened gradually, but now when I ask the Organizer to display the photos (I have everything checked to show in the 'View' menu), it displays only a fraction of them, and they are associated with the wrong folders. When I try to rename some of the folders, I get a message that says "The folder that you are trying to rename contains files that are not visible in the Organizer. Are you sure you want to rename this folder?" Yet, when I right click on the file in the Photoshop filetree and display the files in Explorer, then attempt to add them to the Organizer, Photoshop tells me that all of the files have already been imported. The only way I can see some of them in the Organizer is to search for them by filename, and I'm not talking about edited images, I mean the originals in the set. And I, too, have found photos (originals, not edits) that have had the date changed. Fortunately, I have under 1000 photos so I could erase the whole thing and re-import them and re-tag and caption everything, but I've spent hours and hours doing this already and don't want to have the same thing happen to me again.
At this point, I'm ready to just go back to organizing, rating, tagging and captioning my photos in Windows and using PSE to just edit them and create the occasional online album to share with family.
