LMS v3.2 Proxy configuration also used to access ACS

Hello,
I'm running LMS version 3.2 on Windows in ACS mode. To access Cisco.com I use a proxy server, this proxy server has access to the Internet, but connections to "inside" servers (like ACS) are not allowed.
I've noticed that the HTTP/HTTPs Connectivity With ACS has a status "Not Reachable". When troubleshooting this with a network sniffer, I noticed requests for https://<ACS_SERVER>:2002 being sent to the proxy instead of a direct connection. The proxy denies these requests.
I can't remove the proxy configuration in LMS, as this will break connectivity to Cisco.com
I don't want to permit access to "inside" servers on the proxy server, as I consider this a security issue.
Any ideas?
Kind regards,
Siebe

This sounds like bugs I have fixed in the past.  It's been a while since I heard of such a problem.  Restart Daemon Manager, and confirm that the problem goes away.  That is, before doing anything else in CiscoWorks, confirm that it is no longer trying to use the proxy to access ACS.  This will confirm that the proxy settings are being leaked by some other task.
If so, then try the following tasks, testing to see if the problem comes back:
Common Services > Software Center
Software Update
Device Update
RME > Reports
Bug Toolkit
PSIRT
End of Life
RME > Software Mgmt

  • Severe proxy configuration bug preventing mail access

    Hello,
the proxy configuration options for LAN / WIFI networks have a major bug: if a proxy server is set manually, it prevents e-mail accounts from working while being connected to that proxy-enabled network!
Interestingly, if the proxy is configured by using a PAC file, e-mails work successfully again, in addition to all proxied protocols like http, https and ftp.
Furthermore, it is not even possible to connect to mail server within the local network when manual proxy settings are active - the device does not even try to connect to anything, if trying to set up an account, it gives a confusing error message saying that not all settings of the mail account were correct.
As soon as the proxy settings are removed OR obtained by using PAC, everything works again!
Please fix this in one of the next releases as it impedes usage on networks with proxy enforcement! Maybe just add a selector to which protocols the proxy settings should be applied!? As I know several typical network settings, proxy is mainly used for thhp/https/ftp, not any mail protocol (for which e.g. a SOCKS proxy would be needed, which is quite different to "regular" proxies and should be treated separately in the config.)
There are several topics on the support forums that might be related to this, but have not yet taken care of: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Z10/IMAP-Issue-with-WLAN-and-PROXY-OS-10-1/m-p/2380235/highlight/true#M24019 http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Mail-IMAP-SMTP-traffic-is-blocked-when-proxy-is-set-though-proxy/m-p/3111038/highlight/true#M16311 http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/E-mail-behind-Proxy/m-p/1817891/highlight/true#M41527 maybe: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Q10/IMAP-Not-work/m-p/2647853/highlight/true#M12323 maybe: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Enterprise-Service-12/BES12-mail-not-sync-when-proxy-profile-is-added-to-user/m-p/3105347/highlight/true#M1613

Okay, this behaviour (although strange compared to "usual" proxy setting choices, e.g. in desktop operating systems or browsers) might be an explanation for the effects currently seen. This would be a good chance to extend the proxy options to a more "regular" or complete set: 1.) Add a possibility to choose which protocols are to be proxied (so e.g. IMAP could be excluded, in my opinion a proxy supporting this is even less common than rare). 2.) Add a "no proxy for these hosts" list.

  • After installing Firefox 4 Beta 9, using Manual Proxy Configuration fails to connect to the internet and also fails with corporate intranet. Has anything changed?

Initially, Firefox 4 Beta 8 is installed. Manual Proxy Configuration was used, and worked fine.
After installing Beta 9 using the built-in updater, connecting to internet and intranet fails instantly with Page Not Found error. Restarting Firefox does not fix the problem.
Clean install of Beta 9 also exhibits the same problems.

    I have this problem too...

    Hi,
If the TOR Browser Bundle is installed you would have two versions of Firefox: the original Mozilla Firefox and the customized TOR Firefox. You can try to start the Firefox that was installed by TOR. If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of TOR and TOR Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration areas/modules of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization etc. in addition to the main AV/Firewall module. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for TOR and TOR Firefox + its related processes. Even otherwise some security software may also ask again when TOR/TOR Firefox is started and you can try to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].

You can also try [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ updating the original Mozilla Firefox], set '''No Proxy''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt '''+ '''T''') > '''Options '''> '''Advanced '''> '''Network '''> [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel?as=u Settings] and check.

  • A new version of Firefox, which downloaded automatically, says Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections, even though I had access before the download.

I was using Firefox earlier in the day with no problem. About half an hour ago I tried to get on the Internet using Firefox (as always). When I did, I was greeted with a little dialog box showing that something was downloading. That's happened before.
This time, though, I was greeted by an error page that said Firefox was configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections.
I'm not on a network. I have a desktop computer that connedts to a wireless modem that I share only with my wife. I didn't change my settings on either. Neither did my wife.
My "Connection Settings" box still says "use system proxy settings." There are no entries in the manual settings boxes.
I want to emphasize that I changed *nothing.*
I need to know, please, how I can set my computer to get back onto the Internet or, failing that, how I can go back to the previous version of Firefox.
    Thank you very much.

  • I am running Firefox 3.5.4. When I try to upgrade to a newer version I get "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections." Then, I have to re-install 3.5.4 to get to the internet. I have Windows XP. How do I fix this?

Any version of Firefox above 3.5.4 I try to install will not let me get to the internet. Each Firefox gets upgraded it keeps giving me the error message that "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections." Then I need to re-install 3.5.4 to get to the internet. This is driving me nuts! How do I fix this?

    You're welcome

Only the business service would rely on the JMS queues, which in turn would trigger an MDB. I have tested the business service and it works fine.
The problem is only with the polling part of the proxy service.

I try to go online with Firefox 4.0 and I keep getting the error Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections. I go to tools then settings then options and click on one of 3 buttons No proxy, auto detect proxy settings for this network, use system proxy settings, and manual proxy configuration if I get rid of the numbers in the boxes. After I check one of them I retry it then it works until I close firefox. When I open firefox again it repeats the same thing all over again.
