Location Based Push Notifications in notification hub in wp8

I'm basically trying to replicate what's being demonstrated at http://channel9.msdn.com/Shows/Cloud+Cover/Episode-118-Location-based-Push-Notifications-with-Windows-Azure-Notification-Hubs.
It's a good demo by Elio Damaggio, but it doesn't cover all of the code that he's used. I'd really like the sample code for this demonstration but it doesn't appear to be available, and I can't find any tutorials or code examples for using location
based push notifications. Just wondering if anyone can knows where I can find a tutorial or code sample?

Hi Rob,
Thanks for posing!
Sorry to said, the code sample didn't publish for us currently. However, I suggest you could follow Elio's ideas to code. Firstly ,he create Notification Hubs on azure and implement it in his windows phone 8 application ( http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/articles/notification-hubs-windows-phone-get-started/)
. Secondly, he used the geolocator class (
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.devices.geolocation.geolocator )  in his project to get current location.
And then he register Notification Hubs and convey the current location variables to Bing API. I think you could pay attention to how to use Notification Hubs tags and geolocator class in this code sample.
Please try it.
Regards,
Will

  • How to send location based push notification

How to send notification from website to the devices in   particular latitude and longitude

I assume you mean you want the backend to send push notifications to a group of devices based on their geographical location?
In that case each device needs to register at startup with the notification service (Windows, Apple, Android, etc.), and get a handle, then register the information (along with its unique identification, such as account or phone number) with
Azure's notification hub. It also has to send its geographical location and the backend needs to keep this information somewhere (in a table, for example). The device needs to periodically update the backend for its new location. When the backend has the need
to send push notifications based on device's geographical location (based on a rectangular grid for example), then it has all the information to do it.

  • I set up a location based reminder in notification last week to test it out.  Worked great, but now I cannot get rid of it.  It does not show up in any list on the notifications pages, but can be found in search.  How can I get rid of this notification?

Last week I set up a location based reminder in notifications to test it out.  Worked great.  However, I can't get rid of it.  It does not show up on any of the pages, either reminders or completed.  I can search and find it, shows it should be in reminders page, but it is not there for me to remove.  Any ideas?

  • Remove push and sms notifications during a call

it is possible to remove audio (push and sms notifications) during a call?

Sorry but there isn't any options for what you are asking.

We are testing an app at work and Push notifications are not getting delivered to certain devices (iphone 4S/ios7.0.4 and ios7.0.3 - Push never worked for these two devices for this app). Received OK responses from Apple PUSH services, but notifications not delivered to these tow devices.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

  • Location based reminders aren't working in iOS7

On iOS6 I routinely set reminders to go off, "when I get home" or "when I leave work".  I simply asked Siri to remind me to do something when I got home and she would.  Not. Any. More.  I doesn't work at all now that I have downloaded iOS7.  She will tell me that she will create the reminder and she does.  I can go into reminders and see that it is all set to go off at the location I have set but it simply doesn't happen.  This is a huge fail as I use this feature all the time to help me be more productive.  HELP!!

In iOS 7 location based Reminders no longer function unless the Reminders app is running in the background.
If I ask Siri to remind me of things when I arrive or leave a location she confirms the request by saying "Here is the reminder for when you get home, should I create it?"  I then confirm and she says ,"I'll remind you". She doesn't mention that Reminders needs to be active in order to remind me.
If this is intended behavior in iOS 7 this is a major step backward in terms of intuitive functionality and ease of use. I mean, I'm asking Siri to remind me of stuff because I'm probably not going to remember to do something. Why should I have to additionally remember to have Reminders running in the background to receive a Reminder notification? Very counter intuitive.
Steps that I have taken to try and resolve issue:
    • Restore as new iPhone and manually install all apps
    • Make sure that Siri is accessing my correct home and office location through my contact information.
    • Made sure Reminder is in my Notification Center and all notifications types are turned on in the Notification Center
    • Make sure the Do Not Disturb feature is not running either manually or scheduled
    • Make sure Siri is on and has "my info" correct
    • Make sure Background App Refresh is on and that it is turned on for Reminders
    • Make sure a sound has been selected for Reminders in the Sounds settings
    • Make sure Location Services are turned on gloabally and that it is turned on for Reminders and Siri specifically.
    • Make sure all System Services are turned on
    • Make sure I have cell signal when I arrive at places I am supposed to be reminded at
    Still doesn't work!!

  • History : Location based reminders?

I use a location based reminder whenever I arrive at a site and when I depart and that works very well.
Is there a way I can get the list of all the date and times that I received the notifications when arriving and departing the location?
    For example :
    date/time : Arriving at <location>
    date/time : Departing from <location>
    date/time : Arriving at <location>
    date/time : Departing from <location>

GGo to settings> privacy > location services > system services > ffrequent locations. And you should have history there if frequent locations has been on. Dates and times.

  • IOS 7 Location Based Reminders aren't working

  • IOS 6.1 and location based reminders

Am I right, and location based reminders are *still* not available for the Reminders App for iPad 3, wi fi + 3G? The knowledge base still claims it works
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4970
    but it doesn't for me.
I have updated to iOS 6.1 just now, and still no luck

I have the iPad 3 Verizon - but celler data not turned on.
I couldn't get the reminders application to work on 6.01 either.
    --- (I haven't checked since updating to 6.1)
I did get the application Anchornote to work on location-based.
I got the notification at the grocery store and at the pizza place.
-Although I did have to open up the iPad to get the notice
-maybe there's a setting for that -just starting to use it.
Anchornote -Might be worth the two bucks.

  • BB Pearl - 8100 Bluetooth: "Unable to locate Object Push Server..."

I just purchased a New 2009 Audi A4 that has Bluetooth, however my Blackberry Pearl (8100) does not correctly transfer the Phonebook.  Based on what I've read on various message boards, I should be happy it at least functions to make & receive calls, however when I try to sync the phonebook, I receive an Error:  "Unable to locate Object Push Server..."
My BB Pearl has the following OS Version - 4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.78).
Based on the Official Audi Documentation, Research In Motion (RIM), Blackberry 8100 (Pearl), GSM, 4.2.0.51 was certified to work with the car.  I assume (maybe incorrectly) since I'm at a higher version, I should be ok.  I reviewed and have tried several options below, however have not been successful.
    1.  Turn on Car & Pair, disconnect Phone, then Reconnect and manually "Transfer Contacts"
    2.  Move Contacts into a Specific Category, then in the Bluetooth Menu just sync that particular category...manually " Transfer Contacts"
    3.  Disable Encryption & manually "Transfer Contacts" In my Bluetooth menu, it says the following Bluetooth Options are available:
    Discoverable: Yes
    Allow Outgoing Calls: Always
    Address Book Transfer:  All Entries
    Led Indicator:  On
    Services
    - Headset
    - Handsfree
    - Dial-Up Networking
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,- Nick

I too have a 2009 A4 Avant Audi - initially the BB and car paired beautifully, but after two weeks the phonebook would no longer transfer.  I managed to solve the problem by deleting the call log.  the BB keeps a lot of history and it seems as if over time, the memory get clogged, preventing the transfer of the telephone book.  On trying to doing it manually, you then get the unable to locate object push server.  Try it, it worked for me

  • Devices and I are in one city but time zone and location based apps show devices location in another city

iPad2 with IOS 8.1.2 located with me in Eastern Time Zone city but settings under General reflects Central Time Zone(Chicago).  All location based Apps are reflecting a Central Time Zone city, one that I have never visited.  I did an erase and restore of a backup prior to this issue but it was not resolved.  What do I do?

I am having a similar issue. I moved about 10-15 miles. Any app, such as Maps, a Weather, etc, that use location keep showing my current location as my old address. I'm interested in hearing the solution to your problem.

how to limit notifications to an email account?
At least, is it possible to choose what email account, the arrival of a message launch a notification.
When running more than a dozen e-mail accounts, it may be appropriate to display only the notifications of one or two major accounts.

Which os are you using?  Which Mail version are you using?

  • Location based reminders not working in IOS8 on iphone 5s, please help?

Location based reminders are not working when using Siri since upgrading to IOS8. Asking Siri to "remind me when I get home" also turns off reminders in Location Services. Please help

I have the same issue with Siri turning off the location setting for reminders.  In fact my location based reminders do not work at all. IPhone 5s, ios 8.1, upgraded to 8.1.1 and that did not fix these issues.
SEems like Apple does not test the location setting every other upgrade to iOS. They break it, then fix it then break it etc...

  • Problems with location based applications

It seems I can never be located by the GPS no matter where i am and i just get a permanently spinning wheel. I have deleted and reloaded the Apps (although even with the generic Maps App i cannot be located) and i have reset the phone Reset iPhone (but havent Reset Settings or Restored yet). I love my iPhone but this is very frustrating. Can someone please help ?

Didn't work unfortunately. My Location Services were On so i proceeded to Restore. All went ok on the Restore but i still have the same problem. I have 4 App's that are location based and none of them work. Your suggestion ? Thanks for your help.

  • Location Based Security application?

    Hello everyone,
I've been searching the App World for a 'Location Based' Security app, but can't seem to find what Im looking for.
I like the security that is native to the Blackberry, but when I am at work or at home, I like to not to have to use the password to access my device.
I am looking for something that would look at the location of the device and know whether or not the security should automatically be turned on.
Does anyone know if this has been developed?
    Regards,
    Dave

If you can change the settings via a script (or maybe a 3rd party product), you could update your AC profile to launch the script/program to either set or unset the configuration.
For example, I use a script (well, plain old batch file actually) to map network drives when a certain work profile is launched. There must be a way to set screen saver policy via a windows shell script (WSH)...
