Logic 7 vs osx 10.5
Hi
I've upgrated an old PowerBook G4 from osx 10.3 to 10.5. Now my old Logic 7 can't initialize the CoreAudio and won't start up. Any good ideas why?
Try one more time... my fault.
(if you have it) It's in: Root/Library/Application Support
And it's named Propellerhead Software
Move the folder to the desktop
Sorry about that.
p.s. several different applications install rewire, I believe Ableton is one.

How do i install logic 8 on osx 10.8.5
how do i install logic 8 on osx 10.8.5
Here's the basic method thanks to CCT...
Make Disk Images of all the installer disks using Disk Utility
Mount all the images
Download Pacifist, and run it
In the main Logic Studio installer, there is an Alias called "Install Logic Studio". Control Click and select "Show Original".
There is a LogicStudio.mpkg multipackage, and a folder of Packages (Note the.mpkg will crash Pacifist)
Drag each individual package from this folder to Pacifist, select the .pkg and click "Install" -
Screen freezes with LOGIC pro 7 & OSX 3.0.any ideas?
Hi
I have a G5 with dual processors and 1.5 ram/150gb HD. I am running Logic pro 7 on the original OSX 3.0 with a Motu 828mk2 firewire interface.
The screen freezes a lot (sometimes with audio still running) and the only way is to turn it off and reboot.
I am not working with lots of audio or plug ins (maybe one or two tracks at most).
I wondered whether its the OS? maybe i need Tiger?
I would be grateful of any helpAs JustinC pointed out, it would be better you were running a more 'mature' OS (also CoreAudio is part of Quicktime so if you have updated QT and not the OS you could, possibly, be running an incompatible version of CoreAudio, i'm not too sure about that.)
But considering the symptoms you mentioned, and the fact you are running very few audio tracks, I'm assuming you run a lot of MIDI.
The symptoms you describe sound a lot like a MIDI feedback loop.
You don't have any sort of inter-app MIDI routing enabled, do you ?
If you do, you need to isolate the inter-app inputs from the sequencer input, or be very careful not to select tracks which are assigned to an inter-app port (or 'all' ports)
Oh, and update the OS anyway, there is no good reason to stick with 10.3.0 -
Logic bug with osx 10.6.7
ok after the update of osx, logic(9.1.3) doesn't create the audio waves track preview when i record some audio stuff
here is a pic
http://img24.imageshack.us/i/schermata20110409a15340.png/
as you can see there is no wave preview , that track is a guitar track recording, the sound is ok but NO PREVIEW
some solution?Have you tried *Options>Audio>Refresh Overview(s)* ?

Logic X on OSX integrated with IOS
Hi,
I have found a product that allows you to integrate LogicX on OSX with IOS such that you can run synth/music apps that are on your iPhone or iPad like they are plugins within Logic. It routes both midi and audio. The latter with something they are calling Audio PassThru Technology:
http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI4plus
However, this is quite expensive and it strikes me that this capability should be built into Logic X / OSX / IOS using a USB to lightning cable.
Can anybody tell me if this capability already exists or if it is likely to become available in the near future please?
Or, will I have to spend the money on third party hardware to do the job? (you'd have thought would be quite an obvious requirement these days)
Thanks
MattIt requires special hardware to achieve this plus some very clever programming...... Its not just a USB to Lightning Cord....
So to get that capability currently, you have to buy a 2+ or 4+ from iConnectivity,.,. (The 2+ is half the price of the 4+ and only allows for one iOS device to be connected.....where as the 4+ allows for 2 iOS devices to be connected at the same time.)
I have two of the 2+'s and they are great, for both the Audio Pass Thru feature and as additional Midi I/Os to work along side my Motu Ultralite. So much so I've ordered a 4+ to take on the road with me later this year...... -
^hi!
logic 5 doesn't work on osx!
is this still true or is there any update for that since i heard that the last time?Hi
Well its long ago, but I checked my CDs and on my old Logic5 CD there is an installer for OS9 and OS X. Don´t if it still runs on 10.4, but on the first OS X versions it will run, may till OS 10.2, maybe also on 10.4 But there is an Logic 5 OS X installer.

Logic Express vs OSX 10.4.9
Anybody else having problems with Logic Express since the 10.4.9 update? My M-Audio FireWire Solo interface is distorting my guitar tracks and the trouble seems to have started around the time of the update. M-Audio says there's not ETA on a 10.4.9 driver update. It works fine with GarageBand (which would indicate that the problem is with Logic) but I didn't buy Logic Express so that I would have to work in GarageBand. Until Apple or M-Audio gets on the stick and updates their software I'm screwed. I can reset the problem very briefly by selecting external clock in the driver, which doesn't have anything to do with the trouble, but resets the noise for a take, sometimes not a whole take. The only other solution I can see is back dating my OS to 10.4.8 which would require zeroing out my drive, something I'm not real anxious to do. If updates are coming soon I'll wait. Anybody else feeling my pain or even better, know when help is coming?
iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)Santo y Blue Demon VS Dracula y el Hombre Lobo!!!!
Now to your post:
Anybody else having problems with Logic Express since
the 10.4.9 update?
Yes...oops too late, you should read up on updates BEFORE you update. And turn off "Auto-Update" on your machine from now on.Or suffer,it's really your choice.
My M-Audio FireWire Solo interface
is distorting my guitar tracks and the trouble seems
to have started around the time of the update.
Yeah,I am sorry to hear that.Go buy another brand of audio interface.
M-Audio=migraine.
M-Audio says there's not ETA on a 10.4.9 driver
update.
Of course not. They are too busy blaming Digidesign.
It works fine with GarageBand (which would
indicate that the problem is with Logic) but I didn't
buy Logic Express so that I would have to work in
GarageBand.
Nope...it's definitely the 10.4.9 update,plus the interface=CACA.
Until Apple or M-Audio gets on the stick
and updates their software I'm screwed.
Glad it's you and not me,bro...
I can reset
the problem very briefly by selecting external clock
in the driver, which doesn't have anything to do with
the trouble, but resets the noise for a take,
sometimes not a whole take.
Let's see..I had three of these systems, adn replaced them with Digi gear. Now it works every day.Ergo, replace the interface.
The only other solution I
can see is back dating my OS to 10.4.8 which would
require zeroing out my drive, something I'm not real
anxious to do.
Save yourself the trouble of doing that.M-Audio won't pay you your down-time.
If updates are coming soon I'll wait.
Again, rely on crappy company (M-Audio) and you see the answer "M-Audio says there's not ETA on a 10.4.9 driver update. "
You said it...not me...you wanna wait???
Anybody else feeling my pain or even better, know
when help is coming?
I feel your pain,I went through this last year. Here's the only advice I can give you:
RUN TO GUITAR CENTER AND GET ANOTHER BRAND OF AUDIO INTERFACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Audio/midi interface compatibility with Logic Express Mac osx 10.6.5
hi all, I'm looking for a compatible audio/midi interface to use with the latest mac os. I recently purchased a Ediroll UA25 but was unable to get it working . I installed the latest drivers from the Roland site but when plugged in it just wasn't being recognised. I sent it back and got a full refund but now I am insure if the Ediroll was faulty or if it wasn't compatible with os 10.6.5. I am now in the process of looking to purchase another interface but am looking for help from you guys.
Thanks in advance,
kievHi,
just out of curiousity: did you use the UA-25 or the UA-25EX? I know the 25EX has a driver switch on it's back where you can enable a standard driver which should be compatible to OS X without an additional driver.
However, i didn't find another interface including a compressor except for the Yamaha Audiogram 6, if you need this feature.
If you don't need it, buy a MOTU, preferably with firewire, or a Presonus. If you want quality, maybe an Apogee Duet. I myself - due to shortage of funds - still use either my Tascam Fireone or my Alesis I/O 2. The Alesis sounds nice for it's price, but i won't buy any of these lower end interfaces anymore. You get what you pay for. I also used the Edirol UA-25EX for a time, but this was before snow leopard, so i can't really say "Yes or No", but it was definitely a very good interface compared to it's price. I won't recommend M-Audio, however, but others like it.

Altiverb clicking in logic 7.2
I have a problem with altiverb 5.1.3 cofirmed by the following test...
I played an exs instrument with no fx plug ins... it played perfectly
I added Logics space designer plug in... it played perfectly..i took the space designer out
I added altiverb the signal changes .. it is like 2 clocks are fighting against each other... little clicking noises also the tempo slows slightly..
then the error message comes up "error while trying to sync midi and audio sample rate 41442 recognised"
it could be a coincidence but this happened the same day that I downloaded altiverb 5.3.1
I use logic 7.2 osx 10.4.5
Any help?To avoid clicking when playing back EXS 24 insturments and Altiverb (5.1.3), I increased the I/O buffer size in Logic 7.2 to 1024K. With earlier versions of Logic I had set it at 512K and it worked without incident. After the increase in I/O buffer size, everything worked perfectly once again - - no digital artifacts of any kind. Only remaining problem is that Logic 7.2 crashes fairly frequently, for no obvious reason. This is a brand new phenomenon that did not occur with previous incarnations of Logic 7.

Logic crashes randomly and when saving
Hi,
I hope someone can help, I'm running logic 9 on OSX 10.9.1 2.66 GHz Duo Core with 4 gig of ram.
I've had random crashes occasionally in the past but nothing like this, the situation has got worse over the past week with many random crashes and it also occasionally crashes when I save or bounce. I'm considering a format / re install but would like to avoid that if possible.
There's been no software updates etc recently so am at a loss as to why this should suddenly start happening, bad timing as well as I'm just about to mix a finished track
I've tried deleting my preferences which didnt work and also tried deleting prokit and using Pro kit 7 but get an error message saying you have a newer version installed.
I'll paste the crash log below and really would appreciate any help on a fix!!
Many thanks,
Soul

Logic can't find a plugin I've installed.
Where does Logic normally look for plugins? I am trying to load a plugin from Redwirez called mixIR2 and it will not find it. It has been installed into the /Audio/Library/Plugins folder by default. Its called mixIR2.vst.
BTW, both Logic Pro and OSX are the latest versions. Logic Pro is running in 64-bit.
Thanks.
John+1 Pancenter....
mixIR2 is also available however as both a 32bit and 64bit AU plugin so make sure you have selected and installed that version of the plugin... Then it will appear in Logic after Logic has been restarted and the plugin has been validated...
To access it you click and hold on the Insert button for that track...and look under Audio Units and you will find it listed there, ready to go. -
Logic Pro 9 asking for original serial number
Hi
Having Logic authorization problems.
I just bought a new macbook pro. I cloned the harddrive my old macbook (running Logic 9 in OSX Lion) and then cloned to the new macbook pro.
Whn I try to open Logic Pro 9 - it asks for a serial number. When I enter the serial number from my old laptop
Logic asks for the "previous serial number or my XS key". I never had a XS key - Logic 8 was my first version.
I guess I'll to dig up my old Logic 8 installation guide (who knows where it is these days?)
Why won't the serial number form my macbook work on my new macbook pro?
Any help is much appreciated
thanksIt is Recommended to do a Complete ReInstall from Original Discs when using Pro Apps and not to Migrate them...
If your Logic 9 was an Upgrade from Logic 8 you will need the Serial Numbers for Both 8 & 9...
I would suggest you delete the current version of Logic 9 on your MBP and Reinstall from the Logic 9 Discs...
Then Run Software Update or go Here...
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1014
to download the Latest Update of Logic for Lion.
I would also recommend doing a Permissions Repair and a Restart after deleting the Migrated Logic 9 and after the Reinstall from Discs...
It may seem like a lot of work... But the Results will be well worth it...
Cheers, -
Logic 9.1.7 + Lion 10.7.4 = constant sound card disconnect
Hey everybody, ever since I upgraded to Lion I've been having this problem. I'll be working in a project and then all of a sudden, my sound drops out completely. It's strange because my Presonus Firebox still shows the blue light which means it's connected, but the sound is cut off to my whole computer completely. I mean, iTunes, Internet, everything, no sound. The only way for me to fix this is to pull the firewire out and plug it back in. Then there is a brief moment where everthing resets and I have my sound back for a short while until it happens all over again. This baffles me because it never happened before Lion.
Another problem that started happening shortly before Lion, was the white flashing screen of death. I'll be working on a project, and then the screen freezes for no reason. any button I press causes the screen to flash white like a camera flash. The only thing I can do is play (the screen is still frozen though). I'm running an older 2009 macbook with only 2 GB of ram so I know I'm pushing it, but it's been running perfectly up until this update.
Does anyone else have these problems? I'm thinking I might just have to wait for the next Logic and/or OSX update.
Thanks!Good you found a work-around, the other method would be to start logic without core audio running... dbl click on the Logic icon in the applications folder and immediately hold down the Control key. Answer No to "Launch the Core Audio Driver?"
Have to say though.. Logic is becoming more and more fragile, it should not crash simply because the EXS can't find a file. -
Is is possible to truly disable a midi input device in Logic 9?
If I remove all midi input devices from the Environment Window including the Physical Input object, midi tracks will no longer respond to external midi controller information (as it should be). However, if I open the Controller Assignment window and click the Learn button, Logic still reads data from all midi devices currently recognized by OSX. Aside from completely removing midi devices at the operating system level, is there a way to configure Logic to completely disregard midi information from a specific midi device as you can do in other DAWs such as Ableton Live...or is this simply a bug?
I am using the latest cut of Logic 9 with OSX Lion.there is no such option- unfortunately. but you can trick logic by plugging a cable from the correlating port of the input object to eg a monitor object and just leave it there.
this way all midi arriving from that particular port will be sent into nirvana (midi to nirvana interface )
