Local timezone name
Hi, how can i get the local timezone name?
Date now = new Date();
SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("EEE, dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ssa z");
String todate = formatter.format(now);
System.out.println(todate);the output would be:
Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:16:13PM GMT+05:30I want to display IST or PDT inplace of GMT+05:30. Is there any way? Please help.
Thanks
Hi,
For many of the timezones, JRE 1.3.1 displays GMT
offset patterns instead of local timezone name. e.g.,
For the Zone America/Indiana/Indianapolis,
GMT-05:00/GMT-04:00 is displayed instead of
EST-Eastern Standard Time/EDT-Eastern Daylight Time.
Similary, for America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires,
GMT-03:00 is displayed instead of ART-Argentine
Time.
For Asia/Macau, GMT+08:00 is displayed instead of
CST-China Standard Time.
There are some other timezones which have this
behavior.
Has any of you obsered this behavior ? Any solution
for this ?
Thanks
GuruI don't know about other TimeZone issues, but 1.3 is going to have problems with the new DST rules in the US.

With Time Zone Support on Calendar no longer automatically adjust to the local timezone.
Apples support forums are riddled with Discussions about problems with being able to dicate a specific time zone for appointments. Many of these postings, as well as their corresponding solutions, are unnecessarily lenghtly when the root cause of all of this is a one very simple mistake by Apple. Right now to be able to assign a specifc timezone for an appointment using the Calendar app on the iPhone you have to have "Time Zone Support" turned on in Settings. The problem is that when you turn on this feature the Calendar app stops automatically updating the calendar to reflect the local time zone you are in. These are simply two seperate items that have no reason to be tied together. Apple could easily correct almost all of the issues people are having with this topic if it simply split this into two seperate options that users can turn on/off seprately:
1.) Enter time zone for each appointment. YES/NO
2.) Adjust Calendar to the local timezone. YES/NO
It is virturally incomprehensible that Apple has not fixed this. It was clearly a mistake.I have this problem too and am frustrated - it's not solving no matter what i do. And now Siri is totally bonkers too on this new software update - can't even pull from my contacts when I ask her to look someone up. What the heck is going on at Apple software? Have they been hiring a bunch of arrogant, crap programmers? I am seriously thinking of not buying an iPhone again after having one for 5 years. So disappointed!!

How to pass the local file name to the workflow in TC OAWD
Hi everybody!
I have to pass the local file name of the image as a parameter to a workflow in TC OAWD.
By debugging I found the FM which starts the workflow - 'ARCHIV_PROCESS_FAXINPUT' . It has two importing parameters : FRONTENDPATH and BASICFILENAME, but they are not used by calling the FM.
Do you have an idea if there is a DDIC table, which contains the local file name or another way to solve the issue.
Thank you in advance.Hi,
Not sure of what you want.
Have a look at v$session view. Machine column is maybe what you're looking for.
If you want to retrieve the local host executing remote desktop, it's actually not possible natievely, since it's still remote host that is connecting to the database.
Hope it helps. -
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.
I posted in : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/disconnected-network-drive-error-as-follows-an/9a877c38-5e86-4c34-84c2-427a965577c6?page=2
Error:
"An error occurred while reconnecting drive letter to \\network server\share folder.
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.
This connection has not been restored."
1) A workstation is running Windows 7
2) The user has a drive letter mapped to a UNC
3) The connection is interrupted at some point and then restored
4) Upon attempting to access the mapped network drive, the user gets the error about the letter being
already in use.
Extremely disappointed that some of the posts marked as answers were obviously not, shows how poor the moderators here are.
My latest results clearly point to a Windows 7 client problem:
I received the error.
Had run nslookup so had a prompt open.
ran dir z: worked. went to Windows Explorer, same error.
ran dir z:\sharename worked. went to Windows Explorer, same error.
copy con z: test.txt then type test.txt; could create and retrieve file. Went and clicked on mapped drive in Windows explorer and received same error.
Obviously(?) not a Server or Networking problem. Ran Malwarebytes from bootable CD (client doesn't believe in AV). Didn't happen with USB flash drive.
Any other ideas?

When you typed dir z: - is Z: the drive letter you wanted for this share, or it was automatically assigned?

Alternatively you could try using common sense when you post, as well as taking the time to read the entire issue post so that you can avoid showing both your ignorance and arrogance (arrogance without any competency to back it I might add).
Suggesting that it might be "another drive" that took over the mapping shows your lack of reading comprehension and is unhelpful. Please take the time to, once again, read first.
Lastly moderators here generally show little technical skill beyond entering search words into a knowledge-base of articles and then applying the results incorrectly further exacerbating the situation for the customer. -

Resolving local domain name and nameserver address
Hi,
Is there any way to get the local domain name (on Windows it would be NT domain name and on Unix based platform it is DNS server's domain name) and local DNS server address ?
Thanks,

String fqdn = InetAddress.getCanonicalHostName();

Local host name message pops up on start up
I've started getting message on start up saying "local host name is already in use, do you want to change"
this just began happening.
what does this mean and how can i fix it from poping up?
thanksHey R%%^Y,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like another computer on your network may have a similar local hostname. You can change your hostname in System Preferences > Sharing:
OS X Mavericks: Find your computer’s name and address
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13790
Local hostname: Your computer’s local hostname, or local network name, is displayed on your local network so others on the network can connect to your Mac.
Your computer’s local network name is displayed beneath the computer’s name at the top of Sharing preferences.
The local network name is your computer’s name with “.local” added, and any spaces are replaced with hyphens (-). For example, if your computer’s name is My Computer, your local network name is “My-Computer.local.” Local network names are not case sensitive, so “my-computer.local” is the same as “My-Computer.local.”
Thanks,
Matt M. -

Problem with local SAP name inside ABAP webservice
Hi all,
I've created a simple webservice in our SAP development machine, with the normal steps (create RFC, then generated the webservice inside SE38, then activated webservice in SOAMANAGER).
The problem is that when I call the webservice from outside (external .NET program) I get the following error:
There was no endpoint listening at http://srv.devm2.local:8004/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/zwebservice1/060/zwebservice1/zwebservice1 that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
I believe this problem is related somehow with the internal srv.devm2.local SAP name that is unknown from outside.
If I open the WSDL definition, in the end I can find this internal srv.devm2.local reference of our SAP DEV server:
</wsdl:binding>
<wsdl:service name="ZWEBSERVICE1Service">
<wsdl:port name="zwebservice1" binding="tns:zwebservice1">
<soap:address location="http://srv.devm2.local:8004/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/zwebservice1/030/zwebservice1/zwebservice1"/>
</wsdl:port>
</wsdl:service>
</wsdl:definitions>
How can I force the webservice to map our external IP address, instead of the internal local name srv.devm2.local?
Or there it another problem that I'm not aware of?
Thanks all!
jcI meant changing it in the calling application (external .NET). Can you not download the wsdl to your pc and change it there manually and then use this local wsdl in your external application to call the webservice ?
It is just to see if the sap name is the problem. If that is the problem then it should work if you replace the name with the IP address.
If this works then maybe basis need to adjust some settings (firewall ?, access authorizations ?)
Also are you sure the service is activated in SOAMANAGER ? Sometimes when you save it stays inactive and it does not give you a clear error message, easy to overlook.
And try to call the webservice with SOAPUI and the wsdl from soamanager. Does that work ? When I test with SOAPUI I always use the http port and don't forget to fill in user and password.
If soapui call works, then the problem is with the external .NET application. -
JDev 10.1.3.4 on Vista 64 bit not using local timezone setting
When I try to get the current date by doing a new java.util.Date() I get the date and time but its not in my local timezone. I am in Eastern Time zone US & Canada which is GMT - 5.00. JDev for some reason keeps giving the time without subtracting 5 hours from GMT . So if now is 13.41pm its saying it is 18.41pm. I was using jdk 1.5, now using 1.6 and same problem. I tried it on Eclipse and everything works fine. I tried compiling and running a small program without JDev, using the jdks, and all is well. This must be something with Jdev.
Anyone else have the same problem?Hi Thanassis,
not sure what has changed between 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.4 in that area;
but, without knowing Steve's sample in depth, I would say that the error you get in 10.1.3.4 is expected as the current row has changed in your Web Container.
To avoid the JBO-35007, you can change the StateValidation on the iterator
<iterator ... StateValidation="false"/> That's the preferred option when only one (or a few) iterator causes the error
This won't be possible however if the code is generic and involves all iterators (as in CustomViewObjectImpl).
Then you have to change the property EnableTokenValidation on the page definition:
<pageDefinition ... EnableTokenValidation="false"> I'm currently working on other JBO-35007 errors reported by customers and I'm waiting for feedback from development about the Token Validation.
I'll let you know as soon as I get more news.
Regards,
Didier. -
Hi,
So I have 2 PC's and I sign with the same credentials. I have a hard drive which I decided to share. In the setting I created permissions for the user credentials of both vcomputers and have full control access.
Basically, everytime I open my laptop after and it wakes up and try to connect to the network drive, I get the error
An error occurred while reconnecting...The local device name is already in use. The connection has not been restored.
I need to stay disconnecting all drives and reconnecting them. WHen I restart my PC the network drives restore perfectly. I don't understand why it doesnt work on wake.
Any ideas?It seems that when a machine goes into sleep, the network connection is disconnected, naturally, but the machine still has the connection mapped. If you run the 'net use' you will see the connection. When you try to reconnect it, it sees the
connection and gives you the error.
I do not know if you can directly modify this behavior. However, as a work around, you could build a simple script like:
net use 'connection' /delete ( write it into a text file and save it has a .bat file.)
Use scheduled tasks to have the script run right before the machine goes into sleep. You can do so by setting the task to RUN ON Event: event 42 for the KERNEL_POWER source.
You can see http://superuser.com/questions/679195/run-a-script-when-hibernating-windows-8 for more info . -
The local device name is already in use - Mapped Drive
I am having an issue with users losing their mapped drives to a Server 2012 box when they come into work the next day. The error message is "The local device name is already in use".
Autodisconnect has been disabled on both the server and workstations as per Microsoft KB articles, and the only way to correct the issue is a re-boot of the workstation.
I doubt it is the workstations that are the issue as drives mapped to Server 2008r2 do not experience this issue.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Hi,
>>I am having an issue with users losing their mapped drives to a Server 2012 box when they come into work the next day. The error message is "The local device name is already in use".
To tackle the issue, we can try to remove the existing network mapping, and then create a new network mapping for the share.
In addition, although the following KB applies to Window XP, it focuses on the similar issue and can be referred to as reference.
You may receive the "The local device name is already in use" error message when you try to restore a network mapping connection to a shared network folder on a Windows XP-based client

Could take the same JNDI-names for both tags: jndi-name and local-jndi-name
Hello!
I try to design the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml descriptor and I ask myself, if I could
take the same JNDI-names for both tags:
<jndi-name> and <local-jndi-name> ?
Could you give me and advice if this is ok?
Thanksif you have two separate interfaces, you cant bind them to the same jndi
name. you will have a local home that extends EJBLocalHome and a remote
home called EJBHome. also you need to know which one you are looking up
so you can cast it properly, and use it property (remote interfaces need
PortableRemoteObject, remote parameters are passed by value, ...)

How to link OS timezone name with java zi
Hi all,
I need to add some timezone definition in some (HP-UX) server to define DST rules for Iraq.
The zone information already exists in java with "Asia/Baghdad" timezone name.
How does java link the OS timezone found in tztab (e.g. MET-1METDST) with its ZoneInfo id file (e.g. "Europe/Paris")
This is what I'm looking for to link my tztab with zi files.
thanks

Printing sysdate with local month names
Hi ,
I am trying to print the sysdate (dd-mon-yyyy) in the header of my report using rtf templates. I am using a field <?xdoxslt:sysdate('DD Month YYYY')?>), but this displays the monthname in English.
I dont want to be dependent on local or server language settings.
Is it possible to pass the locale (nl-NL ??) and be sure that the local month name is displayed ?
Thanks !<?xdoxslt:month_name(5, 1, ‘nl-NL’)?>
So simple, append dddd || function i gave || append YYYY,
anyway dddd or YYYY is going to be numbers ;)<?xdoxslt:sysdate('dddd')?><?xdoxslt:month_name(5, 1, ‘nl-NL’)?><?xdoxslt:sysdate('yyyy')?>
