Local System Application Launching
Our JWS application needs to be launched locally from a Win32 application with command line options.
I successfully deployed a JSP page that dynamically builds a JNLP file passing <argument>'s. Works great.
Unfortunately the only local launching method is hitting our JSP page with a Web Browser with the plug in installed.
And that can be automatic (programmatic) or manual (user driven) - but in both cases this leaves an empty browser window open after serving the JNLP file.
And so both options, as I can see, are just plain ugly.
The end result is great - params passed and install all from a click in a win32 app. But the empty browser window sucks.
Any considerations for a different method for passing args and local system launching?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Jodi
I have an alternate solution that I'm running down.
Looks like javaws takes at least one command line parameter itself. A url.
So:
javaws http://www.somepage.com/jnlp/getProduct.jsp?dir=c:\temp\fredWill run a JSP page passing the parameter dir, delivering a JNLP document.
Only trick is to query the registry to find the location of javaws.
Sun looks to publish a COM object and a Shell command - so running the above command from Start run gives the same experience.
Come to think of it :
explorer "http://register.industrialinfo.com/jnlp/getProduct.jsp?dir=c:\temp\fred"works as well. But that assumes IE is used on a Win32 box.

Launch multiple WS apps from a local Java application?
I should develop a local Java application that on demand launches webstart applications. Obviously it could be done with a simple HTML file, but the requirements are that launched apps be monitored by the launching app, so they need to be in the same JVM.
I tried
java -Djnlpx.home="C:/programfilesdir/Java Web Start"
-classpath ".;..\classes;..\lib;..\lib\javaws.jar" Launcher
Then Launcher.java calls com.sun.javaws.Main's main method passing the JNLP URL as a parameter.
This launches Java Web Start and then the child app, but for some reason I ignore the Launcher app is exited without exceptions as soon as javaws starts.
Provided that the Java WS app manager is itself a Java app that launches WS app's, any clue on how to do the same thing? Or can the source code be inspected?
Thanks.I should develop a local Java application that on

JVM.You might check out netx, a open-source JNLP client that has extra support for running multiple apps in a single JVM. It includes a SecurityManager that can catch System.exit and close the calling app's windows and resources (applet sounds, etc) instead of closing the JVM. It has other support too like separate look and feels for each app.
It doesn't yet implement all of the spec though, but it does run most JNLP apps.

JSP newbie: local Sun Java System Application Server installation
I am new to JSP and I am preparing to get the software I need. JDK 6 and Netbeans 6 are installed. Now I need an application server. Since the Sun tutorials use the "Sun Java System Application Server" I have choosen this one (version 9.1). As far as I know I could also use, e.g., Tomcat or Glassfish (correct?).
I just would like to install the application server for learning JSP.
Could I safely install the Sun Java System Application Server on my PC so that the application server only listens to local calls? Does it use a lot of system ressources while idle?
Thanks!I`ve posted a shorter version of the question in the hopes of getting a timely answer. Thanks

I have used this tool for three weeks , in the frist week. everything is ok.
no probroblem happened. in the second week ,sometimes my JSC can not startup, so I restarted my JSC. and it can work again. later, the same problem happened again. when I restarted my JSC , it sill does not work, so I have to restart my computer and it startup successfully,
two days later, the same problem happened again. I restarted my computer , it still did not work. so I have to change my port number in the domain.xml. sometimes it woks well, but sometimes I can't not startup.
in the third week, no matter what I do, the problem can not be solved.
some of my colleagues don't have such problem. but some of them have the same problem. when I run my project on the computer that don't have such problem , it can startup. I don't know why, just a little weird.

To kill the appserver manually you can go to the command prompt

Environment:
OS: Windows 7 32/64 bit, Windows 2008 Server 64
bit/ Windows 2012 Server 64 bit
Priority:
- Critical
Requirement: - Since
the Windows Service is running under the Local System Account, we would like to emulate this same behaviour.
Basically, we would like to run CMD.EXE under the Local System Account. So that we can map a network drive to be used by a service using following
command
net use z: \\servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes.
Already Attempt:
We tried to launch the CMD.exe using the DOS Task Scheduler AT command. Here’s a sample command:
AT 10:36 /interactive cmd.exe
But I received a warning that “due
to security enhancements, this task will run at the time excepted but not interactively.”
It turns out that this approach will work for XP, 2000 and Server 2003 but due to session isolation
Interactive services no longer work on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and above.
2. We
tried to create a secondary Windows Service via the Service Control (sc.exe) which merely launches CMD.exe.
<Drive>:\sc create RunCMDAsLSA binpath= "cmd" type=own type=interact <Drive>:\sc
start RunCMDAsLSA
In this case the service fails to start and results it the following error message:
FAILED 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
3. One
suggestion, we found to launch CMD.exe via a Scheduled Task, but
it is not giving any option to launch CMD.exe in interactive mode; so that I can map network drive using net command.
4. I read an article, which
demonstrates the use of PSTools from SysInternals. I launched the command line and executed following command
psexec -i -s cmd.exe
PSTools worked fine, but It seems that in scope of Sysinternals Software License
Terms. You may not "use the software for commercial software hosting services."
Application will deploy on client, which will be like commercial,
so we are not able to use PSTools.
Kindly assist us for achieving the requirement. We have tried all the ways, but nothing is working for us. Kindly suggest.
I will be really thankful.Hi Sir,
Nothing worked from above for us. You can see our remarks on posted query.
That’s why, we posted on forum.
And there will not be any vulnerability, because, if we will use "net
use ..."
in network domain; definitely,
we will provide username and password of mapped drive system.
And, that system, itself is given by client; so that, there must not be any vulnerability; they are ready to provide user name and password.
We need a way; by which we can complete the requirement. Kindly assist.

S. P. Singh -
How to create a window with its own window border other than the local system window border?
How to create a window with its own window border other than the local system window border?
For example, a border: a black line with a width 1 and then a transparent line with a width 5. Further inner, it is the content pane.
In JavaSE, there seems to have the paintComponent() method for the JFrame to realize the effect. Not sure why your code is doing that. I usually use an ObjectProperty<Point2D> to hold the initial coordinates of the mouse press, and set it to null on a mouse release. That seems to avoid the dragging being confused by mouse interaction with other nodes.

j.mouliYou can specify a policy file and grant the following pemission in it:
grant {
permission java.net.SocketPermission "*:1024-65535","accept, connect, listen, resolve";
Specify this policy file using "-Djava.security.policy=your policy file".
BTW, don't forget to run rmiregistry before you launch your own RMI application.
Good luck!

How to install Sun Java System Application Server PE 9 in debian
Hi,
I have ubuntu installed on my system. I wanted to install the Sun Java System Application Server PE 9 on it. I didn't see any debian package for it on Sun's downloads. I downloaded the linux version and tried to install it. I got the following result...
root@vineet :/usr/src# ./java_ee_sdk-5-linux.bin
Checking available disk space...
Checking Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
Error: Could not find the required version of the Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment.
This application needs version 1.5 or higher of the Java(TM) 2 Runtime
Environment. If the required Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment is not installed,
you can download it from the following website:
http://java.sun.com/j2se
Or if you already have the required Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment
installed, try rerunning this application with the following usage:
'java_ee_sdk-5-linux.bin' -javahome <Java(TM) installation directory>
root@vineet:/usr/src# ./java_ee_sdk-5-linux.bin -javahome /usr/lib/j2re1.5-sun
Checking available disk space...
Checking Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
Launching Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
Error: There are no files requiring installation.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
