Loading data thru SQL

I am working on our very first ESSBASE database, and we are currently loading data for the previous month. Our measures dimension has around 18 children right now.When we loaded the data, we noticed that the numbers were a bit off, even though the load was 'successful'.When we tried to load June data one measure at a time, the numbers for some measures were corrected. Still, some of the measures were off.Does anyone know of any limitations regarding loading data thru SQL?Thank you for your help!

'Successful' only means that the SQL source was accessed without generating any SQL errors. You may still have had dataload errors (rows which Essbase was unable to load into the database).Check the dataload error file (default location in the %Arborpath%\client directory)David

  • Sql@loader-704  and ORA-12154: error messages when trying to load data with SQL Loader

    I have a data base with two tables that is used by Apex 4.2. One table has 800,000 records . The other has 7 million records
    The client recently upgraded from Apex 3.2 to Apex 4.2 . We exported/imported the data to the new location with no problems
    The source of the data is an old mainframe system; I needed to make changes to the source data and then load the tables.
    The first time I loaded the data i did it from a command line with SQL loader
    Now when I try to load the data I get this message:
    sql@loader-704 Internal error: ulconnect OCISERVERATTACH
    ORA-12154: tns:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I've searched for postings on these error message and they all seem to say that SQL Ldr can't find my TNSNAMES file.
    I am able to  connect and load data with SQL Developer; so SQL developer is able to find the TNSNAMES file
    However SQL Developer will not let me load a file this big
    I have also tried to load the file within Apex  (SQL Workshop/ Utilities) but again, the file is too big.
    So it seems like SQL Loader is the only option
    I did find one post online that said to set an environment variable with the path to the TNSNAMES file, but that didn't work..
    Not sure what else to try or where to look
    thanks

    Hi,
    You must have more than one tnsnames file or multiple installations of oracle. What i suggest you do (as I'm sure will be mentioned in ed's link that you were already pointed at) is the following (* i assume you are on windows?)
    open a command prompt
    set TNS_ADMIN=PATH_TO_DIRECTOT_THAT_CONTAINS_CORRECT_TNSNAMES_FILE (i.e. something like set TNS_ADMIN=c:\oracle\network\admin)
    This will tell oracle use the config files you find here and no others
    then try sqlldr user/pass@db (in the same dos window)
    see if that connects and let us know.
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • Dataload(without rule file)hangs on EAS on loading data thru exported file.

    I am trying to do a data load to a database though a file I exported earlier and the data load just hangs after taking in the text file. It hangs where it says "Press escape or cancel button to terminate the current operation." It is a very small text file that am loading data from. I have to kill the ESSSVR process for that particular application to get the EAS back to do other tasks. Am able to do all other tasks just fine. Also on our Prod environment we do not have this issue and am able to load data thru exported text files just fine. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
    Thanks,
    Ted.

    The Prod and Dev Environments are exactly the same and no additional patches were applied on either. It is not a ASO Cube either. This happens for all the applications in Dev and This is what the application Log says(see below), I cleared the dabase before loading it.

  • Loading data from SQL server to Oracle database

    i want to create one table in oracle db from table in sql server. Table is huge it got 97,456,789 records.
    I created db link (HS) in oracle database which is pointing to sql server. i can select that table from oracle thru db link.
    select * from "dbo"."t1@dblink;
    i fired below create table.
    create table t2 nologging parallel (degree=3) as select * from "dbo"."t1@dblink;
    and its taking long time.... but its running...
    is there any alternate method to do this and and populate table in oracle db faster.
    Please advise. thanks.

    is there any alternate method to do this and and populate table in oracle db faster.Part of the performance overhead is pulling that data from SQL-Server to Oracle across the network link between them. This can be sped up by compressing the data first - and then transferring that across the network.
    For example: using +bcp+ to export the data on the SQL-Server box to a CSV file, compress/zip the file, scp/sftp the file to Oracle, and then unzipping it there. Parallel and direct load processing can now be done using SQL*Loader to load the CSV into Oracle.
    If this is a Linux/Unix base system, then the unzip/decompress process can be run in parallel with the SQL*Loader process by creating a pipe between the two - where the unzip process writes uncompressed data into the pipe and SQL*Loader reads and loads data as it becomes available via the pipe.
    Alternatively, you can do you own PQ processing. Let's say the data is date ranged. You can create a procedure on Oracle that looks something like this:
    {code}
    create or replace procedure CopyDay( day date ) is
    begin
    insert /*+ append */ into local_tab select * from remote_tab@remotedb where col_day = day;
    -- add logging info, commit, etc.
    end;
    {code}
    You can now start 10 or more of these for different days and run it in the background using DBMS_JOB.

  • Problem in Loading Data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    I am a university student and using ODI for my final project on real-time data warehousing. I am trying to load data from MS SQL Server 2000 into Oracle 10g target table. Everything goes fine until I execute the interface for the initial load. When I choose the CKM Oracle(Create unique index on the I$ table) km, the following step fails:
    21 - Integration - Prj_Dim_RegionInterface - Create Unique Index on flow table
    Where Prj_Dim_Region is the name of my target table in Oracle.
    The error message is:

    I am using a surrogate key column in my target table alongwith the natural key. The natural key is populated by the primary key of my source table, but for the surrogate key, I have created a sequence in my oracle schema where the target table exists and have used the following code for mapping:
    <%=snpRef.getObjectName( "L" , "SQ_PRJ_DIM_REGION" , "D" )%>.nextval
    I have chosen to execute this code on target.
    Among my attempts to solve this problem was to set Create Index option of the CKM Oracle(Create Index for the I$ Table) to No so that it wont create any index on the flow table. I also tried to use the simple CKM Oracle km . Both solutions allowed the interface to execute successfully without any errors, but the data was not loaded into the target table.
    When I right-click on the Prj_Dim_Region data store and choose Data, it shows empty. Pressing the SQL button in this data store shows a dialog box " New Query" where I see this query:
    select * from NOVELTYFURNITUREDW.PRJ_DIM_REGION
    But when i press OK to run it, I get this error message:

    Hi Cezar,
    Can u plz help me with this scenario?
    I have one Oracle data model with 19 source tables and one SQL Server data model with 10 target tables. I have created 10 interfaces which use JournalizedDataOnly on one of the tables in the interface; e.g in interface for DimCustomer target table, I have 2 tables, namely Customer and Address, but the journalizing filter appear only on Customer table and this option is disabled for Address automatically.
    Now I want to create a package using OdiWaitForLog event detection. Is it possible to put all these 10 interfaces in just one package to populate the target tables? It works fine when I have only one interface and I use the name of one table in the interface for Table Name parameter of OdiWaitForLogData event, but when I try a comma seperated list of table names[Customer, Address] this error happens
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    and if I use this method <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","model_code","logical_schema","D")%>, I get this error
    "-CDC_SET_NAME=Exception getObjectName("L", "model_code", "logical_schema", "D") : SnpLSchema.getLSchemaByName : SnpLschema does not exist" "
    Please let me know how to make it work?
    Do I need to create separate data models each including only those tables which appear in their corresponding interface and package? Or do I need to create multiple packages each with only one journalized interface to populate only one target table?
    Thank you for your time in advance.
    Regards,
    Neel

  • Error while loading data using SQL*Loader

    Hi All,
    I am now in process of loading data from MS SQL to Oracle Database.
    I am getting the data in excel format and i will convert them into csv.
    Upto converting everything is working fine.
    In MS SQL, table columns are case sensitive.
    So i created those tables in oracle db as same.
    There is one column "MaxNumber" which is of type float(49).
    The column is case sensitive.
    in the control file first i given as
    "MaxNumber" "TO_NUMBER(:MaxNumber,'99,999.99')"
    After executing the SQL*Loader i am getting the error
    SQL*Loader-466: Column MAXNUMBER does not exist in table TABLEONE.
    I changed the control file entry as
    "MaxNumber" "TO_NUMBER(:"MaxNumber",'99,999.99')"
    After the execution i got the error
    SQL*Loader-350: Syntax error at line 13.
    Expecting "," or ")", found "MaxDiscount".
    "MaxNumber" "TO_NUMBER(:"MaxNumber",'99,999.99')"
    Please Guide me in this issue.
    Regards
    Salih KM

    What I'm saying is, verify the column name. Dont post if not possible.
    Example follows, with one table intentionally "hidden".
    SQL> create table "tEsT" ("MaxNumber" float, "MaxnumbeR" number);
    SQL> select table_name,column_name from user_tab_columns where table_name like 't%';
    TABLE_NAME                     COLUMN_NAME
    tEsT                           MaxNumber
    tEsT                           MaxnumbeR
    teST                           iD
    teST                           MaxNumberHth,

  • Loading data by sql loader in oracle 10g on linux

    I am trying to load data in Oracle 10g on linux by using sql loader, but getting error
    Problem in log showing that field length of SURNAME field is more than table field size.
    Following is the error in log file of sql loader
    Record 21: Rejected - Error on table TABLE1, column
    SURNAME.
    ORA-12899: value too large for column SURNAME (actual: 65, maximum: 64)
    and it is evident from following controlfile that i am using trim to discard any space then why it is giving an error.
    LOAD DATA
    TRUNCATE
    INTO TABLE TABLE1
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    ID INTEGER EXTERNAL,
    OPTION1 CHAR,
    REF1 CHAR,
    OTHER_REF CHAR,
    TITLE "TRIM(:TITLE)",
    FORENAME "TRIM(:FORENAME)",
    SURNAME "TRIM(:SURNAME)",
    JOINT_TITLE "TRIM(:JOINT_TITLE)",
    JOINT_FORENAME "TRIM(:JOINT_FORENAME)",
    JOINT_SURNAME "TRIM(:JOINT_SURNAME)",
    I checked the bad file and count number of characters, they are 64 characters.
    When i am inserting individual record from bad file by sql loader, it is loading

    Probably your database character set is multi-byte. That is %UTF8 or AL16UTF16%
    Post your NLS Database Parameters value
    select * from nls_database_parameters;
    In General varchar2(65) by default means 65 BYTES unless
    you have changed your Defalut NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS parameter from BYTE to CHAR.
    With best regards

  • Problem with loading data using SQL LOADER

    I am having following files with me when i run following command at command prompt
    sqlldr scott/tiger@genuat control =c:\emp.ctl
    then giving error as
    SQL Loader 500: unable to open file
    SQL Loader 553: file not found
    emp.dat file data
    1111,sneha,CLERK     7902,17-Dec-80,800,20
    2222,manoj,SALESMAN,7698,20-Feb-72     ,1600,6500,30
    3333,sheela,MANAGER,7839,8-Apr-81,2975,20
    emp.ctl file
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'c:\emp.dat'
    APPEND
    INTO TABLE emp
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    (EMPNO,
    ENAME ,
    JOB,
    MGR,
    HIREDATE,
    SAL ,
    COMM,
    DEPTNO)
    can anyone tell me what is problem in above file why data is not loaded in table??

    I don't find any problem if you invoke the SQLLDR using the below command(and if you are certain that the control file resides in the C: drive).
    sqlldr scott/tiger@genuat control =c:\emp.ctl
    If this doesn't work then invoke the SQLLDR from the C: prompt itself.
    sqlldr scott/tiger@genuat control=emp.ctl
    It would locate the control file and check whether the sqlldr completes successfully?

  • Load data with SQL Loader link field between CSV file and Control File

    Hi all,
    in a SQL Loader control file, how do you specify link with field in CSV file and Control file?
    E.g. if I wat to import the record in table TEST (col1, col2, col3) with data in csv file BUT in different position. How to do this?
    FILE CSV (with variable position):
    test1;prova;pippo;Ferrari;
    xx;yy;hello;by;
    In the table TEST i want that col1 = 'prova' (xx),
    col2 = 'Ferrari' (yy)
    col3 = default N
    the others data in CSV file are ignored.
    so:
    load data
    infile 'TEST.CSV'
    into table TEST
    fields terminated by ';'
    col1 ?????,
    col2 ?????,
    col3 CONSTANT "N"
    Thanks,
    Attilio

    With '?' mark i mean " How i can link this COL1 with column in csv file ? "

  • Loading data from SQL server 2000 to Oracle using OWB 10.2

    Hi All,
    I have to move data from SQL server to Oracle using OWB. Any idea how to connect to SQL Server thru the OWB design centre console. There is no detail available in the documentation. OWB cocumentation says that "OWB Integrator for Oracle DB & Apps 3.0" is available to connect to Non-Oracle Database (including Sybase, Informix, ODBC).

    Hi,
    yes, you can use ODBC and configure HSODBC on the database server to create a database link to the sql-server. If your oracle server is microsoft based you are ready, otherwise you have to buy an odbc-driver for linux, unix or whatever you use.
    Ciao Stephan

    I have a simillar problem, I also want to use a sequence when loading data by the SQL Loader.
    My control file is:
    load data
    infile '0testdata.txt'
    into table robertl.tbltest
    fields terminated by X'09'
    trailing nullcols
    (redbrojunos,
    broj,
    dolazak,
    odlazak nullif odlazak=blanks,
    komentar nullif komentar=blanks)
    And the datafile is:
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     1368     17.06.2003 08:02:46     17.06.2003 16:17:18
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     2363     17.06.2003 08:18:18     17.06.2003 16:21:52
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     7821     17.06.2003 08:29:22     17.06.2003 16:21:59
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     0408     17.06.2003 11:20:27     17.06.2003 18:33:00     ispit
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     1111     17.06.2003 11:30:58     17.06.2003 16:09:34     Odlazak na ispit
    robertl.brojilo.nextval     6129     17.06.2003 14:02:42     17.06.2003 16:23:23     seminar
    But all records were rejected by the Loader, for every record I get the error:
    Record 1: Rejected - Error on table ROBERTL.TBLTEST, column REDBROJUNOS.
    ORA-01722: invalid number

    Hello:
    You could consider using Oracle Heterogeneous Services to do this. If your Oracle database is on a Windows platform the link below shows you how to make a connection to SqlServer from an Oracle database.
