Logon failed when connecting to Crystal Reports XI

Hello
Is there anyone who can help me on the above?  Well here is the problem am facing for couple of days and am trying all the R&D but in vein.
Am trying to connect Crystal Reports XI but am getting logon error when making a connection to the database.  The datasource used is OLE DB and throws an error "Logon failed.Details:IM006:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed"
How do I resolved this?
Regards
Caiveru

Hey Cauvery,
Just check whether ther required database drivers are installed properly, where the SQL might be your database.
Try with other type of  connection and check .
As some database's wont allow specific type of connections.
Thanks,
Naveen.

2008 method will get database logon failed even set database location and verify database again
then i use 8.5 method and try again for 2008 report. it said field name is unknown for one of formula
then i drag field again for formula and set database location and verify database again
    it said the same error.
then i uninstall 8.5 crytal report software in window 7 deployment machine, and do above again, it said the same error

  • KBase ID 344488: Logon failed when connecting to universe in Crystal Report

My question is related to  [KBase Article ID:344488|http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/KanisaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=344488&sliceId=&dialogID=24618166&stateId=1%200%2024614949]
Article refers to: Crystal Reports XI
    Symptom
When attempting to create a connection to a universe in Crystal Reports, after clicking OK in the Database Expert Query Panel, the following error message appears:  "Logon failed".
The query is not generated. In the Universe folder of Database Expert, the following message appears: "u2026no items found".
I'm running BOE XI and Crystal Report XI R2 with MS SQL Server 2005 using ODBC.
The resolution psoted in the KBase Article ID:344488 does not resolve the issue in my case.  Does anyone have any ideas on what to look at next?

    Hello Donald,
I'll describe the process flow when Crystal Report reports off of a Universe, in hopes the info will help narrow down your issue.
When you create a Crystal Report and open an Universe, it connects to the Enterprise system and uses a Report Server on Enterprise to generate the SQL Statement.   After you create the Query in the Query Panel, and add the Query to the report, the SQL Statement is sent to the Crystal Report Designer.
The Crystal Report Designer makes a local connection to the database and sends the SQL Statement to retrieve data.
You're using ODBC connectivity.  If the defined ODBC isn't identical between the server where the Report Server is running, and the client where the Crystal Report Designer is running, then you'd get the Logon failed error.
Other than checking the drivers, I'd recommend that the ODBC connection on both server and client point to the same database, and allow use of the same database logon credentials.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

    What version of Crystal Reports?
What CR Service Pack are you on?
    What is the database?
How are you connecting to the databse (ODBC, OLE DB, etc.)?

  • Logon failed when connecting to XML data source over HTTP

I am trying to create a report using the standard report creation wizard:
    1) new, standard report
    2) create new connection
    3) xml and web services
    4) xml data source
When using the sample from the SAP site, it works fine:
    http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/downloads/samples/cr/customer_db/customer.xml
I have an HTTP source that generates XML. I have a schema that describes this XML. If I save the XML to a local file it works fine as a data source with the schema. However, when I try to access the same data via HTTP, I get the following error:
    Logon failed.
    Details: Cannot open file
Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: http://localhost:8004/report.xqy?Validate%20XML=0&Use%20WS-Security%20Config%20File=&WS-Security%20File%20Location
However, if I enter that URL in a browser it works fine. And even if I disable security on the HTTP source, it produces the same error.
Does the URL for the HTTP data source have to conform to some specific pattern? For example, must the URL end in .xml?

  • Logon Screen when opening a Crystal Report from Add-on

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem that I've been trying to solve. I have an addon that opens a Crystal Report with the information that the user wants. I tried it in SBO using a SQL db and it worked without problems, but now I've test it in SBO using IBM DB2 db (the client has that db implemented) and the report doesn't open, instead of the report it appears a log in screen asking for the server name, database, user and password.
I've tried every possibility without success, it returns a message saying that my login is not correct, the thing is that all I've written in that login screen is the correct info, even tried many possibilities... and I can't access to the report!
I've searched lots of forums for an answer, but none of them helped me. Can anybody help me with this issue?
    Thank you very much,
    Regards,
    Mariana Mazzero

in case you do sure that is just lose some dll file,I think maybe you can create a install package by using Visual Studio.
you can create a form and put a crysyal object on the form. and use the wizard.
Visual Studio will auto collect all dll you needed.
than you can compare the file list,
or, you can just install the package on the standalone PC.
    It's a stupid solution.
but, I think it is effective. :P

  • Database logon failed when opening report with parameter values in CrystalReportViewer

    Hi,
I designed 2 crystal reports: report A contains parameter fields and report B did not contain any parameter
I can open both reports in development site using CrystalReportViewer control. When I open the reports in testing site,
I can open report B but can't open report A. It display error message "Database logon failed". When I set EnableDatabaseLogonPrompt
to true and try to open the report A again, it shows database connection data which was created on report.
In addition, it is strange that it displays error "Database logon failed" when I click an item in group tree panel of the report B. This indicates that it can load data from database
in testing site but it connect to development database when clicking items in group tree panel
All reports connect to database using Windows Authenication. It use dynamic database connection at runtime

  • Logon failed error : connection is OK in Designer but error in CR and CMC

    Hi,
    BOXI 3.1 SP3 installed
    Crystal Report 2008 SP3 installed.
    Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64 bits
    The data source location is SQL Server 2005 SP3/Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64 bits
I defined a connection (OLEDB secured) and a universe which uses this connection. I export the universe to make it available.
In Designer, everything works fine: i can access the data.
In CR 2008, when i create the connection within Database expoert, i access the universe, select the fields but there is an error message 'logon failed" when i validate the choice.
I have also made a test with an ODBC driver with no success.
I have checked ODBC and MDAC version.
Important to note: from CR, i can define datasource with ODBC/OLEDB driver directly from the SQL Server.
The rror message occurs when i access the universe to access the DB.
I have also made a test by applying CR 2008 SP4 but with no success.
Please someone help me ? give me some suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Marc

  • Report fails to generate on Crystal Reports Server

    Post Author: cmilkosk
    CA Forum: General
    Hello all!
I have a case open with BO on generating a report from a Crystal Reports Server (CRS).  The report works fine when running in Crystal Reports on my PC, but after I send it to the Crystal Reports Server, it fails with a message like:"Failed to open the connection.
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\metrixdb.reportjobserver\~tmp9bc512965895e0.rpt"This error appears to be telling you that it is trying to connect to
the CRS's reportjobserver process and having a problem, but the service is up according to the Central Config Manager. I tried starting and stopping it, but it didn't make a difference.  This happens for different reports sent to the server.  One common thing that I've noticed is that the reports that connect to the CRS's local SQL Server 2005 database are the ones that are failing.  So, my CRS resides on the same host as the SQL Server 2005 database (which also houses the CRS SQL DB).  Interestingly, reports scheduled that connect to a remote SQL Server 2000 database work fine.  It could be the simplest report that I am running off of the CRS/SQL Server 2005 host, and it still fails every time. Tech support so far hasn't been much of a help. They suggested that I upgrade my Crystal Reports software on my PC to R2, but that didn't fix the problem.Has anyone had any trouble like this before?  If so, have you found out what the cause was?I'm beginning to wonder if it is related to SQL Server 2005 or potentially just that it is connecting to a local database.Note - my CRS's software version appears to be 11.5.3.438.  I'm not sure if I am running CRS R1 or R2 (how can you tell?).Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,Chris

  • How do we create a jndi connection in crystal reports XI

how do we create a jndi connection in crystal reports XI when the data soiurce is configured on websphere 6.1

You need to use WLST online. I am not sure what your exact requirements are but one good way of working this is to have a WLST script that deletes all your WL customisations, like connection pools, JMS Servers etc and then creates it. That way you can run the same script repeatedly and it will get everything up to date for you. However you have to remember that everytime you add something new you need to update your delete section. Also your deleting should not fail if the item does not exist. I hope that makes sense!
As to the specifics of WLST examples to do this then check out the WLST examples in CodeShare.
If you are still having issues then post another message.

  • Has anyone Connected a Crystal Report directly to a Microsoft Project file (MPP)?

    Post Author: Brian Morris
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Iu2019m aware I can save Microsoft Project Files (MPP) to an Access Database, Excel document etc. and there are ways to connect to a Microsoft Project Server.
I wanted to know if anyone has managed to connect directly to one though. Currently we use MPPs to report project status and other deliverables, and itu2019s been an annoyance to have to save the project file then export the data over into a new excel document when ever we have changes (since not all users have project or need all the data in the file).
Preferably, a user should be able to save that project file and anyone that has the Crystal report should be able to run the report against the MPP file. In addition to this, it would be extremely helpful in getting a formalized and nicely formatted report when running reports against rational and MMP files, thus giving an alternative from SODA reports in Microsoft word, which doesnu2019t always work well.
    Thanks!

Ok, I answered my own question on the connection issue, but I'm having issues with the predefined fields that enter into the report. The Database Expert shows the correct table names, but when I select them and look at the fields, they are all showing fields that are part of the "Project" table. when I use "Add Command" and use SQL to do a "Select * From TableName" ,where TableName is the name of the respective table, I get the data I'm looking for. Has anyone else run into this error? Is the error on Crystal Reports side or the Data provider's OLE DB driver? Has anyone with a fully patched system encountered the same errors?
Current SetupCrystal Version: 11.0.0.1282CR Professional; Product Type:FullOLE DB Driver: Microsoft Project 10.0 OLE DB Provider
I have pasted my findings below, hopefully other people won't have the same issues I did trying to find this information. if anyone else wants to test and see if they get the same issues I did it would be greatly appreciated.
Connecting a Crystal Report XI to a Microsoft Project File (MPP)
    Prerequisites (as I know them)
    -          Have an installation of Crystal Reports on the machine (a given)
    -          Have Microsoft Project 2000/2003 installed OR  the Microsoft Project OLE DB provider which is installed with Microsoft Project (NOTE: Microsoft 2007 supposedly no longer supports OLE DB and requires an OLAP cube be made or a SOAP connection be used, which I donu2019t deal with personally)
    Creating the connection
    Start Crystal Reports
Click u201CBlank Reportu201D on the start page
    in the u201CDatabase Expertu201D window, under u201CAvailable Data Sourcesu201D, Select u201C+u201D next to u201CCreate New Connectionu201D
    Select the u201C+u201D beside u201COLE DB(ADO)u201D
If a u201COLE DB (ADO)u201D  window does not come up, double click u201CMake New Connectionu201D
In the u201Cprovider:u201D box Select the u201CMicrosoft Project 10.0 OLE DB Provideru201D
The name may be different depending on the version of project you install and the patch you have on the machine
    Select u201CNext >u201D
Under u201CDatabase:u201D copy/paste in the path and project file name
I donu2019t believe the other fields u201CData Source:u201D, u201CUser ID:u201D, or u201CPasswordu201D need to be filled out, and in fact, I got an error when entering in data into them
    Example: u201CC:\Projects\Project Name\Current Schedule.mppu201D
    Select u201CNext >u201D
In the Advaned information window, verify the project Name is the path of the project.
I have not found the use of u201CEnterprise Modeu201D (default: 0), u201CAlways Loadu201D (default: 0), u201COLE DB Servicesu201D(default: -5), or u201CEnterprise RUID Listu201D (default: blank), removing them or changing them did cause errors though.
    Click u201CFinishu201D
Adding in Tables and extracting data
You now have a connection to the project File you listed. There is an issue Iu2019ve found though that all the tables you see listed are filling their fields in from the u201CProjectu201D Table, rather then their respective tables (Example: u201CAssignmentsu201D is pointing at u201CProjectu201D rather then the obvious connection u201CAssignmentsu201D). You can, however, use the u201CAdd Commandu201D and select the table you want with just a little SQL code:
    Select *
    From Assignments
After creating the command, highlight it and hit u201CF2u201D. You should be able to edit the name and change it from u201CCommandu201D to something more meaningful. At the current time Iu2019m unsure if the issue with the default tables all pointing toward the project table is an error on the provider side or Crystal Reports end, and if one of the new patches will fix it. I will update this document accordingly when I have more information and do more testing. I will note however, there is no way to change which table these preset fields point to.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Connecting to crystal report via JDBC

    Hi,
I am new to Crystal Reports. I want to connect to MSSQL Database using JDBC drivers. I was wondering if there is a way I can use JDBC drivers for connection with Crystal Reports when designing the report ?
    Thanks
    Sherif

    Hi Sheriff,
I am not aware of CR 9 as it is out of support. But in CRXIR2 and CR2008 you can simply do it while creating new report. In the wizard you just need to select JDBC(JNDI) option under Create new connection.
After that just specify the connection url and JDBC class name.
I would suggest you to upgrade your product to CR2008 as it has excellent new features which would realy help you with the same.

  • How do I connect from Crystal Report version XI to Oracle 10G express?

I'm new to oracle 10G express and I'm developing an application that needs reports to preview some data from oracle tables.
The oracle database is installed on the server and I installed the client on my machine. I need to use the crystal report 11 to report the output. Thus, I designed a crystal report that should simply read a table on oracle and though I need to be able to connect to the oracle 10G Express Edition database. I tried to create a connection from the crystal report using the Database Expert >> Create New Connection >> Oracle Server and I include the following parameters.:
    - Service: host:1521/XE
    - Username: username
    - Password: password
Then when I tried to connect the crystal report crashes always.
Is there any way to create a connection to the Oracle Database 10G express from Crystal Report 11?
    Please advise...

    Thank you bala,
First, How I should start the Listener on the database server?
    Listener.ora content:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    +(SID_LIST =+
    +(SID_DESC =+
    +(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)+
    +(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)+
    +(PROGRAM = extproc)+
    +)+
    +(SID_DESC =+
    +(SID_NAME = CLRExtProc)+
    +(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)+
    +(PROGRAM = extproc)+
    +)+
    +)+
    LISTENER =
    +(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Daoud-PC)(PORT = 1521))+
    +)+
    +)+
    DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)
How to configure the tnsnames.ora on the client side?
    tnsnames.ora content:
    XE =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Daoud-PC)(PORT = 1521))+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SERVER = DEDICATED)+
    +(SERVICE_NAME = XE)+
    +)+
    +)+
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS_LIST =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))+
    +)+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SID = PLSExtProc)+
    +(PRESENTATION = RO)+
    +)+
    +)+
    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS_LIST =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))+
    +)+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SID = CLRExtProc)+
    +(PRESENTATION = RO)+
    +)+
    +)+
Now I`m trying to initialize this on one machine (database & client) and so the crystal report will be on the same machine where the database exist; Additionally, this machine has OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and include the Oracle 10g Express Database & Oracle 10g Express Client software.
Please check the files content I included above and give me the way on how to establish a connection from the crystal report to the database where both are installed on the same machine.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Connection between Crystal Report and SAP ECC

Hi. can you help me please.
I'm testing the connection between Crystal Report and SAP ECC. I tried using the tables,
but by making the links between foreign keys does not bring data. The other way I tried was using an ABAP function module,
    but using this way, Crystal will only works like a Presentation Layer because all the work was did it in ABAP;
besides that shows the limitation that I can not pass as input a table.
what is the best practice for reporting on SAP ECC using Crystal Report?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Crystal Reports is able to leverage tables, ABAP functions, SAP query and InfoSets.
what is the issue when using the tables ?
