Location of SunServer7 Servlet.jar file?

Hello All I have AppServer7 development edition installed on my machine and I'm trying to compile a simple helloworld servlet to test my installation, but I can't seem to find servlet.jar in the AppServer7 directory structure. Any ideas which file has the servlet interfaces?
Thanks,
Coop

The forum for AppServer questions is:

Having said that, did you check under server_root/jwsdp/common/lib directory?

  • Locating classes given many JAR files

    This may seem a basic thing, but I'm having trouble figuring out how people locate the correct JAR file to include when given just the package and class name.
    In searching for a solution to a problem I'd come across web document that tell me all about a particular class or set of classes that will solve this or that problem. The document goes on to give me the package name that the class(es) belong to. The problem is, these classes are in a JAR file and the document doesn't tell me the name of the JAR file or where to get it - assuming I don't have it.
    Assuming I do have the JAR file, that JAR file is usually in a directory with many more JAR files (for example, WSAD includes a whole bunch of JAR files or me). What's the best way to locate the package and/or class file(s) within all these JAR files? Why don't authors tell us the name of the JAR file these class(es) are in? Does anyone else have this problem besides me?

    Haven't tried. But still worth having a look into this free plug-in for Eclipse.

  • Servlet jar file

    I am trying to compile a simple example servlet. It is looking for the javax.servlet.* and javax.servlet.http.* import classes.
    I discovered that I needed to add c:\j2sdkee1.2.1\lib\j2ee.jar to my classpath for this to compile. c:\j2sdkee1.2.1\lib would not work.
    My question is this: why do I need to explicitly name the jar file in my classpath? I compiled on another machine that only had c:\j2sdkee1.2.1\lib and it worked there without naming the jar file explicitly.
    Thanks,
    Denise

    Possibly the other machine had a copy of the jar file in its extensions directory.

  • Compiling file with servlet.jar

    Hi,
    I can compile my file under the arm/pdm package fine by using this command:
    javac -classpath .;.. pdm\FileName.java
    but now i wrote a servlet which imports the javax.servlet directory.
    So in order for the class to compile i have to give it the path of the servlet.jar file which is in this directory: c:/jdk1.3.1_07/lib/servlet.jar
    The problem am having is that i can't give both the classpaths at one time in order to compile my servlet which also uses classes in the pdm directory and also from a different directory under arm.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Perhaps
    javac -classpath .;..;c:\jdk1.3.1_07\lib\servlet.jar pdm\FileName.java

Could someone please help or do i have to try to get j2eesdk working - at this stage it wont unpack on this system
    Thank you

    Thanks
    Had just found that the name of the servlet container had changed from servlets.jar to servlets-api.jar and where it was located. All Working now except for the web.xml. Just trolling through the help files, and tutorials to try and get it working and then should be fine. Thanks again

  • Add jar file to forms application standard java library

    Overall Problem
    I created a jar file using JDeveloper to be loaded as a bean in forms builder. But the jar file ended up being really large because I had to add some standard libraries that JDeveloper knew about but Forms didn't to this jar file, it takes forever to load in my forms application.
    Background
    Jdeveloper has a drop down list of standard libraries that aren't commonly used that a developer can have included/referenced into their java project.
    Oracle Forms Library
    One of the standard libraries in JDeveloper that can be referenced when compiling a project is the Oracle Forms library. I have to reference this library in my compilation of my java project in JDeveloper because some of the java code in this project requires the Oracle Forms library. When the jar file is created in JDeveloper the Oracle Forms Library isn't actuaally physically located anywhere in the jar file that is produced for deployment. But the jar file runs perfectly in my forms application. Forms builder and the forms application server seems to already know about the Oracle Forms library.
    Java Media Framework Library
    There is another standard library listed in JDevelopers drop down list that I recently chose to use in my Java Application, the Java Media Framework library. But my forms application couldn't find any of the Java Media Framework classes when it launched the jar file that was deployed from JDeveloper. Obviously the classes wern't physically located in the jar file I created, because I figured that the forms application server/forms builder would already know about about this standard library that JDeveloper knew about.
    Not very effective Solution
    So I physically put/included the whole Java Media Framework Library into my jar file and then my form launched fine. But it now takes forever to load. How can I add the Java Media Frame work library jar files as one of the standard libraries that the forms builder and application server already sees (Like the Oracle Forms Library) without having to put the library in the forms/java folder and wait for the this jar file to download to the user's cache?
    Side note: The Java Media Framework Library is allowing the ability to launch video from my form. Very useful tool!!! So it would be good if forms had this already added as a standard library like it is in JDeveloper. But I only see the ability to reference this library in DS 10gR2 for JDeveloper.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Yes I have successfully been able to run a javabean application that uses the Java Media Framework methods within a forms module. The video seems to play and interact normally in the forms environment (launched from a DS or the AS).
    Basic Requirements
    Develop the java application functionality look and feel, including adding funtionality calls to the JMF library where needed.
    Develop an Oracle Forms Interface wrapper that will be the initial class called from the bean area, to hande any communication between the bean and the form.
    Configure the deployment of the jar to physically include all the needed classes from the JMF library.
    Sign the jar file and make sure it is placed in the forms/java folder and referenced in the appropriate forms configuration files.
    Depending on the type of video that the will be played certain .dll files might need to be added to the users system folder. Using H264 (.mov) should work fine without any extra .dlls.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • How to include .jar files in coldfusion code

    To Integrate our cfm code with paypal jar files we do the
    following steps with our local coldfusion server ,and to run and
    integrate the paypal Java SDK jar files, I think we need to do the
    same process on the server, can you suggest any thing to do the
    following setting for my domain on the server, without setting the
    class path in coldfusion administrator.
    The ColdFusion application server must be configured to know
    the location of the PayPal JAR
    files, and your ColdFusion Markup (CFM) pages must be
    configured with the absolute path to
    the PayPal API certificate for the PayPal API user on whose
    behalf the calls are made.
    1. Install the PayPal Java SDK “Installing the
    SDK”.
    2. Copy a subset of the Java SDK JAR files to a location
    accessible by the ColdFusion
    application server. The JAR files are in SDK_root\lib and
    their exact names are as
    follows:
    – bcmail-jdk14-128.jar
    – bcprov-jdk14-128.jar
    – paypal_base.jar
    – paypal_stubs.jar
    sax2.jar
    – xerces.jar
    – xpp3-1.1.3.4d_b4_min.jar
    – xstream.jar-1.1.3.jar
    3. With the ColdFusion Application Server Administrator, add
    the absolute path of the
    location you determined in Step 2 to the Java and JVM
    CLASSPATH environment variable.
    4. Restart the ColdFusion Application Server.
    Suggest me how to include .jar files without setting
    classpath.

    > Suggest me how to include .jar files without setting
    classpath.
    Copy them to {CF_HOME}\lib, where {CF_HOME} is, for example,
    C:\CFusionMX7. Restart Coldfusion.

  • Validating xml-files inside jar-files  for JWS

    I want to use xml-files inside a jar-file and want to validate them with dtd-files,
    located in the same jar-file. This does work, but only as long as the dtd-file is
    in the same directory as the xml-file.
    For example, I have no problem, with a DOC Type-statement like
    <!DOCTYPE questestinterop SYSTEM "ims_qtiv1p1.dtd" >
    With this statement, however, one needs an approprate dtd in every directory containing an XML-file of that type.
    If however i want to gather the necessary dtd's in a directory one (or more) levels above with a DOCTYPE-statement of the form
    <!DOCTYPE questestinterop SYSTEM "../ims_qtiv1p1.dtd" >
    I get error messages of the form

    though the dtd-file is in the parent-directory (inside the jar) and the unpacked xml-file can be successfully validated.
    Why does this happen. How can one use a single dtd for multiple xml-files (of the same type) in different directories?.

    In reply to myself, replacing the HTMLBrowser constructor with this;
    public HTMLBrowser()
                  URL url;
                  try
                       // Construct the URL
                       url= this.getClass().getResource('/'+dir+'/'+startPage);
                       setPage(url);
                  catch (Exception e)
                  System.out.println( "Problem setting help homepage");
                 setEditable(false);
                 addHyperlinkListener(new LinkListener(this));
            }made it work. This is because seemingly you need '/' at the start of the resouce's path and '/' as the separator, regardless of platform.
    I hope this helps someone else.

  • Some problems with servlet.jar and tomcat 4.1.27

    Hello everybody,
    I used to work with tomcat 3.3.1 and i've decided to use tomcat 4.1.27 now. The manual explains that we have to change de version of servlet.jar, it's done with servlet-2.3.jar but on tomcat starting i have this message:
    jar not loaded. See servlet spec [...]. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class
    what can i do, i've red all de documentation and i think all versions a OK??
    thanks per advance
    antoine

    I am running Tomcat 4.1.18, so your configuration may be slightly different. I found the Servlet.class file you are missing residing in the Tomcat/common/lib directory in the Servlet.jar file. Check your path and also make sure your Servlet.jar file contains the missing class.

  • Which jar file is required for jsp dynpro page programming ?

    Hi all:
       I use NWDS wizard to create one small jsp dynpro page application. However the project has some errors, it said "
    This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type com.sapportals.htmlb.page.DynPage (typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath)     Test1.java     NewParProject1/src.core/com/xinao/test     line 0
    " However, I found the class DynPage is not found in current project.
    I have already added com.sap.portal.htmlb_api.jar into my project.
    Where can I locate and find that jar file (which include the DynPage class ) ?

  • Create  object for a class in jar file

    Hi
    I am using Oracle JDeveloper 10g. I have created a main application using Swing/JClient technologies. I am facing a problem for the past one week. I let u all people know my problem and I kindly request you to send a solution if known possibly confirmed.
    Problem: I have created a main application using swing that class extends JFrame. This main application consists of two parts. One left side panel and one right side panel. Left side panel contains JTree component. Each item in that tree refers to a class file located in a separate jar file.i.e that acts as a separate application. If we are executing separately that jar file class, I am able to see that small application running. If I am selecting an item in JTree during runtime, I should place that small application from the respective jar file in the right side panel of the main application. I can locate the jar file and even I can create object to that particular class file. But I cannot execute the application even separately and also not able to place in the right side panel of the main application.
    Note: The small application from the jar file contains one class file containing main method. That class file extends JPanel and implements JUPanel. i.e., with data binding. I am trying to create an object for this class file with data binding from my main application. Navigation bar is used in the main class file.
    If possible can any provide me solution at the earliest. Waiting eagerly for the positive reply.
    Regards,
    s.senthilkumar

    Can you sure that there is only a A class in the classpath of Tomcat, I advise you to add
    some statements into the A class so that you can be sure which classloader is used
    to load the A class.

  • Servlet.jar not in jdk 1.3.1?

    I've always added servlet.jar into the classpath when compiling servlets and it worked fine until i upgraded to jdk1.3 which dosent come with a servlet.jar and cant find javax.servlet classes normally- so what do i have to do then besides finding my old servlet.jar file? what are the javax.servlet classes hidden in for jdk13?

    You can download the J2EE add-on to the JDK1.3.
    That will have the javax.servlet

  • JAR file updating project config file error. Help needed!

    Hi all,
    I got a problem when I want to use an existed jar file. There is a method called setConfig which can read and update the properties inside a property file which will be located inside the deployed jar file. But when the other project want to use this jar file. It causes the following error:
    Property 'configfile' threw exception; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI is not hierarchical
    The code might cause this error is like:
    String temp = configfile.substring(CLASSPATH_IND.length()).trim();
    URL url = BaseConfigureFactory.class.getClassLoader().getResource(temp);
    try {
    tempcfg = (new File(url.toURI())).getAbsolutePath();
    } catch(URISyntaxException use) {
    throw new IllegalArgumentException(use);
    It seems like the url is wrong so that the program can not find the configfile. Does anyone give some suggestions? Thanks

    I have all of e.printStackTrack( ) in my try - catch block. But i also think the blank screen appears because the class can not find my resources. Maybe it's my fault, because i create by hand a folder name "res" in project folder, then put all my resource in this folder. And in Eclipse when i try to get these resource, i wrote something like this:
         Image robot1N, robot1E, robot1S, robot1W;
         private void initResources() {
              try {
                   String sb = "car1";
                   robot1N = ImageIO.read(new File("res\\img\\unit\\" + sb +"_N.png"));
                   robot1E = ImageIO.read(new File("res\\img\\unit\\" + sb +"_E.png"));
                   robot1S = ImageIO.read(new File("res\\img\\unit\\" + sb +"_S.png"));
                   robot1W = ImageIO.read(new File("res\\img\\unit\\" + sb +"_W.png"));
              catch(Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
         }Maybe the string of path to resource is right in Eclipse but wrong in Window?
