Lock entries  increase by single user

Dear Friends,
Please tell me how lock entries increase by single user. if table is lock by perticular user then why for same user id lock enries are increase.
Thanks,

locks are created at R3 level by enque process with the help of message server is any user inserting or updating the data the table will be locked under aurgument which you can find in SM12 (select the user and press enter) since it is locked under table argument not under user name is te same user try again he will get popup saying table is locked.

    Which keyboard layout you were using? German, French ... I suppose your layout is reset to the default: US and you are unable to find the "?" or "/" ...
    Please have a look into the keyboard viewer, to see how the layout of your keyboard is actually.

  • Single user mode locks up hard

    Is anyone else having this type of problem? I had it with both Panther and now also with Tiger. I've filed a bug on this with apple, but they closed it citing the usual "you have third party ram" argument. The ram has zero issues with anything else and I've done some very extensive testing of it (running remember for 72+ hours without a single fault).
    Basically what happens is within 2 seconds of getting the root shell prompt in single user mode it locks up. By lock up I mean that the keyboard is locked out and no method of input works. Funny enough if there was a key pressed down when this happens the key keeps repeating, even if I unplug the keyboard.
    This machine seems to be kind of haunted (have other problems with it as well, all registered with Apple) but I can't get them to replace it.
    Just looking to see if I'm the only one with this problem or not ....
    TIA

    Are you using a Bluetooth keyboard? Some people have reported being unable to type in Single User mode with a Bluetooth keyboard, even though everything else works normally.

    Somewhere on other forums, one's talking about Configuring locking: sizing the system & DB_ENV->set_lk_max_locks(),
    but how can I my environment the same way with a perl script?

    I'm configuring my environment in my Java application via this DB_CONFIG file, and it definitely works. When I had problems like you have, I just increased the number of locks, lockers, objects and everything started to work just fine. Are you sure that you have put DB_CONFIG into environment home directory. Did you increase the number of locks, lockers, objects sufficiently?

    UPD. Does your application have enough permissions to read DB_CONFIG file?

    When I can see this error message in default log files, all emails are enqueued but not dequeued.
    Emails are just piled up in a queue directory, and getting increased.
    To solve this thing, I just restart mail server(with stop-msg, start-msg command) and then emails are dequeued.
    In a web site, I found those error messages can be found when some interrption occurred like Control-c in product using Berkeley DB .
    I know JMS is using Berkeley DB but at that time there is no chance to use Control-c.
    With those log, I just can assum imexpire started when snapshots job is not finished completely(although log file shows snapshots job is finished).
    Imexpire started before snapshots not release locker
    But I am not Sure.
    I don't know why this thing happened and what is solid workaround.
    If someone had the same problem as mine, plz reply
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to block a single table for a single user

    Hi all.
    I want to block a single Z table for a single user. How to do this?  If he/she tries to display data using SE16 or SE11 Tcode he/she should get an error message.
    Regards,
    Prajwal K.

    Hi Prajwal,
    We can use the function modules ENQUEUE_E_TABLE for locking tables and the function module DEQUEUE_E_TABLE for unlocking tables. With this method, we don't need to lock objects in order to lock the tables. In other words, any table can be locked/unlocked using these function modules.
    Check this sample code:
    *Locking Table*
    data:
    varkey like rstable-varkey.
    varkey = sy-mandt.
    locking the tables............................
    call function 'ENQUEUE_E_TABLE'

    MODE_RSTABLE = 'E'
    tabname = 'MARA'
    varkey = varkey
    X_TABNAME = ' '
    X_VARKEY = ' '
    _SCOPE = '2'
    _WAIT = ' '
    _COLLECT = 'X'
    exceptions
    foreign_lock = 1
    system_failure = 2
    others = 3.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Why can't I enter single user mode on my Mac Mini for an admin password reset?

    Hi,
    I recently created a new user account for my mac and deleted the old one, not realising that this was the only account with admin priveleges. As such, I no longer have access to administrator priveleges, and cannot grant them to my new user account.
    I have tried to boot in single user mode and recovery mode but neither command results in any reaction on the part of my computer.
    This thread follows on from a previous, unrelated disscussion:
    BDAqua: If you hold alt key at bootup do you see a lock in the middle?
    Yenots: No...what does this mean?
    BDAqua: If it did, it would mean Firmware Password Protection was enabled, which prevents booting in other modes, so that's not the problem, are you using a wired Mac KB, or Windows KB?
    Yenots: I'm using an 'Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad' [ http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB110B/B/apple-keyboard-with-numeric-keypad-br itish ]
    If you find me here BDAqua, hit me with your knowledge!
    Any other contributions are welcome and, now we're under the right heading, will hopefully help other users who have encountered this problem.
    Thanks, Cristo

    Hi,
    Thanks for the link to MacPilot, and the sexy screenshot. I found an archived version for 10.4 on the koingosw website. That solves getting into single user/safe mode. Though I'd be interested to see whether sudo nvram boot-args="-s" will result in single user boot.
    As for creating administrator priveleges for my new user account, I've found a method which looks good:
         \single user mode\
         cmd-s
         \mount drive\
         mount -uw
         \open 'directory access'\
         lauchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectory.plist
         \list users\
         ls /Users
         \change password\
         dscl . passwd /Users/<username> <password>
    I think that this method intends that if I change the root users password I'll be changing the administrator password  (as root is the only user with administrator priveleges), and subsequently be able to change my new user accounts priveleges using 'netinfomanager'. But I'm not 100%. Could you give me your opinion on this?
    Furthermore, three keys 'L' 'O' and '(' aren't working on my keyboard, which means I can't try this until I find an intact keyboard to borrow. I was thinking maybe a mod version of the above instructions would work in terminal using sudo, so I could use the keyboard viewer to type the missing characters. If you have any ideas on constructing such a mod I would be interested to hear them.
    Otherwise, Thank You for your help BDAqua! And enjoy your summer wherever you are.

  • Wipe a HD via Unix in Single User Mode?

    Is it possible to wipe a hard drive using diskutil or another method when booting up in Single User Mode? We routinely need to wipe drives and if possible, this would be the easiest.
    I suspect because the OS that boots in Single User Mode is on that same drive will make this impossible.
    Thanks in advance for your tips and comments,
    Doug

    Yes, you cannot erase an OS while it's 'hosting' the erasure. Single user mode is part of Mac OS X, so it's on the hard drive, not in the firmware or anything super-low-level like that. Oh well. So... you might be able to erase the vast majority of user, application, and even OS files, but it won't be complete and won't be 'as good as' a volume-format.
    A couple alternatives come to mind (sorry if you know all this. Not trying to be pedantic or patronizing, just making sure you know your options).
    We keep host computers around just for running wipes, backups, and diagnostics that cannot run from a drive holding the booted OS. You simply restart the to-be-wiped Mac holding the 't' key, connect it via firewire, and treat it as an external hard drive.
    You could also just boot from a Mac OS X install disc and wipe from the copy of Disk Utility included on the disc. Better yet, throw a +bona fide+ copy of OS X onto a pocket hard drive, boot the victim-Mac from that (hold option while it is first starting up), and wipe the internal HD normally, now that it's not in use. You could maybe even use single user mode in the booting OS, like you'd imagined, and format from there (I'm not sure that would be faster than letting it boot normally, though, as you might have to use "dd" or some other similar low-level wipe method, as I don't think the frameworks required for Apple's cli "diskutil" are available in single user mode).
    I haven't tried to use it on a Mac, but I have a 256 MB USB flash drive with, er, ['Darn' Small Linux|http://tinyurl.com/5md7t] on it for diagnosing Windows boxes. It runs a script on boot which, if you don't intervene to run utilities or what-have-you, will wipe all attached hard drives and shut down. I keep it locked up for understandable reasons, but its super useful just as a time-saver, booting most machines and beginning the countdown-to-wipe in under ten seconds.
    Anyway, let us know what your goals and thoughts are.
    Cheers, Joel

  • Ibook left hanging! Got info from single user mode - can u translate?

    Hi, am panicking here so help really appreciated!
    Got my ibook, G3, 17" screen. It won't start up. It goes as far as the spinning circle of lines. Tried to get into single user mode (got Applejack there) but it ends up saying 'we are hanging here'.
    The lines previous to that include the following (don't know if any of this is useful as don't really understand it):
    nfs_mountroot failed: 9
    nfsboot: ntworking not initialised
    panic (cpu0): nfsbootinit failed with 6

    ...and then it repeats most of that again until it says:
    panic: we are hanging here
    and I can't type anything. The cursor just sits.
    Have also tried disk utility when booted from cd. It tries to verify the disk but says:
    Catalog file entry not found for extent.
    The volume needs to be repaired.
    Volume check failed.
    Error: the underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)

    And it says the same when I try and repair the disk. Do I need to erase the disk? I do back up regularly onto zip disks.
    Tried to reinstall system software but when you are prompted for a place to install it onto, there are no disks shown!
    How bad is it????

    Hi, Nikki.
    What happens if you try to start up in Safe Mode? This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
    If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up, try to restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and repair permissions on the hard drive.

  • Won't boot normally or in recovery and single user mode, safe mode hangs up halfway

    iMac locked up with visual glitches while playing the Mac beta client of League of Legends. Had to force a shutdown by holding the power button. Now it won't boot; after the Apple logo and spinning wheel I just get a white screen. I tried launching in recovery mode, that didn't work. Then I tried safe mode; the bar filled a little over half and then nothing but white screen. I was able to boot single user mode once; ran fsck -fy and rebooted, still white screen. Now I can't get back to single user mode. I booted with command option P R to reset the NVRAM and got the second chime, but still nothing.
    Luckily all my important files are in the cloud, but I'm really hoping my computer isn't completely dead. I haven't had any issues in the past. I've even been playing LoL for over a month with no issues, until now when I tried to play the newer game types, Dominion and ARAM; both caused visual glitches forcing shutdowns. I was able to restart my computer with no problem after the first two visual glitches, but after the last one I am stuck at the white screen as I described above.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    I'd bet the drive is damaged. You could try reformatting if possible. Again, you are booting from the Recovery-10.8.2 disk if you can. If you can't, then you will need to use the installer disc that came with the computer.
    Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
          left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
            the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
          the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How can I mount a CD Drive in Single User?

    Thank you for reading my question.
    I need to run single user mode on my iMac because of a disk problem.  I would like to be able to mount the cd drive while I am in single user mode.  I would also like to be able to mount usb hard drives with confidence, so that I can copy off files from the internal hard drive.
    I am in single user mode, which I get to by holding down Command-S on startup.  I can look at the disks that are attached to my computer by executing
    ls -l /dev/disk*
    However this appears to be adding disks.  I started with /dev/disk2 and /dev/disk2s1 etc which I understand are partitions on that external drive.  Now when I list /dev/disk* I have /dev/disk3 and a couple of partitions on those devs.  Is that normal?  Have I not unmounted disks properly?
    I have been using a directory that already exists as the mount point for my usb drives using
    mount -t hfs /dev/disk1 /cores
    which worked fine.  Alas the disk I mounted on that directory was too small.  Now I can't mount a disk on there.  Do I need to unmount or fix up that assignment?
    If I were to create a directory in /Volumes is that advisable?  How do I make the root directory readable is that by using 'mount -uw'?
    Thank you.  Please if you answer my question, try to be clear on what commands to use and why.  Bear in mind that other people will read this, and no one on the web seems able to write suggestions very clearly.  Maybe we can be the first!  If I have not been clear, please feel free to ask for clarification.  i am not a total unix newbie.  Rather in the 20 years since I was a sysadmin, my memory has faded.
    Pete

    I think you need to post this in a different forum.  I think the Developer Forums would be the right choice.
    In any event from the little Unix I know you can't mount a removable device until it's connected which means you need to put a CD/DVD into the optical drive.  At that point if you enter 'df' you should see the device if it is mounted automatically (which I believe it does.)
    In single-user mode the entire drive is readable and all files accessible.  You are the 'root' user.  In order to put the system into write mode you must enter 'mount -uw /'.  Note the '/' at the end of the comnmand line.  That makes the entire system writeable.
    You do not need to create a directory in /Volumes.  When the CD/DVD is recognized an entry in /Volumes will appear unless the disc is unformatted.
    Now take some of the above with a grain of salt.  I'm certainly no Unix expert.
