Lookandfeel in forms 9i

Is that possible create my own look and feel to Forms 9i, or change oracle default look and feel?

Currently there are only the Oracle Look and Feel and the Default look and feel (windows style).
You can change color schemas for the Oracle Look and Feel.
You can't create your own Look and Feel, but you can create your own types of objects with other looks using the PJC fuctionality.
For example check out the OW Paper on the Java Spot light to see how to create rectangular buttons.

  • Icons are not visible when the form is run

    I develop a form with only a push button. I developed form using oracle 10DS. I have saved my form in application server. To see an icon in my button, i did the following things:
    1. In application server i made a jar named test.jar. It consists of just two gif images.
    2. I copied this jar in application server's \forms90\java directory
    3. I configured formsweb.cfg file as the following.
    4. my \form90\java\oracle\forms\registry\registry.dat is as the following.
    whenever i run form i can not see icon but in client's oracle jar cache jar is downloaded.

    I tried many times. But could not be successful. Then I just kept my icons in
    \forms90\java directory without making jar. In my form, icon file name is the icon name without extension. Here, i can see my icon in button. but if i replace an icon
    without changing the name of the icon, then i always see the old icon. The new icon, i can not see.
    Please, help me with only Oracle 10g AS how i can see icon in button. Let's assume, there is not oracle 10g DS (any development tool) in the machine where the form is run.
    Please, guide me clearly step by step so that i might be successful.
    Thanks.
    TKARIM

    Thanks Bernard,
    It works fine with JInitiator but not working with
    the JPI. For JPI what settings I need to do ??hi TKARIM and Bernard, i am having similar problem even with the Bernard's recommended setup. could you post the webutiljini.htm (i presume you are using config=test) ?
    i am actually using jinitiator 1.3.1.28 with Oracle HTTP Server of OAS 10gR2) calling Forms Server 6i (f60cgi). After setting up according to Bernard's recommended setup steps, the java console showed that it loaded the icon jar file when it could not read the form, but it skipped the loading of the icon jar file once it read and started the form. How do we specify in the form to pick up the icon from the jar file instead from a directory ? Or do we need to specify ? Any ideas ?
    Thx and Regards

  • Oracle forms 10g (win Xp middle tier IE 8             Win 7- IE 8 client)

    forms services 10.1.2.0.2
    Database 11gR2 also on Win Xp pro SP3
    Hi
    I have a problem with java and Jinitiator and my understanding of what is / should be happening.
    In the file forms/server/formsweb.cfg see below. I can alter the parameter
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    ###baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm
    between the two alternatives. As it stands as shown the IE8 on the middle tier and on the database PC both work as near correctly as i can tell. On the Win 7 client IE 8 however crashes. switch it to the other way around and the
    win 7 works and the win xp on the database server stops with frm-92095 error version number too low. while on the middle tier Xp PC a blank doucument is displayed.
    How can i have both working at the same time please. I you need more information i will happily supply it.

    You have a mixture of problems here.
    1. Oracle Jinitiator is not supported for use on Windows 7
    2. JRE 1.7 is not supported for use with any version of Forms on any platform. Be sure you do not have this version installed.
    3. JRE 1.6 is not supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, however is supported with 10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622) and only with IE 8
    4. In order to use Win 7 with Forms 10 in a certified and supported manner, you must use 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622).
    In short, my recommendation would be the following:
    o Patch to 10.1.2.3 (assuming you have access to MyOracleSupport)
    o Don't bother trying to use Oracle Jinitiator as it is old and has been desupported for a long time.
    o Uninstall any instances of Jinitiator as it can cause conflicts with other JRE installations.
    o Uninstall all instances of JRE 1.7. Reconfig your formsweb.cfg to use the JRE (Java Plugin) 1.6.0

    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms

    # string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
    # USER PARAMETERS

    # may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string

  • WebUtil:  oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found

    Hi. This is my first attempt using WebUtil. The following code is in my When-New-Form-Instance trigger:
    client_host('N:\TTMS\ITS\vbasic\compiled\MenuUpdate.exe');
    This is the error I receive:

    I've included my formsweb.cfg below for your reference. Note that the application is using the [ttmsmenu] configuration.
    Thanks in advance for your help with this problem.

    Dumb dumb dumb.
    I was running this form out of Form Builder 10g. At some point I changed the Application Server URL (Edit => Preferences => Runtime menus) from:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=ttmsmenu
    to:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?
    So my customized configuration with all the WebUtil references was not being referenced and I was getting the error.

    Hi. I'm attempting to call my first Web form, but I'm getting this error:
    URL:
    http://springfield01:7777/forms/frmservlet?config=ttmsmenu
    ERROR:
    500 Internal Server Error
    Forms Servlet Error.
    Missing or invalid value for baseHTML parameter.
    Please check the servlet configuration to make sure this value specifies a valid file.
    My FormsWeb.Cfg file is posted below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    in formweb.cfg file
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    workingDirector : workingDirectory= blank. but C:\OraMid\forms\salerpt-Forms right now

    ##form=test.fmx
    ## i moved bottom section of form section in here and before
    ##line as Forms runtime argument: database connection details
    comment two line

Every time I try testing the form services using http://10.0.4.114:7778/forms/frmservlet it brings out the errorFRM-92101- There is a failure in the form server during startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration. Please look into the web server log file for detail
    Right now, I'm a bit lost. Can anyone please tell me if there is some parameter I have to set, or something I should do to make it work?
    Thanks a lot

    Fabian,
    I did not make changes to those files. The forms services are working on another server with Red hat Rel 4 and 3 . What I did is to configure a new server with Red Hat Rel 5 , took the backup of all the forms binaries and the HOME and restore on the new server. I did the same thing for a server running rel 4 and it has no issue:
    The content of the files are as below:
    DEFAULT.ENV*
    # $Id: default.env 26-apr-2005.16:59:08 sujain Exp $
    # default.env - default Forms environment file, Solaris version
    # This file is used to set the Forms runtime environment parameters.
    # If a parameter is not defined here, the value used will be that defined
    # in the environment in which the servlet engine (OC4J or JServ) was started.
    # NOTES
    # 1/ The Forms installation process should replace all occurrences of
    # <percent>FORMS_ORACLE_HOME<percent> with the correct ORACLE_HOME
    # setting, and all occurrences of <percent>O_JDK_HOME<percent> with
    # the location of the JDK (usually $ORACLE_HOME/jdk).
    # Please make these changes manually if not.
    # 2/ Some of the variables below may need to be changed to suite your needs.
    # Please refer to the Forms documentation for details.

    # - Reports needs the path for libjava.so
    # (.../jre/lib/sparc)
    # - Forms needs two paths to the jre, for libjvm.so and libhpi.so
    # - In JDK 1.4.1 the location of libjvm.so is lib/sparc (there is no
    # classic directory) so we do not include the .../classic directory
    # below. There are other versions of libjvm.so (in directories server,

  • Forms Runtime Diagnostics assistance plz

    "Forms Diagnostics Techniques" p 82, suggests the system administrator should provide an alternate HTML file with FRD switched on and redirect users to this alternate file.
    My question is since this is the FORMSWEB.CFG file, how do you accomplish this? It appears to us, you need a duplicate apache instance, etc. to get this done. Can someone please clarify?
    thanks,
    r.b.

    That guide was written before the servlet architecure which uses the formsweb.cfg was in widespread use.
    All you need to do is to make sure that your otherparams= value in the formsweb.cfg includes record=%record% entry
    and then to switch on FRD you can just add record=collect onto the URL (or hardcode it as a config parameter)
    e.g.
    [app_with_frd]
    lookAndFeel=generic
    form=appform.fmx
    record=collect

  • SUN jre 1.6.0_04 under Forms 10.1.2.3 and IE7

    Hello,
    I get nuts about the SUN jre configuration in relation with IE7 (client side) and running under the Application Server 10.1.2.3 (server side).
    My problem is that I want to use JRE 1.6.0_04 on IE7 for Oracle Forms at the client side. On the test client is also installed: JRE 1.6.0_05 and JRE 1.6.0_07.
    Here is my formsweb.cfg configuration to it:
    [testapp]
    width=1024
    height=768
    separateFrame=True
    lookandfeel=Generic
    form=test.fmx
    otherparams=term=X:\as1012\forms\fmrpcwebd.res
    WebUtilArchive=/forms/webutil/frmwebutil.jar,/forms/webutil/webutil.jar,/forms/webutil/jacob.jar
    WebUtilLogging=off
    WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
    WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
    WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
    WebUtilTrustInternal=true
    WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
    baseHTMLjinitiator=X:\as1012\forms\webutil\server\webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=X:\as1012\forms\webutil\server\webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTML=X:\as1012\forms\webutil\server\webutilbase.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
    archive=frmall.jar,jacob.jar,webutil.jar
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    jpi_download_page=http://java.sun.com
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0004-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_codebase=http://server:7777/forms/webutil/jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe

    jpi_download_page=http://server:7777/forms/webutil/jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe
    IE=native
    I tried it under Firefox 3.0 where the version JRE 1.6.0_07 is installed. With the upper showed configuration it didn't worked. Only if I change this entry jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_07.
    Result: Firefox works correct.
    But the IE always starts the application with the SUN client: JRE 1.6.0_07
    I don't know what to do? I also changed the registry entry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy]
    and put this value in:
    "EnableSecureStaticVersioning"=dword:00000000
    Maybe somebody else knows what to do?
    Thanks ahead
    tarnhold

    What I noticed earlier this year was
    you can force Forms to use JRE 1.5 even though you have JRE 1.6 installed, but it will always pick the newest patch installed.
    So, if you want to use JRE 1.5 and have JRE 1.5.06 and 1.5.12 installed, the only way to use 1.5.06 is to uninstall 1.5.12
    But, if you read note 14 on the vertification matrix, newer patches of a certified major version, are also supported :)

  • Forms 10G – Replacing Oracle Logo in Menu Bar

    Hello:
    Forms 10G – Replacing Oracle Logo in Menu Bar
    We use “lookAndFeel=oracle” which gives Oracle Logo in the Manu Bar at top right corner.
    What is the simplest way to replace this with our own logo?

    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms

    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path

    I have configured the Oracle 10gDS on WindowsXP Professional to work with Oracle 9i Database. When I am executing a form instead of opening in a seperate Browser window, it is opening in the same browser windows. What are all the requisite changes I should make in formsweb.cfg.
    Help is very much appreciated.

    Dear Tony and Tomas,
    my problem is :
    when launching oracle forms it is not displayed in a seperate java applet window.
    here is the formsweb.cfg file of my 10g OC4J server.
    # $Id: formsweb.cfg 15-apr-2005.13:17:30 pkuhn Exp $
    # formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.

    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
