Loading Members in Outline

Guy, could you give me a little help?
I'm tryingo to load some data using SQL into an outline, but just after the Essbase finish the load appears the following message:
"Data load contained errors, but may have partially loaded."
The message is correct, I discovere only one line missing.
At the log is written the following message:
"Incorrect Parent [<parent_name>] For Member [<member_name>]"
I'm using Generation load type. And I think the key of the table is correct. What could be happenning?
Thanks in advanced.

I think you have a problem Houston. Actually the problem is you have a member that appears multiple times in your extract with two different parents. You would have loaded the member once and it is trying to move it to the second parent the file defines, but since Allow moves is not specified in the dimension build settings, it is telling you it can't do what you ask.
For example if you have in your load file
Midwest New Mexico
Southwest New Mexico
It will add New Mexico to Midwest, but then when it gets to the row saying New Mexico belongs to Southwest, unless you allow it to move (or set it as a shared member), it can not be added under Southwest. Essbase is telling you it is already in the outline somewhere else

  • How to remove members using Outline Load Utility

    Hi,
I'm new to Outline Load Utility. Currently I'm testing all available options of Outline Load Utility,I'm facing one problem while performing one option.
Te following options are working fine for me:
    1. /M /N
    2. /-H
    3. /-O
But I'm not able to remove the loaded members of the respective dimension using /-R option.
We are using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 Version ,can anyone help me on this
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

Planning Outline data store load process finished with exceptions: not all input records were read due to errors (or an empty input file). 0 data records were read, 0 data records were processed, 0 were successfully loaded, 0 were rejected. There is some problem with the input file, its not even reading a single record.Make sure ur providing the right name and path.
other wise error would be like
*1 data records were read*, 0 data records were processed, 0 were successfully loaded, 0 were rejected.
As John mentioned, below will work for sure
    Parent     Entity     Operation
    Entity     Total_entity     Delete Idescendants

  • Outline Load Utility - associating attributes when loading members

Hi - simple one this I'm sure.
I'm trying to use the Outline Load Utility to load members to a simple custom dimension, which already exists. I want to assign an attribute to each member I am adding.
So I have my data file with the requisite headers including "Attribute Dimension Name" as per the HP admin guide.
I specify member name, parent, alias, and the attribute member I want to associate with the dimension member I am adding, but the utility does not like the header & returns *"unrecognized column header value "Attribute Dimension Name" "*
    here is the script:
    OutlineLoad -f:h:\HYSL\password.txt /S:demodrive /A:MikeTest /U:demoadmin /M /N
    /I:c:\Bootcamp/OLUtest\Dim3.csv /D:Customers /-C /L:c:\Bootcamp\OLUtest\Dim3Load.log
    /X:c:\Bootcamp\OLUtest\Dim3Ldex.exc
here is the top of the file:
    Customers,Parent,Alias: Default,Attribute Dimension Name
    Cust 3,Top 10 Customers,,North
    Cust 4,Top 10 Customers,,South
    Cust 5,Top 10 Customers,,East
    Thx

You have to give the attribute dimension name, so if you have an attribute dimension called "Shop", then your head would be
    Customers,Parent,Alias: Default,Shop
The attribute dimension already has to exist as well.

  • Loading members to Essbase using ODI

    Hi All,
We are planning to use ODI to load members from Oracle database to Essbase using ODI. Should we convert all the dimension tables in Oracle database to Parent-Child relation and then load it or can we use the existing hierarchial structure in Oracle database.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Kannan.

    Hi,
If you reverse engineer an essbase cube it creates columns :- ParentName, MemberName.
When you load metadata into essbase using ODI it will need to be mapped against Parent and Member, to make it easier it would be useful if your source data is in parent/child format.
    Cheers

    Hi All,
I've tried to load data using Outline Load Utility but the data is not loaded into my Essbase.
Here are the step what I've done :
    1. In planning, Administration > Data Load Settings
    - Entity as the data load dimension,
    - Account as the driver dimension and selected Rental, test_desc as the member
    2. The .csv file
Entity, Rental, test_desc, Point-of-View,Data Load Cube Name
    TLT, 100, 100, "FY11,Plan,Working,No Product,No Condition Type,No Vehicle Type,No Term Period,No Term,No Movement, Local, Apr", Retail
    3. Run the Outline Load through cmd
    E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\Planning\planning1>OutlineLoad /A:PLNDEV /U:xyz /M /N /I:E:/testload.csv /D:Entity /L:E:/OutlineLogs /X:E:/outlineLoad.exc

  • Loading comments for members into outline and retrieving UDAs into OBI EE.

Essbase 9.3.1 and Obi EE 10g(the latest)
    1. I want to load some text info into comments for some outline dimension members from relational database but there is no such option(COMMENTS) in Dimension Buid Properties. Did anybody have a try to do it?
    2. Can retrieve text info from UDA рroperties in OBI EE 10g!(I know there is some option in 11g).
    Example
    Dimension Product
    -Bread UDA:Brown
    -Meat UDA:Tasty
    -Car UDA:Heavy
I want to see Brown, Tasty and Heavy in OBI EE.
I can understand whether the Bread Brown or not and whether the Bread Tasty. But I want to get info as written below
    -Bread -Brown 1000
    -Meat UDA -Tasty 1500
    -Car UDA -Heavy 12000

I can do it in EIS, I took a look in the DBAG for a few minutes, but could not find anything. Usually, though, I assume that if I can do it in EIS, then I most certainly can in a load rule, or some such. Just a question of finding how! I am sure someone knows.

Infact those members exist in the Outline.

Check for the double quotes (the one John mentioned). Also I can see that you are taking the approach of Data Load dimension. Is Data load dimension and driver members defined correctly in Planning?

  • Loading Data Using Outline Load Utility - Error

Trying to load some data using Outline Load Utility. I followed the Oracle documentation on this and Under the Administration -> Manage Data Load area I defined Accounts as data load dimension, and period as driver dimension. I then added Jan - Feb as driver members. I wanted to load data for Jan. My data header looks like this:
    Accounts,Jan,Point-of-View,Data Load Cube Name
    acct1, 768, "2010, Ver1, Actuals, entity1, etc" Plan1
The command i typed is this:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\Planning\planning1>outlineload /A:Plan1 /U:Admin /M /I:C:\MockData2.txt /D:Accounts /L:C:\dataload.log /X:c:\dataload.exc

This is version 11.1.2. What am I doing wrong here? I also find it interesting that the command for data load and metadata load is the same as per oracle docs. I guess Planning knows if we're trying to load data or metadata based on the CSV file header?

I don't usually bother with loading data using the outline load utility but as a test on 11.1.2 using the planning sample application I gave it a quick go.
In planning, went to Administration > Data Load Settings > Picked Account as the data load dimension, Period as the driver dimension and selected Jan as a member
    I created a file :-
    Account,Jan,Point-of-View,Data Load Cube Name
    TestMember,100,"Local,E05,Actual,NoSegment,Working,FY11",Consol
And used the following command line from the directory with the planning utilities
    OutlineLoad /A:plansamp /U:admin /M /N /I:F:/temp/dload.csv /D:Account /L:F:/temp/outlineLoad.log /X:F:/temp/outlineLoad.exc
    The log produced :-
[Tue Nov 23 10:02:01 GMT 2010]Successfully located and opened input file "F:\temp\dload.csv".
[Tue Nov 23 10:02:01 GMT 2010]Header record fields: Account, Jan, Point-of-View, Data Load Cube Name

  • Loading Dimensions using Outline Load utility in 11.1.2

    Hi All,
I tried to use the Outline Load utility for loading dimensions in Planning (11.1.2). The file available is OutlineLoad.cmd.template. I tried running that but doesn't work. So i remaned it to OutlineLoad.cmd and tried but it still doesn't work. Have there been any changes regarding how to use it in 11.1.2?
    Cheers,
    Abhishek

    Hi John and Rahul,
I navigated to the location mentioned by Rahul and entered "OutlineLoad.cmd.template". it just goes to the next line and another window opens up asking which program you want to use.
If I enter only "OutlineLoad.cmd" so that it'll return the parameters I need to give, then it says "The syntax of the command is incorrect".
What command do I need to give? Earlier in 11x, I would just enter "OutlineLoad.cmd" and it would give an error with the expected parameters.

  • How to load the external outlines .otl

i have hyperion essbase 9.3.1.i had received external outlines.how to load the external outlines

    Hi
I have bee told that simply copying the otl file can cause it to become corrupt and that the best way is to:
    1. Open the file in the Admin Console using File > Open and browsing to the otl file you have been sent
    2. Do a Save As and save over the existing otl file
    3. Stop and restart the application
I think this is particularly if the otl file is from a different version.
    Hope this helps

  • Allowing duplicate members in outline or anything else?

    Essbase 9.3.1 + OBI EE 10g
I have such dimension in outline
    Dim1
    -Par1(+)
    -Child1(+)
    -Child2(+)
    -Child3(+)
    -Par2(~)
    -Child1(+) (shared)
    -Child2(+) (shared)
    -Par3(~)
    -Child2(+) (shared)
    -Child3(+) (shared)
    and also have dimension Period
    Period
    -Year1(+)
    -mon1.Year1(+)
    -mon2.Year1(+)
    -mon12.Year1(+)
    -Year2(+)
    -mon1.Year2(+)
    -mon2.Year2(+)
    -mon12.Year2(+)
    and have dimension Measures
    Measures
    -cost(~)
    Problem:
"Child1", "Child2" and "Child3" are the children of the "Par1" for all of the "Years"
"Child1" is the child of the "Par2" for all of the "Years"
"Child3" is the child of the "Par3" for all of the "Years"
But "Child2" is the child of the "Par2" when the period="Year1"
and "Child2" is the child of the "Par3" when the period="Year2".
So when the combination is Year1->Par2.Child2->cost i want to see the real result and when the combination is Year2->Par2.Child2->cost i want to see #Missing or Zero(0).
But when i use shared members i always get decimal result even if i apply formula to cost(depending on value of the Period dim) because physically the is only one value for all of the shared members in database.
Instead of shared members to solve this problem I can add to children of "Dim1" the name of their parents(ex. "Child2(Par2)" and "Child2(Par3)") and then apply specific formulas to "cost". But business users dont want to see these addings and cut them in their reports.
So if i allow essbase to use duplicate members will it resolve my problem or there are another ways to do it?

    Hi again.
Use this method (without allowing duplicate members) and unfortunately cant stay with it.
    1. I always create aggregational views after importing the data into cube.
But now after arrgregation i cant open dim Country.(got the error "Cannot send data") in EAS and OBI. In essbase.cfg two parameters(NetDelay.. and NetRetry...) are equal 75000.
Made two tricks in windows registry - the same. Understood that it was because of one member of level 1(c99) which has 228 childen and each children has such formula
    "IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="02",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="03",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="04",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="05",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="06",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="07",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="08",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="09",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="10",c732,IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="11",c732,MISSING))))))))))"
after filtering on all other members(even together) i got the result. But i dont understand why...Other 14 level-1 members also has children(max 178) and they queries normally.
    More detailed dim Country
    Country(Hierarchies Enabled)
    -c00(stored)(+)(256 members)
    --c100
    --c103
    --c900
    -c10(Dynamic)(~)(10 members)
    --c100(c10)(+)(formula above)
    --c300(c10)(+)(formula above)
    -c20(Dynamic)(~)(178 members)
    --c100(c20)(+)(formula above)
    --c200(c20)(+)(formula above)
    -c99(Dynamic)(~)(228 members)
    --c100(c99)(+)(formula above)
    --c200(c99)(+)(formula above)
If i dont make aggr views i got the result even with "c99" in different combination (but sometimes also got the error "cannot send data")
    2. But the main trouble is obiee pivot table.
If i choose level-2 members of this dim with different measures and other dim members it shows the result.
But after i set function SUM(before, after etc) in pivot i get "no data found".
except stored member "c00" - with it i get my SUM.
If i add filer with ONE! year inside i get my SUM. If more than one or none - "no data found"
except stored member "c00" - with it i get my SUM.
So now i see only one way...The whole dim Country is Stored
    In Measure "Cost" i add big formula like "IIF(substring([Times].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="02" and IIF([Country].CurrentMember.Member_Name,3,4) ="c100(c10)", c100...
for each member...and there will be a lot of measures (CostN...) course the formula is very huge...

  • Load members and sort in Planning using ODI

Is it possible to load the members and also sort all the members, after the load, when loading into Hyperion Planning using ODI? If there are new members after the previous load, the new nembers are being added at the end. I tried to sort my source but it's the same. I also had SORT_PARENT_CHILD set to Yes.
    TIA

    Hi,
There are sometimes issues with the sorting using the parent/child option, I think it stems from the old days of HAL as that wasn't the best at sorting.
The options are use the planning sort member utility or depending on how you loading the hierarchy you can order it before it is loaded, if you are using a repository you can create a view to return the members in the correct order or use an id to badge the members in the correct order.
