Locks on Update

Problem: One Session executes an update-Statement on a single row. The transaction is not committed yet. Another session updates the same row. The second update-Statement will wait until the first session commits or rollbacks.
Is there any possibility to do an update that will not wait, eventually returning an error?
null

Is this specified NOWAIT function a part of the SELECT statement for the row or part of the UPDATE statement?
IE. Oracle documents a SELECT from <table> where <condition> FOR UPDATE NOWAIT to lock a row, but is there a similar UPDATE <table> SET <change> where <condition> NOWAIT? Thank You!!

  • Locking in update task

    Hi,
I have a weird issue with locking during update task.
I have a report, which enqueue a specific lock object in exclusive cumulative mode (mode E) with scope 2.
Afterwards, I call FM in update task, which also enqueue exactly the same object in exclusive cumulative mode with scope 2. The FM is triggered after commit work has been executed.
For some reason, the enqueue during the update task process fails (because object is locked by other owner).
As I know, there shouldn't be any locking problem because the update task inherits the lock owner (as described in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/7b/f9813712f7434be10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm).
Does anyone why does it occur? How can I solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shai

    Hi,
    Thanks for the answer.
    Why is that?
The lock is defined in exclusive cumulative mode, what means that the same lock can be requested by the same owner several times.
This scenario works just fine in normal dialog process (with two sequent locks), but fails in update task.
    For your knowledge,
    Shai

  • HT4972 my phone has locked  after updating , what should i do now to unlock ? now i don't live in  usa ,i live in Bangladesh and i don't have that sim that i used to . i want to use Bangladeshi sim .

my phone has locked  after updating , what should i do now to unlock ? now i don't live in  usa ,i live in Bangladesh and i don't have that sim that i used to . i want to use Bangladeshi sim .

The phone was hacked to unlock it. It relocked when you updated. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. If you are not/never were an AT&T customer and you do not have an original store receipt from either an AT&T or Apple store in the U.S. for a no commitment AT&T iPhone, they will NOT unlock it.
    Buy a new phone.

  • DB dead lock during update

    Hello,
In our R/3 Enterprise 4.7 Production system running on Windows NT/MSSQL, I saw update errors in t-code SM13.
    Error details:
    Date : 07/19/2009
    No. of errors : 24
All errors are for background user BATCH-ID
    Function Module    :    RKE_WRITE_ACT_LINE_ITEM_OP01
Status     :      DB dead lock during update
SM12 doesnt have any locks currently, not sure about status when these update errors occured.
I didnt find any SAPnotes related to this F-module or similar.
Can you please tell whether it is a serious issue and how to handle such errors?
    Regards,
    Roshan

    Hi,
can u please let us know how many time u have seen this error in SM13. Also from how many days.
If its only once u have seen, then no need to worry.
    Function Module : RKE_WRITE_ACT_LINE_ITEM_OP01
Status : DB dead lock during update
From above lines its clear that,  Function Module : RKE_WRITE_ACT_LINE_ITEM_OP01 was locked, so the update has failed to access that module. Since it had faield to update, so is the error in sm13 with reason DB dead lock during update.
Can u please refer to the logs in SM21 and also to the trace files(of related work process) related to the same error(red color errors), Try to analyze from there, If u find any difficulties in doing so. Paste the same here  along with ur system verion/DB/OS/Patch level
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • My iphone 3g got locked after updating

my iphone 3g got locked after updating the software and showing usb cable and itunes symbols

That means your iPhone was hacked to be unlocked for use with any carrier's SIM card, which is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via these discussions.
Installing a firmware update on a hacked iPhone or restoring a hacked iPhone with iTunes relocks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked when new.

  • My iPhone got locked while updating to IOS via my laptop. How can I restart my phone

My iPhone got locked while updating to IOS via my laptop. How can I restart my pihone?

Thank you Roger Wilmut. I am grateful for your response.
I bought the iPhone new and set up by myself. I still remember apple id details. The problem is that while the update was on, I needed to enter my apple id on the phone to complete the update my screen lock has been activated. Now the phone only displays the iTunes logo and the USB cable being inserted. But I can still access my the phone contents through my laptop. I need to force the phone to restart. How can I do that?  mind you I have pressed the home and power buttons together for a couple of minutes. It will only display the apple logo for a few seconds and then return to the iTunes and USB cable display. Maybe the phone is hanging. So please help me.
    Thank you very much

  • Keyboard locks after update to 10.6.8

After updating to 10.6.8 the keyboard started locking up once or twice a day on my MBP (2010 -one month out of warranty).  A reboot fixes it.  The Bluetooth mouse works, but nothing else.
I went to the Genius bar yesterday and they wanted to run diagnostics etc.  I said it was a software issue as it had never happened before.  I told them the blogs were full of similar stories and did they hear of a fix.  They said that with a new release imminent they did not expect anything else till then.  I guess we can hope that 10.7 fixes all the glitches that are being reported in these blogs.

I am having the same problem, but much more frequently. A reboot doesn't seem to help for very long before it starts happening again. I've switched keyboards thinking that there was a sticking key, but that has not resolved my problem.
In addition, my mouse will constantly lock up for a few seconds. I've switched mice, used the trackpad, and used Apple's external trackpad as well. Nothing fixes the problem. It's getting very annoying.
I've also checked Activity Monitor to see if that shows what may be causing these problems. But I've not found anything out of the ordinary.
Any help in resolving this will greatly appreciated.

  • Lock object update in contract account

    Hi All,
If anyone knows any BAPI which updates the lockobject in the outgoing payment of a contract account, please respond.
My requirement is to update the TO date of lock object in the outgoing payment of a contract account.
Is there any other possibility to do the same.
    Awaiting for response.
    Regards,
    Bharathi.J

    Hello,
Sorry, we don't use a BAPI to update locks, but we do use the following function modules:
    FKK_O_LOCK_OPEN
    FKK_O_LOCK_METHOD_SET_LOCKDATA
    FKK_O_LOCK_METHOD_SAVE
    FKK_O_LOCK_CLOSE
You can use BAPI_ISUACCOUNT_CHANGE to issue a new lock.

  • Screen lock after updating to 8.2 (12D508) on iPad 2

    Hi,
I have just updated my iPad 2 with 8.2 (12D508) and the screen is now locked in the portrait position. I have tried some work arounds e.g holding down both the on/off button and the Home button, toggling the screen lock on and off but to no avail. I have not had this problem with previous updates.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

    Hey crutchy,
The article linked below details a number of steps that can help resolve issues with your iPad failing to rotate as expected.

  • Row Locking on Updates

In SQL, there is a specified FOR UPDATE NOWAIT function a part of the SELECT statement for the row. Is there a NOWAIT option for the UPDATE statement?
IE. Oracle documents a SELECT from <table> where <condition> FOR UPDATE NOWAIT to lock a row, but is there a similar UPDATE <table> SET <change> where <condition> NOWAIT?

    Hi pl_sequel,
You could try using a user lock using the DBMS_LOCK package. The locks requested can have runtime specified names which means they can be tied more specifically to the action you are trying to perform rather than just a true/false gateway mechanism.

  • IPhoto Library Locked after update

Hi. I recently purchased a MacBook Air, which I've networked to my iMac. When trying to open my iMac iPhoto Library through iPhoto on my MacBook Air, I received a message saying that I needed to update the current version of the iPhoto Library on my MacBook Air in order to view the photos. So I followed the instructions in the dialogue box and updated the software (which took almost 8 hours). Now, the software on my Air is iPhoto 9.1 and the software on my iMac is 8.1.2. When trying to open iPhoto from my iMac directly, I now receive an error message stating "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disc, or you do not have permissions to make changes to it." I searched through iPhoto Help topics initially and followed the suggestion to open the "Rebuild Photo Library" window by holding down option and control when opening iPhoto, and then selecting "Examine and repair iPhoto Library file permissions". No errors where found, however, a message appeared indicating that i needed to update my iPhoto Library software (as it did initially with my MacBook Air). However, this time it did not prompt me to update the software from the dialogue box, and when trying to update the software, no updates were found.
    Any suggestions?

You opened your Library with iPhoto 9.1.
The Library was upgraded to a v9 format. You were warned +before this happened+ that you would no longer be able to open the Library with an earlier version. You went ahead anyway.
Now, you have a v9 Library and are trying to open it with a v8 iPhoto on the iMac. As warned, it can't open it.
To upgrade from v8 to v9 requires a purchase of an iLife 11 disk.

  • Record does not get locked on update in a transaction

    Hi ...
Lets say I have a session bean method with "Required" Transaction as follows:
    public void method1()
    entityBean1.setFieldA("something"); //record1
    entityBean1.setFieldB("something"); //record1
    entityBean2.setFieldZ("something");
Now, suppose one client thread "A" is executing this method and updating "record1"
and the Tx is still happening...
Lets suppose another client thread "B" simultaneously calls the same method to update
    the same record "record1"...
what will happen now...since A is already in a Tx updating record1, what happens
    to B...
shouldn't there be a lock on the record which A is updating till the Tx gets commited
, and only then B should be able to update that record...?
    Is my understanding correct ??
I did a test with weblogic and this does not seem to be happening..
whatz missing guys ...or am i barking up the wrong tree ?

  • IPhone Locking when updating

i was given a first generation iPhone by my aunt in America. i live in New Zealand and my aunt said that she was told that i could use my phone in New Zealand with an NZ sim card. it worked for the first few hours but when i tried to update it it locked its self, and i could only make emergency calls... i managed to take it into a cell phone store and they fixed the problem, but did not tell me that i could not update it, so the next week i tried again... with the same result. again, i got it fixed...
i just want to see if there was any way to get my phone updated without it locking... so if any one has any insight, please tell me... im still using version 1.1.4!!! it is so annoying!!!

    i'm really confused..
i buy my iphone in Indonesia. and the seller says that it was the factory unlock so it's safe for me to use the iphone with different kind of sim card. and it's works.. i can use it with my old sim card. but apparently the problems come when i want to update my iphone. and the first time i updated my iphone suddenly my iphone unlocked and i cannot do anything except emergency calls. after i bring it to the seller, he said that the problem is with the update thing because he said that the update isn't perfect enough to be downloaded. so after i found out that there is newest update so i try again but the same problem come to me. now my iphone locked again. i really confused while the seller said that it's factory unlocked and it's safe to change with any sim card but from other post i read that it's because the iphone hasn't unlocked yet.
    help me to find out..
it's killing me that i'm still using the old version.and even i cannot put my facebook on my iphone. it' sad really sad.
