Log Transport Stalled
Got a strange one.
We switched over from Site A to Site B yesterday and have experienced some network drop out.
I left the DB up to date yesterday at about 3pm and shipping with no problem.
Had some more network drop out and when I checked it at 2pm today it had missed a number of files.
While I was monitoring FAL kicked in and started transmitting files. Great and it applied 2 file fine. As it was transmitting the 3rd we must have had another net work drop out as it didn;t complete and apply.
Now the database thinks this logfile 270 is in transit. It is receiving other files after wards no problem but FAL will not kick in.
I have restarted the MRP but still nothing.
I have stopped it and tried to recover automatic standby database but this is fails with
ORA-16145: archival for thread# 1 sequence# 544270 in progress
I can not force oracle to take the file that is there or kick fal off again.
We are using DataGuard on 11.2.0.2. Snippet of end of Archive log below

And so it continues catching up Archive logs it knows it has not shipped.
select * from v$archive_gap; is showing the gap but as you can see Oracle is stuck thinking it is in progress.
Anyone got any suggestions?
I have a call with Oracle raised but thought I would also throw it out there to the community.
Scratch that.
By the time I had finished typing the message the network seems to have kicked in and all of a sudden it started transmitting the file I needed and seems to have kicked in again.
It seems to just be very very lagged.
Think I will need to get onto the network guys and investigate tomorrow to get some consitency in the network as it can keep up as long as the network does not drop.

Log transport failing to standby host , target using ASM.
Hi,
Please help me in the following scenario. I have two nodes ASM1 & ASM2 with RHEL4 U5 OS. On node ASM1 there is database ORCL using ASM diskgroups DATA & RECOVER and archive location is on '+RECOVER/orcl/'. On ASM2 node, I have to configure STDBYORCL (standby) database without ASM (i.e. on FS). I have taken the copy of database ORCL via RMAN, using following command:
run{
copy datafile 1 to '/opt/oracle/admin/df1.dbf';
copy datafile 2 to '/opt/oracle/admin/df2.dbf';
copy datafile 3 to '/opt/oracle/admin/df3.dbf';
copy datafile 4 to '/opt/oracle/admin/df4.dbf';
copy current controlfile for standby to '/opt/oracle/admin/stdbyorcl_control01.ctl'
Then I have ftp'd all to ASM2 and put them on FS /u01/oradata. Have made all necessary changes in primary and standby database pfile and then mount the standby database and put it in managed recovery mode. Unfortunately, log transport service is not working and archives are not getting shipped to standby host.
Here are all configuration details.

I am wondering you need this in your standby parameter file?..

How to set at the server level to log transport request in SAP ME
Hi:
when I do configuration in SAP ME, can I set at the system level to log for transport request ?
so I can use transport request for other client or server.Hi!
There is no "transport request" in SAP ME, however, there is Configuration Data Transfer Export/Import activity which can export the data to ZIP file at the source site and then import that file at the destination site.
CDT activity can utilize CTS+ as a transport channel but I would suggest ZIP file instead because the file can be edited manually in case of any issue or if you want to remove some data.
For details, please consult this How-To Guide.
Regards,
Sergiy -
HI,,
Request was transported a week back but still the request is showing import running(truck symbol). please suggest how to solve this issue.Hello Venkateshwarlu,
Check import monitor for the queue of the target system.Check if something is in errors and struck.If thats the case check if you have any unreleased Transports with some system objects and if so release them and then delete the CTS in import monitor.Go to the STMS queue and reimport all the CTS which were in with truck symbol.
Also if there is any problem with the background job check through SM37 if there are any failed jobs related to transports and if such check the logs of those jobs specialy RDDIMPDP.
**Reward points accordingly -
Log Transport Application stopped working
I've been getting this every time I close Premiere in Adobe CS4. I thought it was a Vista issue but their Tech Support stated that it's an Adobe problem. Any idea what this means and if there's a way to fix it?
Thanks.I did as suggested and checked 'No' to the Adobe snooping option in Premiere but the problem came back.
Later I found that acrobat reader had a different screen and this option was still set to yes.
How many different places is this in and how do you make sure you get them all?
Only Adobe could include a problem logger that causes problems. -
Change Request Logging Mechanism (The Transports)
Our functional guys log transport in excel sheet and there team lead approve them. Basis guys import in the respective system. With the time excel sheet became dirty, messy couldn't able to control. Anyone know any other tools which is web enable with email triggering system. With Authorization etc. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
MikeHi,
Good evening and greetings,
If you have Lotus Notes then it a database can be created and triggered through workflow mechanism.
Please reward points if found useful
Thanking you

ORA-16191: Primary log shipping client not logged on standby.
Hi,
Please help me in the following scenario. I have two nodes ASM1 & ASM2 with RHEL4 U5 OS. On node ASM1 there is database ORCL using ASM diskgroups DATA & RECOVER and archive location is on '+RECOVER/orcl/'. On ASM2 node, I have to configure STDBYORCL (standby) database using ASM. I have taken the copy of database ORCL via RMAN, as per maximum availability architecture.
Then I have ftp'd all to ASM2 and put them on FS /u01/oradata. Have made all necessary changes in primary and standby database pfile and then perform the duplicate database for standby using RMAN in order to put the db files in desired diskgroups. I have mounted the standby database but unfortunately, log transport service is not working and archives are not getting shipped to standby host.
Here are all configuration details.
Primary database ORCL pfile:

I've updated the IDC transport server to 3 different filename_formats, and tried the corresponding files, with correct names to match the filename_format.
After updating the IDC I validated the trading partner (host).
I then updated the agreement using the updated IDC, and validated the agreement.
I then validated the host again.
Then I created a new deployment.
And still received the error.
I then deleted the old IDC and created a new IDC and new agreement and new deployment, trying 3 different "Internal delivery channel filename format" values (updating and validating the agreement and host trading partner each time).
And still received the error.
No matter what I set EITHER the IDC "filename format" OR "Internal delivery channel filename format", the b2b.log always reports :
filename_format = %TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%TIMESTAMP%.txt
e.g.
2010.05.16 at 18:05:02:758: Thread-15: B2B - (DEBUG)
Protocol = SFTP
Version = 2.0
Transport Header
filename:SA_DRUGS_10.txt
filesize:1
file_ext:.txt
filename_format:%TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%TIMESTAMP%.txt
fullpath:/mnt/maximage_prd/sa_transfer/SA_DRUGS_10.txt
timestamp:Thu Jan 15 09:54:18 PST 1970
When I try a file with a revision number, e.g. SA_DRUGS_10.txt the log shows :
2010.05.16 at 18:05:03:602: Thread-14: B2B - (DEBUG) oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.exchange.generic.GenericExchangePlugin:decodeIncomingMessage FILE_FORMAT = TO_PARTY - SA

2010.05.16 at 18:05:03:603: Thread-14: B2B - (DEBUG) oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.exchange.generic.GenericExchangePlugin:decodeIncomingMessage FILE_FORMAT = TIMESTAMP - 10
2010.05.16 at 18:05:03:895: Thread-14: B2B - (ERROR) Error -: AIP-51505: General Validation Error
which makes sense as "10" is not a timestamp.
If I exclude the revision, using SA_DRUGS.txt the log shows :
2010.05.16 at 18:27:03:543: Thread-14: B2B - (DEBUG) oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.exchange.generic.GenericExchangePlugin:decodeIncomingMessage Transport Protocol = {SFTP}

2010.05.16 at 18:27:03:545: Thread-14: B2B - (ERROR) Error -: AIP-51505: General Validation Error
So, the timestamp gets ignored (as there is no "_" delimiter), but it still fails, probably because there is no timestamp in the filename.
So, why won't the UI correctly set the IDC filename_format or Internal filename_format ? -
Unable to upload Transport Package in portal
Hi
Previously i have transported .epa file(Trnasport Package) from dev to acc, it worked fine there.now when iam trying to upload the same in qas portal its getting error like "could not upload file" .can any one assist me with the solutionSekhar,
Please check the transport_logger trace (logs/transport.log) to troubleshoot transport problems.
Set the loglevels to analyze the transport problems debug in the pcdstartup.properties file for the categories pcd.tracelevel.basictransport and pcd.tracelevel.GI.Transport
Please check Note 679516: Central Note for the Transport Package Editor
Please check Note 743857: Upload issues in cluster scenarios
Please examine this file for pure UI problems like the editor does not load or an object cannot be added to a transport package. pcd_admin_tools_logger (logs/pcdadmintools.log)
Hope it helps.

Dataguard - Primary not applying logs to Standby
Having an issue applying logs to the standby, seemingly it's not setup correctly. I am sure I'm missing something simple here, but would love any input or help. Thanks in advance.
