Loadjava - error ORA-29552 in resolving

Problems when loading java classes to oracle 9.0.1.
Classes compile fine, but when using loadjava (options -t -v -r) there's errors at resolving stage.
Here's the explanations I've found for the error (ORA-29552), but I still have no clue how to fix this?
ORA-29552
In some situations, the resolver allows a class to be marked valid, but will replace bytecodes in the class to throw an exception at runtime. In these cases, the resolver issues an ORA-29552 (verification warning), which loadjava will report. The loadjava tool issues this warning when the Java Language Specification would require an IncompatibleClassChangeError be thrown. Oracle JVM relies on the resolver to detect these situations, supporting the proper runtime behavior that the JLS requires.
ORA-29552 verification warning: string
Cause: An attempt was made to create a Java class object with bytecodes that caused the Java verifier to issue a warning.
Action: It is possible that the Java class was created from a damaged class file, in which case the CREATE should be reattempted with a correct class file. It is also possible that the message is the result of using "-" in the resolver so that the verifier could not check the correctness of some code. In that case, the class needs to be created with a resolver.
Any ideas?

Hi Avi,
Thanks for the link, just in time as I was scratching my head as to where to go! I have checked the version of Java outside the database:
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\dev01\jdk\bin>java -version
java version "1.5.0_04"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_04-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.5.0_04-b05, mixed mode)
I then checked an older install Oracle 10.1.x.x and the java outside is:
C:\Documents and Settings\David>java -version
java version "1.4.2_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_03-b02, mixed mode)
This seems to indicate that the earlier release is aligned, maybe an option if all else fails.

David

  • Loadjava error - ORA-29552

    Hi,
    Trying to load java into the database and get the following errors on some of the classes it is trying to generate:
    ORA-29552: verification warning: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: genproxy/types/ViewProfile (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
    Further down I get the following where resolving is trying to sort it out:
    bad class file: null
    class file has wrong version 49.0, should be 48.0
    Anyone help me with what this means and how I can resolve this?

  • Loadjava error: ORA-29540: class oracle/aurora/rdbms/DbmsJava does not exist

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a simple Java stored procedure running 8.1.6. When using loadjava (c:\jdk1.2.2\bin\java -classpath .;d:\orant8i\lib\aurora_client.jar;d:\orant8i\javavm\lib\aurora.zip;d:\orant8i\sqlj\lib\translator.zip;d:\orant8i\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip oracle.aurora.server.tools.loadjava.LoadJavaMain -u system/manager -f -v Test.class), I get the above error. The problem: file DbmsJava exists in the included aurora.zip package. To verify this, I checked the zip file, and I successfully compiled a test program importing the class.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bernd

    I also tried another approach to create a Java stored procedure, and got an error which I think has the same cause as above:
    public class Test { public static void test() {System.out.println("Test");}}

  • Loadjava error resolving xmlparserv2.jar

    I was having problems loading the JVM on our 8.1.6 database, so I upgraded to 8.1.7 then migrated the database across. The JVM loads fine on this database. However, when I try and load the xmlparserv2.jar file using loadjava -v -r -u <uname>/<passwd> xmlparserv2.jar, I get ORA-04043 errors when it starts resolving. It seems to happen for every class. I've checked metalink for hits and checked the JVM installation according to Note:102717.1 and all seems fine. Any ideas?

    check the javavm read me file or the java developer's guide sections dealing with memory usage.
    "ava Memory Usage" is documented at :
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83728/perf2.htm#1005628
    You're probably running into a "too small" shared_pool, java_pool or large_pool.
    They're defined in the init.ora file.

    Hi,

    Database Error - ORA-12154:TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

    Hi Sunil,
    Did you test the direct method I posted above? That will bypass the tnsnames.ora file. If it connects fine that way, then you likely have a configuration issue with your sqlnet.ora and/or tnsnames.ora
    You can test with:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/tnsping <tnsalias>
    If it is successful, then check if you have the TNS_ADMIN environment variable set (echo $TNS_ADMIN) -- assuming Linix/Unix, if Windows, check system environment variables
    You may TNS_ADMIN set and pointing to a tnsnames.ora that is not in the default location.
    If it fails and your tns entry is correct in the tnsnames.ora file, then you may need to look at the sqlnet.ora
    For example,
    If you have NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN set.. then you would need enter: <tnsalias>.<domain> (i.e. scott.world)
    or you may need to check if TNSNAMES is first in NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=
    You can remove or rename the sqlnet.ora to make sure that is not an issue.
    Hope that helps. Good Luck.
    ~Steve.

  • SQLJ runtime error ORA-29541

    I am running on an Oracle 8.1.5 database using SQLJ Release 8.1.5.0.0 and JDBC version 8.1 (8.1.5.0.0). My SQLJ program precompiles and compiles successfully, resulting in a .class file which I load without error using the loadjava utility. I then create a procedure to run the stored procedure. All this works just fine. However, when I run the procedure, I get the error:
    "ORA-29541: class <class name> could not be resolved"
    I can't find this error message documented anywhere. (I'm not saying it's not - I'm saying I can't find it.) This same process of loading .class files with loadjava and running them through a wrapper procedure works without errors for JDBC but not SQLJ. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Any one of the three following things should help:
    (1) Add the generated .ser file(s) to be loaded by loadjava.
    (2) Use the -ser2class option when translating your SQLJ source and add the additional .class files to be loaded by loadjava.
    (3) Use loadjava to load SQLJ source rather than .class (and .ser) files.

  • Error ORA-12560 prompts when trying to log in to the Enterprise Manager

    Hi all,
    I am a newbie to Oracle.
    Just installed the Oracle 9i Database Enterprise Edition (9.0.1) into Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. Problem is encountered when trying to log in to the Enterprise Manager Standalone mode using either system/oracle or scott/tiger as credentials. Error "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error" prompts.
    I tried to check with some configuration and see whether the services are started. Services of "OracleOraHome90TNSListener" and "OracleServiceORCL" have been started and the database exists in the dedicated directory. Environment variables of "ORACLE_HOME" and "ORACLE_SID" have been added manually as the SID is set to orcl, which I just follow what the instruction manual has stated. Moreover, I can't get access using command prompt typing "svrmgrl"; error returned stating " 'svrmgrl' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
    Another information is that there is no domain set in my server. Just a server with a name being assigned in a workgroup.
    Hence, would you mind please advice me what to do in order to get access into the Enterprise Manager? It's quite an urgent task.
    A million thx in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Karen

    Hi Jigneshrp,
    Thanks for your reply.
    It is checked that the listener is running and TNS name service exists. Following your advice, I did create a new listener and another name service and use them, but the same error turns out when trying to log in to the Enterprise Manager again.
    Additional information to take note for is that while reconfiguring the existing listener or creating a new listener, a mesage prompts stating "The information provided for this listener is currently in use by other software on this computer. You can proceed with the configuration as it is, but it will not be possible to start this listener until the conflict is resolved. Would you like to continue with the continue with the configuration anyway? Yes/No".
    As for the reconfiguration or the new creation of TNS names service, when I am trying to test for the connection, the results in the details pane states that "Connecting... ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. The test did not succeed...."
    Would you mind pls advice me on these?
    Furthermore, there exist 2 questions I am wondering is that it is stated in the instruction manual that prior to the installation, a static IP should be specified for it instead of the DHCP one; hence, I wanna ask after the complete insallation, is it that the server should be running in the network, i.e. allow it to get connected with the outside network?
    2nd question is that can Oracle 9i Database Server Standard Edition (9.0.1) be installed under a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and just a Window XP Professional?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Best Regards,
    Karen

    Hi Lucy,
    The error is probably due to one of the reasons:

    This:

    Error: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    says that your network setup is not correct. You need to resolve that first.
    As for Broker setup steps how about the doc or our Data Guard 11g Handbook?
    It's 3 DGMGRL commands so I am not sure what 'steps' you need?

  • SQL Error: ORA-12899: value too large for column

    Hi,
    I'm trying to understand the above error. It occurs when we are migrating data from one oracle database to another:
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-12899: value too large for column "USER_XYZ"."TAB_XYZ"."COL_XYZ" (actual: 10, maximum: 8)
    12899. 00000 - "value too large for column %s (actual: %s, maximum: %s)"
    *Cause:    An attempt was made to insert or update a column with a value
    which is too wide for the width of the destination column.
    The name of the column is given, along with the actual width
    of the value, and the maximum allowed width of the column.
    Note that widths are reported in characters if character length
    semantics are in effect for the column, otherwise widths are
    reported in bytes.
    *Action:   Examine the SQL statement for correctness.  Check source
    and destination column data types.
    Either make the destination column wider, or use a subset
    of the source column (i.e. use substring).
    The source database runs - Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
    The target database runs - Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    The source and target table are identical and the column definitions are exactly the same. The column we get the error on is of CHAR(8). To migrate the data we use either a dblink or oracle datapump, both result in the same error. The data in the column is a fixed length string of 8 characters.
    To resolve the error the column "COL_XYZ" gets widened by:
    alter table TAB_XYZ modify (COL_XYZ varchar2(10));
    -alter table TAB_XYZ succeeded.
    We now move the data from the source into the target table without problem and then run:
    select max(length(COL_XYZ)) from TAB_XYZ;
    -8
    So the maximal string length for this column is 8 characters. To reduce the column width back to its original 8, we then run:
    alter table TAB_XYZ modify (COL_XYZ varchar2(8));
    -Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-01441: cannot decrease column length because some value is too big
    01441. 00000 - "cannot decrease column length because some value is too big"
    *Cause:
    *Action:
    So we leave the column width at 10, but the curious thing is - once we have the data in the target table, we can then truncate the same table at source (ie. get rid of all the data) and move the data back in the original table (with COL_XYZ set at CHAR(8)) - without any issue.
    My guess the error has something to do with the storage on the target database, but I would like to understand why. If anybody has an idea or suggestion what to look for - much appreciated.
    Cheers.

    select max(length(COL_XYZ)) from TAB_XYZ;

    So the maximal string length for this column is 8 characters. To reduce the column width back to its original 8, we then run:

    Use SQL Reference for datatype specification, length function, etc.

  • Dbms_sql  in a different schema from query table-error  ** ORA-00942

    Oracle Experts,
    I think I am having problems with using DBMS_SQL in which the function was created in one schema and the query table was created in a different schema.
    We have 2 schemas: S1, S2
    We have 2 tables:
    T1 in Schema S1
    T2 in Schema S2
    We have a function F1 created by DBA in schema S1 that uses the dbms_sql as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION S1.F1(v1 in VARCHAR2) return NUMBER IS
    cursor1 INTEGER;
    BEGIN
    cursor1 := dbms_sql.open_cursor;
    dbms_sql.parse(cursor1, v1, dbms_sql.NATIVE);
    dbms_sql.close_cursor(cursor1);
    return (0);
    EXCEPTION
    when others then
    dbms_sql.close_cursor(cursor1);
    return (1) ;
    END;
    I am using jdeveloper 11G. We have an Oracle DB 11g.
    We have a java program which uses jdbc to talk to our Oracle DB.
    Basically, in my java program, I call function F1 to check if the query is valid.
    If it is, it returns 0. Otherwise, returns 1:
    oracle.jdbc.OracleCallableStatement cstmt = (oracle.jdbc.OracleCallableStatement) connection.prepareCall ("begin ? := S1.F1 (?); end;");
    cstmt.registerOutParameter (1, java.sql.Types.INTEGER);
    cstmt.setString(2, "Select * from S2.T2");
    cstmt.execute ();
    Since the table that I run the query is T2, created in different schema than F1 was created in, I have the error:
    ** ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    So my questions are these:
    - I am using Oracle DB 11g, if I run the query on a table that created in a different schema from the one that the function (which uses dbms_sql) was created in, I would get the error ORA-00942?
    - If I runs the query on table T1 in the same schema as the function F1, would I have the same problem(The reason I ask is I cannot create any table in schema S1 because the DBA has to do it; I am not a DBA)
    - This is not a problem, but a security feature because of SQL injection?
    - How to resolve this issue other than creating the table in the same schema as the function that utilizes DBMS_SQL?
    Regards,
    Binh

    Definer rights (default) stored objects run under owner's security domain and ignore role based privileges. So regardless what user you are logged in as, function S1.F1 always executes as user S1 and ignores user S1 roles. Therefore exeuting statement within S1.F1:
    Select * from S2.T2requires user S1 to have SELECT privilege on S2.T2 granted to S1 directly, not via role.
