Logic Pro midi start/stop remote

I would like to start and stop (and even record) in logic with MIDI-commands from my keyboard (Roland RD-700GX).
The keyboard has several midi buttons which are progammable but the message which is sent, is not a controler or SysEx but the start/stop status bytes of the MIDI-protocol. Logic cannot recognise these messages. Is there any trick or what can I do to work around this problem.

Well I downloaded the Midi Implementation manual and it says that these the S1 and S2 buttons send this messages for start/stop. They are labeled as "Real Time Midi messages" but I could not understand if they are MMC ones for this device. If it is standard MMC it must looks like:

Where the Roland Device ID is 41 as far as I remember.
You can try the S1 & S2 start/play function but first enable "Listen to MMC Input" logic sync setting ( see the pic below ).
I downloaded the User Manual of the RD-700GX as well, so in page 103 I found "Transmitting the Control Change (USER CC)". can you try to assign for S1 & S2 buttons ? If yes then assign CC13 for S1 and CC14 for S2 ( values 0 for example ). After that try to learn the Logic Keycommands dialog for play stop using this buttons - see my first post picture.

How do i make logic pro 9 to stop crashing?

so, i want to know how i can make logic pro 9 to stop crashing it always happen when i have a song set up and then this is what appears.

Midi start/stop signals

does any body know if you can get garageband to send/recieve midi start/stop signals. i.e. I want to hit record on garageband and have it signal my drum machine, synth, sequencer or whatever to play

Logic Pro Midi Keyboard Randomly Stops

Hi, I am fairly new to Logic Pro 9 and music composition software in general. I have a Yamaha P85 keyboard that I am using with Logic. I use an E-MU midi 2x2 to hook it up to my computer (imac 2011). The keyboard has a midi in/out slots where I have a midi cable in the midi OUT slot. It connects to my E-MU midi device in the midi IN slot. A usb cable connects the midi device to my computer. The keyboard is recognized in my computer MIDI settings and works in Logic Pro. The problem is when im recording in logic or just playing, the keyboard will randomly stop for a few seconds (no sound when I hit keys) and nothing will be recorded during this period (if I'm recording). After 1-5 seconds the keyboard will work again. This happens randomly even when I'm not recording in Logic. Another problem is sometimes, also randomly, a note will be held (sustained) when I'm not holding down the key. Again, this happens in Logic whether I'm recording or not. I have searched a lot online and read many forums, but I cannot find an answer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have external speakers plugged into my computer so when I play my keyboard through Logic, sound comes out of my computer external speakers and not the keyboard speakers(I turn the keyboard volume off). The problem I described happens for the various virtual instruments I have tried, strings, woodwinds, pianos etc. In the Logic audio settings it says
Output Device: Built in Output
Input Device: Built in Microphone
I/O Buffer Size: 256 samples
When I say the keyboard stops, I mean no sound comes out of my computer speakers for a few seconds. It is as if someone turns the keyboard off for a few seconds and then back on. This happens in Logic when Im trying out different virtual instruments. You are correct when saying it happens only when Logic is running whether I am recording MIDI or just playing and NOT recording. I hope that makes sense. It wouldn't be such a huge problem, but it happens so often it makes it hard to play or record something thats longer than 10 seconds. Thanks for the help.

Macbook 1,83 Quatafire 610 Logic Pro Midi Problem

I use an Esi Quatafire 610 with my Macbook (1,83 Intel Dual Core) and Logic Pro 7.2.3. Since
the last Systemupdate (10.4.10) and Securityupdates, the Midi-Interface of the Quatafire have
"hang ons" at Port 1. Port 2 seems to be ok. I tried the Quatafire with my G5 (2,0 Dual) and
don´t have any Problem here. So the Quatafire itsself seems to be ok.
I also installed the Audio-Update for Intel machines but this was no solution. Does anyone
know something about this problem? The Quatafire works with Apple Core-Midi drivers.

Logic Pro Wont Start

Hello, I just downloaded the new OSX Lion for my Macbook Pro. I recently bought the Zoom R24 and wanted to use that device as a audio interface, but come to find out there isnt a driver thats compatiable between the zoom R24 and the new Osx Lion. So I decided to use a Mbox 2 Digidesign interface because thats what I used with Snow leopard. Now that I downloaded the new Logic Pro I cant get it to open at all.

Ive been using Logic 8 and FirePod for some time now and this semester enrolled in a Pro tools 8 class at Foothill using my Mbox. Things seems to be working with both logic and protools, so far other than exporting my sessions over to OMF format, mainly a vanilla import, no effects, automation, etc gets thru, but I digress....
Check to make sure that your system still see's the Motu device in the system profiler, and open the system log inside the console application within the Utilities folder and then watch what gets reported to the console while firing up Logic.
To get more help, include what os version your running and the hardware; Mac Pro, Macbook, etc... Stating the version of the programs, and of course have you applied system updates on the your machine....

Logic pro not starting up after install.

Ive tried to install Logic pro twice and both time it will not start up after install. can someone tell me what is the best way to install this program correctly? should i just pay apple more money to install the program for me?

I have exactly the same problem. Whilst 8.0.1 would hang during startup without displaying the splash screen intermittently 8.0.2 crashs every time a few seconds after displaying the splash screen.
Although my computer is almost 6 years old it is perfectly adequate for audio work. I hope this is fixed soon. Unimpressed with the quality control.

Suppose ur Database resides on X machine
and u want to do remote login from y or z ,
follow the conditions and steps below
1) You need to install servermanager utility in ur remote machine
2)then u need to run orapwd.exe utility on ur remote machine with following command
"orapwd file=<full path name where u want to keep ur password file > password=<password> entries=<no of DBAs u want that password file to be accessed by>"
after this u need to change Parameter in initialisation file , u will find one entry called "REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=NONE" u have to change it to " REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=EXCLUSIVE" u can also control multiple dabases from this same password file for that u will have to change above entry to REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=SHARED,after this
u need to pass following command "ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD U LIKE > "
this will change the password of both INTERNAL and SYS, now if u want to give multiple user access to this file then simply u grant two roles to them "ALTER SYSTEM GRANT SYSOPER,SYSDBA TO <USERNAME>" (INTERNAL AND SYS have these roles by default) this will add that user to that file now that user can also go to servermanager.Now u can Connect with any of the user which u have added in passwordfile in ur machine, and can remotely start or stop database with following Commands "STARTUP" "SHUTDOWN" respectively
*Note -
1)Location of password file is OS specific
2)if ur using windows then u need to remove one entry in registry "DBA_AUTHORISATION =''

Logic pro 8 start up

Whenever I start up logic pro I get a message- 'can't find "DAE folder" in system folder' -I then press return and logic appears to load as normal.
not sure how to sort this, please help, I'm sure it must mean my logic software is not operating properly.

It means you have turned on the DAE in Logic's audio preferences.
Open the Preferences -> Audio -> Devices -> DAE settings, and uncheck "Enabled"...

Logic Pro Wont Start Up.... HELP. Core AUDIO Problems

OK here goes.. I have been working with Logic since December. I have a lot of project that I am working on and I have this movie sound track that is my biggest thing. Anyway, I have been using logic pro 8 with my Motu Ultralite. Its been working just fine. I got a Mbox yesterday because one of the producers I am working with on this movie uses protools so I got the Mbox to work in Protools 08. I finished my session in Logic...> hooked up the Mbox and tested it out with Protools 8. It worked fine. Now today I tried to launch logic and it would not open. It gets to "initiallizing Core audio" and then it crashes and quits. Can someone help me on this one. I have a deadline to meet today and I have the finished project and cant access my Logic. I am going crazy seriously. Can anyone help. I have did the if You need a crash report I will post one here. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Logic Pro Midi Kontakt Issue...

I've just bought the Spitfire Albion 1 library and love it already. Although there is one problem which I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere, which is that when i am recording for instance a legato strings section from my midi keyboard, and using the kontakt modwheel (my keyboard doesn't have a modwheel, so i use the one on the kontakt interface), moving the mod wheel up and down makes all the difference it should, however when I stop recording and play back what i have recorded, it is wherever the mod wheel is placed after that determines the sound outcome. This means i can only have one modwheel value for one recording, which restricts the dynamics of compositions. Hope that all made sense and wondering how i can fix it? I'm relatively new to logic and kontakt, so am unsure about the whole situation

Kontakt does not pass the internal Mod Wheel info out to Logic. For libraries such as Albion, recording into Logic or creating the MIDI CC info offline, is essential.
You could manually create it using MIDI Draw, the Step Editor etc., though you may want to look into getting an additional keyboard or controller with a decent Mod Wheel.

My MacBook Pro mid 2012 stopped working completely.

It was fully charged, and I was on battery, and all of a sudden it stopped working. The display went black, and powering on doesn't work. LEDs don't light up after pressing the charge indicator button even though I am sure it is (almost) fully charged.
I tried connecting the power adaptor and the green LED doesn't glow. There seems to be some problem with my MacBook since my charger is working fine with other MacBooks of my friends.
Connecting another working adapter, and powering on didn't work either. It has been 7 months since I brought my MacBook, and I am running Mavericks. I have contacted the support, but they say I have to take it to the store.
Unfortunately, there are no Apple stores nearby my current location, and nearby ones are like 5 hours away from here.
So, I wanted to ask - Am I missing something? Is there something I can try now?

Try resetting SMC by following the below Method.

Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Logic Pro: Midi note key command

Hi all.
Does anyone know if there is a key command that allows you to set the length of a midi note in the piano roll? The example in particular I am looking for is if your chord takes up exactly one bar...yet one or two notes within the chord are slightly over (as a result of them being played in not programmed in), is there a key command that will automatically shorten said notes to one bar. At the moment I resort to cutting them or manually shortening them. I was just wondering if a short cut exists?
