Loading external HTML with global context attributes

I am trying to use Google Finance to load a stock quote in an HTML tile.
In the Mosaic 9.5 samples the tile uri is http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=${application.symbol}. This does not load the iframe in my CAF project.
In fact, I tried configuring my .cxml as
http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=ADBE
http://www.google.com/finance?q=ADBE
http://www.google.com/finance
but none of these uri’s loads the iframe. The only uri that does load successfully is
http://www.google.com
What am I missing?
Steve

The Brokerage example in the Concepts sample package for ES3 now
uses a different finance website due to a change made to the Google finance site.

• How to load external DLLs with C++ interface in TestStand?

Hi,
Can you please let me know how would I load external DLLs with C++ interface in TestStand?
Regards.

TestStand 3.x can only call static class C++ methods. TestStand cannot call methods on a C++ object because TestStand does not know how to enstantiate the C++ object. In TestStand 3.x, there is a online help topic called "Exporting Class Methods and Functions in Visual Studio .NET".

• How we can load external html or php file in flash?

Hi there,
I want to show my php's file desing in flash..
i m getting data through database in php file and it has
table... so I want to show that data in my flash movie...
Please help me ..
How can I load external html or php file in flash?
If any other way is there then plz tell me.....
thanx

No. Flash can only display html content in textfields and only supports a very limited number of html tags (look up the htmlText property of TextFields). So to display an html/php file is not possible.

• Load External HTML/Website in Flash (urgent)

Hi all,
I've found the codes to load the external html and text in
flash at run time, but I when I tested most of the html sites
cannot show very well at all such as videos and swf advanced tag in
html.So is there any way to load external website into flash at
runtime?
Thanks

you can display it in a popup window or in the same window or in an iframe in the same html page that displays your swf.
When you say this, do you mean I can create an iFrame on the same html page that displays my swf, and have it be dynamically populated by what the user clicks on the swf?
yes, exactly.
use getULR() (as2) or navigateToURL() (as3) with the 1st parameter being the html page you want to display and the 2nd parameter being the iframe "name" property.

• Unloading a loaded external SWF with a close button on the external SWF to unload

I have found some discussion on this topic but I am still having trouble getting it to work and was hoping to get some help here.
Here I have a file: http://www.dril-quip.com/test/main.swf
I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)
If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent.
So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.
below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.
var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();
btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{
var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf");
bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest);
stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I just need to have my links load my modules and the remove them when the close buttong is hit on the loaded swf. I promise I have done searches and I admit I have found asnwers but still they are not working. I found the code below:
Main FLA:
function removeF() {
removeChild(bigboreLoader);
var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();
btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{
var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf");
bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest);
stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
EXTERNAL FLA:
btnClose2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, bigborecontent);
function bigborecontent(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
MovieClip(parent.parent).removeF();
I think I have a misunderstanding of the code. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

This was the original code I got:
Main FLA: (on AS layer inside DropDownButton Movie Object)
function removeF() {
removeChild(myLoader);
var myLoader:Loader=new Loader ();
page1_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, page1content);
function page1content(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
var myURL:URLRequest=new URLRequest("page1.swf");
myLoader.load(myURL);
addChild(myLoader);
EXTERNAL FLA: (on main time line of this file)
close_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeMC);
function closeMC(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
MovieClip(parent.parent).removeF();
Main.FLA
myLoader=bigboreLoader (my new loader)
page1_mc=btnbb2 (the button who event will call external swf)
page1content = bigborecontent (name given to SWF being loaded???)
myURL=bigboreRequest (my new URLrequest for bigbore)
page1.swf=moduletemplate.swf (actual address of what I am loading)
External.FLA
close_mc=button that will close external swf
closeMC=movie clip to close?

The loaded swf has a stop() an intro animation and on the last frame have.
dispatchEvent(new Event("removeMe", true));

your isse begins here ..
loadSection()
you use the same loader to not only load files but you are tyring to use it to target the movieClip you also want to play.
The issue is loader. The loader can only reference one load at a time.. otherwise you screw up your listeners and the ability to unload files properly.
You should load all files in Your current system as its own variable so that while one loads you can still control a movie.
So what type of end transitions do your files have?
What exactly with this seems like youre getting an issue.. looking at it looks alright aside from the fact that some methods are not used at all by your class

• Load external html into a Layer?

I've created a framework of a kids' site using CSS layers to
overlap a Skyline image overtop of another 2 layers, one showing a
BG image of the sky, the other showing the scrolling content.
For another section of the site, I would like to load an
external HTML into the layer behind the skyline. Specifically, I
would like a Blog to load and scroll behind the skyline. Anyone
know if it is possible to load an external html page into a layer,
and if so, how does one go about it?
The (unfinished) page in question can be seen here:
http://www.marcsobservatory.com/mo_mainpage6.html
The stylesheet can be found here:
http://www.marcsobservatory.com/mo_styles2.css
Thanks!

is the first frame of your loaded swf's empty? if yes, then no problem using _levels.
if not, do you mind a momentary flash when your next swf loads and before its _alpha is assigned 0 and then faded-in? if you don't mind, then no problem using _levels.
if you do mind that momentary flash, then using _levels will be more complex than using empty target movieclips. is there some good reason to use _levels instead of target movieclips?

• How do I write an external class with global constants?

Hi you all !
First I want to explain what exactly I want to do:
I have an application that should run in different resolutions. The app runs fullscreen, and I don't use Layouts or something, just a single Frame with a Graphics Object.
Now to handle the different resolutions, I want to write an external class with some constants to use. The usage in my main Class should be something like this:
public
class blah
private Constants myConstants;
public blah()
if (highResolution)
myConstants = new hiResConstants();
else
myConstants = new loResConstants();
System.println(String.valueOf(myConstants.SCREEN_WIDTH);
}or somthing like that. The important fact is that I can choose the constants at runtime and that I am NOT forced to use methods to get the values, cause something like
System.println(String.valueOf(myConstants.getScreenWidth());sux if you have methods using 5 or more parameters.
Anybody out there who understood my problem and can help me??? PLEASE?
best regards,
Skippy

First, what's so much worse about
System.println(myConstants.getScreenWidth());
than
System.println(myConstants.ScreenWidth);
Is the extra five characters really that bad? (Note
you don't need the String.valueOf method call.)Well actually it was a wrong example I gave here, but it's not the call that makes me shake but the implementation:
public int screenWidth = 1024;vs.
public
int getScreenWidth()
return 1024;
}Here it makes a bigger difference, even when you think of managing about 100 or even more constants.
Second, why do you have methods that take five or more
parameters!?Well, maybe this example show up what I mean:
if (cursorIsInArea(100,100,200,200,areaId))
doSomeStuff();Ok, I could use Rectangles here, but if you think of the timing here (I draw 30 frames / sec and this check comes about every frame or the animation would be choppy) I refuse to create an Object everytime I make this call.
Btw: Is it worth thinking about the time of execution like I did in this example? OO is a neat thing, but is it that fast?
I don't think isCursorInArea(new Rectangle(100,100,200,200),areaId) is such a great idea, but I might be wrong.
It sounds like you're trying to compound a bad design
with an even worse design for no good reason!Well, I'm not that experienced Java programmer to judge about that, but I (and my profs at university too) found my codes well structured and designed so far.
Skippy
PS: the string.valueOf(123) call came from cut&paste:
system.out.println(string.valueOf(number1)+string.valueOf(number2));Try this without the function.... ;-)

• Loading external png with transperancy

Hi,
Im trying to create an as3.0 navigation with a few buttons.
Each button is a png image.
When im importing images to the stage i dont have any transperancy issues but the problem is that they are not smooth enough, especially
because im animating them using TweenLite.
I thought that the only way to do it properly is to load all the images using as3 into bitmap objects and then use the smoothing property.
The problem is that everytime that i assign the png to a bitmap object i lose the transperancy information and i get a white background...
Anyone knows how can i keep the transperancy information from the png onto the bitmap object ?
Thanks

Here's a bit of code that loads a png with transparency, smooths it, and places it on stage.
var a:Loader = new Loader();
a.load(new URLRequest("spider.png"));
a.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);
function done(e:Event){
var bit:Bitmap = e.target.content;
if(bit != null){
bit.smoothing = true;
addChild(bit);

• Loading external SWF with masked content - get size of masked area

I am loading an external swf using the SWFLoader component. The swf that is being loaded is masked so that only a portion is being shown. However, when it's loaded the actual size of the swf (loader.content.width && loader.content.height) is the complete swf including the masked area. Therefore, the loaded swf does not display properly in the itemrenderer Is there a way to to grab the size of the just the masked area as opposed to getting the size of the entire swf's contents (area not masked)?
One item to note that is complicating the issue, is that these are swf files that have already been created and there are many of them. In some instances, the size of the stage matches up with the size of the masked area. In other instances, the stage is larger (or possibly smaller) than the masked area movieclip as well as possibly the actual size of the movieclip (w/o the mask).
I am currently loading the external swf in using a Loader. Once loaded, I make a copy (screen shot) of the swf by creating a bmp of the loader.content.This is done as I don't want to have any animations being shown on screen at this moment. I am setting the size of the bmp using using loader.content.width & loader.content.height. I then set the SWFLoader.source to the bitmap.

Here's the code I am using to load the swf:
<fx:Script>

protected function application1_applicationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void {
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onSWFLoaded);
loader.load(new URLRequest("c:\\Flex Testing\\FA warns Mr. Jones.swf"), context);
private function onSWFLoaded(event:Event):void {
bmData=new BitmapData(loader.content.width, loader.content.height, true, 0x990000);
bmData.draw(loader.content, new Matrix());
bmp=new Bitmap(bmData);
swfLoader.source=bmp;
addElement(swfLoader);
with (swfLoader)
setStyle('verticalAlign', "middle");
setStyle('horizontalAlign', 'center');
verticalCenter=0;
horizontalCenter=0
scaleContent=true;
maintainAspectRatio=true;
addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onClick,false,0,true)
useHandCursor = true;
buttonMode = true;
width=200;
height=200;
loader.unload()
loader=null;

</fx:Script>

• Problem in loading external HTML content using SpryHTMLDataSet in Firefox

I have a very simple placement of the contents of an HTML DIV within a subsidiary HTML file (statespecificassets.html) into a main HTML document, using SpryHTMLDataSet in Dreamweaver CS4.
The relevant bits of code in the main HTML doc:
In the header:

And at the point of inclusion of the external DIV:

{column0}

The problem: This works fine in Safari 4.0 on a Mac, and IE7 on a PC. It doesn't work in Firefox 3.0.11 (latest version) on Mac or PC: In firefox the reference content simply doesn't load. The only way I can get it to work in Firefox is if I place the main HTML doc and its subsidiary reference HTML file in exactly the same directory/ on the same level, and adjust the script reference accordingly ( var ds1 = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("statespecificassets.html", "NN_Data_s3a"); ) ...But I can't/ don't want to alter my directory structure, because multiple files in other directories will need to use the reference file.
Is there some other way of making it all-browser compatible -- possibly by adjusting a relevant bit of code in SpryHTMLDataSet.js in the Spry Assets? .. I've attached the SpryHTMLDataSet.js file for reference.
Thank you to any kind soul who might have the nous to solve this.

This is the latest version of SpryHTMLDataSet: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/preview/SpryHTMLDataSet.js
Check out if works for, if not, please provide us with a online url.

• Loading External Swf with Other Swf Dependencies

I'm trying to load an old project into a new project via swf. My old project had local external swf dependencies.In other words A.swf is the old project swf and it loads in B.swf and C.swf. I want to load A.swf into my new project. All the .swf file are local and will be loaded locally. Using the url and loader to load the old project's swf into the new project, I get an error that says that the stage must not be null. I have put A.swf, B.swf, and C.swf all within the same folder together in the new project. Is the correct approach? I'd like to know if this is even possible and if so how should I do it? Thanks in advance!

load within that particular .swf do not. The images are external
and load using this action script.
btn1.onRelease = function (){
loadMovie ("IMG_2812.jpg", _root.photo.empty)
They load fine using just the .swf file but when the .swf is
loaded within another document it doesnt load the imgs.

add
this._lockroot = true;
to frame 1 of the main timeline of your external swf.
retest.

• Loading external swf fonts created with fontswf, loaded with a Loader, compatible with iOS

Let me immediately start out by saying that I do in fact have a current working solution for using embedded fonts, generated by fontswf and working in an AIR ActionScript mobile application, and also currently working fine with iOS.
My current app needs CFF fonts, so I currently use the fontswf tool to pre-generate the .swfs using:
fontswf -4 -a [SomeAlias] -o [SomeFont.swf] [SomeFont.ttf]
and then I am currently embedding them in my app source code .as for compilation using:
[Embed(source="/swf/SomeFont.swf", symbol="SomeAlias")]
public static var SomeFontClass:Class;
I then have no problem registering them using Font.registerFont(SomeFontClass) and everything works fine.
However, I would prefer to take the use of these swf fonts one step further and load them dynamically using a Loader so that I do not have to take the hit of having multiple CFF font swfs embedded in the main compiled SWF and so that I could even load an unknown future set of fonts without having to supply them as part of the app build.
Now I have seen and read many blogs and tutorials where people have exported font swf from Flash Builder where you add an explicit 'Class' name or even made standalone .as static files compiled into standalone swfs only including the two lines:
[Embed(source="/swf/SomeFont.swf", symbol="SomeAlias")]
public static var SomeFontClass:Class;
so that you also have a 'Class' involved. Then people use some form of appropriate applicationDomain.getDefinition("className") as Class
to pull out the class for the font registration.
My question is, how does one perform the same font loading and registration of fonts using a Loader only loading the .swfs produced directly from fontswf?
It seems only a DefineFont4 is tagged in the swf, there doesn't seem to be a 'Class' per se to call on.
More importantly, iOS apps cannot load external swfs with code in them, so my understanding is any extra wrapped swf that would contain a custom Class technique would fail the iOS requirement of only having one main SWF with any ActionScript compiled code.
Is there an alternative to the 'Class' technique by grabbing the DefineFont4 tagged resource from the swf and instantiating a proper working Font class from that? One that would still be compatible with the restrictions placed on AIR mobile apps running on iOS?

Ironically, just after posting this, Adobe released AIR 3.5 beta onto labs, and added multiple SWF support for iOS.
While this new support makes it easier to manage your content across multiple SWFs and technically allows you to use the class based separate .swfs for each font if desired, the system still requires that all these SWFs be present at compile time when making the final app .ipa for iOS.
So this still doesn't solve trying to load fonts after the app is already built. For example, as part of a downloaded in-app purchase mechanism.

• Loading external swf not complete

Hi, I'm trying to load external swf (with more than one frame and actionscript 3 on every frame - I used there "timeline" coding) from my main swf.
code for loading external swf into main swf:
var loader01:Loader;
function openGame1(evt:Event):void
loader01 = new Loader();
var requestSWF01:URLRequest = new URLRequest("game01.swf");
loader01.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, processHandler);
loader01.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, initHandler);
loader01.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, errorHandler);
loader01.load(requestSWF01);
addChild(loader01);
function processHandler(evt:ProgressEvent):void
var loaded:Number=evt.target.bytesLoaded;
var total:Number=evt.target.bytesTotal;
var stav:Number=loaded/total;
loaded_txt.text=(Math.round(stav*100))+" %";
function initHandler(evt:Event):void{
loaded_txt.text="";
function errorHandler(evt:IOErrorEvent):void
trace ("Error: " + evt.text);
I found out that this works only for loading swf, which has only one frame (and all actionscript on that frame)... It seems that if there are more frames, than it will not load complete swf (hmm maybe it is caused, because not all objects on frames are export in first frame). Preloading starts but after for example 20 % the event.INIT is fired and the external swf starts to play (and crashes..).
You can see this here http://bvyborcik.xf.cz/ If you click on the blue building on the left with blinking text "Start hry" you will see what happens - preloading is not completed and after clicking on first floor btn, the swf crashes...
Please is there a solution for this kind of problem? Any help or pointing is welcome.
regards Boris

just curious, is the file you want to load the swf into set up exactly the same way with the same stage size, fps, and layers?
