Loading JVM problem

Hi,
I am loading JVM ( 1.5 Ver) from Windows Application.
JVM gets failed for the following JVM parameter -Xmx is 850MB. It is getting success for -Xmx is 845MB.
My Application should support upto -Xmx value upto 2GB.
May I know the reason why loading for JVM for -Xmx is 850MB is failed?
Same application I tested in different system, In that system application gets success when -Xmx is 850MB, and it is failed when -Xmx is 875MB.
Any additional parameters are required to be added while loading JVM?
Any pre requisites of system environment to support 2GB(or >850MB) of heap memory for the process?

I downloaded and installed the following onto windows 98 SE :
JavaSE installed @ C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2
Java2 SDK installed @ C:\Program Files\j2sdk_nb
NetBeans installed @ C:\Program Files\j2sdk_nb\netbeans3.5
When I start NetBeans using the desktop shortcut, I get IDE Alert "Cannot Load jvm.dll"
Can anyone explain to me what I have done wrong and what I have to do in order to put it right.
I found some stuff about editing 'paths to jvm.dll' but I have found 5 jvm.dll files... which one do I use?

I have just been suffering with the same problem and managed to find a solution based on answers in these very forums
What worked for me was to add an entry into the ide.cfg file which told netbeans which folder my JDK was installed in.
All you need to do is add the following line into the config file (which is in the bin folder under wherever you installed NetBeans 3.5) and it should start up (obviously you will need to change the folder name to match wherever you have your Java development kit)
-jdkhome d:\JDK1.3

Creative Zen loading music problem

"Creative Zen loading music problem?I just started using a creative zen (DVP-FL000, 6Gb) player and i'm having?a few issues copying music onto it.
I have loaded the latest firmware (.2.03e) onto it and formatted it so was clean when i started loading my music on.
I'm using winamp on winxp to copy my music to the player, but occasionally i get tracks that wont copy to the player. Winamp just shows 'unspecified error'. If a file fails to copy it will never copy, no matter how many times i try. Somtimes its a random track, sometimes an entire album.
So i also tried copying the tracks that wont copy using windows explorer, it appears to copy but the file never appears on the device. The same is also true when i try it on my Windows7 laptop with explorer, it will appear to be copying but then part way through it will report that the device has stopped responding.
It only seems to happen with windows media files, all my mp3s copy fine. The files that dont copy probably represent about 0% of my music but play fine on all my other players.
sorry for the long post, just really scratching my head with this one!

Same "loading themes" problem for me, with iDVD 7.2.
I tried deleting the preferences file and started again idvd, nothing.
The only thing i can do to have it work is use another account, as a matter of fact. But i'd rather use my account, so i'd like to reinstall idvd. but how can i do it?

Actually, iDVD used to work on the other account, because it was kind of blank (there was no video in it). I've just created a new imovie project, on this second account : now there are files in the "Videos" folder (sorry for my english, i'm not sure what's the word on a mac in english, but it french the folder is named "Séquences"), and iDVD freezes again. Even on the second account.
So, to sum up: *as soon as there is one file in the Video folder* (whether a imovie file or any other, like any .avi file), iDVD cant open and freezes...
dont you think that it could be worth reinstalling iDVD? but how? Or maybe there are other applications to make DVDs?
(all software is up to date on my mac)

AppServer: Weblogic 5.1 SP6
Symptoms:
I've updated our application from Cocoon 1.7.4 to Cocoon2. After I
figured out what libraries I need on the Weblogic's classpath, I managed
to envoke the MyServlet (MyServlet extends CocoonServlet). The technique
I am using is the one I used with the Cocoon v1.7.4: extend Cocoon
servlet and wrap the HttpServletRequest in MyRequest to provide the XML
content. I changed the line <map:generators default="request"> in
sitemap.xmap to specify the location of the source. Configuration files
seem to be read correctly and the file
<myWebAppContext>/WEB-INF/_tmp_war/org/apache/cocoon/www/sitemap_xmap.java
is generated (but there is no class file generated)!
I looked at the cocoon.log file and looks like a class loader security
problem: the \WEB-INF\_tmp_war gets locked! Is there any workaround this
problem? Any help is much appreciated!

AppServer: Weblogic 5.1 SP6
Symptoms:
I've updated our application from Cocoon 1.7.4 to Cocoon2. After I
figured out what libraries I need on the Weblogic's classpath, I managed
to envoke the MyServlet (MyServlet extends CocoonServlet). The technique
I am using is the one I used with the Cocoon v1.7.4: extend Cocoon
servlet and wrap the HttpServletRequest in MyRequest to provide the XML
content. I changed the line <map:generators default="request"> in
sitemap.xmap to specify the location of the source. Configuration files
seem to be read correctly and the file
<myWebAppContext>/WEB-INF/_tmp_war/org/apache/cocoon/www/sitemap_xmap.java
is generated (but there is no class file generated)!
I looked at the cocoon.log file and looks like a class loader security
problem: the \WEB-INF\_tmp_war gets locked! Is there any workaround this
problem? Any help is much appreciated!

Cannot load jvm.dll

JDEVELOPER CAN'T LOAD JVM

I try to Install Jdeveloper 3.1 in a directory different from the default directory. It give me an error " I can't
load JVM" when I try to use Jdeveloper.
If I try to install in default directory every thing goes well.

I get this message when I start Jdev.
I install Jdev in a win95 (release 4.00.9500b ) PC with 80M RAM.
at first I try to install Jdev (full option) in a different directory from default because my c drive was full. I get the error.
then I free some space on drive c, I disinstall Jdev and reinstall with mimimal space requirement (compact option) on default directory and every thing goes well.
The same thing happen with Jdev 3.0.
Anyway, maybe I have understand what happens; with a full
drive c swap file could not grow and so i get the error. When I free space every thing
goes well not because of the different directory but because of free space.

How to load JVM without specifying jvm.dll

How can I load JVM from native C++ code withoutknowing the path of jvm.dll?

If on Windows, use the registry to find the place where the JRE has been installed. Take a look at the file java_md.c in the launcher subdirectory of the src.zip file supplied along with the JDK. Specifically, you will probably be most interested in the GetStringFromRegistry and GetPublicJREHome functions there.
In the registry, look for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment. That has a number of values you will probably want.
If not on Windows, I really don't know how to find the location of the JRE installation without it being configured in an environment variable, or being hardcoded.

Win2000 & 1.4.0 Beta2: Could not load jvm.dll

Question: How does 1.4 Beta2 find it's resources?
When trying to run Install Anywhere 4.5, I get the error message:

OK, I have about 4 different SDKs installed and I heard that if you deinstall everything else and just install 1.4 Beta 2 - it supposetly works. This is not an option, if you try to install/upgrade an application where the user does not know that a VM is.
The environment:
JAVA_HOME is set to a 1.4.0 Beta 2 JRE and the PATH is also pointing to the \bin directory ... and in their server/client sub-directories is the jvm.dll
I guess, that some registry entry is used ... but where do I find that?

You're running Java2 from "D:\Compiere2\jre". Does the file "D:\Compiere2\jre\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll" exist? And is this the installation which is Java 1.4?
As far as where the registry entry is kept, it is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/JavaSoft. However, this value only seems to be used when you run the java.exe which Sun install in the Windows system directory.

IDE Cannot load jvm.dll - what fixes this?

I have Sun One Community Edition installed.
I then installed Java web start again and now when I try and run Sun One Community Edition it return the following error:

Why cant sun package 1 product, rather than having to install Sun ONE App Server, then find it dosnt work, then install J2EE to fix that, now find Sun One does not work...

Maybe an incompatible jvm.dll is now in the PATH? I've never used Sun One but it's one possibility...

Multiple instances of the same applet loaded causes problem

I have a java applet that has several classes in the project. The applet has a JTable a JButton and a JLabel control. The applet is displayed within an HTML page. The problem is that if a user opens the same html page more than once with the applet in it, only the last applet loaded receives the screen updates.
For example in one senario. I have an error message that displays in the Label control once they click on the button.
The user opens the html page and the applet is loaded (window 1). The user then opens the same html page again (window 2) with window 1 still open. If the user clicks on the Button in window 1, the error message is displayed in the window 2 applet.
Originally I had some static variables. Thinking it was being used globally by the JVM so I removed all of them and it still happens. I have tried using both the Applet and Object tag. But it still happens.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions on how to make the applet update the instance that recieved the events and not just the last one that was loaded?

You need to look at applet classloader issues. If applets have the same archive list and come from the same codebase, they have the same classloader. A class is namespaced by it's class + classloader. Any statics in a class with a classloader will be shared. If you instead make it such that your applets have unique classloaders (which you can't change for unsigned applets by yourself) by changing the codebase, that would be one solution.
For other solutions, I recommend searching the forum. This issue comes up a lot.

Can't load jvm.dll in Vista

I have a bizarre problem with JDK1.6.0_03 and Windows Vista. I am trying to compile and run a C program that calls a Java method, using the invocation API. In the past, this worked like a charm, provided I had c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_03\jre\bin\client on the PATH.
It no longer works. I get an error message that jvm.dll was not found and that Windows will notify me if it finds a solution to my problem. (I am not holding my breath.)
I then try to load the library manually:

Can't load jvm on W7x64

Not sure if this is the best forum, but I'm hoping that someone here has run into this same problem...
My Win32/MFC application uses some java code via the JNI interface. I look in the Registry to find the jre path (RuntimeLib) and then I use ::LoadLibrary to load the jvm. On XP and W7x32 this works. However, on W7x64, even though I correctly find the path to the jvm, LoadLibrary fails with err=126, cannot find component. I assume this has something to do with Wow64 but I don't know what. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I discovered the solution and thought I would reply to my own question so that maybe someone else will be helped. (That will probably be me in a few months when I've forgotten what I did...)
First, based on another suggestion I got, I used Process Monitor <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx> to trace the loading process. When I did that I noticed that a different dll - msvcr71.dll - was not being loaded. That dll lives one directory level above the jvm.dll. The problem was obviously an incomplete path. So, I added a Registry query to get JavaHome, added \bin to the path and called SetDllDirectory.

JVMPI class load event problem

I'm trying to write a simple profiler using JVM Profiler Interface to
display classes loaded while running my application.
For this, I have registered callback to notify two events
JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD and JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK.
Now the problem is that, for some system classes which are loaded
initialy(during JVM initialization) I'm not getting
JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK event. However JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD gets
called for each of them. ( I want .._LOAD_HOOK for all classes)
I gone through some documents/links which says that
JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK will be sent only after
JVMPI_EVENT_JVM_INIT_DONE event is sent.
I want JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK event for all classes, even they
are loaded before JVM initialization is complete.
Is there any way to achieve this? Any work arround?
I'm using J2SDK 1.4.2.

If you also request notification for all subsequently loaded classes (via JVMTI_EVENT_CLASS_FILE_LOAD_HOOK) then after suspending the VM you should have information on all classes loaded since the genesis of the VM.
