Lombard PowerUP problems (Similar to everyone else)
Hello All,
I just bought a Lombard 400mhz, and I'm facing some issues:
Some facts:
1) Battery is dead. Pushing the battery button results in a flashing single led.
2) Measured the PRAM battery, and it seems holding charge: 6v and 3v depending on the wires
3) Boots normally when I disconect/reconect the power cord.
4) I'm sure it's not the power jack loose connection. I opened the powerbook yesterday and even include "more solder" on the joints.
5) When I try to "restart" the machine, it turns off, and when tries to boot (apple sound + drive spinning), it goes all off again.
6) After that, the only way to turn it on is: back triangle button reset or disconect/reconect the power cord
Because of all that, I'm unable to install tiger on it. XPostFacto needs to store some Open Firmware configurations right?
It's incredible how Apple did a machine with so many issues when running with a dead battery. It's not possible to just remove it?

You can easily remove the main battery and optical drive. There is a lever for each item on the front edge of the body of the 'book that swings out towards you starting at the corners. They are called the expansion bay release levers.

If you have to push the power manager reset button on the back panel to get started, you either have failed backside L2 cache or a failing CPU or a problem on the logic board.
Download Newer Gauge Pro to check the L2 backside cache:

You can also go to the Apple menu > Apple System Profiler and see if it reports the L2 cache. Cold starting (not a restart) may also throw up a dialog box stating there is a problem with cache memory or RAM.

Calendar sync problem - opposite of everyone else!!!
Hello everyone.
I have recently upgraded my device and my DM. I know have a problem that seems to be the exact opposite of the one everyone has...!
Since upgrading my DM to 6.1.0.36, when I sync with Outlook it transfers to Outlook all the appointments I have in the mobile associated with my personal account (btw: small office, only BIS). As on the device I have two emails (work and personal), I was more than happy to keep my personal calendar items out of the exchange calendar...! Now they all go in with the work items and they aren't even marked with a different colour! Obiously I checked the CICAL settings, and the main account is the work email, as it always was.
Since the first 8110, through the 8300, 9800, and now the 9900, it has always been like I described, and now something has changed...!!!
Can someone help me please???

LI have the same issue. The e-mail address selected for CICAL or, for that matter, Contact List (SYNC) which are the "alternate" calendars, are seemingly ignored during the sync and, sync the "standard" calendar. Even when I designate a secondary folder on the OUTLOOK side to match up to the alternate calendar, the sync wants to take the "standard" calendar from OUTLOOK.
TORCH 9850 on VZWs most current software release, OUTLOOK 2003, all updates applied, and the Desktop Manager noted above. btw, My "alternate" e-mail & contact book are gmail's.
I look forward to a solution. -
Ipod problem, just like everyone else!
If there is a fix to this frozen button issue, can someone please fill me in...?!?! My ipod is in mint condition, and yet one day I went to use it and the click wheel was frozen. The lock works but that's it! This is the second time this has happened, and it leaves me stranded for about 2 months before it starts working again. It seems to have happened when I left it charging to full capacity. I know this is a common issue, as every person I seem to come across has had freezing issues with their ipod.
Nothing works so far to correct this issue, the 5 steps, resetting, formatting, restoring, Nothing!
If somebody has the answer please post it for the entire world to see, perhaps on apple or itunes homepage.
(Oh, along with this I've NEVER downloaded illegal music and therefore I have over $200 worth of itunes music I can no longer use on my waste of an ipod.)

The Same Problem EVERYONE else is having!
Well, this will be no surprise: my PC won't recongnize the iPod through the USB, nor will iTunes or the Updater. Yada, yada, yada...it's all the same problems that everyone else has been complaining about and I've tried all of the solutions that everyone has also mentioned. Nothing works.
The closest I came to actually getting the iPod formatted was when the Updater allowed me to click on the "restore" button. It seemed like it was doing something and then BAM! The "Can't mount iPod" error comes up!
Why is this thing so "buggy" with a PC? Does anyone have any solid solutions? Or do you just keep playing with it and praying that it will somehow or other work at some point?Well I've tried PRETTY MUCH all of the suggested solutions. I really don't feel like going out and buying another SCI card for my laptop only to find out it doesn't fix the problem. Yes, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop, running XP and connecting the iPod through the USB port on the SCI card (it's a dual card, which also has a firewire port).
I also don't feel like going through the hassle of buying a firewire cable only to find out that it doesn't fix anything either.
I spent a good hour on the phone with Apple tech support and got nowhere. She had me uninstalling, re-installing, re-booting, running msconfig, turning off Norton, setting the iPod in "disk mode", uninstalling and reinstalling some more, etc. and in the end nothing made a difference!
I can get the Updater to recognize the iPod, but when I click the "restore" button I keep getting that "can't mount iPod" error. (And I know for a fact that Windows is installed on the C Drive, so that can't be the problem.)
This is so frustrating. The tech support lady said if the last thing didn't work (which it didn't) then to call them back and they would continue to try and figure out how to solve the problem.
It really shouldn't be this complicated, should it? Why don't they make an iPod that is pre-formatted for use with a PC?? -
My 4S will get on internet but will not connect to any site including the App store or I tunes. If I cut Wifi off and go thru Verizon network then it is just fine. It is very slow loading tho. Everyone else in my house connects just fine.

I can understand how connecting to Wi-Fi is very important to maintain better control of your GB. I appreciate all the troubleshooting you have already tried to get this issue corrected. Does your 4s have the most current software? You can check this in setttings: Settings>General>Software Update. Keep us posted. We are here to help.

I give up Mainstage is useless how does everyone else feel?
I'm a working musician and have been using Logic for over 3 years for live performance. Imagine the joy I had last September when I learned that Mainstage was available. I was the first in my town to purchase the upgrade to Logic 8, I quickly installed it, read the manual, did some configuring hoping that mainstage would be the answer I had been waiting for for years.
Well initially I was impressed. There were some problems but I knew Apple would be right on them and a solution would be at hand shortly.
I upgraded to Leopard, had more problems, downloaded all the updates, prokits, etc. etc. had more problems! Called Support, subscribed to all the boards......yada yada yada
Took my Macbook Pro into my dealer got it checked, added more ram, even added a larger internal drive to fit all of Logic 8 on. Bought a cooling desk. Wrote and Apple Script, +*nothing helped*+
It just seemed to get worse
Finally yesterday I had a spare 5 hours so I stripped Leopard off reinstalled Tiger, Logic Studio and the rest of my stuff from scratch believing that the problem was Leopard related, even that didn't work. Mainstage still clicked, popped, puked ..................... pick an adjective.
I've been a loyal Apple customer since 1980 (I had an Apple II Plus) I currently own 3 Macs. I am really disappointed in the support this product has seen from Apple. The loss of faith in this product is apparent by the drop off in messages on all the discussion boards and this is a dangerous thing to a company I believed put it's customers first.
I have decided to give up on Mainstage I will go back to using my synths to play gigs. I feel I have come to the table to try and get Mainstage running unfortunately Apple hasn't

I have voiced my opinion about MainStage since the beginning, thinking that maybe Apple or people who have access to the MainStage developers, would read the posts here and try and get some of these issues resolved.
MainStage is a great program conceptually. Compared to a lot of similar hosting programs out there, it has some nice implementation ideas such as sounds gradually fading out during patch changes so that reverb tails aren't cut off, extensive keyboard splits / layers, etc. and a pretty cool on screen layout for nice feedback during a live gig. There are some things that I wish Apple would have put in the program, like the ability to control external midi hardware.
However, in spite of these great ideas and thoughts, the developers, in my opinion, didn't make sure the program was rock solid as it should be for a live application. If this were a program that you could use and be able to do retakes, make corrections along the way, etc., then these bugs would be accounted for by the user and dealt with. But for a live app, when you are playing in the middle of a song, where you only get one chance to make it right, and the application locks, pops, clicks, etc. in a sporadic and unpredictable fashion, it is absolutely unacceptable.
I agree, most of the people who posted here back in the beginning have stopped because it didn't seem to make any difference. And there is usually a few users who have perfect systems. I have tried various ways to eliminate the unpredictable nature of MainStage but no such luck. Even last night at rehearsal, everthing seemed to be going along fine through the four first songs. I only had about 7 or 8 patches total and my memory usage was at about 30%. Then I change patches so we can start working on song #5. For this song I use a Native Instruments B4 patch (which also was one of two patches used in the previous song I just played). I have used this instrument many times and it has performed very well for the most part except for the occasional CPU spikes. I got about 2/3 of the way through the song and then noticed something ... I had no more sound coming from my instrument. I looked over at my MacBook and to my dismay, it was totally locked up. Needless to say, I wasn't able to finish the song because I had to reboot my machine. I know others may chime in here and ask if I had this configured or that ... and yes I have done all of these ad naseum ... this machine is soley devoted to my music rig, so its not like I am using it for games, word processing and everthing else. The bottom line is, this is another example of how quality control for this app and maybe Leopard in general has gone out the window.
I really like MainStage, I have invested a lot of time setting things up to replace my Logic live rig and have tried to hang in there hoping help would be on the way. I am not even asking for the ability to control external midi equipment (though that would be nice), I would just like to have a dependable piece of software that is made for live use, not just a toy to jam with friends in the Garage. -
Getting support through this site is terrible. Having said that I have been trying to access the store in order to order PS CC and I have been unable to connect. I have an internet connection that works with everyone else. The URL comes up in the browse window and the address simply hangs. This has been going on for the past three hours.

My iphone4 suddenly shut down.I pluged into a charger it started vibration and got heat up in off mood. I also checked it to genius he said that its battery is ok but problem is some thing else. It is still in off mod. what i have to do?
I am having a similar odd issue. First of all this summer i took my iphone 4 to apple because my screen had quit. I could hear calls and texts coming thru but screen was unresponsive. I was a month out of warranty so the nice fella at apple gave me a 30 day warranty, then replaced my handset with a refurb. Saturday night at dinner i was on my phine and it died. I plugged it in thinking nothing of it and went to bed. When i wooe up after the charger had been on all night all i had was the black screen with the battery (red) and lightning bolt, meaning it knew it plugged in but still did nothing. So off to apple i go. They said i was out of warranty and the problem (never said what problem) would cost 170 bucks to fix. So i went and upgraded to the iphone 5 ( figured if i'm spending that anyways may as well be on a new phone). When I got home i tinkered with the old one with all the online suggestions i could find. (Cleaning ports, hard reset, putting into recovery mode, and checking indicators for water damage which there was none). Still only saw the battery symbol. I left it alone figuring i can sell off cheap and someone else can repair. Last night for kicks i plugged it in again and it came to life! It is in recovery mode (needs to be hooked to itunes to regain functionality) but showed 100% battery charge. I went to show my bf and realized an issue. If its not plugged into the wall adaptor, it wont turn on. I figured then that if i can get it plugged in and pull it up on itunes maybe it would be fine. When plugged into the computer it wont hold enough power. It thrns on shows the apple for 30 seconds, shuts off. My ending conclusion on my own is that it needs a new battery in order to be revived. Anyone think this sounds like a reasonable conclusion? Or will i be wasting money? If i can get it restored to functional, cheaply i can give to my bf (his pos lg phone is almost toast) or sell it.

Workflow not sending email to first reviewer but sends to everyone else
I have a criteria workflow that is working fine except for one small problem. The first person in the workflow does not get notified. If they login and approve, the content continues through the workflow and everyone else is notified. I can even reject it all the way back to the original contributor, and then that contributor sends it on to that first person in the workflow and then they get an email. It's just that initial email when the workflow kicks off doesn't go out.
Nothing showing up in our ECM error logs or email logs. If you look at the workflow info, it says that first person was notified. I've also tried changing who that first person is and what they can/have to do and it makes no difference.
Any suggestions?Is the first person in the Entry Step or the second step of the workflow?

My phone was working at 8:00 AM this morning and now it only gets 1x coverage and I cannot make any calls or texts and I have no internet service. Everyone else has full coverage that has Verizon and I want to know why. I already reset my network settings.
Why would you think a problem with Verizon when you have already stated everyone else with Verizon has full coverage?
Have you updated your iPhone to the new iOS 8/8.0.1/8.0.2??? Apple has been having problems with cellular connectivity with the new OS and is currently working on the 3rd update to iOS 8 in less than a month. Hopefully this will be pushed out soon and will fix many of the problems people have been having. -
I send out about 40 text messages every week but when someone responds to me it goes to everyone else that I sent message to I never had this problem sending out group text before I got Iphone I called Verizon but they were not very helpful. How do I fix this very frustrating for my friends and me.
Tomatoe, I've had this issue with my device and understand how frustrating it is when the message that is meant for you is seen by others. YOU have the option to turn your group texting off but the person sending the message reply back to you will need to turn their group texting off so that it does not go to everyone. I will list the steps to turn your group texting off but I recommend having the person who is sending you a reply to turn their off.
1) Click Settings
2) Click Messaging
3) Slide the Bar from on/off for Group Texting

Like everyone else here I am having search issues with youtube on apple tv. Any latest updates?
My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

IChat stays online, but to everyone else it's offline.
My girlfriend is having a problem using iChat. She has a dlink router WBR-2310. I set everything up for her, and she is able to connect fine, but when she is online with iChat, she will randomly SHOW that she was "disconnected" on everyone else’s buddy list (friends and my list) but she is still on and able to see all her buddies. She doesn’t see any indication that she is "offline" to everyone else, and cannot receive any IM's. The OS X firewall is turned off, and I’m not sure if it is the router. I am not able to go to her place at the moment and fix it (in another state) so I am trying to diagnose this with what little information I have. I have visited the dlink site for information…but they had none that I could find.
Hmmm...first off, go into Mail, then Preferences, then accounts, and there you should be able to set up a gmail account. Oh, I found something. It may work for you. go to

Yes. Not that my iPad gets disconnected, it actually might be causing everyone else to disconnect from the router, including itself.
Whenever I connect my router to this wifi at work or home at periodic intervals it actually causes everyone, including wifi and 'hard-line' users to receive no connection to the local network and internet.
When the iPad stops connecting to the wifi, the problem stops for the duration it stays off, Tested it at durations of no iPad connection of 4 hours with no problems. And when connected it causes everyone on the network to drop (for all users) every 5-15 minutes.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

I have recently gotten a MacBook Pro (through my highschool so it is monitored by them) and ever since I brought it home it's been having wifi connection problems. It says the wifi is working fine, it shows full bars, but when I try to connect to the Internet it acts like there is only one bar or no bars. Although every one and a while I can get a great connection but it lasts for about 10 minutes. This I do not get because the wifi works perfectly fine for everyone else in the house and for our phones too. So if anyone else could help me I would be soo happy. Thanks.
I have had the same issue and searched the forums and found nothing that helped. I contacted apple support and this is what they told me to do:
First we’ll do the SMC reset
1.) Shut down the Mac and connect to power source.
2.) Unplug external devices, flash drives, external monitors, external HD (Keep the Mac plugged into power source)
3.) Hold down “Shift” + “Control” + “Option” (On the left side of the keyboard) + Power key for 30 seconds.
*The Mac should remain powered off during the reset, the LED on the MagSafe Adapter may change colors.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.
Awesome, now let’s reset the NVRAM
1.) Locate these keys “Command”, “Option, “P” & “R”
2.) Power on your Mac
3.) Immediately press and hold all 4 keys “Command” “Option” “P” “R”
4.) Listen for 2 boot chimes and then release.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.
