Login as SYS using OCI 7
I can not log in as SYS / password as sysdba
using OCI 7..
Do anyone has any ideas, on what to do ?
Thanks
I think that what Nancy is referring to is (from 9.2
docs):
Purpose
Toggles between a V8 or later service context handle and a V7 Lda_Def.
Syntax
sword OCISvcCtxToLda ( OCISvcCtx *srvhp,
OCIError *errhp,
Lda_Def *ldap );
Parameters
svchp (IN/OUT)
The service context handle.
errhp (IN/OUT)
An error handle you can pass to OCIErrorGet() for diagnostic information in the event of an error.
ldap (IN/OUT)
A Logon Data Area for Oracle7-style OCI calls which is initialized by this call.
Comments
Toggles between an OCI release 8 or later service context handle and an Oracle7 Lda_Def.
This function can only be called after a service context has been properly initialized.
Once the service context has been translated to an
Lda_Def, it can be used in release 7.x OCI calls (for
example, obindps(), ofen()).
Note: If there are multiple service contexts which share
the same server handle, only one can be in Oracle7 mode
at any time.
The action of this call can be reversed by passing the
resulting Lda_Def to the OCILdaToSvcCtx() function.
The OCI_ATTR_IN_V8_MODE attribute of the server handle or
service context handle enables an application to determine
whether the application is currently in Oracle
release 7 mode or Oracle release 8 or later mode

hi,
i have a problem in login with sys, the situation as follows:
1- when i try to connect using : sqlplus "/as sysdba" or "sys/password as sysdba" it connect me to the DB.
2- when i try to connect : sqlplus "sys/password@MYDB as sysdba" it gives me "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied".
3- when i try to connect with another user i.e : sqlplus "system/password@MYDB" it connect me to the DB.
DB version : 9.2.0.8
OS version : Solaris 10
please advice...1- when i try to connect using : sqlplus "/as sysdba"
or "sys/password as sysdba" it connect me to
the DB.This works anyway, because you're authenticated by OS. Example :
SQL> conn sys/aaaa as sysdba
Connected.
SQL> conn sys/bbbb as sysdba
Connected.
SQL>
2- when i try to connect : sqlplus "sys/password@MYDB
as sysdba" it gives me "ORA-01017: invalid
username/password; logon denied".Here you need the real password, so make sure you're using the correct one. -
Login as sys without supplying the password from the db host
Hi
I have tried today to login into the database as sys user and was able to login by providing a blank password. I tired this from sql plus installed in the db host. Why is the db allowing users to login as sys users with blank password? isnt this a authenticatio issue? is there any explanation or usage of this faciltiy.
Also i have tested to connect using another db user "as sysdba" and got connected with blank password.
Regards
MaheshIf you connected to server with oracle user, or with user who is owner of Oracle Software, then it means that you're the administrator and you can connect to database without password

Hello all,
I need to someone's help.
I just installed Oracle After 9i (9.2.0.1)Install on Windows 2003.
I can only login using scott/tiger.
cannot login as sys/sysdba/system
I used Oracle dtabase Configuration Assistant. At the last step it asked me if I want to change sys and system passwords, I did. However, I cannot verify if system took those. The default combinations system/manager sys/change_on_install are not working.
As well as my new passwords.
How can I resolve it?
Thank you in advance,
SonyaRecall what you used and you should be able to login .
OR
On windows create new password for sys user. This should work for you since you are on windows OS
back up the file in you ORACLE_HOME/database/PWD<SID>.ora
Create a new one using
orapwd file=...database/PWD<sid>.ora password=<new password> entries=5
stop the oracleService<SID>
start the oracleService<SID>
sqlplus /nolog
connect sys as sysdba
Enter password: <new password>
You should be able to login with this new password created

Hi all,
i was asked to verify if it is possible to implement a vendor integration without an SRM Server. The vendor offers a catalog that supports OCI.
We want to build a simple prototype that shows the vendors catalog, gets the data from it and processes the returned data.
In our ERP system (2004 and 2004s) I found the package BBP_WS_BASIS which contains sample implementations for the OCI. As far as I tried, I could not get the example apps running.
Unfortunately I was not able to to find any documentation on the package.
Has anyone experience with the package or in using OCI with ERP without SRM?
Any information might help.

Thanking uBathina,
Your problem is in your URL:
String url="jdbc:oracle://oci8:/@mohan";As far as I know, you can't use the forward-slash character ("/"), by itself, as your database login name -- you must supply a "login/password". I don't know why, and if you don't like it, I suggest you create a TAR (Technical Assistance Request) via the MetaLink Web site.
I recall similar questions being asked in this forum -- have you tried searching the forum archives?
Good Luck,

Hi,
I'm a newbie in oracle. I have a oracle db 9.0.1.3.0 on windows 2000. I'm tryin to login usin the splplus dialog box as sys..i get teh error connection to sys shud be as sydba.
i try
sql> conn sys/sys@test as sysdba (dos)
it works fine..
wat is the syntax to connect as sys using the sqlplus dilaog box..( Orahome>application development>sqlplus)
kindly advise .
thanx in advanceHi,
Well you're trying to use the "GUIed SQL*Plus". when the connect dialog pops ther's nowhere to tell it you want to connect AS SYSDBA.
There are different ways to achieve this. For example you can:
- type "/nolog" in the login box, click OK, and then use the sqlplus CONNECT.
- type the full identifier string in the login field "sys/sys@srv as sysdba"

After downloading the NI nimhddk_windowsWDM-2 and -1
Instead of using the make file I built nirlpk.sys using MS WDK 8.0 on VS2012
I copied the source files out of the dir /nirlpk to the MS template for WDM drivers
It built after turning warnings as errors off.
After uninstalling the NI_DMX driver I tried to install the RLP driver that consisted of nirlp.inf and nirlpk.sys
I got this message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encounted and error while attempting to install it.
PCI-6602 RLP WDM
Driver is not intended for this platform
Is the nirlp.inf file correct for loading on Windows 7 64 bit?
Any ideas?I have now altered the example along lines
suggested by ghaneman*, who pointed out that
a trusted application did not need to use the
FileOpenService/FileContents just to get an
InputStream.
* Mentioned on 'File associations / sandboxed app.'
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=785224
The altered code is..
/** Load a file into the editing area.
@param path A string representing the path to the desired file. */
public void loadFile(String path) {
// first try as if this were a trusted application..
if (!path.equals(".")) {
try {
FileInputStream inputStream = new
FileInputStream(path);
loadFile(inputStream);
} catch (Exception e) {
// we do not have trust, use the FileOpenService
loadFileByFileService(path);
} else {
// we only have a directory, use the FileOpenService
loadFileByFileService(path);
public void loadFileByFileService(String path) {
try {
if (fileOpenService==null) {
fileOpenService = (FileOpenService)ServiceManager.
lookup("javax.jnlp.FileOpenService");
fileContents = fileOpenService.openFileDialog(path, xtns);
// the user may have cancelled the action..
if (fileContents!=null) {
loadFile( fileContents.getInputStream() );
} catch(UnavailableServiceException use) {
use.printStackTrace();
} catch(IOException ioe) {
ioe.printStackTrace();
}If the user launches the trusted version, and
selects 'always trust' for the (self signed)
certificate, the end user can thereafter double
click a file and see it appear in the application's
editing area with no further user interaction. -
I have a iphone 5 and I can login with my apple id to purchase music. However, when I try to login into icloud using the very same username and password that I use in the apple store it does not work to enter icloud, so what what gives???
I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

How to bind arrays to PL/SQL stored procedure using OCI?
Hi,
We are having problems trying to bind arrays to PL/SQL stored procedure using OCI. Here is the situation:
- We have a stored procedure called "GetVEPFindTasks" with the following interface:
PROCEDURE GetVEPFindTasks (
p_ErrorCode OUT NUMBER,
p_ErrorMsg OUT VARCHAR2,
p_RowCount OUT NUMBER,
p_VEPFindTasks OUT t_VEPFindTaskRecordTable,
p_MaxTask IN NUMBER);
t_VEPFindTaskRecordTable is a record with the following entries:
TYPE t_VEPFindTaskRecord IS RECORD (
RTCID NUMBER,
TransNum NUMBER,
TransTimestamp VARCHAR2(20),
Pathname1 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
Pathname2 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
Pathname3 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
OperatorID operator.id%TYPE);
- Now, we are trying to call the stored procedure from C++ using OCI (in UNIX). The call that we use are: OCIBindByName and OCIBindArrayOfStruct to bind the parameters to the corresponding buffers. We bind all parameters in the interface by name. Now, we do bind the record's individual item by name (RTCID, TransNum, etc.), and not as a record. I don't know if this is going to work. Then, we use the bind handles of the binded record items (only record items such as RTCID, TransNum, and NOT error_code which is not part of the record) to bind the arrays (using OCIBindArrayOfStruct).
All of the parameters that are binded as arrays are OUTPUT parameters. The rest are either INPUT or INPUT/OUTPUT parameters. Now, when we try to execute, OCI returns with an error "Invalid number or types of arguments" (or something to that sort... the number was something like ORA-06550). Please help...
Is there any sample on how to use the OCIBindArrayOfStruct with PL/SQL stored procedures? The sample provided from Oracle is only for a straight SQL statement.
Thank's for all your help.
** Dannil Chan **As you said:
You have to pass in an array for every field and deconstruct/construct the record in the procedure. There is no support for record type or an array of records. Can you give me a example? I'am very urgently need it.
thanks

Thanks,
KumarYou should confirm that you can connect to the DB with a simple Java class using the url that the code you posted is using.
This will show that the OCI client is installed and executing properly. If you can't connect externally you will need to fix that first.
Is the Oracle client installed on the same machine the JDBC code is running on? -
"ocijdbc9.dll: Can't find dependent libraries" error using OCI in 902
Trying to use JDBC OCI driver in 9.0.2 OC4J to connect to a 9.2.0.2 DB. Environment set appropriately (per "Data Sources" guide) to use oci jars and dlls in 9.2.0 client install/directory. Why can't it find these dependent libraries and how to I workaround this?
Thanks,
BrianHow are you loading the library? If you're using the System#loadLibrary(String) method, the dll in question has to be in your computer's PATH (ie, somewhere in the folders defined in the PATH system variable). Simply being in the same path as the JVM or your classpath doesn't cut it. Moreover, don't include the extenion when calling loadLibrary. Thus, you'd call System.loadLibrary("HelloNative").
Another option is the System#load(String) method, which expects a fully-qualified path. Thus, if your dll is in C:\Development\Native, you'd have to call System.load("C:\Development\Native\HelloNative.dll") (notice the inclusion of the extension).
Hope this helps,

Balaji.CSounds like you did not specify your database name. Or you database name is hard-coded.
Can you show us the code?
Is your TNSNAMES.ORA set up correctly?
Also, you did not specify any error messages or anything. Are you checking the result codes after any functions?
