Login attempts with wrong /expired password..Security

Hi,
I need to know dictionary view , which tells which user is trying to login with wrong password.
Actually login history for oracle user account.
please tell procedure or configurations for this.
Thanks in advance.

This is a correct method for OLD versions
See correct value for AUDIT_TRAIL in 10g : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams016.htm#REFRN10006
From a security point of view, the best is to audit into OS (syslog : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/network.102/b14266/auditing.htm#sthref1168)
From a day-by-day point of view, the simplier is to audit into DB (SYS.AU$)
Thoses parameters are not dynamic but you've to modify thoses in spfile, as Oracle recommand using spifile instead of pfile.
svrmgrl no longer exist, you have to do this in sqlplus.

    How to fix?

    Hello, Olliegirl1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
When experiencing issues connecting to the iTunes store on an iOS device, here are the troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

  • Combine Apple ID's, recover pwd with wrong email and security info?

I created a new Apple ID. I entered wrong email and birthday on original and can't recover password. iPad and iPhone App Store will not recognize new ID but iTunes does. Can I combine Apple ID accounts and past purchases?

No. Unfortunately you cant consolodate apple IDs... I would advise you to just create a new one since you entered a wrong email address for the actual apple ID.
Or go to appleid.apple.com and manage your account. Maybe you can try recovering your password there... however if you were not able to enter a rescue email beforehand then that would be impossible considering the email you entered was incorrect!!

I came across a situation today where a user was logged into a laptop with an expired password and could not change it by simply locking the computer and logging in with the correct credentials. • Simple Interface expired password change prompt

We have a population of users who access GW exclusively through WebAcc. Some of this population has jumped on the mobile device bandwagon and so we've directed them to the simple interface when accessing GW from a mobile device.
Some of these mobile device users now exclusively use the simple interface on their tablet/phone to access GW and when their password is expired, are never presented with the password change dialogue.
Ive verified when user with an expired password navigates directly to the simple interface url , https://gwserver/gw/webacc?User.interface=simple, either on a mobile device or desktop browser, IE, FF, Chrome, the user consumes a grace login and is taken directly to the simple interface mailbox.
Resetting grace logins and navigating to the standard webacc interface the GW password change dialogue is presented as expected.
GroupWise 8.0.1 webacc on netware. I think wed refrained from going to newer releases in fear of some nasty bugs in the subsequent versions, but Ive not kept current on issues with the latest release.
I understand the next GW version with native mobile device templates is around the corner, but management may want to address this sooner.
Is this failure to recognize password expiry in the simple interface a know behavior?

  • Resetting an Expired Password

    Hello All
I am not sure if this is the right forum so please let me know if not.
I currently have an ASP page that authenticates users against a Sun ONE LDAP server. The problem we seem to have is that when a users password expires, we cannot bind anymore. The easiest way for us to sort this would be to get the "Password has expired" return code but I cannot work out how to do this in ASP.
Or is the problem deeper than this and once a password has expired a user cannot reset it? Do we need to change something else to allow a user to bind with their old password to reset their password. Remembering we are trying to do this all with asp.net.
    Thanks
    D

I also am ignorant of asp.net; however, Sun DS 6 has several features that can help solve your problem if you can figure out how to access them:
    1. If you configure the "expiration warning" feature in the password policy, once a entry's password is in the warning period, an unsolicited "expiration warning" control is returned with each bind. The control data is the seconds until expiration. Password policy configuration is documented in http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2491/fhkrj?a=view . You can search for "OID 2.16.840.1.113730.3.4.5" on google for info about the control. You should also become familiar with the unsolicited password expired control "OID 2.16.840.1.113730.3.4.4". These controls are also implemented in DS5.
    2. If you supply the bind (or most other) operation with the IETF draft password policy request control, Sun DS 6.1 and later return a (properly encoded) password policy response control containing password policy operational state. Search for "OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.42.2.27.8.5.1"
    3. Your application can request the operational state of an entry via the user status control in Sun DS 6.1 and later. Search for "OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.42.2.27.9.5.8"
    4. If you have implemented some form of expiration warning, then presumably the majority of your users will have changed passwords before expiration, and you can force the others to go through some self-service or help-desk password reset function (i.e., enable must-change-on-reset, then administratively change the user's password, forcing him/her to change it at next bind).
    5. If you want to allow users with an expired password to access the DS solely for the purpose of changing the password, see http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2491/6ne3dhdht?a=view#resetting-expired-passwords . If you do some more investigation on Sun DS (6.2 and later) implementation of the password modify extended operation (and ldappasswd), you should find details on enabling the extension to allow a user to change an expired password.
    6. You might also take a look at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2490/6ne3cisoj?a=view#pwdpol for an overview of the new password policy implementation in DS6, compared to the DS5 password policy, and the strategy to migrate from DS5 to DS6.

  • AOL email cannot send PASSWORD securely to the server???

Hi, When I set up any aol account in mail, and click create, it always comes up with cannot send password securely to the server. This problem happened right after updating to snow leopard. Any one else have the same problem? Any solutions? Thanks.

For years and years most email servers accepted connections that were insecure, meaning that passwords were transmitted in plain text, and the email messages came back as plain text as well.
Now many servers encourage the use of SSL connections, which encrypts the data in both directions. Mail is trying to warn you that the SSL connection cannot be established, and therefore your data could be intercepted in transmission.
AOL's website (http://about.aol.com/faq/openmailaccess) states that they do not support SSL connections, therefore your only method of accessing your email is to use an unsecure connection.
Alternatively you could go to AOL.com (not use Mail.app) and read your email here as this will establish a secure HTTPS connection.
The best solution though is to stop using AOL and get either a MobileMe or a gmail account.

  • Site Login Behavior For SharePoint Foundation 2013 Users With Expired Passwords?

What are the most user-friendly ways of getting external users with expired AD passwords back into the SharePoint site with a new working password?
We already send automated email notifications to users reminding them to change their soon-to-expire passwords.  However, sometimes they miss seeing the email notifications before the password expires (such as after returning from vacation or just carelessness
and lack of attention to email messages) or they see the warning messages and forget to act on it.
When this happens and they try to log into the SharePoint site from the Internet, their login fails without telling the user the reason they can't log in is because their password expired.  So, they end up confused and call the help desk to get their
    password reset.
Is there a way to set up SharePoint Foundation 2013 login in a similar way to the OWA login so that, when a user with a correct but expired password tries to log in, it gives them a prompt to set a new password right there rather than just an error indicating
their login failed for unknown reasons or password is "incorrect?"

It could be done. You get a different event log entry for an expired login attempt than for a wrong password, 4625 events denote a login failure and an error ID of 23 denotes a logon failure.
A naff, but simple, approach would be to create a tool that checks your server logon event log for 4625 entries and then emails that user, or the help desk, or security, that they're trying to get onto your system with expired credentials.
For a more polished experience you've got a lot more work and bluntly it's going to be impractical for you. You'd have to re-write sections of the SharePoint authentication process or intercept the process, both are risky and not a good idea to try.
There's a really interesting paper here that might be of interest, it won't help you in your current situation but it might shed more light on the overall authentication/authorisation process.

    Hi Eslam El-Gammal,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that after resetting your iPhone, you are being prompted for Apple ID information that is not yours. This can happen if an iPhone is restored without turning off the Find My Phone feature. For more information on this, please refer to the attached article.

my ipod touch locked after several attempts with the wrong password. how do i reset the password.

If it's showing the disabled screen due to too many incorrect passcode attempts then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPod and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPod into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Blackberry ID - forgot password, forgot password recovery info, exceeded login attempts, why can't BB send me email to reset password.

    THE ISSUES ARE:
    1. FORGOT PASSWORD
    2. FORGOT PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO
    3. EXCEEDED ATTEMPTS TO LOGIN
I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES FORUM PROBLEMS THAT ARE THE SAME. WHEN I FOLLOWED LINKS THAT SUPPORT GAVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
What I need is simply this: Blackberry to send me a RESET PASSWORD link to the email I have registered with Blackberry WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO. This will enable me to bypass unknown recovery password info and access my Blackberry ID account.
Why haven't I been able to find a solution to fix the problem?
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO EXIST........ ANYWHERE..... EVEN ON YOUTUBE BLACKBERRY ARE RUNNING AN OUT OF DATE SOLUTION CENTRE.
When looked online to Blackberry youtube video it shows a solution that doesn't exist! WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS UPLOADED IN 2011. DUH. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvdRb4qNG1M
If I can't remember my password or recovery password info there is NO other option available that will send me a reset password via email so I can keep my current BB ID.
KB34776 - does not apply because you HAVE TO BE ABLE TO REMEMBER YOUR RECOVERY PASSWORD!
    CHECKED THIS OUT...
    Workaround
If the BlackBerry ID password has been forgotten but the answer to the password recovery question is known, select Forgot Password on the smartphone and answer the recovery question to generate a password reset email. Follow KB28685 to complete this process.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user knows the email address used for the BlackBerry ID login but is unable to remember the associated password then it is possible to reset the password using the steps below:
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.
To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, log in to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow KB34137.
Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected], at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Log in to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected]. If the email is not found in the inbox, check the mailbox's Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user does not know the email or password that was used for the BlackBerry ID, the BlackBerry ID will be locked out after 10 unsuccessful login attempts. See KB24157 for BlackBerry ID lockout behavior.
    THEN CHECKED KB24157......
    Overview
BlackBerry ID is the master key to BlackBerry smartphone products, sites, services and applications, including BlackBerry Protect and the BlackBerry App World storefront.
To prevent unauthorized access to the account, the BlackBerry ID will become locked out after a number of failed attempts. See the information below for an outline on the expected behavior:
    Local Authentication Lockout
On BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones if the user enters their BBID password incorrectly 10 times on the BBID sign in screen, verify password screen, or BBID Edit screens, they are LOCKED OUT of all the following functions on that BlackBerry device for 15 minutes:
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the sign in screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the verify password screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the BBID edit screens
Note: The user can still log in on the web or any other devices associated with their BlackBerry ID. They are only locked out on the device where the 10 incorrect attempts occurred.  On the locked out device, after 15 minutes, they get 1 try to provide the correct password on the sign in and/or verify password screens. If they fail to enter the correct password, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes on that device.
    Account Server Lockout
Users have total of 10 attempts to enter their password correctly against the BlackBerry ID Account Server.
The scenarios that increment the Account Server lockout counter are as follows:
Providing an incorrect password anywhere on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
Providing an incorrect password within the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on any BlackBerry device or BlackBerry PlayBook
Note: if a user provides an incorrect password 5 times on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid), and then 5 more times on the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on their BlackBerry PlayBook, the cumulative number of failed attempts is 10. Once the user has made 10 incorrect attempts to provide their password against the Account Server, they are locked out of the Account Server PERMANENTLY until they reset their password.
See KB26361 for information to reset a BlackBerry ID password
Note: The Account Server Lockout does NOT prevent the user from local authenticating on devices  (the user can still authenticate on the sign in and verify password screens on their BlackBerry devices).
    Forgot Password Lockout
If the user answers their Security Question incorrectly 10 times, they are locked out for 15 minutes of Forgot Password functionality on all interfaces such as:
    BlackBerry website (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
    BlackBerry PlayBook
    BlackBerry smartphone
Note: After 15 minutes, they get 1 try, and if they fail to answer the question correctly, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes.
THAT DIDN'T WORK SO NOW ITS BACK TO..... KB26361

If the password for a BlackBerry ID account has been forgotten and the login is unsuccessful, use the following process to reset the password.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.  To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, login to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow  KB34137.
To generate a password reset email, complete the following:
Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK. (Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed)
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected] , at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Login to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected] If the email is not found in the inbox, check the Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID email address is a BlackBerry mail address (e.g. <username>@tmo.blackberry.net), the BlackBerry ID password reset email will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone. Since the BlackBerry mail address is not accessible from a computer, the steps outlined in KB28111 will need to be performed.
IT ALL LEADS BACK TO THE SAME UNHELPFUL NON-SOLUTION OF USE THE PASSWORD RECOVERY QUESTION....
Can the tech department of Blackberry please sort out this ridiculous unhelpful system by sending customers a direct email if password is forgotten so they can reset without having to go through the above without finding a solution.
    THANK YOU.

That said, it sounds like you have exhausted all of the automatic recovery methods...but just in case, please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
But do please keep in mind that security is a 2-way street...the human element play an equal part in that security, and you have failed at that in this situation, yet desire for the automated methods to still recover for you. Such just isn't possible, because your failure has exceeded the capabilities of the automated methods.
Hence, you likely need human intervention from an actual BB representative, which is not available in this forum (as discussed in the first link I gave you above). But, the methods to attempt to seek human intervention are posted within the 2nd link I gave you.
    Cheers, and Good Luck!
