Lock release inside of update process

Hi All,
Is there any way to release (dequeue) a lock inside of an update process that was originally created inside of the dialog process (with scope 2)?
It appears to me that since they are separate processes, they have separate lock owners and therefore itu2019s impossible for the update process to release it.
There must be a way...

...Or maybe there isn't a way...

I am not able to catch this error inside program. seems it goes to ST22 ...how to catch this inside program?

Regarding issue2, this is not solved, How to handle the SQL error when update record?
Now its going to SAP office and gives error. not showing error at same place.
This is the standard behavior when an "update"(processed via an Update WP) fails.
If you don't want this to happen you can opt for local updates(SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL). You would like to read the [behavior of messages in local updates|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_702/en/abenabap_message_update.htm].

I was updating the software on my iPad2 and while trying to multitask stopped the update process. My iPad is now locked up and unresponsive. Does anyone have ideas about how to re-load the update?

You will need to hold down the power + sleep button, wait for restart, then hold home. iTunes should then be in DFU mode. Once in DFU mode connect to iTunes and click "Restore". PRESTO!

Error in Update Process for optimistic locking

I tried to create a tabular form according to this How-To:

which worked fine until I tried to implement the optimistic locking.
I use the same update process:

but as soon as I try to apply the changes in the update process I get an error message saying: PLS-00503: RETURN statement required for this return from function
So, if i delete the row with the "return;" statement, I get no error anymore, but when I test the optimistic locking I get an error as soon as I try to update a row in the first place.
What am I doing wrong?

Lock records when in Update Mode / problem with 2 users on 1 document

Hi,
when user A updates e.g. a purchase order and user B goes into this purchase order and updates e.g. the remark before user A, then user A cannot save his changes. Imagine user A has put in several new lines and has made several price adjustments, his work will be gone.
In most cases this should not happen very often, but it could. Since B1 recognizes when another user has updated the document before, it should be possible to solve this situation more convenient (either by lock, saving to a new document, comparing to the old version, etc).

Your request is understandable. It may not have big problem to change current process by coding. However to lock records whenever in update mode, that could create too many locks. It is basically not good for performance. The trade off may be allowing save as function. However, this may not be a desirable solution for most end users.

Alternative for BAPI_REQUISITION_CHANGE, to run this in update process.

Hi,
I'm using BAPI_REQUISITION_CHANGE, to change a purchase requisition Qty related to a purchase order. This Bapi is used in a report program which inturn is triggered by an output type, on Purchase Order creation.
Now, when this BAPI is executed, it ends up in dump saying "Invalid COMMIT WORK in an update function module".
The search criterion it gave was ..
"COMMIT_IN_POSTING" C
"SAPLBAPT" or "LBAPTU05"
"TRANSACTION_END"
And the error analysis as
Calling a COMMIT WORK in an update process is not allowed
because the function modules triggered in a Logical Unit
of Work cannot then be processed correctly.
This clearly shows that commit is being done inside the BAPI. Is there any other way that I can update Purchase Requisition Qty?

How to lock a row before update using UPDATE statement ?

I want to lock a row before updating using the UPDATE statement! is there any "reserved word" that I can append to an update statement so, that the row get locked!, also, will the lock gets released automatically once the update is done or do I have to explicitly release the lock?
how can I do this ?

Update process for installed CS extensions

Hi,
Once a CS extension has been built and installed what options are there if you want to send out a update for a CS extension you have developed, how do you notify users who have installed the extension that there is an update.
As CS Extensions created through CS Extension Builder are based on Adobe AIR is it possible to implement a update process similar to desktop AIR applications where it checks everytime it starts up if there is an update available or is there another solution?

Even if the whole process is not yet finalized yet, a few things can be said already:
Updates will be deloyed in the customer tennant => no explizit installation take place.
The update will probably be visible via the business configuration or a kind of system message.
Updates are also independent of the ByDesign release cycles.

E63 Lock Code Problem After Update

I recently checked for a firmware update for my E63. I got excited when i found out that there was an availabla one, the 510 .21 .010 and I immediately started the update process. Everything went ok but when i switched On the phone it asked me for the lock code after 3 or 4 seconds. I tried the default one , 12345 but it showed a code error message. I can't do excatly nothing but the weird thing is that buttons Calendar,Contacts and Mailbox work but i still can't do nothing else.The Home button does not work. It doesn't seem a normal behaviour.Could it be a bug? I read a lot of posts about this problem so this means I'm not the only one having this problem. Please help me. I really need my E63 back as it is my do-everything tool. Maybe a new firmware with this bug fixed would be best.

Make synchronous the update process of the FB01 transaction.

Hello, we are using the BTE 1080 that is inside of the FB01 transaction
to execute a "call transaction" to the F-51. At this point we use the
FI accounting document data (identified by: {BUKRS, BELNR, GJAHR})
"created" by FB01 as an input to the F-51 "call transaction".
Due to the update process in the FB01 is asynchronous (in update task)
some times the update process delays longer than usual and the F-51 fails
because is unable to find the FI accounting document data in the database.
We could use the "wait" instruction to wait for a period of time until the
"update task" write data to the database, but we don't know how much
time it will take. We would like to know if it is possible to make synchronous
the update process of the FB01 in order to warranty the existency of the
data in the database that will be used by the next transaction F-51.

I don't think it's possible. You can do a simple select from BKPF and if the new document is already there then don't wait. Otherwise wait for reasonable time and check again.

Is that possible there was the field ZDATE in your form interface/ context and now it is not? I guess some source has changed so the field in the form (binding to the not existing field) cannot be processed. Otto

I could be wrong but maybe change the hidden items to be like:
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(05,DECODE(CHF_STATUS,'DEV',1,0),'','f05_' || ROWNUM)
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(08,DECODE(CHF_STATUS,'RVW',1,0),,'','f08_' || ROWNUM)
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(11,DECODE(CHF_STATUS,'PRD',1,0),,'','f11_' || ROWNUM)so that the values are 0/1?
Also, you have
DECODE (CHF_STATUS,'DEV',ROWNUM)instead of
DECODE (CHF_STATUS,'DEV',0,1)in the checkboxes, as I would expect.
I'm also not sure why you need to duplicate the checkboxes (f07,f10,f13) as hidden items (f05, f08, f11) if they are both 0/1 values.
