Logic Pro X doesn't receive midi signals (Logic 9 does)

Hi,
When I updated to OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 Logic X stopped receiving midi signals from my keyboards and otther midi devices.
My system is:
Mac Pro (2010)
3,2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
Memory 8 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
The funny thing is that it worked great before the update to Yosemite, and when I run Logic 9 evreything works as norwal in Yosemite. No problem with the MIDI-signals then.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this.
I am using an Oxygen USB keyboard and a Alesis Control Pad, but there is no signal in Logic X.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

SAME PROBLEMS WHITH MY MAC BOOK PRO RETINA DISPLAY!!!
Logic Pro X crashes during the download of the additional content!!!!
QUITE DESPERATE!!!!
same problems whit Main Stage 3 !!!

The 8 pin Lightning connector can only output 720p and lacks all iPod Out functionality unlike the full iPod Out functionality and 1080p that the 30 pin connector has and I suspect that they are coding iOS 7 specifically for the new devices which have severely reduced abilities and perhaps skipping adding the code needed for 30 pin devices to use their functionality with HDMI, etc.

  • Logic doesn't receive a midi signal any longer

The whole morning I worked on my project in Logic, using my 2 midi keyboards, no problem. Now suddenly they stopped working. Logic doesn't receive any signal any more. I already did a midi driver reset, restarted the Mac, turned off and on the keyboards, checked the cables. Nothing works. What can be the problem?

If your MIDI interface does not appear, make sure it is powered on and connected to your computer. If you are running any Classic applications and your USB interface did not appear, quit AMS and all MIDI and Classic applications, shut down the Classic environment (you can do this in the System Preferences). If you did not install Mac OS X drivers for your hardware, you may need to do so.
If your MIDI interface is grayed out, like the Emagic EMI 6|2 M in the illustration, that means that this interface was previously present when you ran a MIDI application, but the driver could not locate it, or the driver is no longer installed. If the device is present, quit AMS and all MIDI and Classic applications, shut down the Classic environment, and make sure that drivers for your hardware are installed. If you no longer have this hardware, you can select and delete the interface if you like.
If your MIDI interface appears and is not grayed out, like the Edirol UM-880 in the illustration, this means that your device’s driver has successfully located the hardware and all is well. If you like, you can begin using your MIDI applications without any further setup. In your applications, you will see the names of the hardware ports, as assigned by the driver. In the case of the UM-880, for example, you will see “Port 1,” “Port 2,” etc.
If Audio MIDI Setup crashes when starting or when you click on MIDI Devices, this is probably because the MIDIServer process has crashed while starting, most likely due to a problematic MIDI driver. Try moving aside 3rd party MIDI drivers. Drivers are normally installed in/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers, though they may also be loaded from\$(HOME)/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers and/System/Library/Extensions. You might find useful clues as to which driver is crashing in:\$(HOME)/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MIDIServer.crash.log (scroll to the bottom for the most recent crash).

  • Logic receives MIDI but Mainstage WON'T!

Sorry this is sort of a repost but not quite...
*(Midi port working in garageband but not in mainstage)*

Mainstage 2.1.1 doesn't receive any MIDI from my controller. Audio-MIDI setup shows everything is fine ("test MIDI setup" plays the little "****" sound).
I read some of the posts and tried it in 64-bit (No luck).Mainstage 2.1.1 and 2.0 just don't see ANY data! Then I tried Mainstage 1 it finally recognized MIDI!
So... Logic 9.1.1 and Mainstage 1 receive MIDI, but Mainstage 2 doesn't!
    Really Wierd!

this program may prove very useful in your troubleshooting
    http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
I've had similar problems when trying to run Logic and MainStage simultaneously. If you don't start MainStage FIRST, then Logic somehow "grabs" the midi feed and won't let MainStage receive midi (though other non-logic-based things seem to still see the midi data (such as the afore-mentioned midi-monitor).
    A couple things to check:
Audio Midi Setup: make sure there's no goofy routings defined there. Make sure your midi device shows up there, test it, etc.
Try Making an entirely new account: based on the idea that *something user configurable* is horked up, try this. Go into the control panel and set up another account on the mac ... log into it, try to launch the updated MainStage ... if it works, then you definitely know it's something user-based and not system-based.

  • Logic Pro X doesn't launch

After the last update (10.0.7), Logic Pro X doesn't launch.
    First, it shows this window:
Whatever I choose, then the application doesn't respond anymore. It seems active in the Dock, but nothing works. I tried to reset all the preferences (Preferences > Initialize all Except Keys Commands), then it work the first time, then nothing.
There is a single way to work with the application: ctrl-click on a logic document and choose "Open".
I installed the trial version of Final Cut Pro, could this be the cause of the problem?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Eriksimon, the problem is that Logic doesn't really start: here what I see in the Menu bar. There's no File menu available.
I never had any problem before.

  • GB doesn't allow the midi signal in from my Yamaha p-250 keyboard

I'm using a Yamaha p-250 keyboard with a USB out to connect to my computer. I installed the driver for the p-250. Although the driver appears in the System Preferences it is somehow not getting a midi signal through to Garage Band, even though Garage Band detects a midi device attached. Please help me. Dave

Have you configured your Midi setup with the Audio/Midi Setup utility?
Often not doiong this is the cause of the problem you describe.

  • GB won't accept transposed MIDI signal from digital piano

For some reason I can’t get GB to accept transposed MIDI signals from my Previa PX-120 digital piano. The connections are correct, from the piano to my MacBook through an Edirol UA-25 interface, and the signal is getting through fine. If I want to record with the piano in default C, there’s no problem. But if I transpose at the piano, GB continues to play it through the monitor in C (the master track is set up to the correct transposed key). The signal coming from the piano is fine, as I’ve tested from the interface to speakers, and the same thing happens when I feed the signal through a Kurtzweil MicroPiano and do the transposition there - GB goes on reproducing it as default C.
The odd thing is that I had no problem with the same set-up with a Yamaha piano. This is probably irrelevant, but it’s strange.
Any help very gratefully received as this is screwing up recordings with piano, voice and guitar, when the piano player needs to transpose in some keys.

I’ve been asking myself the same question. The Privia manual is silent on the point and I can’t get a reply from their Support, though will try again. Unfortunately I’m no MIDI or sound technician, so know nothing about how transposed MIDI signals should work, but, having run tests again, the piano certainly seems to be sending an untransposed signal via MIDI. At least, when I connect the piano via MIDI to the MicroPiano the signal sent does not transpose (I was wrong in my first post about this), though I can then transpose it with the MicroPiano. This would be fine if all I wanted to do was then send it direct to speakers. But if I send the signal on to the Mac from the MicroPiano via MIDI, it doesn’t transpose either, and I’m back where I started.
In other words, neither the Privia nor the MicroPiano is outputting transposed MIDI signal, only default C signal, and this is the problem rather than GB. Does this make sense?
I’d be very interested to learn what you come up with re your Yamaha. I’ll get a colleague to try the same thing. And will also try Privia support again. But, meanwhile, if anyone else has any experience or knowledge, I’d really appreciate hearing.

  • Mainstage 2: Suddenly no midi signal

Im running Mainstage 2.1.3 with Lion 10.7.5
Hardware is: Malletkat Pro (midi keyboard) --> Mbox 2 -->Macbook
The concert is setup and running smoothly when suddenly Mainstage no longer recieves midi signal.  Mainstage is not frozen, it simply stops registering a signal from the keyboard.  Restarting Mainstage fixes the problem.
    Thanks for your help!

Obviously this poses a problem since I want to use the setup in a live concert...
    Thanks!

  • Imaged computer, now no MIDI signal

I teach in a 23 station Lab and we just installed brand new iMac G5s Intels with 2 gigs RAM on 10.5.6. We had been running the iMac PCs and we took the old computer and imaged to the new computer. We updated Logic and checked the installation of M-audio drivers for the old Radium 61. So, the problem: 5-6 out of the 23 computers don't get a MIDI signal in Logic or in GarageBand. I tried resetting the MIDI driver in Logic, reinstalling the drivers directly onto the computer, I tried swapping out known working keyboards and cables...no luck. Sometimes on some of the computers, I get signal in Logic but then I loose the signal again. NO MIDI in the transport window. Any suggestions?!!! Thanks.. I am geting desperate as I might have to revert to using chalk!

    Hi,
This sounds like bad Midi hardware. Try labelling the known bad ones, and exchanging them with known good ones.
On a personal note, I loathe M-Audio products. Guess you now know why.
Cheers, have fun finding the bad hardware...

  • Where is the Mac downloadable version of Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro that doesn't require activation

I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium, it cost more than €2,000. When I recently tried to re-install it due to having to reformat my hard drive I could no longer activate it over the phone or online.
When I rang the help number it directed me to the downloadable versions that don't require activation. Great! UNTIL I realise Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional is only available for Windows as a download.
Where is the download for the Mac Version as it not included in the bundle either. This is extremely urgent. Thank you in advance.

    To maswatson
The answer to your question of March 12, 2015 – "Where is the Mac downloadable version of Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro that doesn't require activation[?]" – is … nowhere. That doesn't mean it's not available to you, however. I have successfully installed several CS2 programs and Acrobat 7, on two computers.
The hard drive on my MacBook Air crashed recently. After a new drive was installed I had to reload various programs, including CS2 Premium. I used the original disks and the serial number on the package.
When I tried to open InDesign, however, I got an "Activate Using the Internet" message which led to an "Activation Server Unavailable" message that gave me three options, the last of which was "Click the Phone Activation button to activate the product over the phone." I called the toll-fee number and heard the following recorded message: "We no longer support activation issues over the phone."
So I searched the Web, figuring that others had encountered and solved this problem. Eventually, I found "Creative Suite Help / Download Acrobat 7 and OS2 Products" at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html#.
I also found "How to Fix Adobe’s “Licensing for this product has stopped working” Error by Aaron Nelsen at http://hijinksinc.com/2010/01/20/how-to-fix-adobes-licensing-for-this-product-has-stopped- working-error/. He writes "… you MUST delete adobe_00080000_tsf.data and adobe_00080000_event.log" which is found in /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet. So I did that.
I also deleted Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, and Photoshop CS2 from my Applications folder. I did not delete Acrobat 7 or GoLive.
After clicking on "English" at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html#, I downloaded Illustrator CS2 for Mac, InDesign CS2 for Mac, and Photoshop CS2 for Mac. I was not able to download Acrobat 7 because the only option is for Windows. As you know, there is no download for Mac.
Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, and Photoshop CS2 all opened without any problems. When I tried to open GoLive, I got the same "Activate Using the Internet" message I got at the outset, when I tried to open InDesign. I proceeded, and now have a 30-day trial. The same limitation has been placed on Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, because I downloaded them, whereas GoLive was installed from the CS2 disks.
Next, I opened Acrobat 7.0 Professional – the one installed from the original CS2 disks. It works fine.
BOTTOM LINE: If you want Acrobat 7.0 Professional, install Creative Suite using original CS2 disks, then delete the other CS2 programs from those disks. If you want Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, Photoshop CS2, and others, download them from https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html#.
I am hoping this explanation will help you. I feel great sympathy for you because the "answers" you received have been obtuse and clearly less than helpful. (I requested a "Yes," "No," or "Don't know" answer to a very straightforward question, but didn't get it.)
My experience tells me that the answer to your question "Where is the Mac downloadable version of Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro that doesn't require activation[?]" – is … nowhere, but you don't need to download it. It's on the original disks and it does not require activation. That's why Adobe did not included it with the Windows version at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html#.
I hope this answers your question, solves your problem, and ends your frustration.

  • FaceTime keeps trying to call but the other person doesn't receive it.

I'm trying to FaceTime an iPhone 5 and it just keeps ringing forever. The person on the other end doesn't receive any notification that I'm trying to call. I'm having the problem on both my iPhone 6 and my Macbook Air (mid-2013), and have tried on both WiFi and mobile (4G) networks. They are both using the same Apple ID account, and everyone involved has everything updated to the max. I've tried signing out of my Apple ID account and back in again on both devices, at different times and at the same time, with no effect.
I have previously FaceTimed the same person successfully from my iPhone 6 (over 4G, in January when I first got the phone) and Macbook (last year, and over a different wifi network).
It's super frustrating that Skype is being more reliable than FaceTime.
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Good day la_pahina,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that you're not able to make a FaceTime call using your iPhone 6 or MacBook Air. It can be frustrating when services like FaceTime don't work as they should.
Making sure all devices are updated to the max was a good troubleshooting step, as well as signing out and back in to FaceTime, and switching between Wi-Fi and Cellular networks.
If you are they have had the opportunity to test: Can you place FaceTime calls to other people, or can they receive FaceTime calls from other people?
Depending on if you or your friend see this behavior when making or receiving FaceTime calls to other people, you or they can try the additional steps in this article to troubleshoot the issue further:

  • AIM account doesn't receive any emails sent from my iPhone

This help question is going to sound odd maybe, but here goes. I just set up an AIM account for my girlfriend so we can use iChat and her webcam. But she wants to use the email portion as well. I receive emails from her on my iPhone BUT she doesn't receive any of the emails that I send back to her from my iPhone.
They show in the "send" box of my 3 email accounts, they are not AIM accounts btw. They are local isp accounts. If I send them from my MacBook Pro, they are received by her. If I send them from the WEB sites of my isp, she receives them.
    Why not from my iPhone???
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Steve.

Check the outgoing SMTP server settings for the mail account on your phone and make sure that they are the same as on your laptop. You may need to use several alternative SMTP servers depending on whether you are sending mail via your home wi-fi or via 3G. Ask your ISP for the first one and your mail provider for the second. You can enter multiple SMTP servers on your phone and it will try them in turn.

  • Multitimbral pluggins receiving midi volume issue

I can't get some third party pluggins (Stylus RMX or the East West Symphonic Orchestra) to recevie midi volume on multiple midi channels. The pluggins will receive midi note information on multiple midi channels, but the pluggins seem to receive all midi volume globally (the midi volume triggers the fader on the audio instrument instead of adjusting the volume "internally" before the fader). A workaround is to use a transfomer to filter out the midi volume from the audio instrument and use a channel splitter to route it to the aux's that the multiple outputs are routed to. Does anyone have a better idea?

In fact Logic needs a basic revision to conform the plug-in interface to the AU standard, ie. passing controllers #7 and #10 to the plug-ins.
That was something that always puzzled me a little. Why was Continuous Controller data kept in the Track Automation scheme at all (other than for MIDI devices)? It couldn't have been for song backward compatibility because automation from pre-Logic 5 songs was written in object-based automation.
It wouldn't have been for compatibility with generic control surfaces either, because that didn't appear to be a high priority.
I'm wondering now if it was something Mackie insisted on when Logic Control was being developed, so that the device would be more compatible with software other than Logic? (i.e. Mackie Control )
When the Automation Splitter function was added, I was somewhat surprised that CC events for just Vol and Pan were still kept. (it could have been made secondary for backward compatibility)
I would have thought that Logic 7 would have ben the perfect juncture at which to remove CC events from Track Automation completely and thus allow them to all be passed to AU plugins. But it didn't happen.
I have a feeling that the programmers may have somehow gotten into a compromise that is hard to get out of.

  • WRT54G2 slows computer receiving wireless signal

Basically, i got a desktop computer connected to the modem n router with a laptop and ps3 receiving the signal. Internet works fine on all 3 seperately but the problem only occurs when the desktop computer is on the internet. When its on, the internet on the laptop works but is very slow and receives constant 'the connection has been reset' errors in the browser and also has trouble signing in to msn. With the ps3, the internet doesn't work at all with the desktop on the internet. Anyone know wuts wrong??
