Loading clips into levels into physical stage locations

i have 9 clips loading into 9 levels onto the stage which
form a certain physical arrangement. they load properly relative to
each other, but as a group, the group is way out of position. how
do i control their placement? i created a target clip for them like
loadMovie("grid.swf", _level1.gridClip); but that action produces
nothing at all. whattayathink?
sbb

are you loading into a _level or loading into a movieclip?
if you're loading into a movieclip, just position it where
you want on-stage and flash will load the upper left of your
external file into the center of your target movieclip. or you can
use actionscript to position the movieclip (but DON'T use the px in
the code supplied by funkysoul).
if you're loading into a _level, you must wait until loading
is complete (for the first item loaded into a _level) before using
something like:

• Loading clips into loadmovienum.. trying to make load in background

I swear that this was working earlier but i must have changed something because now it isnt. I have a few clips that im trying to have load in the background without actually being visible upon initial load. To accomplish this i was going with something like this on the first frame of the main clip:
loadMovieNum("dl_illustration.swf",4);
_level4._visible = false;
I SWEAR this same code was working just fine about 30 mins ago and now ive been playing with some other stuff and its not working anymore- the illustration clip just loads right over top of the main clip, basically ignoring my call for it to be invisible. Does anyone have ANY clue what is going on here?

you have to preload _level4, not _root:
on frame 1:
fill._xscale=0;
loadMovieNum("dl_illustration.swf",4);
this.onEnterFrame=function(){
var lb:Number=_level4.getBytesLoaded();
var tb:Number=_level4.getBytesTotal();
if(bl>0){
var loaded:Number = 100*bl/bt
fill._xscale = loaded; // assuming there's something on-stage with instance name fill
prcnt_done.text=loaded+"% Loaded"; // assuming there's a textfield with instance name prcnt_done on-stage
if(bl>=bt){
delete this.onEnterFrame
// loading is complete. do whatever
p.s. the _visible property is reset in load-targets so it's not usable to hide loading swfs/images. you can use the _alpha property because that's not reset in load-targets. but, again, the target has to exist before you can reference it. your best solution, if you want to use _level4, is to place an empty keyframe in your external swf in frame 1 and attach a stop() to that frame. after loading is complete, apply a play() method to _level4 when you want it to play.

• Loading ntext data from MSSQL into Oracle - field locations vary

Good afternoon/evening everyone
I'm looking for a practical solution to a data migration issue I am running into. Here's the detail.
1. Source database is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
2. Destination database is Oracle 11g R2.
3. Migration strategy: Use MSSQL Management Studio Export Wizard to export all tables into flat files and then use SQL*Loader to load into Oracle.
Sounds easy...Here's the problem I'm running into:
1. Several tables have ntext data.
2. The location of ntext attribute within the table varies by table.
3. The number of ntext attributes in the source table varies by table.
4. I'm using a field delimiter to split the data.
What I am running into:
1. There is nothing within the data for the ntext field that is common that would allow me to use a CONTINUEIF to cause the multiple physical records to be concatenated into a logical record.
2. The number of physical records very for creating the logical record.
3. Other data exists after each ntext attribute that is either ntext or non-ntext data.
What I'm looking for:
1. Would like to use SQL*Loader, if possible; otherwise I'll write a PL/SQL procedure to read the data, row for row, and load it into the appropriate fields.
2. Looking for ideas from the Forum experts to provide some Control File syntax that would accomplish what I'm trying to do. I'm out of ideas.
I would appreciate some assistance and some ideas if you have any.
Thanks in advance

is this what you are looking for?
select replace('this a text with\X0D\X0Ain it', '\X0D\X0A', chr(13) || chr(10)) from dualyou can do the replace directly when loading by putting "replace(:fieldname, '\X0D\X0A', chr(13) || chr(10))"
next to the field in the controll file you use with sql*loader (including the " signs). Or you can use it in an update statement.

• How to load swf into a movie clip?

i have an swf file i want to load into a movie clip within my
flash file, i think im supposed to use loadmovie () instead of
loadmovienum, can anyone help me out? thanks

loadMovie("X",Y);
Where x is: the url of the swf file you want to load.
Where y is: the name of the movieclip you want to load it
into. You must give the movieclip an instance name.
For example, if I wanted to load '1.swf' into a movieclip
with an instance name of "loaderclip," my code would be:
loadMovie("1.swf", loaderclip);

• Loading JPEGs into set position on stage

Hi All,
I have made a flash movie as seen at
http://www.coffeemamma.com.au
and would
like to change the following:
I'd like to generate three random numbers from 1 to 5
inclusive but I want
to ensure that each number is different - e.g. 2, 4, 1 (not
2, 4, 2). I know
how to generate ONE random number, but I'm stuck on comparing
them to see
whether they are the same (and if they are, then generate new
numbers until
they are unique).
With the three numbers I would like to load images based on
those numbers -
e.g. '_image_2.jpg' then '_image_4.jpg' then '_image_1.jpg'.
This part is
fine IF I can generate the numbers.
I'd also like to have the images come to the front when they
are hovered
over with the mouse and then to go 'back' to their original
position when
the mouse moves away. This I'm completely stuck on.
I'd also like to be able to put the newly loaded images into
certain
positions (as per the example) rather than only loaded to
(0,0) coordinates.
I also want to be able to have the images masked as they come
in (as per the
example) in order to avoid white corners on the top images.
I also have a page as per
http://www.wasabi.org.au/wodonga.shtml
which has
some of the functions I want to use, but I can't seem to get
some of the
functions working in my new movie...
Many thanks,
Bruce

• Write SharePoint Custom Error logs into physical location

Hi
I need to programmatically write a custom error logs using SPDiagnosticsService class into my custom physcial location.
But when i use SPDiagnosticsService it will write error logs into 15hive\logs folder instead i want to write into my physical location(say C:\Logs\Error.log)
How to achieve this?
Regards,
Siva

Hi,
SPDiagnosticsService has a property 'loglocation' and it only points to one location. I reckon, you can not use one location for SharePoint log, another one for custom log - if you use SPDiagnosticsService. What I do for my SharePoint projects is, create
a custom logger, which wrap the SPDiagnosticsService inside. Then My Logger class write the log into some custom location (configurable through web.config or by other means) as well as pass it to SPDiagnosticsService. Having a custom log file for custom solution
helps to find problem very quickly and easily - which would be difficult if you would need to go through large log files. So I can suggest, write a custom logger, wrap SPDiagnosticsService inside the cutom logger. Then on every Log Event, write in your
cusotm file and if you want you can pass the event to SPDiagnosticsService also.

• How to dynamically load images into Flash

I have a movie clip on the stage that I want to dynamically
load images into (that constantly change), how would I go about
doing this? Thanks.

Use the Loader class to load in images.
Then use addChild to add the Loader class into your MovieClip
on the stage.
As far as "constantly change" what
do you mean by that? You could use setInterval, ther enterFrame
event, or any other means to trigger a new image to be loaded into
the Loader instance.
Finally, you can use the Tween class to create some nice
effects for the images (fade it, blur in, photo blend, masks,
etc)

Are you sure that you haven't got Planning 11.1.2.3.500 in your environment? This sounds spookily similar to the issue described in note 1678759.1 which was seen after applying Planning 11.1.2.3.500. If it's definitely Planning 11.1.2.3.500 is there any chance that someone has applied ODI patch 18687916 to the ODI home (C:\Oracle\Middleware\odi)?
If you /*are*/ running Planning 11.1.2.3.500 then you might need to apply patch 18687916 to C:\Oracle\Middleware\odi - you might need note 1683307.1 to take some of the pain out of applying this patch though.
Given the error that you're seeing though there's a mismatch in versions of JAR files between ODI and the Planning server somewhere.

• "Load files into Photoshop layers" fails to complete CS6

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with the folling problem with Photoshop & Bridge CS6
When in Bridge, after selecting 6 images (CR2) using the command TOOLS>LOAD FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP LAYERS the first file will load into Photoshop, Photoshop will then generate a second blank layer and then read the second file. At this point the "script" will stop. I am left with a document with 2 layers. The top layer has my first image, the bottom layer is empty.
At this point when I quit Photoshop I am prompted to save this open document which appears to be the only open document. I choose not to save this as a file. I then get a dialogue box prompting to save another open document. Photoshop has loaded the second file to place as a layer but as the "script" has aborted I am left with an open, but invisible file.
When I first loaded CS6 on Snow Leopard, it would demonstrate this behaviour every time I attempted to run this command from Bridge.
I did a clean install on a blank HDD of OSX Lion. Installed CS6. The command worked without fail for about a month.
Then I would get the command aborting occasionally. Restarting Photoshop would let me continue for a few hours before this aborted script problem would happen again.
Over the last week it has become more frequent, to a point where this workflow is unusable.
A restart of Photoshop may fix the problem for the next batch of images, only to fail again soon after, or fail on the first attempt after a relaunch of Photoshop.
A reboot of my computer will allow my to load one or two sets of files before again failing to complete the command.
I have tried the following:
In Photoshop preferences:
disabling the "Use graphics Processor"
Increasing or decreasing the amount of RAM available to Photoshop
Changing the cache levels or changing the cache tile size
changing the scratch disk
Trashing the Photoshop preferences file (Photoshop Settings.psp)
In Bridge
Purging the cache
Increasing or decreasing the cache size
Resetting Bridge preferences (holding Command on launch) and deleting all cache files.
In general system
Quitting extra programs (Safari, Thunderbird, iTunes)
Sometimes this will seem to then allow Photoshop to load a full set of images, only to abort again after a few sets.
Rebooting the computer - again will work for a few images sets before again failing.
Now the fact that it worked fine for several weeks without presenting a problem would indicate that it is not a bug.
The fact that is slowly started happening then became more frequent would indicate something changing slowly over time - a larger cache folder perhaps, although purging known Bridge cache folders has not filed the problem.
Really at the end of my tether here. Even considering downgrading to CS5 - but don't want to have to use the older Adobe Camera Raw.
System is as follows:
Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Quad Core
24GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870 512
OSX Lion 10.7.4
I have seen a couple of others have posted having a the same problem, both with CS5 and CS6.
Hoping someone has an answer.
Thanks.

Hi JJMack - I just re-read your post. For some reason I thought you were suggesting to make sure "Open documents in Tabs" was selected, it was. Now I realize you were suggesting to turn it off! As another attemp to solve this problem I did de-select it today. Seemed to work for a good while. I was getting very excited, then, on the last set of images I had to do it displayed the same problem. But, it did go for quite a while without failing, and when it did I was thrashing about trying to make another app active. When loading documents like this - with "Open documents in Tabs" de-selected, Photoshop wants to put the loading images as the front-most window, no matter what other apps (Bridge, email, web etc) I click on in the dock. I think it is related to the bug you described effecting the "load files to stack" command.
Hopefully Adobe is looking at this - mind you, I have read reports of people having this problem in CS5! Looks like that was never resolved sadly.
I'll keep testing and post back.
I am looking to upgrade my video card to see if it's a video memory thing.
What is very weird though is the fact that this problem didn't present itself until after several weeks of working with this command with no problem. No additional apps installed, nothing changed. Why would it start happening only after a while?
Thanks again for your suggestion.

• Load swf into RAM via an asset manager

Hi.
I have an AS3 virtual world and we are continually loading external resources such as swfs and sounds.
A few of my menu screens that take a damn long time to load. Read a tut that said we should load them into RAM using an asset manager.
I'm assuning the asset manager is simply a Class used specifically for loading and unloading graphics, swfs and sounds. So the important part to ask is:
What do they mean by loading into RAM.
I thought all swfs were automatically loaded into RAM ie: cached or in the flash player cache or the browser cache. Or do I have to do it specifically myself with some code. We are importing external files so we thought that was a great idea as they are shared by many games.
btw: RSLs I have read about but I don't understand. I thought my externally loaded files were RSLs (runtime shared libraries) or would I have to do some physical coding do convert them into RSLs.
This is so important because I am not very experienced but I am getting a lot better due to help receied in this forum and my current programmer is leaving me. I have been studying up on As3 and design patterns and I understand basic coding a lot better now.
CHEERS
EDIT: Just read that I am using a http call. - I use urlloader - well that's what you use isn't it or how would you load an external swf. Just read that you can hold the swf as a variable which loads it in RAM and therefore will be available immediately. Know I don't understand anything as I have never read that anywhere.

Hi Andrei, nice to see you around here.
Well, somebody helping me says that normally we make a http request with urlLoader to the server and that is what was happening each time. We weren't getting the cached swf. (that bit I don't understand and doesn't sound right - anyway...)
So he says if we create a dictionary class to hold that swf then the next time we make a request we will get the movie from there and not from the server.
I have highlighted the main parts of code below.
What I don't understand about all this is that I have never seen anything like this in my life. I have read extensively and read all about loading external files and using this type of asset manager with the dictionary class does not ring a bell and goole comes up with nothing.
I hunch is that as you say, we are doing something wrong somewhere because the only way to get an external file is via urlLoader to the server the first time and then the second time it should look for it cached on our computer is that right? Or when we make the urlLoader request how does it know to look on our computer first before going to the server or are these innner workings of the flash player I know nothing about. This is so important as when I get 10 kids on the computers they wait for as long as 5 minutes for movies that have already been downloaded many times before.
Cheers in advance.

• How do I join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in Premiere Pro CS5?

Hello,
The question is in the title but I'm wondering how I can join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in PP CS5.5. I put all my short clips right next to each other and selected all of them to see what options are available by right clicking and using the toolbar options at the top. The closest that I got was to nest the sequence, but that's not what I really want.
I'd like to merge all the short clips into one single (long) audio file to use under the video.
Thoughts are welcome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Melvin

O.K. This is kind of fundamental and you will need to learn up on this fully ...but for now...
Make sure you have the WAB ( work area bar )covering the length of the audio clips. ( You do not need to select them)
Go to the File Menu> Export Media
You will be given all the Export Options. Choose Wave File
Select option for Export Work Area.
Choose where to export the file to ( HD location)
follow your nose from there....

BTW - Why are you taking the audio to Audition anyway? What are you going to do to it.

Hi ajoddo20,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
You can use Home Sharing to import music and other media from one computer to another. Please use the instructions and information located in the attached article for information on how to complete the process.

• Can I modify 'Load Files into Stack.jsx' for custom white balance?

I've been wondering whether its possible to change Adobe's 'Load Layers in Stack' script so that it loads RAW files with the white balance adjustments I have made in Camera Raw ('ACR').
At present, the script loads the files as layers with the default ACR (or Lightroom) settings. This means that any white balance adjustments to the file in ACR are ignored and the RAW file is loaded with the WB 'As Shot'.
It IS possible to save new ACR default settings, but this doesn't really help because I don't want the WB to be a constant value. The changes I make in ACR are usually subtle and 'by eye'.
I would like the script to be mindful of these changes when opening the RAW file.. does anyone have any suggestions?
The script is below.
