  • I have OSX 10.5.7 on my Intel Mac. When I try to login using the correct password the screen goes white and just returns back to the login screen. It does not jiggle like when you enter the wrong password.

I have had a number of issues with my Intel Mac recently and had to reboot using disk utilities, safe mode, OSX recovery, but always come back to the login screen but when I type my password the screen goes white and returns to the login screen. My password is correct and the login does not jiggle as it would if the password was wrong. Please advise,

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. There are ways to back up, even if you can’t log in. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore everything to the state it’s in now. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP.
The procedure below may spare you the need for a clean reinstallation of OS X. If you don't feel comfortable carrying it out, don't. try.
Briefly, you need to delete the following file:
    /var/audit/current
If you already know how to do that, you can skip the rest of this message. Do it, and try again to log in.
Boot in single-user mode by holding down the key combination command-S at the startup chime. If you’re using an external USB keyboard, it must be plugged directly into a built-in port on the Mac, not into a hub. Release the keys when you see a black screen with scrolling white text. In this mode, there’s no graphical interface; just a command line. Initially, you can’t make any changes to files.
When the text stops scrolling, and you see a line ending in a pound sign (“#”), type the following command:
    mount -uw /
You must type the command exactly as given, with no mistakes. If you don’t feel able to do that, STOP. At this stage, no harm will be done if you make a mistake, but later, it will be. Press the return key.
    Next, type the following command:
    rm -i /var/audit/current
Press return. You should get the following output:
    remove /var/audit/current?
If that's not what you get, STOP. Type the single letter N, press return, and try again. Otherwise, type the single letter Y and pressreturn.
    Finally, enter the command:
    exit
Press return. The text will start scrolling again, and then the system will reboot. Try again to log in.

  • How to pop up a login screen when using menu?

I have created a Menu. Now I want to create a login form, means login form will be the first form where there will be a button of log in. As soon as an user click that button a login screen should be popped up. Then user will enter the login id and password and then he is connected. Now he/she can access to other forms in the menu. Could you please tell me how to do that?

You can start a form without login in by putting "null;" in the on-logon trigger and the put logon in the menu that you want the user to select to login.
Search this forum for the login code. It has some finer points when it comes to exception handling that are not obvious.

  • Looped Login Screen

I had Yosemite but found out it doesn't support After Effects and others apps so I tried to reistall 10.6.8 from Time Machine. I keep being directed to the blue login screen over and over again. Each time I enter my login correctly, but each time it redirects me to the blue login screen. I can boot up in safe mode and tool around no problem. How do I fix this?

    Greetings monkeytoesfilm,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
If you only see a blue screen after reverting to OS X 10.6.8 with Time Machine, but Safe Mode works normally, try these troubleshooting steps next:
Mac OS X 10.6: If you see a blue screen at startup
If you see the login window prompting you for a user name and password, but starting up doesn't progress, you may have incompatible login items.
    Eliminating incompatible login items
Repair your startup disk or disk permissions by starting up from your Mac OS X installation disc and using Disk Utility.
    Repairing a disk
Back up your disk and then reinstall Mac OS X by starting up your computer with your Mac OS X installation disc.
    Reinstalling Mac OS X
    Sincerely,
    Jeremy

    Hi
    Please check this:
+Useful information regarding file protection with the AuthenTec Fingerprint software+
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9C02RC0001R01.htm
The fingerprints will not be deleted by uninstalling the software.
The fingerprints are stored in fingerprint sensor flash.
You have to delete the fingerprints using the fingerprint software.
If this is not possible, then you will need to contact the Toshiba ASP technician for this job!

  • Login Screen Bootloop

    Hello,
So I have a very strange situation going on with my MacBook Pro 13" 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo running Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (Initial release).
Here is the problem. I recently restarted the MacBook, it got through the boot just fine and made it to the user login screen. I typed in my password and pushed enter and it reloaded the Login screen as if I had not typed anything in.
I have tried the common things that would fix the problem.
First I typed in a clearly wrong password multiple times, it doesn't reload the screen (once I did the correct password it did).
Tried booting into Safe Mode, no dice.
I booted into the recovery drive to verify and repair the disk. It did repair something but didn't repair the problem.
I am curious if anyone else has had this problem or what else I should try as I am running out of ideas.
    Brett

  • Frozen on the login screen

    Hello there!
I have made excellent progress installing arch linux, and have finally gotten myself to the log in screen. I have installed arch with the slim login manager, and the awesome window manager. Upon reaching the login screen everything seems to freeze up. I cannot enter my username, and the the '|' indicating where you are going to type does not blink. I do not think that it is recognizing my keyboard, the keyboard is responsive while booting (num lock can toggle on and off) but un responsive after reaching the log in screen (num lock is off and cannot be toggled on). I'm not sure what could be causing this, but appriciate any ideas!!

I added '1' to the end of the kernel line and booted, I got to the log in screen, but was still unable to use the keyboard or mouse. I tried again adding '3' at the end of the line, and when the machine booted it loaded the arch command line. I signed in from here, and the desktop loaded, but I was unable to use the keyboard or mouse. Any thoughts?
EDIT: sorry, made the previous post before thinking to hard. I used the command to edit rc.conf, and got dbus and hal in the start up array. I'm installing firefox on the arch desktop now.
    Thanks for everyone who helped!!

  • Removed Nouveau, installed Nvidia, black login screen

    Hi there!
Seems like I was just here yesterday...  But seriously, it's coming together.
Today I hooked up my second monitor and tried to get the "one big monitor" effect with noveau, but it wasn't recognizing my setup.  I've had success with installing proprietary nvidia stuff before, so I did the
    "# pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils"
after removing "nouveau-dri" and the "libgl" business.   I did all that from the bash login screen (which I'd like to keep as the first screen, instead of booting directly into GUI/DE).  After I rebooted, like the guide says to do, the bootloader went through fine, but then sat at a black screen.  After a couple of hard reboots I tried to just type root, password, and kdm, even though I couldn't see anything on the screen.  That worked to get me into the DE.  Problem is, that sucks and I have no idea how to get my bash login screen back, or what I did to lose it.  Anyone know where to look or what to do?  I've not found any info on the forum, or via google... Thank you once again!

My video card is an Nvidia GEForce 9400 GT.  There are no "EE" errors in the Xorg.0.log, a couple of fails, to do with APCI, and nothing in the errors.log or daemon.log (whether or not I should look in those for this issue, I'm still learning.  I did indeed run "nvidia-xconfig" as root.  Not sure what I'm missing.  It does now recognize both monitors after I blindly root login and launch kdm, but ya know... Below is the var/log/xorg.0.log in case this means anything to anyone out there... I'm thinking about doing a fresh install now that I know a few more things.
I installed the entire kdm-meta package and I only really want to install a terminal and do the rest of it that way, if possible.  If it's any pennance for my blatant naievete, I am having fun learning from these mistakes!  Thanks for the input non-noobs!
    Cheers!

  • ITS Login screen behavior different on 2 clustered servers(BBP)-config same

We have a production server(s) for Standalone ITS 6.2 (BBP) with 2 hosts and this is load-balanced and clustered.
The templates for (BBP) bbpstart and bbpglobal for the affected instance are identical on both physical servers.
The services on both the servers are also identical. But yet, Login behaviour on the 2 servers are different.
    The servers are :-
Prd:    (Instance) WEP     on server it03 and it04  port 82
    URL: http://it03:82/scripts/wgate/bbpstart/!
    or URL:
    http://it04:82/scripts/wgate/bbpstart/!
    Production cluster URL - http://clusterits20:82/scripts/wgate/bbpstart/!
The problem is as follows :-
'The basic issue is that the users have to click on the 'enter' button on the BBP login screen (for server it04) main BBP screen, (hitting/pressing 'Enter' button doesnt work).
But on server IT03 users can just press enter on the login screen on their keyboards for IT03 (server it03) to login !  ..... so depending on which server they connected to within the cluster address they would have to press or click  buttons etc to get past the BBP login screen.'
The templates for bbpstart and bbpglobal for the are identical on both physical servers.
The services on both the servers are also identical.
Please advice on how to solve this issue.
    Thanks and regards

    Hello Avinash,
Did you check the template bbpglobal/99/login.html?  That is the actual file being used for the bbpstart service logon screen.  The login.html should contain a function for login using the enter (function loginOnEnter(theEvent)).  Maybe this is missing from your it04 server?
I would recommend publishing the bbpglobal Internet Service to your it04 server again.

The iPhone has been restored to factory settings, and then accidentally restored with the wrong backup - a backup of a phone with a different, and unknown, and inexplicable access code, and now the phone is locked.
It needs to be clarified if the iPhone is now SIM locked or passcode locked. For each there is separate resolution.
The sim card has no PIN, so it cannot receive calls.
SIM card PIN has to be obtained from the Carrier, explaining the position.

  • Server freezes at login screen

We had to reinstall and rebuild our Snow Leopard XServes from scratch over this past spring due to open directory problems. At this point, both servers are running okay, but one of them will not make it past the login screen unless it's in Safe Boot mode. We've run a pate of diagnostics on this server but they all give it a clean bill of health and, since it was recently rebuilt, I con't think of any third party extensions that might be tripping it up in such a way. I'm hesitant to do a lot of heavy user creation and configuration until we can get it to boot normally. What might be causing this?
    Chris

I rebooted the server normally to catch the hang in the server logs and found this section, spanning from the appearance of the login window, to the spinning beachball and subsequent recognition of a reboot into Safe Mode (boldface added):

Following the advice I recieved from a different issue, pertaining to the OS continually trying to respawn failed launch agents and daemons (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20068791-263.html), I'm downloading the 10.6.8 server Combo Update and will attempt to patch whatever issues can be patched with this. Once applied I'll check the logs again if the problem persists. Does it sound like I'm looking in the right place?
