Log4j - logging not working correctly in OC4J

I am using log4j to log all data from my system, ie. interface data, errors, info, performance data. Interface data going to one file, errors and info to another file, and performance data to another file. I am using the RollingFileAppender to log data into files. I have a wrapper class that is used to call the log4j methods. When this is tested in Jdev- everything works ok. When deployed to the server, my interface data does not get logged but everything else does. The only time that the interface data logs is when that data goes to the console as well as the file. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Check all the places where log4j.jar is available. If possible cross check against your earlier environment too. Remove in places where it is not necesary.

  • Logging Not Working in Java Code

    Hi everyone,
    I'm looking into the Java code for the Portal app, and I'm trying to do some debugging as to what's going on.  I see a lot of the Adobe classes use the log4j Logger to output general logging information as well as errors, but there never seems to be any output in the log files.  The files I'm checking for activity are:
    Adobe LiveCycle ES2\jboss\server\lc_turnkey\log\server.log
    Adobe LiveCycle ES2\jboss\bin\correspondencemanagement.log
    When I build and deploy the application onto the LC server, just before my application starts I get the following line in the server.log:
    2011-04-29 14:30:49,055 INFO  [STDOUT] **** No servlet context set in ServletLogTarget - logging disabled.
    followed by a message saying that my application has started.  The line above happens everytime I re-deploy the application (without actually running the app), right before it starts, so I'm assuming that it is directly related to my application.
    The only 'com.adobe' related logging lines that happen in the correspondencemanagement.log file are written when I physically run the app, and I get the following line:
    2011-04-29 14:31:34,298 69729 INFO  [com.adobe.dct.service.impl.DataDictionaryRegistryServiceImpl] Fetching Complete Data Dictionary object graph.
    Looking into the code for the com.adobe.dct.service.impl.DataDictionaryRegistryServiceImpl class, I see it uses a completely different logging system (ie not log4j).
    *sigh*
    I've changed the services-config.xml file and tried setting the logging target to both flex.messaging.log.ServletLogTarget and flex.messaging.log.ConsoleTarget, but neither seem to make a difference.
    I must be missing some kind of configuration to get the logging to work correctly, but Google has been little help as well.
    Hopefully someone has crossed this issue before, and has a solution?  Any help / pointers / advice etc welcome and appreciated!!!

    Thanks for the reply Saket.
    It turns out that the logging was working correctly all along.  The messages I could not find were all related to bootstrap code.  I was assuming that the bootstrapper would run each time the application was deployed, or at the very least each time the server was started.  It turns out that you manually need to run the bootstrapper.  So I was looking for log lines that would never appear by themselves.  Once I manually ran the bootstrap process, the log lines ran as expected.

  • Substitution rule is not working correctly

    Hi PS Gurus,
    We have a problem in one of the newly created projects that the substitution rule is not working correctly; the data is not copied to the WBS element Cust. Enhancement tab.
    Project 1 is working fine and the data is copied & Project 2 and Project 3 are not getting all the data copied to the WBS element,
    In that project profile (substitution rule is given), substitution rule is also maintained 
    So please help why in one project substitution rule in working & other isnu2019t.

    Hello Menaka,
    Select the WBS element in the project builder.
    Cleck on Edit --> Validation Substitution --> Substitution
    You will get the list of Substituitions, Double click on the required Substition rule.This action will generate a log, whether substitution has been succesfully caried out or with some error.
    Kindly provide us that error log to guide you further.

  • System Update not working correctly

    Hi forum,
    System Update (Version 4.00.0024) is not working correctly on my T500 with Windows 7.
    1: Not detecting old versions
    SU is not detecting, that there is an old version of Access Connection (5.42) installed although there is a new version 5.50 avaliable. I had to do a manual update.
    2: Not installing a suggested update
    Each time I run SU, I get a suggested update for "Fix for Issue of HDD with HDP Detection for Windows Vista/7". After downloading there comes a meaningless message "package was not installed" (Paket wurde nicht installiert). No hint for any error.
    3: Some drivers (e.g. for the ultranav) have not been downloaded at all - I had to test the functions of some hardware components and download the appropriate drivers manually in case of malfuncion.
    Probably there is a solution known within the forum community, at least this should be a message to lenovo (I received no response from the help desk when reporting this finding).

  • Sleep not working correctly

    Since updating my Late 2010 iMac to Moutain Lion the sleep function does not work correctly. They system keep waking up for no reason. The monitor comes comes day or night. I cannot figure out a fix or work around. Any ideas?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same.     My Login filter is behaving very strangely. Here is the relevant code from the filter.

                return;The problem is we are trying to allow an external application to log into mine. The external application generates a link with an /externalLogin.do as the href. It steps into the above code and the indexOf() correctly finds it and the chain.doFilter is executed. But it never makes it to the externalLoginAction.java.
    If I copy the link and put it on my Login.jsp page and click it, it makes it to the chain.doFilter the same but then continues on to the externalLoginAction.java.
    So it look like the chain.doFilter is not working correctly if it is not comming from the same context?
    Anyone have any ideas?

    The first url was passing userName and password in the URL the second somehow got changed to userId... so struts was kicking it back.. just changed my struts config to not validate the external login form.

  • Safari hierarchical menus not working correctly

    Hello all,
    I'm having a problem with Safari's hierarchical menus not working correctly. They pop out in odd positions, and--worst of all--the big ones (for folders that contain lots of bookmarks) pop out right on top of the main bookmarks menu, making it all but impossible to navigate that main menu. I've tried all the usual tricks: log out/restart the system, restart Safari, reset Safari, boot in safe boot mode, repair permissions, yank Safari's bookmarks prefs file, even reinstall Safari, and nothing worked. I've also noticed the same behavior in Camino. My system hierarchical menus work fine, though, so I'm thinking I have a corrupt prefs file somewhere. I'm using Safari 4.04 with no extra plugins beyond what come with it on 10.5.8. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix this?

    AFAIK, the submenu will pop on either side, depending on available space and if there are further subfolders, allowing them to continue in the same direction.
    Since the new account doesn't exhibit the issue, there are two ways to attack the problem. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything not on that list into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
    The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

  • RV042 Load Balancing not working correctly?

    We have an RV042 on firmware version 1.3.13.02 and 2 ISPs:
    WAN1 = Telepacific T1
    1.5Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up
    WAN2 = AT&T U-Verse
    12Mbps down and 5Mbps up
    I have it set to Load Balance, Primary WAN = WAN2
    Network Service Detection enabled, only pinging the Remote Host of 4.2.2.2 and set to Generate Log
    Bandwidth is set to:
    WAN1 = 1000Kbps upstream & downstream
    WAN2 = 5040Kbps upstream & 12000Kbps downstream
    It seems to pick WAN1 a lot of the time.  Do I have something setup wrong?

    Ok, so what do you recommend? To setup binding for ports important to direct over say… WAN1 (my fast access) shall I also keep the bandwidth management set up as is, example:
    For me it’s confusing because this config appears to be clear to me that has to control traffic the way I want .

  • Magic Mouse not working correctly??

    I just installed the new Mountain Lion OS and now my Magic Mouse does not work correctly. First after I log in, I have to turn the mouse off and on then then it will move. When I goto the options menu for the mouse none of the addtional features are there for the mouse including the scrolling. Any suggestions?

    Hi Hunters Dad.  I also had this problem and it turned out to be the bluetooth connection.  After I upgraded, the bluetooth connection dropped off system preferences. 
    To locate your bluetooth connections click on the Apple logo in top left hand corner of screen, select System Preferences and look under Internet & Wireless.  You should see Bluetooth there.  If you don't, then power cycle your computer  (see below).  Afterwards go back to the System Preferences and Bluetooth should be there.
    To Power Cycle my computer Apple support had me  shut down my computer, take out the power cable and all other connections for one minute then plug back in and restart as follows:
    press your computer ON button and then hold down the   p r command option  keys  at the same time until the 2nd chime.  I also have been having long boot ups since upgrading and the chimes didn't come on.  Applecare instructed me to stop holding the keys and the computer eventually booted up.  Lo and behold the bluetooth connections were visible and my magic mouse and trackpad now work fine.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Sorting not working correctly for date field in alv report

    Hi All,
    My report displays many rows also containing date type fields of bldat,budat .
    When I sort the report selecting field of type bldat budat the sorting is not correct for the year.
    Ex:
    Invoice doc dat
    01-25-2011
    01-21-2011
    02-02-2011
    10-25-2010
    11-20-2010
    If I use ascending then it is sorted as :
    Invoice doc dat
    01-21-2011
    01-25-2011
    02-02-2011
    10-20-2010
    10-25-2010
    Why the sorting is not working correct for year.(2010 records should have been first).
    The field wa_tab-bldat is of type char10.
    It is populated as wa_tab-bldat = bsak-bldat.
    Kindly suggest what can be done.

    maybe i am wrong but i think the if statement within a view is not working correctly. See code down below.
    I would like to use the Hallo World depending on the page attribute isFrame with or without all the neccessary html tags. Therefore i have embedded the htmlb tags in an if statement. But for any reason if isframe is initial it isn't working. It would be great if anybody could help me.

    The short answer: your example is <b>NOT</b> going to work. The long answer will probably 5 pages to describe. So first let me rewrite the example so that it could work, and then give a short version of the long answer. Do not be disappointed if it is not totally clear. It is rather complicated. (See the nice form of IF statements that are possible since 620.)

    You can see that your ENDIF statements are closing IF blocks generated by the BSP compiler. Such a nesting will not work. This is a very short form of the problem, there are a number of variations, and different types of the same problem.
    The only way to solve this problem, is probably to put the body into a page fragment and include it like I did above with the duplicate HelloWorld strings. But this duplicates source code. Better is to put body onto a view, that can be processed as required.

  • ** Filtering is not working correctly in ALV (REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY)

    Hi Friends,
    We have one Z report that output is displayed in ALV. We are using the standard FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY. 
    We have requirement to remove leading zeros for the field like Material Number (MATNR), Equipment Number (EQUNR) etc. We did the changes by applying the field catalog properties as below.
    lw_fieldcat-lzero = space.
    lw_fieldcat-no_zero = 'X'.
    After this, the MATNR and EQUNR is displayed correctly in the ALV. (Leading zeros are suppressed). But, when we do filter for these fields, in the filter window it displays all the values with leading zeros.
    1. We don't understand why it is showing in the Filter widow with all leading zeros. All it shows all the records instead of unique items.
    Later on, we removed the above fieldcat coding. Then, we have called the CONVERSION_EXIT routines (in the domain) for the fields to remove leading zeros.
    Now, the MATNR and EQUNR is displayed correctly (without leading zeros) in ALV. When we do filter, it is also doing filtering correctly. But, when we do filter which have EQUNR having long values (after zero suppression), it is not working correctly. i.e no items are displayed in the ALV.
    Not only for this items. If we filter character columns which have long text, it is not filtering correctly.
    2. It is not able to understand why the filtering is not working for long items. But in the standard report, the filtering is working correctly.
    We are using SAP ECC 6.0.

    I agreed on your point. When we define the Internal table the type for element EQUNR & QUMNR , we are referring the SAP data element for EQUNR, QMNUM field.
    Our doubt is even though we refer the standard data element, in the ALV display, it shows with leading zeros and also it creates problems in the filtering and in the filter window all values instead of unique nos.

    I wrote a logic to calculate the ratio of key figure but it is not working correctly
    For example I have a requirement to split 1 Product into Several new Products and also the Net Amount will be splitted to these several new products as well. The total Amount of the new product will be equivalent to the Net Amount.
    So far my Logic is splitting the product to several new products but the amount is incorrect as the calculation is over looping.
    Sample
    A PRODUCT has Net Amount 1000. And this product needs to be splitted into 3 new products. Each of this new product is assigned a ratio of 0.3, 0.2 and 0.7 respectively. total sum of the ratio is 1.
    PRODUCT1 0.3 = 1000 * 0.3 = 300
    PRODUCT2 0.2 = 1000 * 0.2 = 200
    PRODUCT3 0.7 = 1000 * 0.7 = 700
    The total amount of this new products is 1000.
    Now my logic is working this way.
    PRODUCT1 0.3 = 1000 * 0.3 = 300
    PRODUCT2 0.2 = 1000 * 0.2 * 0.3 = 60
    PRODUCT3 0.7 = 1000 * 0.2 * 0.3 * 0.7 = 42

    I am not really good at debugging Abap code since I am a newbie. however  I have tried to add CLEAR T_DATA before the first loop.
    REFRESH T_DATA.
    LOOP AT DATA_PACKAGE.
    ZIDX = SY-TABIX.
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING DATA_PACKAGE TO T_DATA.
    and before the second loop and select statement and at the end of the loop.
    REFRESH T_NEWDSO.
    SELECT * FROM NEWDSO INTO table T_NEWDSO WHERE PROD =
    DATA_PACKAGE-PROD.
    SORT T_NEWDSO BY PROD.
    READ TABLE T_NEWDSO WITH KEY PROD = T_DATA-PROD.

    but then not all data are being fetched.

  • Email pushing not working correctly for office email - 3 seperate devices/carriers

    We switched email hosts several months ago and since our email pushing has not worked correctly. Our host/IT guy has been very unwilling to help me through this (I get the pleasure of being the in-house IT source)
    I personally am on AT&T have no problems with the other 3 emails I have set up on my blackberry. However I receive my work account one time a day at roughly 6:15. Another user is on Alltel and he receives spotty emails throughout the day, but his gmail account comes through instantly. The third user is on nextel and he receives his 2-3 times per day.
    I began to think this was an email host issue since the three of us are all on different carriers, until I found out a fourth user, also on nextel, receives his emails fine.
    Users 1-3 are on Outlook 07 on various versions of the Curve. We have all our messages to stay on the server.
    User 4 is on the older nextel blackberry push to talk, and is not on outlook. 
    We do not have an exchange server. Our emails were all set up through our devices.
    Any suggestions? The answers I have received through our carriers is to make sure that our messages are set to be left on the server. Everyone else at the office has given up - but for me this is the quest for the Holy Grail.......I'm determined find the answer!

    Potential solution for windows for a side-by-side install. This works for me.
    To setup a firefox install side by side so that links from external programs (like email) can open (so you don't get a "Firefox is already running but is not responding" message) do the following.
    The solution entails the use of the -no-remote switch. Don't use it for the default browser. Use it for the non default browser.
    I'll use firefox 3.6 and firefox 4.0 as examples but this should work for future versions.
    + Install firefox 3.6 and Firefox 4.0 in different directories. Eg.
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4\firefox.exe
    + Open profile manager. Start > Run : firefox.exe -ProfileManager
    + In profile manager create Two Profiles.
    firefox3.6
    firefox4
    + In profile manager select firefox 4 as your default (assuming you want to default to the latest) and tick "Don't ask at startup"
    + Create two windows shortcuts.
    * General: Mozilla Firefox 4 (default). Shortcut > Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4\firefox.exe". Shortcut > Start In: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4"
    * General: Mozilla Firefox 3.6. Shortcut > Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p firefox3.6 -no-remote. Shortcut > Start In: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox"
    That's it. Links from external programs should now open in your default browser.
