LoadLibrary problems on Linux for JNI

When trying to run a java file with native call to C++
file on Linux I am facing some problem with
loadlibrary method.I think system is not able to pick
up the correct location where file.so file is kept.I
have already tried setting LD_LIBARARY_PATH also triedPresumably you spelled that wrong just here and not when you actually tried it.
Also presumably the permissions for the shared library are correct for the application that you are running.
with setting java_library_path
but the same problem is
repeated.
How do i make sure that the path is proper & the file
gets picked up? You could always set it explicitly on the command line
java -Djava.library.path=... MyClass
But since that uses LD_LIBRARY_PATH I don't know how that would help.

i am using jni.h file provided by sun to compile my code on linux, but it gives me compile error. though it compiles properly on Windows and AIX.
what could be the reason?

i am using jni.h file provided by sun to compile my code on linuxAre you sure about that? Check that it isn't the one provided with GNU CLASSPATH. If it is, delete GNU CLASSPATH altogether. It isn't Java, and the incompatibility of jni.h is one of many reasons why not.

Tomcat Crashes for JNI ?

Hello everyone,
I am facing a serious problem. This is as follows:
1. I have wrote some audio/video conversion fuctions using C and make the shared library (*.so files) in linux.
2. I have wrote the JNI code (making it shared library also, *.so file) to access the library functions created in step 1.
3. Then I use JAVA and Java Native codes to use the JNI. I load the library created by JNI code with Java.
4. Finally, I have created a JSP page. Actuall JSP page acts as the conversion client program of audio/video conversion.
The problem is:
If I open the JSP page in one browser , the conversion is successfull.
But when I open two browsers and try to convert at the same time, the tomcat crashes, so conversion fails.
Why tomcat crashes ? Is it for JNI ? Is there any JNI drawbacks for such case ?
It will be greate help, if someone can answer.

UEFI boot problems with Linux 3.7 kernels

According to this thread in the Arch Linux forums, some people are having problems booting some versions of the Linux 3.7 kernel. Here are the numbers:
3.7.3 works for some, but not others
3.7.4 works for some, but not others
3.7.5 works
3.7.6 does not
3.7.7 works
3.7.8 does not
The problem occurs with both the Gummiboot and rEFInd boot managers, and has so far only been reported on Lenovo hardware. I have a ThinkPad W530, and can confirm that on Gummiboot, 3.7.6 does not work, whereas 3.7.5 and 3.7.7 does work. It looks like a Lenovo-related issue to me. It has only been reported on Arch Linux as far as I know. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I gather from your comments that, if I install a new HD, I will be able to re-install the Windows 7 32-bit O/S from the Product Recovery DVD GMR410014EN0, which was supplied by Toshiba with the laptop and it would also follow, if that is true, that I would be able to Format (Boot n' Nuke) the existing HD and re-install the O/S onto it before I get my friend to lay out cash for a new HD.
I would appreciate your confirmation that the above conclusions are correct as I was under the, hopefully incorrect, impression that the Recovery Disk could only be used to repair an existing system. I have the Microsoft licence number as it is printed on the bottom of my friends machine.

Path problem in linux

hi,
i have problem with file path accessing in linux. my java class is accessing a abc.cvs file and and getting all data. it is working fine in windows xp. but i run this same file in linux it does not access the abc.cvs file and does not get any data.
my project structure
Search
abc.cvs
search.SearchMain
i am sccessing this cvs file in this SearchMain class by this way file name = "abc.cvs"
It is working fine with window but problem with linux.
when i place this abc.cvs in a folder as "./data/abc.cvs" also working fine with windows but not in linux.
I am new for linux.
Please give me solution.

There shouldn't be any differences between Linux and Windows here, it's all about your environment. In order to access abc.cvs class (I presume that abc is package name) from search.SearchMain class you need to have a directory (or .jar file) containing abc/cvs.class in your CLASSPATH environment variable.
Try setting it with
export CLASSPATH=your_dir_or_jar_file:$CLASSPATH
and then running the app again.

File problem in linux OS.

I am creating one jar file . In my program, when I click one survey menu in my GUI,it will collect information from remote device and store it in log file located LOG folder. In my case, I put one folder " Cal" and inside it I put myjar.jar file and that log (LOG) folder.
In Windows, when I click survey menu in GUI, the log information automatically stored in log foder as survey.txt file. And also, i create one show dialog box to show where the log file located.

Unicode filename problems in linux

I'm running into a problem in linux (Ubuntu). The following test code will throw an exception at the "FileInputStream fis... " line with the file has a unicode filename. However, Windows passes this without problems.

But the characters are actually chinese. And since
it's on Ubuntu, it would be in UTF-8 encoding
wouldn't it?
The characters display fine in ubuntu but when I try
to read them in using FileInputStream, it fails for
some filenames with strange characters.
I just don't understand why some characters make it

HEAVY Problems with Linux x86_64 on K8T Neo

I experience *HEAVY* Problems with Linux on my MSI K8T Neo (FSR). Since the customer support of the german dependancy seems to ignore my call for help I'm in good hope that maybe you can help me out or give me some useful advise.

I've downloaded Fedora Core 1 x86_64 as well as the lately released Fedora Core 2 test 3 x86_64 distribution. Both CD sets have been burnt ok.
If I try to install Core 1 x86_64 (Kernel 2.4.22-1.2179) the kernel crashes with a "attempted to kill idle task" panic. As far as I've learned the workaround is to give idle=poll as kernel parameter. This resolves the kernel panic, but the installer randomly crashes with segfaults at a random stage; sometimes while loading anaconda, sometimes during package install.
If I try to install Core2 test 3 x86_64 (Kernel 2.6.5) I get a, completely new, error message while the kernel does the PCI Scan:

******* Please consider a BIOS update
******* Disabling USB legacy in the BIOS may also help
I removed my USB keyboard, connected a PS/2 keyboard, disabled to USB Legacy option (I need it enabled in order to use Ghost) in the BIOS and booted again.
The error message is gone now, but as in Core 1 the installer still crashes randomly with segfaults. I'm still unable to go all the way through the installation routine.
I even tried to install Fedora Core 1 "i386": again there are segfaults during install.
Contrary to the problems I experience while trying to install Linux my Windows XP (32-Bit), as well as a test installation of Windows XP 64-Bit, run like a charm without any problems. Strange but true.
Since I already read trough several posts in this forum I already tried running my system with memory sticks from another manufacturers as well as with a more powerful PSU. I even removed my tv-card and raid-controller.
Nogo - Linux still crashes randomly and Windows still works without any flaws.
Has anyone a clue what I can/must do to successfully install Linux?
Might it be that the BIOS has some flaws that might cause the problems?
Has anyone managed to install Linux (what distribution) on this Mainboard?
I would greatly appreciate any help. If you need to know something I haven't provided here please feel free to ask. I'll answer ASAP.

And now even the last problem is solved ...
Since I was successful in installing a basic Gentoo system but still failed to install Fedora I reflashed BIOS 1.5. This time I cleared the CMOS by unplugging the PSU, setting the jumper and removing the backup battery.
Yesterday I only flashed it with the /a switch, which should have cleared the CMOS as well - so far for the theory. However, it once went fine as I upgraded from BIOS 1.1 to 1.4.
After setting up the BIOS options again I gave it another try and booted from Fedora (Core 2 test 3) install CD: No more complains about the CPU errata, although USB legacy is enabled, and I even went through the installation without any problems.
It seems as I will stick with Gentoo as my primary distribution since the kernel makes a more "mature" impression than the one from Fedora (i.e. the K8 PowerNOW! Driver seems to be missing in Fedora's Kernel 2.6.5).
By using an spare Athlon XP Mainboard I worked out that only one of my three Kingston memory sticks had errors - I'm going to replace the faulty stick tomorrow.

Using gcc (in Cygwin) for JNI - resource.h not found. drand48 not found

I am trying to use gcc for JNI. I have successfully executed simple programs like Hello World and Message Box. Now I have a C project that I am trying to use in JNI (Its FOIL 6.4 by Quinlan).
I have written the .java file and the .c (wrapper) file and am calling the top level function from FOIL. Whenever I try to run it I get several errors.
sys/resource.h: No such file or directory.
/tmp/ccGi67I4.o:state.c:(.text+0x4cb): undefined reference to `_drand48'
/tmp/ccGi67I4.o:state.c:(.text+0x85a): undefined reference to `_drand48'
I have the resource.h file in C:\cygwin\usr\include\sys but it still doesnt find it.
And drand48 is present in one of the include files, but it still gives me this error.
the way I use gcc to create the dll is:

Two parts, not one.
So
1. Define the task. This has nothing to do with code (java or C.)
2. Write C code that represents a library/API to achieve that task. This has nothing to do with java nor JNI.
3. Unit test 2 until it works.
4. Write JNI code to use the API from 2. This involves JNI/java.
Until you reach step 4 none of your questions have anything to do with JNI/Java. So you ask them on C forums, C compiler forums and forums specific to the library you are using.

Runtime.exec() problem with Linux

I have a java program which I am using to launch java programs on all platforms.
I am using the Runtime.exec() method to start the process in a separate JVM.
But, I had a problem with the -classpath switch if the directories contained spaces. So I modified the java command which I am passing to the exec() method to something like:
java -classpath \"./my dir with spaces\" com.harshal.MainThis I had to do because of the problem in windows. But, if I use double quotes in Linux (for the classpath switch in my exec() method), it won't work.
Can anyone correct me so that I can use the Runtime.exec() method on all platforms to launch the java application even if the classpath directories contains spaces.

tutorial and I found a shocking news. Mac OS doesn't
support command line args, That's news to me. Could you please elaborate ?
More important is: I got it working. I figured out I had forgotten to try something before, or, to be more correct, I made an error when trying malcommc's envp suggestion: I used "classpath" as key, not "CLASSPATH", as it should have been.
Ran a new test, got it working.
Sample:
Given a rootdir. Subdirectory "cp test" with a classfile (named "test") without package declaration. Running another class in another directory, using:

For the past 3months I have been trying to connect my Panasonic GS150 to my comuter in order to use Avid dvxpress pro. I have the problem of when I connect the camera to the computer, nothing happens. I also have this problem with my Ipod, however testing various different devices with the computer produces a strange outcome. Various different cameras work, xp pops up witha found new hardware device (like it should). Its very strange.
I started to think it was my system. I changed my onboard firewire to a pci card, same solution. So then, i reinstalled windows, same outcome. So i bought a new motherboard nforce2 platinum and to my total amazment, same problem. If was after i had totally failed in finding the solution that i started to look elsewhere on the net for anyone who knows the answer. It seems to be a VIA firewire chipset problem. Every post of people who had similiar problems where looking for the answer but NOONE has solved it, ive come across about 1000 posts with no reply's. Its a problem that thousands have but not many people ever use ther're firewire ports so they dont they've got the problem.
I really dont know what the problem is anymore, is it windows, is it certain 1394 devices, or is it the Via chipset. I havent a clue, so if anyone wants to attempt to solve this problem once and forall they will be the hero of about 3000 potential customers...

Yes thats correct. Regardless of the hardware, and various 1394 devices are recognised. I've bought a 4pin to 4pin cable which i will test with different devices to see if they are consistent with a 6pin to 4pin cable, it may be a power issue. Not sure what chip on pci card, heres the info from website.

Problem with the FOR statement.....again!

Well I'm still trying to do a car slideshow using external
files and can't seem to see the end. The current movie is here:

I also attach the code. My problem is I had originally set up
an animation with 2 pictures sliding in with some text, and then
wait 4 seconds before sliding out, and then next pictures and text
would slide in and so on, using a setInterval.
The problem is the FOR loop seems to skip the setInterval and
the function "wait", so it just loops quickly and jumps to last
picture, so on the example above, it just slides the last picture
(i=9) and that's it!
Can you not include another function within a FOR statement.
Or is there a way to tell the FOR loop to wait until all motion is
finished?

There is no way to tell a for loop to wait. That is not what
they do.
The entire for loop will execute (if possible, and it doesn't
enter some kind of continuous infinite loop) completely before each
time the frame is rendered.
If you want to spread things out over time you need to use
the setInterval -- but not inside a for loop! If you do that you
immediately set however many intervals as your loop has. In this
case you will also assign the ids for those intervals to the same
variable, effectively overwriting the value so you will never be
able to clear most of those intervals.
So you need to rethink you whole structure. Set up some kind
of counter and limit like this:

var curSlide:Number=0;
Then have your setInterval increment the curSlide each time
it is called and check to see if it has shown all of them. That is
where your "loop" comes in.
As for the other part of your question -- yes you actually
have two different issues going on -- again you cannot make a for
loop wait for anything. So no there is no way to pause it while you
wait for your tween to end. But you can be notified when a tween
ends.
Check out the documentation about the tween class in the help
files. There you will find the onMotionFinished event. So you can
set up one of those to start whatever needs to be started when the
tween has finished.
You should also use the MovieClipLoader class to load your
images, because you have no idea how long it will take to load
them. Using that class you get a nice event (onLoadInit) that tells
you when the asset is ready to be used.
Finally I'm thinking you might want to use setTimeout instead
of setInterval. It only goes once, while setInterval repeats
forever. So I would think your algorithm would be something like
this.
1. load external asset
2. when ready animate in and set onMotionFinished handler
3. when motion is finished start loading next asset and
setTimeout for 4 seconds.
4. when 4 seconds is up or the clip is loaded (which ever
takes longer) go to 2 and repeat.
If this is going to be run locally on a hard drive or CD you
won't have any problem with the length of time it takes to load the
external assets, but if it is over the web it will take time.

Problem with Overwrite for Key Figures in ODS

A bit of a long explanation, but the problem is not so complicated...
We have an ODS containing contract line items. Each line item has a key figure "Total Contract Target" that is marked with update type "overwrite". We have modified the extractor that delivers data for this ODS so that the key figure is set to a value from the contract header. Since we don't want the key figure to be duplicated if there are multiple line items on the contract, the user exit for the extractor modifies only the first line item delivered.
For example, overall contract target value = 100. Contract has 3 line items. Contract target value for line item 1 is 100. Target value for line item 2 and 3 is 0.
This all works fine for initial loads, but there is a problem with the business content extractor for deltas. Whenever a single change is made, it delivers three sets of records. Continuing the example, we would receive 9 records for the contract (3 sets of 3 line items). Each of the three sets contains the same records. Only the first set has the correct contract target value. Since the ODS key figure is set to overwrite, our method of setting the total contract value in the first record doesn't work, because the extractor delivers duplicates so the duplicates overwrite the total with a 0.
Would setting the key figure for total contract value to update type "additive" solve this? (I'm concerned that additions would be made if there were only a change to characteristics and not the key figure). Thanks for your assistance.

Solved this by modifying the customer exit for the extractor to set the key figure for the first contract line item encountered AND for all subsequent records with the same contract number / contract line item. Since the key figure in the ODS is set to overwrite, this makes sure that the last record written doesn't overwrite the key figure with 0.

Problem with mail for exchange after update on E72...

Hi everyone,
I updated Nokia E-mail to ver 3.9 on E72. Now I am facing a problem with mail for exchange. I have configured gmail on mail for exchange. I recieve a warning that "unable to sync contact administrator if problem persist". It started to pop up just after the update was over and is very frustrating. Even previously i used to recieve mails instantly but now it generally takes half an hour for me to recieve them. I deleted and created mail for exchange several times but to no avail.
Also i am not able to automatically recieve mails other emails which i have configured. every time I have to manually download them everytime.
Can anybody suggest a way out.

It could be a problem if you're using your network's connections...
I was on a Pay & Go tariff with o2 some time ago, and needed secure connections for various things, o2 told me they didn't provide secure connections on Pay & Go tariffs...
Could be worth checking with them to make sure it's supported.

Problem with facetime for mac

hello guy! I've got a problem with facetime for mac.My sister has a I-pod touch fourth generation with factime but i cna't phone her a message come on my mac.It say "xxx can't receive facetime's calls"!Can you help me??

I did see mention of using Google Public DNS while I was searching the forums prior to posting, but to be honest didn't think it was a DNS-related problem.
However, to rule it out I've set the prefered DNS servers on my router to Google's, but FaceTime still disconnects after 4-5 seconds when calling between me and my brother-in-law. It doesn't matter who initiates the call.
As a test, before I made the changes to my router, I logged into FaceTime as him on my MBP and tried calling myself on my iMac, and that was successful.
The same test between the two iMacs when they were here was unsuccessful, so now I'm definitely thinking it's something on the '08 iMac.
Now I just need to figure out what...
