Local interface of each controller in web dynpro abap

Hi everyone,
Anybody please give some idea what is local interface of each controller in web dynpro abap??
Thanks,
Sonali..

Hi,
There will be three controllers in webdynpro
1) Component controller which provides data and processing logic that it should be possible to display or change for all views of a component. It is the main component. All the data of the iview can be shared using this controller. Custom controller is also component controll. The only differnce is it is custom made.
2) Inteface Contorller which is used as in interface for communication other components.
3) View Controller which will be having data and functions and visible in the same iview and is associated with the iview. its lifetime is also limited and only during it is shown.

    Hi All ,
Can anyone please send me the Docs or link for Web Dynpro ABAP .
    Thanks in advance
    Rahul

    Hi,
    Web Dynpro ABAP
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/db22242d-0701-0010-28a2-aeaa1fefd706
Also, I have the official Web Dynpro for ABAP documentation. Please let me know if I should send it to you.
Hope that the following also helps you.
Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web
applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical
development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP
    Workbench (SE80).
Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
? The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation
    effort
? Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
? Strict separation between layout and business data
? Reuse and better maintainability by using components
? The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
? Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed and the required
data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire
    application context.
Note that stateless applications are not possible.
? Automatic data transport using data binding
    ? Automatic input check
? Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
? User interface accessibility is supported
? Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
    Web Dynpro Architecture
    Definition
Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the
following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
? Clear separation of business logic and display logic
? Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
? Execution on a number of client platforms.
? Extensive platform independence of interfaces
    Structure
    Metamodel Concept
Web Dynpro provides support for developing Web representation of a business application.
You use specific tools to describe the properties of a Web Dynpro application in the form of
Web Dynpro metadata. The necessary source code is then generated automatically and
executed at runtime. In addition to the events offered by the framework, you can also define
your own events for a Web Dynpro application. However, the event handling must always be
programmed in separate source code areas which are executed automatically when the event
    is triggered at runtime.
In Web Dynpro, each user interface is always made up of the same basic elements. These
elements of the metamodel can be statically declared using Web Dynpro tools.
It is also possible to implement elements of the metamodel at runtime and to change them or
reintegrate them at runtime. Using these implementations, you can make any changes or
enhancements to a user interface that has been created by declarative methods by
generating new interface structures at runtime.
This means that you can combine declarative processes and the implementation of source
    code.
    Graphical Development Tools
To support this declarative concept, both the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and the
ABAP Workbench contain a range of Web Dynpro tools. You can therefore generate a large
proportion of a Web Dynpro application using the tools provided, without having to create your
own source code. This applies to the following parts of the application:
? Data flow between the front end and back end
? Layout of the user interface
? Properties of user interface elements
The Web Dynpro tools enable you to create source text areas manually within generated
source texts. These areas are not changed if the source code is regenerated.
Separation of Business and Application Logic
Using Web Dynpro enables a clear separation of business logic and display logic. A Web
Dynpro application runs on the front end and has local or remote access to the back end
system via a service. This means that the display logic is contained in the Web Dynpro
application, while the business logic and the persistence of the business objects run in the
back end system. The following options are currently available for connecting Web Dynpro
    applications and the back-end system:
? An interface generated using adaptive RFC, through which BAPIs of an SAP system
    can be called
? An interface for calling Web services
    ? A self-generated interface
The source code required for connecting the Web Dynpro application can be generated
from a UML definition of the Web Dynpro interface. A UML definition can be imported
into the Web Dynpro tools as an XML file.
    Conversion of the Model-View-Controller
Conversion of the Model-View-Controller Programming Model
Every Web Dynpro application is structured according to the Model View Controller
    programming model:
? The model forms the interface to the back end system and thus enables the
Web Dynpro application access to data.
? The view is responsible for the representation of the data in the browser.
? The controller lies between the view and the model. The controller formats
the model data to be displayed in the view, processes the user entries made by the
user, and returns them to the model.

  • Problem in web dynpro ABAP program

There are 2 input fields on first view carrid, connid and one "GO" Button
    1) "FLIGHTINFO" is the node under context of first view
    2) " FLIGHTTAB "  is a node under context of component controller having cardinality " 0..n " ,Dictionary structure "SFLIGHT" (i have selected only these many attributes " carrid, connid, fldate, planetype, seatsmax and seatsocc " )
    3) I have created  Method "FLIGHTTAB_FILL" in component controller to fill context node FLIGHTTAB
Insert the source code for doing the following:
    -     Navigate to context node FLIGHTINFO
    -     Get element at lead selection for context node FLIGHTINFO
    -     Get CARRID and CONNID
    -     Fill an internal table with all datasets from database table SFLIGHT, who meet the constraints for CARRID and CONNID.
    -     Navigate to context node FLIGHTTAB
    -     Bind the internal table(having all standard fields of sflight ) to the context node FLIGHTTAB ( having those 6 attributs).
    4) On action GO ->Implement the invocation of Method " FLIGHTTAB_FILL".
    5) I have mapped node FLIGHTTAB to context of OUTPUTVIEW.  Display table on view OUTPUT_VIEW (for this i hav used code wizard).
Problem: after entering values of connid & carrid I m getting proper entries in internal table. but output view is not at all trigger (although i have created plugs). Is it necessary that while binding internal table with context node FLIGHTTAB  should have same no of fields (i.e. in this case 6 )?
I am a fresher, My concept of bindings and cardinality are not so clear so can anybody help me out?
    Thanx in advance for replying.

    Hi johnright ,
No i dont think it is necessary that while binding internal table with context node should have same no of fields as the internal table . You might get some improper values in the corresponding fiels but it will not lead to any error.
In your OUTPUTVIEW once you created the table UI element in layout and you bind it to FLIGHTTAB node you dont have to use any code wizard method to display the values. If the node contains values it will display automatically. (in your case you are filling it in step #).
    Check :-
    1. In your On action GO after filling the table you are firing the out bound plug :-
        WD_THIS->FIRE_INITIAL_OUT_PLG(
2.All outbound plug and inbound plug are link properly and every thing is ACTIVATED.
If still unable to find the error try to debug method wise and find where the error occurs and reply to us.
    Binding:-
In web dynpro ABAP you will not able to get any value of any variable outside of any method. Here we use context node which is referrence that we create reference to any particular structure we required. Now to hold the values you need to bind
the values of your internal table to the context node.
If the node is in view then its values are visible to all the local method of the view.
If the node is in component controller then  the you bind a value to the node from one view and you can get it in another view.
Remember binding and mapping are not same.
Mapping is done between node like inthe second scenario i have explained you need to create a node in view controller and then you need to map it to the corresponding view of component controller to send values across view.
    cardinality:-
Each node contains data fields that represent one of the following:
An individual instance of an object type
        A table of instances.
This property of a node is known as its cardinality of table of instances.
If you need table instance :- 0..n or 1...n
In case of 1...n one default value is created. generally we use this as mainly we need to work with table.
In case you need a individual instance of a object or like you want value like a structure only :-  0...1 or 1....1.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Attachement Details (GOS) in Web Dynpro (ABAP)

I posted this question in the Web Dynpro ABAP forum and got no response, so I'm moving it here:
We are developing a Web Dynpro application to display PO attachment details (PDF file etc).
In the corresponding R3 application, we use FMs ARCHIVE_GET_CONNECTIONS and ARCHIV_DISPLAY_LIST_2. They work perfectly.
The Web Dynpro application uses both FMs but one of them returns an error "Screen output without connection to user". This is returned from FM K_KKB_LIST_DISPLAY which is trying to popup a screen.
So we would like to know if we are going about this correctly or if we should be using different FMs.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

PS : CL_GOS* class will not work in WebDynpro, i think these are using control framework.
May this will help you out.

  • Web Dynpro ABAP calling another ABAP program

I have a question and just want to know if it's possible or not.
Is it possible to write a Web Dynpro ABAP program that calls another ABAP program which happens to be an ALV report?
Rather than re-write the ABAP ALV report, I was wondering if it's possible to call the ABAP ALV report within a Web Dynpro ABAP program and display the results within the Web Dynpro program.
If it's not possible, then I assume it would be better to re-write the code from the ABAP ALV report in the Web Dynpro ABAP program.
    Thanks
    John

The ALV report in your classic program is coded to be displayed in the GUI only.
Your best bet would be to create a Function Module or Method that will return the data to be used in your ALV.  Simply call the Function/Method from your Web Dynpro and then bind the table to the DATA context node of the ALV INTERFACE CONTROLLER.

  • Web Dynpro JAVA VS. Web Dynpro ABAP

    <b>Web Dynpro for Java:</b>
Web Dynpro is a client-independent programming model of the SAP NetWeaver technology platform for developing user interfaces for professional business applications. It is based on the model view controller paradim which ensures that the business logic is separated from the presentation logic. This architecture is visible in the Web Dynpro perspective of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS).
Web Dynpro helps you with the development of Web applications by:
    1)       Ensuring platform-independence with the meta model approach
    2)       Minimizing the implementation effort through declarative programming
    3)      Supporting a structured design process by applying the model view controller paradigm
    4)        Providing reuse and better maintainability by using components

  • BSP vs Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hello,
we are looking for a listing that states the functional and technical differences between Web Dynpro ABAP an BSP.
Is there anybody who has come along such a list ?
    Tx a lot in advance!
    Best regards,
    Ana

    Annette,
    check this
The SAP Web Application Server (WAS) provides a page-based programming model with server-side scripting as well as server page technology for developing, designing and implementing Web applications:
Business Server Pages (BSP). Server-side scripting enables direct access to all elements in the application server (such as function modules, database tables, ABAP Objects, and so on.).
We can create HTML pages or Business Server Pages (BSPs) with server-side scripting in ABAP or JavaScript.
The HTMLB and XHTMLB HTML Business libraries are available as BSP Extensions for a uniform layout and its associated usability advantages.
And In the Web Application Server, the presentation layer is separate from the business logic. This makes it possible to implement front-end technology.
    Why BSP NOT WebDynpro
                              BSP
                  ABAP WEBDYNPRO
Currently PMUSA/JMC customers are using Fire fox (Mozilla), Internet Explorer and Netscape navigator web browsers to access WEBUYPM application.
    BSP supports these web browsers.
Restricted (Some of the features will not be supported by WebDynpro)
Existing WEBUYPM application is written in HTML, Business HTML and JavaScript language.
BSP supports these languages. And it allows even to mix ABAP, HTML and JavaScript thus has more flexibility to convert WEBUYPM application into BSP.
Web Dynpro does not support HTML/JavaScript.
Existing WEBUYPM displays the trade communications (Information tab) based on JavaScript and custom configuration file
BSP supports JavaScript, we can display the trade communications in BSP too.
Web Dynpro does not support Java Script.
Existing WEBUYPM application has different colors schemes, Logos and graphical elements for PMUSA/JMC companies.
BSP support s multiple color schemes/logo. These color schemes can be set dynamically based on company code selection at runtime.
Separate Themes has to be developed for each User Interface elements.
Development effort needs to be involved to even display a logo.
BSP supports client side (user) validations. As most of these validations can be done at client side, the no. of hits on the server can be reduced and thus giving better response for the user inputs.
In this way, performance can be increased.
Web dynpro does not support any client side validations, every time the request must be sent to server to validate the useru2019s input. This increases the traffic and reduces the performance
    WEBUYPM application has logos, images.
BSP supports Client side caching, and thus loads these element from client side very quickly.
Web dynpro supports very little use of caching on the client side, and hence quite a significant delay in starting on some customeru2019s browsers.
BSP has no restriction on user interface possibilities, Ex. Grid, drop down boxes, Font colors, size etc.
Significantly more restrictive in user interface possibilities.
Ex. Only those fonts, which are provided by SAP, can be used.
Appearance can be changed dynamically using same web pages, to support different colors for different companies.
We can have same (or better) look and feel if we convert the application into BSP.
As there is no HTML coding involved in web dynpro the same look and feel as we have it today can't be achieved by using web dynpro.
BSP is built for developing any type of web application (including mobile applications. It can be accessed from desktop, laptop, and any kind of smart devices like PDA.
Web dynpro applications can not be accessed from PDA s (Not possible)
    Why WebDynpro NOT BSP
                 ABAP WEBDYNPRO
                               BSP
Personalization can be given to the end user if they do not want see any of the user-interface elements.
We can not hide any of the user-interface elements (Ex buttons ex) during the runtime.
Note - Current WEBUYPM application does not support any of these options.
Currently we are setting/retrieving the runtime context values in a session.
Web dynpro supports State full applications.
No additional development would be required.
BSP also supports to set runtime values and to retrieve the runtime context values, but minor development would be required to achieve this functionality.
Currently users can see view source for WEBUYPM HTML pages.
Using Web dynpro this can be restricted thus providing more security to the application.
HTML view source can be available to the users, Users can see the HTML client side code (not server side coding) as it does today.
By using Adobe Flash Island, powerful web pages (RIA) can be created.
But, Flash Island comes with Net weaver.
BSP does not support Flash Island. But, BSP supports Java Script.
JavaScript is essential for the new trend of rich internet applications (RIA), it is used by all the new applications, Ajax, Widgets, Flash, and even Microsoft is supporting JavaScript for the new generation of RIA
Web dynpro has wizard tools to generate the code to create/configure the User Interface elements.
Development effort would be required to create UI elements.
We dynpro has uniformity as we use standard colors provided by SAP
Uniformity can be achieved by using style sheets (minor development would be required).
    Thanks
    Bala Duvvuri

  • Web Dynpro ABAP v/s BSP

These questions are for someone who have extensively worked on both Web Dynpro ABAP as well as BSP in the past.
    (1) Will it be worth gaining knowledge on BSP since we already have now Web
Dynpro ABAP platform for web development ?.
Will it help to learn Web Dynpro ABAP if you have good knowledge in BSP ?.
    (2) In release 6.0 we have Web Dynpro ABAP and with the availabiltity of Web
Dynpro ABAP do you think there will be any reason for people to go  for
        development using BSP ?.
    Thanks in advance
    Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep ,
Answer 1) I will suggest to directly Switch it <b>WebDynpro for ABAP</b> .
I have worked in both areas WebDynpro For Abap and BSP.
Now why WebDynpro For ABAP .In my view BSP and WebDynpro ABAP are two distinct and Complex areas . So Instead of putting efforts and energy to explore BSP and trying to apply that Logic in WD ABAP won’t be right deal .
Now let me make you one thing clear . WebDynpro ABAP programming is much <b>more different experience than B</b>SP .It strictly follows <b>MVC</b> (Model View Controller ) .Not just that you need to have good sense of <b>OOABAP</b> classes and methods , interfaces etc.
May at time Achieving some functionality with BSP over<b> web will be easy deal</b> compare to same thing in WebDynpro ABAP .ut as your thinking in Context of WD ABAP will mature you will find it easier .
Answer 2) Ya there might be reason for going for BSP development .
In my view there are to possible reason
    1)     Based on current skill sets of SAP resources and Complexity of thing .Many time if less web Services are there and if you have existing BSP resources then its better for BSP development.
    2)     Amount you want use other things like HTML or javascript .You can more easily use things in BSP .
I will suggest you to go through following links
The specified item was not found.
Hope I have cleared your doubts .
    If yes Reward Points.

    Hi All ,
Can anyone please send  me the Docs or link for   Web Dynpro ABAP .
    Thanks in advance
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
Welcome to the interesting world of Web Dynpro ABAP !
For Web dynpro ABAP you will require SAP ECC 6.0 onwards and WAS 7.0
is a must. It has very good future propspects as this is best UI technology.
In web dynpro ABAP we follow MVC(Model View Controller) architecture.
In this object oriented ABAP is used to provide background functionality. Here, your ABAP skills can be utilized to the fullest. Programming in web dynpro ABAP is different than conventional ABAP programming. Here we strictly follow MVC architecture in terms of controller interface. Also there are many wizards available so that we can directly pick the code from wizards.
e.g We can call BAPI through a service call in web dynpro application. Thus automatically backgroud code for BAPI execution will be generated.
To start with Web dynpro ABAP you can try following tutorial:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a282c952-0801-0010-1eb5-87953e036712
You can start with tutorials and all. There are around six tutorials in SDN library.

  • SRM 7.0 Web Dynpro ABAP Customization

    Hi ,
Upgrading from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0 and would require customization at the Web Dynpro ABAP Component for RFx.
I need to put a pop-up screen when the Buyer clicks on the "AWARD" button on the Bid Screen. Now I am not able to find the award action/event at the Web Dynpro component level where I have to put the pop-up code and other related logic. I also tried getting into the SPRO and find the class which may contain the AWARD event. Please let me know the solution to this problem. Thank you.
    Manoj

    Hi Akash,
Thanks for the reply. Can you please guide me through how to go about the enhancement, keeping the original functionality of the Award Button intact. And I understand coding in method of interface is not possible.

  • Web Dynpro ABAP in SAP E-Recruiting

    Hi,
We just imported SP8 for our SAP E-Recruiting 6.0. SP8 offers Web Dynpro ABAP as candidate UI. One question we have is how WD pages incorporated for recruiters who still use BSP pages. For example, when a recruiter logs into E-Recruiting and finds a specific candidate, he/she can click on "Candidate Profile" to get to that candidate's pages. In BSP technology, recruiter actually uses exactly the same pages that candidate uses for Work Experience, Education, etc.. With candidate UI using WD technology, does recruiter use the same WD pages when displaying candidate profile information? I have been searching all the possible places, such as IMG, SICF, in order find a spot so that I can set the switch on, but so far unsuccessful.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Li ,
At best of my understanding in WD ABAP , its possible to make one WebDynpro page serving same purpose ( showing profile deatils  ) visible for manty( Candidate , as well as Recruiter ) ....
I would like to know what exactly you want from web Dynpro ..then I will be in better position to tell you.
    FYI ...
    1) Web Dynpro ABAP
As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.
2 ) I can give you links that can help you a lot.
First of all start doing SAP SDN tutorials .
Create some compenents with BAPI , Component usage and ALV .

Try to Download demo tutorials from SDN library & Try to search WebDynpro ABAP WebLogs .
Wait not just that SAP has provided you with ample demo example of WD ABAP already bundled with SAP . Just Try out Components starting with WDR . I can tell you few like WDR_TEST_EVENTS ( It shows how every UI elments to use )
    See packages like SWDP_DEMO , SALV_WD_DEMO
    there are many more .

  • How can I call a java object from Web dynpro ABAP application?

I made Web dynpro ABAP application and posted it to SAP EP.
For certain business purpose, we need to call external 3rd party java object using 3rd party's java api in Web dynpro application.
Is there anybody who experienced this kind of java interface issue?
I know Web dynpro Java environment can fully support this kind of requirement. but regarding Web dynpro ABAP, I couldn't find any clue for this.
Any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raymond, ABAP Consultant

if you have jco configured, then you can make calls to java api from ABAP .

  • Upload a .xls file in web dynpro abap

    Hello,
I want to upload a .xls file into a internal table in web dynpro abap (Netweaver 7.31).
The file is not delimited, is not an csv file.
In my view I have an fileUpload UI Element with the attribute data is un attribute type XSTRING and the following function module are not in my system:
    HR_KR_XSTRING_TO_STRING
    ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE
How can I upload the file with this format?.
    Thanks in advance.
    Xavi

Unless the files are zipped together into one archive file, you have to do them one at a time.  Furthermore with the normal browser based fileUpload UI element, you must do them one at a time and the user must manually select each one (browser security limitation).
If you are on 7.01 you can use ACFUpDown to perform multiple file uploads, but there is no file dialog or directory scan so file selection is difficult.
If you are on 7.02 you can use ACFUpdown and it has a multiple file open/save dialog.
If you are on 7.01 you could use FlashIslands to perform the multiple file upload.  I have a tutorial and source code sample for this on SCN.
If you are on 7.01 you could also use ACFExecute to run a batch script on the client side that zips all the files and then upload the zip archive.

  • BADI for changing Appraisal document application name for Web dynpro ABAP

    Hi,
For Appraisal document customizing through PHAP_CATALOG_PA, We have BADI HRHAP00_BSP_TMPL  to change the BSP application name which can be used in Web layout for output display. Using this we can change application name from HAP_DOCUMENT to custom BSP application name
Similarly, what is the BADI for changing Web dynpro ABAP applictaion name? Currently its triggering HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT.
how do we change application name to some custom web dynpro application name
    Regards,
    Kothand

    Hi Karim,
I don't know, if there is any chance to get the Webdynpro application name. At least in the ABAP System fields is no information about the webdynpro application name.
One remark: I have allways problems with BAPIS / BADIS that behave different depending on the caller. Could it be a good idea to pass some information through the interface / parameters?
    Best regards
    Renald

  • How to use HR Macros in Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hai All,
Am new to Web dynpro Abap working in HR req.
Can u pls help me how to import HR Macros in webdy ABAP.
It will be very much helpful to me. Pls provide any link or doc if available.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nalla.B

    Hi Nalla,
if you can't find any Function Modules or BAPIs as Kris suggested, you would basically do this (conceptionally):
    1. What is your business logic supposed to do (output)  and what information does it need (input) for processing.
    2. Build a class in se24 and implement static public methods with the business logic you defined in (1.).
    3. Call the static methods in your WD4A-Framework.
If you are unfamiliar with the class builder, make a local class first in se80, in a test program or alike.
Does this help you a bit?
    regards, Lukas
