Loading SQL query File

Hi, I created all of my tables and constraints into a notepad document, and then when I was finished I named it proj4.sql so it could be loaded into oracle and automatically create my tables and constraints all at once. The problem is, I forgot the command used to do this, can anyone help? I though it was: @(filelocation)proj4.sql
Thanks

Hi,
Am afraid but it is @(filelocation)proj4.sql, but from sql prompt. I mean you have to connect to the database through sql plus and then run this file.
else
sqlplus username/password@tnsnames @(filelocation)proj4.sql

  • Using WHERE command in property loader SQL query

    Hello All,
    Hopefully this will be a fairly straight forward question.
    I am attempting to use Property Loader to read in test limits from a SQL database. There are many types of models that need to be tested, each having a unique set of limits. I want to be able to retrieve the appropriate limits for the model of product under test.
    To do this I have the product model number available in a FileGlobal. The database contains a table with the test limit information with an identifying 'ModelNumber_Number' column.
    I have written the following SQL query achieve this:
    "SELECT *  FROM TESTLIMITS WHERE ModelNumber_Number=+ FileGlobals.ModelNumber"
    However, this is where I am confused. I'm not sure on the syntax for accessing a variable in the SQL command. I receive the following error:
    The multi-part identifier "FileGlobals.ModelNumber" could not be bound.
    Can someone please provide guidence on how to do this?
    Many thanks,
    Cam.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you very much for your reply.
    Upon changing the query to as you suggest, I am presented with the following:
    Error In SQL Statement Expression. "SELECT *  FROM TESTLIMITS WHERE ModelNumber_Number = " + FileGlobals.ModelNumber
    Specified value does not have the expected type.
    The type of FileGlobals.ModelNumber is a numeric represented as a double precision 64 bit signed integer.
    The database column is also of type int 64.
    Can you suggest a solution?
    Many thanks.

  • SQLEception using Complex SQL Query with Java Studio Creator2 Build(060120)

    I am evaluating Java Studio Creator2 for a WEB base application project that will be making SQL queries to an Oracle Database but I have stumble into a problem using complex SQL queries.
    I am getting an SQLException "org.apache.jasper.JasperException: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.sql.SQLException: [sunm][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected". I looks like it cut my sql.
    The SQL that I am trying to execute is
    Select part_name
    from table1, table2
    where table1.part_nbr = table2.part_nbr
    and table2.row_add_dt = (select max(table3.row_add_dt)
    from table3
    where table3.ser_part_id =table2.ser_part_id)
    This is a valid query that it is using 2 different selects to get a part number.
    If posible, point me to the best solution were I will be able to make complex SQL queries like the one above and bigger.
    Is there any way that I can read an SQL query file instead of inserting the SQL query string into the setCommand()?

    I have read that document looking for some anwsers on how to make this kind of query. If I try the query that I have above in the query editor ,the query editor will cut off from the last select that is between ().
    I beleave, there is a work around using the inner joint or outter join command. I will try them to see If I get the corrent result. If not, then I have to keep on asking for possible solutions.
    Anyway, someone in the Creator Team should take a note in adding something like a special criteria in the Add Query Criteria Box for cases like the one I have. The special criteria will be like using another select/from/where to get some result that will be compare.
    Girish, Are you in the Sun Creator Team?

    Not a perfectly framed question. How do you want to load the XML file? Hoping you want to parse the xml file and load it into a table you can do this.
    This is the xml file
    karthick% cat emp_details.xml
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
      <EMPNO>7782</EMPNO>
      <ENAME>CLARK</ENAME>
      <JOB>MANAGER</JOB>
      <MGR>7839</MGR>
      <HIREDATE>09-JUN-1981</HIREDATE>
      <SAL>2450</SAL>
      <COM>0</COM>
      <DEPTNO>10</DEPTNO>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
      <EMPNO>7839</EMPNO>
      <ENAME>KING</ENAME>
      <JOB>PRESIDENT</JOB>
      <HIREDATE>17-NOV-1981</HIREDATE>
      <SAL>5000</SAL>
      <COM>0</COM>
      <DEPTNO>10</DEPTNO>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    You can write a query like this.
    SQL> select *
      2    from xmltable
      3         (
      4            '/ROWSET/ROW'  passing xmltype
      5            (

  • Loads sql file, but not runnable?

    Maybe a bug or I am missing something,
    1) I load an .sql file through the tool bar icon,
    2) It is displayed and key words are colored as expected
    3) I press the run triangle and get the following message,
    The target dd.sql cannot be started because it is not a runnable target.
    4) To run the query, I cut and paste the loaded test into a sql spreadsheet or run it through SQLPLUS.
    I may just be used to SQLNavigator loading .sql and running them in after the load.
    Scott

    I would prefer that the SQL file that I open from the File menu to not be opened into the SQL Worksheet. What I want to be able to do in a useful PL/SQL IDE is to load up my application's PL/SQL code from text files into a SOURCE window so that I can compile, debug and edit them and have the changes made to the source in the database and the text file at the same time. I've never figured out how to do this in JDeveloper before and now I can't figure out how to get Raptor to do this either. Whenever I open the text file, I can't compile it because of the "The target %s cannot be started because it is not a runnable target." error.
    This capability is the single reason that I bought PL/SQL Developer and why I suffer through its annoying debugging interface instead of using the better JDeveloper/Raptor debugger. It's just too annoying to have to load up my source through SQL*Plus or whatever, use JDev/Raptor to recompile it from a debug session with the debug information, debug the source in the database, and then when I'm finished hope that I remember to get the changes in the database source made back into the text file without error so that I can keep my source code managed in a source code control system.
    Is or will this be possible with Raptor?

  • How to Save SQL query template as a text file

    Hi,
    How to save a SQL query template in my server as a Text file?? I tried using Text saver but it is not getting saved in the path specified.
    Sweety

    Hi Sweety,
    In the transaction editor (for business logic), add your query template to a transaction.  Add a Tracer after and link the Query property of the SQL Query action block to the Message property of the transaction.  Run the transaction and you will see your Action Block's sql script as the message from the Tracer.  You can do the same with the Server property, SD and ED, etc.
    Also if you wish to dynamically load the sql script into the query, you can do that at run time by linking a script source to the query property.  Useful to have if you have to use a complex expression to dynamically create your script.  This sometimes occurs when you have multiple filtering inputs from a webpage and you can reduce the number of tables in a complex join when the fields are left empty.  Normally this would be done as a way to improve the performance of the query.
    Hopefully this is clear.  If not I can probably provide some sample expressions.

  • SQL Query report region that only queries on first load

    Hello all,
    Is there any way in which you can prevent a SQL Query report region from quering data after every refresh?
    I would like to make a report that queries on the first load, but then I would like to change the individual values, and reload to show the change, but every time I reload the page the columns are queried and the original values are displayed once again...
    any ideas?
    -Mux

    Chet,
    I created a header process to create the HTMLDB_COLLECTION. It is something like:
    HTMLDB_COLLECTION.CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY(
    p_collection_name => 'Course_Data',
    p_query => 'SELECT DISTINCT COURSE_ID, HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(14,COURSE_ID) as "checker", TITLE, SUBJECT, COURSE_NUMB, SECTION, ENROLLED, null as "temp_term", null as "temp_title", null as "temp_crse_id", null as "temp_subj", null as "temp_crse_numb", null as "temp_sect", FROM DB_TBL_A, DB_TBL_B, DB_TBL_C, DB_TBL_D, DB_TBL_E, DB_TBL_F WHERE ...');
    The names were changed, for obvious reasons.
    I then created an SQL Report Region to see if it would work. The SQL is:
    SELECT c001, c002, c003
    FROM htmldb_collections
    WHERE collection_name = 'COURSE_DATA'
    When I run the page it says:
    ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query Error:ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query ExecErr:ORA-01008: not all variables bound
    Any idea why this is happening?
    I'm new to HTMLDB_COLLECTIONS, so I may be doing something wrong

  • Generate PDF file from sql query

    I have a table having some now i want to perform some calculation on tht data and then want to export it into a
    pdf file.
    All this thing thing i want to write in a sql query so tht i can put it in a stored procedure .
    Kindly suggest.

    timberwoods,
    One way is to use SSRS. You may embed a query and it generates the report which you can always download as pdf, excel etc. Look up on the net for this - that shud probably solve your requirement!!
    If not, found this at codeproject - allows you to generate pdfs - again using SSRS !

  • How can I use sql loader to load a text file into a table

    Hi, I need to load a text file that has records on lines tab delimited into a table. How would I be able to use the sql loader to do this? I am using korn shell to do this. I am very new at this...so any kind of helpful examples or documentation would be very appreciated. I would love to see some examples to help me understand if possible. I need help! Thanks alot!

    You should check out the documentation on SQL*Loader in the online Oracle document titled Utilities. Here's a link to the 9iR2 version of it: http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/server.920/a96652/part2.htm#436160

  • How to load SQL scripts from a text file.

    Hi, i tried several time to load a text file/SQL script with 10 different tables and data, but 10g Express doesen't allows me to do that, any one can direct me or point out to me what i should do or do i need to adopt any special method to to get this done. i am sure there must be some thing where you can upload SQL scripts from a text file (in SQL command editor!). thanks

    Hi,
    see my other answer here:
    SQL command editor doesn't take more than 1 insert command
    This seems to be a duplicate question, right? Or am I missing something?

  • Is it possible to load a dump file collected from sql server to orcle 10gR2

    Hi..
    As a part of data migration from legacy systems , we need to migrate only required tables from Sql server to Oracle 10gr2 .
    At present client is telling that he will give it as dump file.
    My question is , Is it possible to load the dump file collected from sql server to oracle 10gR2?
    Thanks in advance ..

    yes, it is.
    Using for example SQL Developer Migration Workbench even allows you to create unload scripts for the desired SQL Server tables and it also creates the DDL scripts for you to create the Oracle tables similar to the SQL Server table AND it alows creates the SQL*Loader scripts that allow you to load the SQL Server generated dump file into the Oracle db.
    Here the link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
    If you do not want to use this utility, you can also use SQL*Loader to load the content of the SQL Server dump file into the Oracle database; but in this case you have to write the whole SQL*Loader control scripts on your own.

    Hi Emad,
    Is your script in a ".sql" file? May I know how you configure the schedule task action?
    Since you didn't mention how you configure the schedule task, can you confirm you have followed the below step correctly?
    Save your script in a ".sql" file.
    Create a ".bat" file and call the sql file above inside with
    sqlcmd.exe, you can reference
    here.
    Configure a schedule task to run the ".bat" file in a certain interval.
    Have you tried to run the script in you bat file in a standalone commandline window? Please post the script in your bat file, It can help to diagnose the issue.
