Logic in CAF

Hi,
When using (SAP) Enterprise Services, should you always place business logic in CAF?
Thanks,
Tamas

Hi,
It depends on the requirement you have.
You can import an External Service(RFC or Web Service) and write busines logic in Application Service Layer.
You can create an Entity Service and build an Application Service on it.
You cant code your business logic in Entity service but you have option to generate user defined methods in Application Service Layer only.

  • How to use a CAS in web dynpro with NWDS 7.0

    Hi, all.
I implemented a cas project (some entity services and application services). Now I want to use it in a web dynpro project.
I know how to do that with NWDS 7.1, but it seems  something differernt with NWDS 7.0.
Can  anyone give me a hand?  Thanks.

    hi
CAF Core project comes with a sub-project WebDynpro.
You can implement business logic using CAF Core Service ,integrate it in WebDynpro UI.
1)Select your CAF project root , right click on it and select u201CCreate Web Dynpro Modelu201D from the context menu.
    2) Switch to the Web Dynpro Perspective
3)You can find  the CAF Core services have been generated and are available to the WebDynpro component.
you can find caf services under modelclasses of webdypro project .
4)Then you proceed with creating component etc..

  • Getting Logic to ignore .caf files in the loop browser?

I don't even know if this is possible. I've installed Logic 7 on my laptop that also has GB '08. I want to keep GB, but I don't want all of those .caf files in my Logic loop browser. Is there a way to get rid of them from the browser without moving or deleting them so I can still use them in GB?

  • Using XI WebService in CAF as external service with Logical Destination?

    Hello,
I created a scenario WebService -> XI -> WebService in a PI7.1 system. I used the Web Service Wizard in order to generate a WSDL. If I test it for example in XMLSpy it works fine.
We then imported this WSDL into CAF as external service. That also works.
Now we have to map the CAF Service to a logical Destination. This has to be maintained in NWA. But here we need a URL to the WSDL. I cannot use the local WSDL Filed which I from that WebService Wizard.
Is there any generic URL were I can get the WSDL for the WebService which calls the XI Interface?
    Thanks and Best Regards
    Katharina

Good Idea. I tried that. I added the WSDL to a Web Module and deployed it with the CAF ear module. It is now available via: http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl
If I test it directly in WSNavigator it works fine,  but if I map my CAF Service to the logical Destination which is also using that URL, I get the following error:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.query.exceptions.TechnicalException: Deserializing WSDL stream http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl failed
If I try to find the service via the function "Search by Logical Destination" I get the following error:
Invalid content type while requesting http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl. Expected Content-type: text/xml, received Content-type: content/unknown, used user to connect: most
Has someone any idea what the problem could be?
    Thanks and Best Regards

  • Converting aiff to caf for use with the logic loop browzer

I've got a bunch of new loops. I would like to batch convert the to caf, and use them in the loop browser. Any know if this is possible????
    Thanks,
    CB

you don't need to convert as .caf
Logic support .aif .wav .sd2 loops and also .caf!
No conversion is required... if they are not already apple loop compatible you need to use Apple Loop Utility to add the Logic tags

  • CAF into MP3: Logic can't do it

Jjust would like to know why if I import a CAF file into logic and I want to convert it in MP3 it can't do it.
I tried also to convert first the CAF into AIFF and the into MP3. It can't.
Simply the MP3 option doesn't appear (it appears normally with others AIFF files)

Why not import the CAF and bounce it out as an Mp3, same difference.

  • CAF & MIDI Loops

I thought I had at least a basic understanding of both CAF and MIDI loops in Jam Packs, but then I started looking closer and am totally confused. If I drag a MIDI loop into Logic, I see what I would expect, a MIDI file and a generator. If I look that same file up in the Finder, it has a CAF extension and the Get Info says it opens with the Apple Loop Utility. If I open it in the the Apple Loop Utility and look at the Transients panel, I see an audio waveform that sounds just like the MIDI file plus the generator. Huh? What's going on?

The CAF format is a container which can store music in other formats, including MIDI.

  • Broken in Logic 9?: Reindex loops from external drive

Adding loops from an external drive in Logic 9 does not seem to work any longer. It used to work great in L8. Anyone have similar experiences? Know any work arounds? Is it a bug? If it's a bug I'll file it with Apple.
Previously in Logic 8 it was easy to reindex loops on an external drive:
    (1) Delete the loop indexes from root/Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index
    (2) Use Finder to locate the loops on the external
    (3) Drag the loop folders into the L8 media browser.
    (4) L8 asks if you want to copy the loops or use them from their present location. Select present location intsead of copy locally.
    (5) L8 takes 5-20 minutes to build index of loops from external drive
I have tried this procedure several times in L9 without success. Instead I get the following:
    (1) Delete the loop indexes from root/Library/Audio/Apple Loops
    (2) Use Finder to locate the loops on the external
    (3) Drag the loop folders into the L8 media browser.
    (4) L9 ask for my admin password.
    (5) Enter my password
    (6) I'm NOT asked if I want to copy loops locally or use them in their present location. Instead a reindex progress dialog comes up for 2 seconds then goes away.
    (7) In the end nothing happened. No loops copied, indexed, or anything
There is only one way I managed to get loops into L9 but it is exactly what I'm NOT looking for:
    (1) In the folder with all my loops spotlight search ".CAF" (In this case want to reindex Apple content which is all CAF)
    (2) Make sure to click "show more" at the bottom of the search results.
    (3) Drag the search results to the loop browser.
    (4) L9 indexes them all right, AND also copies them to my user library! All 30 GBs worth. Definitely not what I want.
In the end, I had to reinstall the Loops from the DVDs and specify an external location for them. (This whole mess got started when I tried to move the GarageBand and iLife loops to an external drive. The installer does not let you specify a location for them.)
Just so you know I've done some homework:
I've scoured other Logic forums and found these relevant threads that in the end did not solve the issue. They mostly seem to refer to Logic 8 which does not have this issue.

I just installed LP9 and all my loops and samples are on external drives. The drag and drop onto the browser method worked fine and I WAS given the option to move the files or not. The only exception to the above is Ultrabeat samples. They seem to want to be on the System drive.

  • What's the best way to (re)install Logic Studio? Need Help.

I bought Logic Studio a few months ago and installed it on my new MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz with 2G Ram, 160G hard drive @ 7200 rpm. Being new to Logic, at install, I just put all 40+ gigs of content on the computer. After a while I considered putting the Apple Loops (roughly 12gigs) onto an external hard drive to save space on my computer, just to see if it would work, then consider moving more content over later. After doing this the Logic application couldn't find the Apple Loops, and I couldn't find a way to help it see the new path, so my Apple Loops were essentially rendered useless (since I had already deleted them from the computer). So I stopped right there, and haven't done anything else. Just worked with Logic without using Loops, which I have to say is still an incredible program.
What also seemed strange was this: In moving the Apple Loops, the available disk space on the computer didn't seem to change much. It went down a few gigs, but not the 12 or so I was expecting. Not sure why that is. It seems like Logic and all the content is actually taking up around 50 gigs or so on my computer (and the Apple Loops are supposedly gone or not available). What is that about?
Feeling like I had really fouled things up, I called Apple Care. They said that the content of Logic is stored in many places in the computer's libraries and system folders, but it was really confusing trying to locate all of it, because the info they sent was from Logic 7 and older versions of GarageBand. I guess Logic 8 is too new for them to have anything on it. There is no uninstall for Logic Studio. But they strongly recommended that I perform an Erase and Install, and then re-install all my software including Logic, and then assign the hard drive I wanted the content in. That would open up a lot of the computer's hard drive space, they said. It seemed like an extreme measure to take for such a small blunder, and I haven't tried it yet, but will if it's the best option.
If I do this, is running Logic content (i.e. Loops, Impulse Responses, Jam Packs, etc.) from an external hard drive (and the one I have to use is 5400rpm--is that too slow or am I getting too picky?) the best way to go, or should I have all Logic material coming from the same machine? How do I get some of my hard drive space back?
    Ugh.
Has anyone out there experienced this too? Is there anything documented about where the content is stored for Logic Studio? Is Erase and Install really the best thing to do in this situation?
    So many questions...
    Thanks.

    Hey Blue,
Let me see if I can help you a bit.
Logic Studio has 28+ gb of loops. Almost 23 for STP and 6 for the Jam Packs, etc. They should be located in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple (that's the default install loc.). Copy them to an external drive and then delete them from your main drive. Go to /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Indexes and delete those text files. Now go to /Library/Preferences/Soundtrack Pro and delete those text files, too (more Loop Indexes).
Now open Logic Pro and it will say 'No Apple Loops found'. Click 'OK' and then open your Loop Browser. Drag all the Jam Pack folders, STP folder, etc. that you want to use onto the Loop Browser. Logic will ask you if you want to 'Copy to Loops Folder' or 'Current Location'. Choose 'Current Location'. Logic will now index the loop folders.
NOTE: You can change the names of the folders to suit your liking. For example: I added the 2, 3, 4, 5 after the Jam Pack names to make it look smoother on the popup menu and changed iLife Sound Effects to Sound Effects - iLife and Apple Loops for STP to STP. Now the Jam Packs 1-5 come up first on the popup menu and the FX stay at the bottom. I likee!!
Now, if you like you can take your EXS Factory Samples and Ultrabeat Samples, 3.35 & .889 gb respectively, and copy them to an external drive. I have mine in the same place as my Jam Packs, etc. You can find these files in /Library/Application Support/Logic. Toss out the originals and put ALIASES from the external drive back into the /Lib/App Sup/Logic folder.
Also, if you open STP and click the Search tab in the right pane you will see a button that says 'Setup' next to it. Click that and you can use the checkboxes in the window to activate/deactivate any of the loop folders available.
A clean install is the best IMO if you have a little time because a) you DO NOT have to install GB at all (that saves the .aif file size - Logic Studio uses .caf files at half the size of the originals) b) Logic Studio will install the extra GB or Logic 7 content if you need it at it's reduced size. It will basically get rid of all the old clutter that you do not need. Only install what JP's you want and move the bigger stuff to an external.
Rock up Logic and it should all be in place. That procedure saved me 32.5 gb on my main drive.
NOTE #2: You have another 12 gb (if you installed all Jam Packs) that reside in the /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler. These are the Jam Pack Instruments & Sampler files for World, Symphony, etc. They cannot be moved from the startup HD (as far as I can tell). So keep that in mind if you don't want a certain JP.
    Hope that helps,
    Dave

  • Problem in creating a callable object of type Business Logic

    Hi SDN,
I am trying to create a callable object of type Business Logic in CE.
When I give all information and click Next, I get this error message.
Error while loading configuration dialog: Failed to create delegate for component com.sap.caf.eu.gp.ui.co.CExpConfig. (Hint: Is the corresponding DC deployed correctly? Does the DC contain the component?)
Can anybody help me out with this problem.
    Regards,
    Sumangala

    Hi.
I'm having the same problem as Senthil in NW2004s SP15 with my application service and methods not showing up in the Callable Object wizard for Composite Application Services after I choose the Endpoint.  The only application name that shows up in the wizard is caf.tc, and the only service names that show up for it are LDDataAccessor, Metadata, and PropPermissionService.
My IDE is on one machine and the application server I deploy to is located on a different machine.  My endpoint to the remote application server looks to be correctly configured.  The Composite Application Service seems to be deployed properly as I'm able to see it and test that it works in the Web Services Navigator <http://remotehost:50000/wsnavigator/>
My deployed application service is a remote enabled service and is also web services enabled as well.
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I noticed that the generated Java code does not create any remote EJB interfaces (only home and local interfaces were generated).
Something else I noticed is that when I proceed to the External Service Configuration -> Business Entities screen <http://remotehost:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/cafUIconfiguration>, I only see three business entities displayed, and the following error message is displayed: "Corrupt metadata has been detected. This may prevent some objects from being displayed. Check the server log for more details."  I was unable to find anything in the instance log files.  Is the error message indicative of the problem?
I am developing locally without a NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI) in place.
I'm wondering if the credentials specified in the endpoint require any special roles or privileges.
Senthil, do any of these additional descriptions apply to you as well?

  • Getting APPSRV_JNDI_LOOKUP_ERROR while calling CAF Ext Serv from WebDynpro

    Hi,
Iam developing a Composite application using CAF External Service & Application Service with a Web Dynpro UI wherein all the business logic is developed and invoked as web services. I do not face any problem in generating project code, building, deploying and running the application in my machine. But when I deploy the relevant .ear files to some other machine, I get APPSRV_JNDI_LOOKUP_ERROR and Iam unable to perform any operation which invokes a web service.
Iam only trying to deploy in some other machine the following .ear files available in my machine available at ...\LocalDevelopment\DCs\sap.com\project\... folder :-
    sap.com~project.ear
    sap.comprojectmetadata.ear
    sap.comprojectpermissions.ear
    sap.comprojectwebdynpro.ear
The following is the exception trace that I get :-

But Iam unable to deploy this because it always throws invalid ear error. If I need to deploy this also, how do I do it ?
    2) Is my deployment approach correct ? Is there any other simpler approach ?
    3) If I need to deliver the project binaries to a third party how do I package them to ensure that it can be re-deployed at the other end ?

  • Mainstage no longer recognising caf files after update!?

I just installed the update to Logic and Mainstage, and am really happy with the improvements in Loopback and Playback, but I just tried exporting a CAF file from Logic to use in Playback and it doesn't let me sync it up... which it should do with CAF files.... am I missing something here?

I'm wondering what you mean by this. I have UB and a playback track in the same patch, and when I move around in the playback file, i.e. from marker to marker, UB doesn't seem to stay in time with the playback track. Granted, it could be because I have UB running in sequencer mode, but I don't know of any other way to run it in MainStage, other than triggered by external MIDI. How are YOU getting it to sync?

  • Is .caf non-compatible with EXS 24 ?

Trying to use a sample from Soundtrack pro library in a EXS 24 sampler instrument. Keep getting error code -39 Logical end-of-file reached during read operation. I thought the file was corrupt so I had a friend email me the file from his install, same error. Any clues ?

    hi,
.caf is only a "container format.
anyway, just re-record the clip as a standard .aif.
    then import it.

    Carl,
Here's a screenshot of my project's Solution Explorer:
OK, so I have a file called "Resources.resx" and another folder down below called "Resources" which contains images. Which one should I rename and what do I do about possible errors that might pop up when I try to Build or Run the app?
    Hello,
I mean the .resx file, but based on your screenshot, the Resources.resx file was generated by Visual Studio and it was not added by yourself, right?
This issue has beend discussed in the following thread, you could compare it with yours to narrow down this issue, since the error message shows that the project added duplicate data.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3003914/vs2010-an-item-with-the-same-key-has-already-been-added
You could follow that thread to check both the .resx file and the .csproj file to see whether there are duplicate data have been added.
