Load balance business connectors

Hi experts,
We have 4 business connectors 4.7 version running on 5 different servers, Currently we are facing the problem of frequent restart on all of them. I would like to know is there any way we can load balance so that new Idoc processing request will go to the least used server. Also would like to know if increase in number of IDoc in flow will affect the performance of the business connectors.
Regards,
Suresh

Hi,
Please check the below from this article.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/749e64d6-9924-4150-bac0-ce4174896fb6/relaying-using-load-balancer?forum=exchange2010
For those who still monitor this thread,
The issue here is that the HLB is not configured to Use Source IP. In the Netscaler world, this is configured on a device or load balancer level and is referred to as USIP. (Use Source IP) If Source IP is not configured, the HLB will pass
the traffic to Exchange using the HLB's interface. You can configure this IP as an allowed IP address on your relay connector, but this is a big security risk as previously stated because all traffic that is routed through the HLB has rights to relay.
Concerning the network guy in PeterN22's post, open connections can be a problem and can cause port saturation if you are using an (*) as a wildcard on your RPC load balancing service. I have had much better luck, across all my load balanced deployments
(Citrix, Kemp, Cisco, etc.), when I use static port assignments on all load balanced services. For example:
SMTP - 25
RPC - 59532
OAB - 59533
HTTPS - 443
POP - 110
etc.
Exchange 2013 load balancing is now stateless and doesn't rely on Source IP, but this same issue with SMTP will occur if Source IP is not used. I know this is a recap of some of the other posts, but hopefully the additional information is helpful for
someone who may come across this post.

• Load Balancing E-Business Suite 11i using BIG-IP

"Has anyone deployed an Oracle E-Business Suite 11i solution in a load balanced environment based on the F5 BIG-IP 2400 device?"
Background:
When loadbalanced, Oracle forms requires a form of persistence to be in place, presumably to maintain state information.
If using simple persistence based on client source IP address, then there is no problem.
However in our environment, 1000s of clients are hidden behind the single IP address of a proxy server, therefore simple persistence will provide true load balancing.
The alternative is cookie based persistence which will allow true load balancing even with clients hidden behind a proxy. However the challenge here is that Oracle Forms is java and not http based which means that BIG-IP cannot insert an http cookie into the java packets sent to the client by the Oracle server.
If anyone has come across this issue and found a way round it, could you please describe how this is achieved? Either by configuration of the BIG-IP switch or at the Oracle Application side.

Metalink doc id 290807.1 says that Internet Explorer 8 is now ccertified using Sun JRE 1.6.0_03 and higher. • Load balancing for Business Package iviews

Hello Gurus,
we have installed SRM Business packages on our Portal system and accessing the SRM which has 2 application servers.How can we make the iviews to access any one of the application server as the link to ITS in iviews is static.What is the easiest and best approach to get them load balanced using Business Package iviews.
Regards!

Dear G,
As I see your back-end system has 2 app servers... to cofigure the portal iViews to use both app servers you need to define that in the portal system object that is defined to connect to the backend system... You should look if the system object you use for connecting to srm is of the type: "SAP_R3_LoadBalancing"
See also: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/1f/bddf3d48b05d5ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
In addition because you are talking about ITS you could configure a WebDispatcher in front of your Backend SRM system...
Good Luck,

• AD password Sync connector .. LOAD Balanced

we are using AD password sync 9.0.4.x connector with 4 domain controllers. OIM is on 9.1.0.2. Is it possible to configure AD password sync with load balanced Domain Controllers. User are binding to all domain controllers. Please let me know how to achieve this. I am not able to find any document on this. Thanks
Akshay

In password synch the event stream is as follows:
User changes password on the user's machine
The user's machine contacts a "suitable" AD domain controller and updates the user password
The first AD domain controller contacts other AD DCs in order to replicate the change
At some point the AD DC that contains the OIM password synch client module gets updated
The AD password synch client module contacts OIM and updates the password in OIM
Unless you change the OIM AD password synch client you can't have the connection go through a load balancer. According to the connector manual section 2.2 Installing the Password Synchronization Module(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11223_01/doc.904/e10450.pdf) you can do this at install time but I don't know if it can be done post installation.

• Apache 2 + Sun Java 8.1 load balancer connector dies under load

Hi,
We are testing the apache module "mod_loadbalancer.so" for connecting an apache 2 to a Sun Java 8.1 App Servers running on a different box.
When we perform a basic load testing (60 concurrent users) we are experiencing a very high CPU usage: apache's CPU consumption is around 30-40%per child.
This generates or very slow responses from the App Server or at some point the apache thread die, and therefore, lose of connection to the app server, generating an internal server error.
If we perform this same test directly to the App Server httpd listener, it bahaves fine. We have also performmed the same test againt static content of apache, and again the everything is ok, we even have tried using iWS instead of apache, and the CPU does not go over 4%, so it looks like the problem resides on the apache connector.
Have any of you experienced something similar?

• Load balancing on older hardware for small business

Hey Spiceheads!Im sure I am way over my head here but I like to swim so its all good. I am fairly new to IT and am enjoying the ride, so this one should be fun too.In my office we have 8 servers, 10 USB hard drives for.... stuff. I didnt set it up. So we have virtually no redundancy.We have one good server and 7 pretty old ones, so I had a thought to put in a SAN or NAS and Load balance all of the old servers together. Then we would have plenty of storage/ backups (Raid 6 probably or whatever the SAN does) and we could keep the old servers and use them as they would be needed.My system requirements are as follows:2 Windows VMs
1-2 SQL servers
2-Linux Servers one of which is high performance
Backups.I know its a small list but if there is an economical way to do this I think we would have a very robust system, we do web development and are...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

I'm not sure if this help you, but it's not that easy to join two networks together. If you take the reason why, it's because of different IP addresses. If you are downloading something from the Internet you would have to divide the data into two different IP addresses = two different computers. Thing you can do is auto-balance use of wlan0 and wlan1 according to the usage. So, script will forward for first user packets on wlan0 and if somebody else connects he will get forwarded to wlan1. If there are more people you need to divide network bandwidth in different way, but I don't see way how to get 20Mbps with a single computer on a single TCP connection working as normal. It's possible to ask server for portion of data with wlan0 and then for the second portion on wlan1, but it may be complicated for data downloads with server sessions attached to the IP.

• Query - Business Objects- CMS Cluster internals for load balancing/ sharing

Hi,
We are implementing CMS Cluster solution between two BOE server on Windows 2003 OS. As per documentation, One CMS server is primary, which coordinates with secory CMS server within same cluster. Does both server share equal load without external load balancer, by BOE cluster functionality? What are the tuning parameters for Load balancing between 2 CMS servers?
Thanks for your help!!
Regards,
G

If you somehow needed to accomplish load balancing between the 2 machines which wasn't 50/50 you could possibly try dns aliasing and have more copies of one machine than the other. I'm not recommending this, just thinking out loud here.

• What is load balancing in sap business objects.

Hi friends.
Any one give me correct answer..

Hi,
it depends if you are talking about clustering the processing tiers (& using server groups) to achieve load-balancing, or if you mean using a load balancer in front of the web-tier (typically, Apache Tomcat) ? Also. it could be a software or hardware load balancer.
essentially, it splits the load across the boxes.

• Business Objects XI 3.1 load balancing (is not balancing).

We have 2 x Tomcat servers running on 2 seperate Solaris servers. Users access XI via a load balanced URL which hits one or other of these 2 servers. However, this is not happening. What we see is that which ever server the load balancer hits first (after Tomcat server restarts), all subsequent sessions are connected to that Tomcat server. We see no traffic in the other Tomcat's logs. My IP engineers have assured me it's not the CSM (h/w load balancer) and that the sticky bit is correctly set. What ever I try we only get 1 Tomcat server doing any work. If 1 Tomcat is up and the other down, the load balancing works as expected - i.e. all traffic hits the live Tomcat server. It's just when the 2 are up and running it does not behave as expected. We have BO XI configured for Silent Single Sign-On (SSSO) with Windows AD. When the Tomcat servers start up the LDAP + SSSO initialisation can be seen to be successful in both Tomcat logs.
Is there any special session stickiness or cookie settings the h/w load balancer needs to be configured with ?
Is there something that needs to be configured in Tomcat, especially as we have SSSO configured ?
s/w versions:
BO XI 12.1.0
Tomcat 5.5 (standard install deployment)
Any suggestiojns gratefully recieved.
Thanks
Rich

Load balancer as well as Tomcat servers are not part of BOE product, so you do not have a problem with Xi3.1 load balancing.
BOE simply has no play between LB and Tomcats.
If you have 10 DIFFERENT user sessions and all of them or majority of them go to only one of 2 tomcats -- this is a problem with your loadbalancer and has nothing to do with BOE or session persistancy.
If you have ONE user session and all request go to a single tomcat , then your session persistancy is set correctly and everything works as expected.

• Livecycle Connector to Sharepoint behind load balancer

In the environment of our customer, there is a load balancer in front of 2 sharepoint servers.
Then the PDF document is uploaded from the Livecycle server to sharepoint (via the load balancer).
However, occasionally it will fail to place the PDF to the folder specified, and placed on the outermost folder in sharepoint.
May we have any hint to fix the problem?
Thanks.

Trevor,
I'm sorry to say that extending the Default zone to, say, Internet, did not change the behavior... even with the introduction of host header information. Could it be something to do with my use of ports? I am very new to SharePoint. Should I
be extending the applications (I have many on the same server) and use host header information in place of using any explicit port information when creating these extended zones?

• WebMethods Integration Server Vs. SAP Business Connector 4.7 (BC)

Hi All
We have to integrate non SAP systems and SAP systems for that we have 2 options
1) SAP Business Connector 4.7 (BC)
2) webMethods Integration Server
which one will be better option for this kind of POC by considering all the issues like interaction with SAP RFC or IDocs, performance, load balancing, salability, maintenance, etc.
please tell us pro's and cons of both to decide upon which is better option.
Thanks in Advance
Thanks

It is the same product, with different branding.
The only thing is that SAP consider the SAP BC end-of-maintenance, and suggest to use XI.

I have a working business connector installation on a Windows 2000 server, and when I checked the error log of that installation I noticed that it had logged the same errors about the 'WmPartners' package. It on the other hand didn't have any problems loading the 'SAP' package.
I tried installing the business connector on two different systems with identical results. Has anybody been able to get the business connector to work on Windows XP?

• SAP GLM Print Request - Load Balancing of WWI server

Hi GLM Experts,
I am using new GLM + module that generates labels based on Print Requests. I am unable to understand how I can load balance the WWI services when there are multiple label printing requests.
In GLM + we associate a WWI to a Print Station and which can then be associated with a printer. So in the configuration we are tying up a printer a WWI.
Also during label printing, if the scenario uses print request module, then the use need to select a print station and printer. What happens if the WWI related to the print station is down?
For example I have two services in WWI server GENPC1 and GENPC2. I created WWII and WWI2 as two print stations. I will associate my printer PRNWWI to both the print stations WWI1 and WWI2.
During label printing if the user picks and WWI1 and Printer PDNWWI and if the GENPC1 WWI server assocaited with print status WWI1 is busy and down I want WWI GENPC2 to generate the label?
How to setup the above load balancing or fall back? Please let me know.
Thanks
Pugal

Dear Pugal
we are not using GLM + and I am not sure about the technqiue used there to handle load balancing. Regarding general WWI setup I assume you know this Note: EH&S: Availability and performance of WWI and Expert servers
On the top there is a further SAP Note abvailable which might be of interest. This is referenced here:
http://de.scribd.com/doc/191576739/011000358700000861002013-e
May be check OSS note: 1958655; OSS Note 1155294 is more related to normal WWI stuff; but may be check it as well. May be 1934253 might help better
May be this might help.
C.B.
PS: may be check as well: consolut - EHS_MD_140_01 - EH&S-Management-Server einrichten
The load balancing of synchron WWi servers is donein the "RFC" layer, therefore you have no inffluence here, for asynchron WWI servers you can do a lot to manage the WWI load balancing by using "exits" etc.

• Load Balancing, Server and / or Client ?

Hi
I am experiencing a problem with the connection pooling in odp.net. I have a simple test app that creates a connection, executes a query, populates an object then closes the connection. I have found that when I have client side load balancing on via the odp.net connection string property many connections are made unnecessary (sometime the actual number created reaches the max pool size but the numbers differ randomly). It appears that rather than a free connection in the pool being used more connections are being created which defeats the point of having a connection pool. I do have server side load balancing configured correctly also. Due to this finding can someone possibly answer the following questions.
a) Do I need both server side and client side load balancing set?
b) If I do why is the above behaviour being seen? If not could you give me a short explanation as to why not?
Current set up is 11g (patched to 6, awaiting 7 to be applied) RAC, 2 nodes.
Below is the C# code used while testing this. The table queried is a simple person table containing 16000 rows if data.
OcConnection = "User Id=XXX; Password=XXX; Connection Lifetime = 60; Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(FAILOVER=on)(LOAD_BALANCE=off)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=XXX)(PORT=1521))(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=XXX)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=MyFirstTest))); Pooling=true; HA Events = true; Load Balancing = true";
Code:-
Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection con;
con = new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection();
con.ConnectionString =OcConnection;
con.Open();
// the command object to use for this test
OracleCommand cmd = con.CreateCommand();
cmd.CommandText = "select * from PERSON";
OracleDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
List<test> listTest = new List<test>();
while (rdr.Read())
test dc = new test();
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(0))
dc.id = Convert.ToInt32(rdr.GetValue(0));
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(1))
dc.forename = rdr.GetString(1);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(2))
dc.surname = rdr.GetString(2);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(3))
dc.street = rdr.GetString(3);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(4))
dc.city = rdr.GetString(4);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(5))
dc.postcode = rdr.GetString(5);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(6))
dc.country = rdr.GetString(6);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(7))
dc.email = rdr.GetString(7);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(8))
dc.dateadded = rdr.GetDateTime(8);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(9))
Words = rdr.GetString(9);
if (!rdr.IsDBNull(10))
Number = Convert.ToInt32(rdr.GetValue(10));
listTest.Add(dc);
rdr.Close();
con.Close();
rdr.Dispose();
cmd.Dispose();
con.Dispose();
Thanks for your time

Here are the HTTP Headers as monitored on the client side. Notice the good.txt file includes a GET as it's initial request. All works fine in this case. However, the initial request in the bad.txt is a POST. This is odd since the URL was opened using the same shortcut in both incidents and the browser was closed between each trace that was taken. I've also reviewed the shortcut with notepad to verify it does not include unwanted data such as the JSESSIONID info....etc.
Once you have reviewed the HTTP headers, I have these questions.
1. IIS is sending the 100 Continue messages as you mention, but why is the CSS injecting the cookie in a 100 response that is not typically processed by the client? The bad.txt file shows the client receiving two ARPT cookies because the first cookie in the 100 continue response was ignored.
2. I know Cisco is not really in the business of troubleshooting browser behaviour. But do you know why the browser would behave differently....GET in one request and a POST in the next? We do not wish to get into modifying the browser, so I'm hoping we can provide a solution on the server side that will allow the browser to function this way if it chooses to do so. Do you think it would make sence to push the state management up a level to the cookie handed out by JRUN? This way, the cookie would not be handed back in a 100 response from IIS, and we could tell the CSS to monitor the JRUN cookie. Of course this would require we determine how to manage this cookie either by modifying to cookie to have static data for each server, or by using the right method of hashing...etc.
