Loop clip till event continues with vid

Hi There
I'm new to Flash. I'm trying to make interactive presentation clip.
What I want is to make the first part of the clip to loop, while discussing the work to be presented, there after by pressing a key on the keyboard, the clip must continue with the rest of the clip. And this must be repeated a few times.
I can get the loop going, but once I add an eventlistener it doesn't want to work. The examples I would on the internet doesn't seem to help solve the problem. Can someone pls show me how to write minimal working script to run loop till keyboard event will continue to play the rest of the clip

those arrays aren't doing anything and orgX and orgY change
values with each for-loop iteration. by the time you rollout of
your movieclip orgX and orgY will be the last value in the
for-loop.

Without seeing any code, it is hard to recommend what to do.
You probably want a State Machine architecture so that you can stay in a certain state of a while loop, then move on to the next step (state) when your condition is met.
You could also use event structures.  You could also use notifiers or occurrences to hold the execution of your loop until the notifier is written to or occurrence executed in a parallel loop of your code.

I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

  • Event Handler with Internal Loops

    Hi...
I'm trying to update a basic program to handle control events more efficiently.  The program needs to perform the following functions on start button press:
    1)  Import data file and parse instrument settings from multiple (X) rows
    2)  Perform loop with case for each row changing input settings, the read test equipment, and store data in new output data file
I've looked at producer/consumer example and the continuous measurement and logging example, but not sure if either (or none) of the following two options is the best way to handle the looping from the file...
    A)  Use events to trigger looping for all input cases within a consumer (I've had a problem with this due to not being able to terminate the loop within the consumer with an abort button)
    B)  Make the consumer only a single data acquisition and load loop inputs as queues and generate output queues to be handled by another parallel logging loop
    Any advice?

    Hi bripple,
Based on what you've described above, a Producer/Consumer Design Pattern (Events) might work. There is a template for this design pattern that ships with LabVIEW which you can access by going to File > New > VI > From Template > Frameworks > Design Patterns. When the user clicks the start button on your front panel, you can queue up a command that will trigger your consumer loop to read the file and loop over each instrument setting. Within that loop, you should be able to queue up additional events corresponding to each instrument setting and reading.
In terms of error handling, you can conditionally stop a loop if you detect an error. If your user decides to push a button on the front panel to stop the entire process, you can use Enqueue Element at Opposite End to put a stop command at the beginning of the queue. When your consumer loop encounters this event, it can flush the queue and do any cleanup it needs to perform.
One additional thing to be cautious of is that queues can only handle one data type. Because of that, you may also want to consider a Queued Message Handler design pattern. This design pattern allows you to send both a command and data along with that command. I think that would be ideally situated for you since you could send a "Read Instrument" command along with the data for its settings. You can access this design pattern from within LabVIEW as well. If you have LabVIEW 2012 or LabVIEW 2013, see these instructions. The things I've said above also hold true for the Queued Message Handler as well.
Let me know if you have any questions or if this is helpful.

  • Problem with checkbox and run the get button event continuously

    Hi all,
I have a checkbox list of 3 sensors. I have used the X-Control (for checkbox) found in the following link for my application https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-30558. I have problems to achieve the following.
Suppose i check Vibration and Strain, I should be able to display both Vibration and Strain data. (I should compare each element of 1d array with the string constant and run the case structure).
I have to run the GET event continuously to display the data.
I have attached the code to the post.
Please can anyone suggest how to go about this.
    thanks in advance

  • How to stop While Loop in Event Structure with same button?

    Hello,
I have a problem. I want to use one control to activate an event in a event structure, and the same control to terminate a while loop in that event.
It is possible to use 2 controls to do this, but I need it to be only one.

    Hello,
I have a bit different problem.
I have a tab control, with several buttons on different pages.
In the current situation, we can talk about two pages, where one page ("Settings") in the Image, has a START and EXIT button, while second page ("Wait") has an EXIT button.
In a while loop, I have event structure, which handles events of the START and EXIT buttons of the Settings page. This is fine. But I also want to control the Exit button of the Wait page.
    The control works like this:
When I click on Start in the Settings page, the front panel shows Wait page and attempts to connect to a datasocket server on the remote computer. If the user wants to stop this process, he can click on Exit on Wait page too. But, this doesn't give any immediate effect. On the even of Start button, the front panel is not locked, so the user can actually click the Exit button on the next page when it's visible. But it's of no immediate effect. Means, what the LabVIEW does is, finishes the execution of event in Start button's click, and while this executes, it doesn't consider the Exit button's refreshed value (shown in Red circle in the block diagram).
Simple question: Is there any way to check the updated (latest/live) value of a control during some event's execution? Or if I write an Event "Value Changed" for the Exit button and pass it to some variable. Is it the only solution?
    Thanks ahead.

  • Continue with my program until the DAQ have one event (NI TB-2705)

    Hello to all,
I am trying to do a program that contains multiple sub VI which I go calling sequentially within one loop. One of this sub VI is a DAQ subVI in which I read data of one NI TB-2705 Daq Card of my PXI system, In this subVI I want start the DAQ with the appropiate parameters, I think that I can be able to do it but I need besides continue with my program, that is continue with the loop which call the rest of my sub VI (the DAQ must to continue running too) until this data are out of one range, them I need stop the loop of my program and return to mi DAQ sub VI and storage the DATA. Is it possible???
If someone have some example about this subject or could help me.

  • Problems closing several loops in a state machine with an event structure

I am having some problems closing three loops running in parallel in a state machine.  I have one loop for an event structure to monitor user controls to change the state.  The other loop is the state machine which will control an actuator, and the third loop is for data aquisition/analysis.  I want to be able to hit the stop button and go to a "shutdown" state where I can home the actuator then close the loops and finally go to the last "shutdown" subdiagriam in the flat sequence structure.  Currently when hitting the stop button it goes into the shutdown state and will end the state machine loop but it appears the other loops are not closing until I hit the stop button again.  Could this be due to using a local variable for the boolean to control the loop conditions? I attached a screenshot of the block diagram.  Any advice would be great!

You have a classic race condition due to overuse of local variables. If the stop event fires in the upper loop, the local variable connected to the loop termination condition has already been read (it is false!). This means that the upper loop will iterate once more and again wait at the event structure for the next event. At this time, the local variable connected to the loop termination is TRUE, but the loop cannot complete until the event fires again, for example if you press the stop button once more.
The correct way is to connect the terminal of the stop button across the right event frame directly to the loop termination terminal. Now it will get the TRUE value correctly once the stop event fires for the first time.
LabVIEW does not execute left to right, execution order is determined by the wiring.
I also agree with the above message that you should rethink and re-architect your code using established coding guidelines.

  • How to use a event structure with a state machine

First, I would like to inform you that I only work on LabView part time, and have much to learn.  Anything I do learn, I usually forget until I need it again, because I only work on it part time.
Using your StopWhileLoopMOD[1].vi, I am trying to put a state machine inside the event structure.
    Related link: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/How-to-stop-while-loop-in-Event-case/td-p/465564/page/2
Here is my application:  on the front panel, the user can select any combination of 7 different tests.  I have created cases to perform each step of each test in the correct order, but if the user presses stop, the tests won't stop because some of the cases have a while loop inside the event structure (like you mentioned is a bad idea).  The user should be able to stop the test, reselect tests to perform, and re-start the tests.
When the start button is pressed for the event structure, I need all the cases to run in the proper order, unless stop is pressed.
In the past I have indexed an array and used that to run the state machine, but it won't stop immediately.
I have sub VIs that are built in while loops because the outputs of the product needs time to stabilize.  The state machine stops and waits up to a certain number of iterations.  If it passes the test, the while loop stops and the next state starts.  If it takes too long, it exits and reports an error.  Maybe I need to just use the state machine and not an event structure?
Is there a good example of an event structure?

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but it sounds like you want to script a bunch of tests and if the user says stop, to immediately stop the current test and abandon the others?  I'm going to assume that you know how to clear the array so that it will abandon the others, so I'm guessing that you are having trouble abandoning the current test?  If this is indeed the case, then the problem is that you are not able to propagate the message from the main VI FP which is the GUI to the sub vi which is the test, where the test may or may not have a GUI (FP visible) of it's own.  Threading was the first thing to come to mind, but this may not be necessary using events.
You can do this by passing a refnum of the stop button to the subVI, where you can then add that wait to the event case structure.
I've attached 2 VIs, mainvi.vi which is just a loop displays the count*2 (number of seconds passed since running) that will call subvi.vi and then check to see if the stop button is pressed.  mainvi.vi is by no means a state engine, it is just a simple loop for demonstration purposes.  subvi.vi just waits 2 seconds and leaves, it is a better structured state engine with an init state to start a poll case to wait for events and an exit state to clean up.  You can modify this any way you wish to get it to do what you want.  You will note that even if subvi.vi is being executed, it will terminate immediately when the stop button is pressed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I have multiple event structures with the same event cases?

    Hello,
I'm doing an application that reproduces the front panel of the HP6675A power supply. To achieve this, I have done a state machine with different states
(initialize, measures, voltage, current, ocp, ov, store, recall, etc). In each state, should have an event structure that catches the events of the buttons, like for example: if the current state is the Voltage mode and the user press the current button the next state will be the Current mode. For this in each state of the state machine should be the same event structure with the same events.
My problem is that the Vi doesn't work properly when I have multiple event structures with the same event cases. There are some possibily to do this, and how? Or is impossible to have multiple events? I have been reading some posts, but I don't find solutions.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

A proper state machine will not need the second loop.  The "Wait For Event" or "Idle" state (whatever you want to call it) is all you really need in order to catch the user button presses.  The setup is almost there.  Maybe add a shift register to keep track of which state to go to in the case of a timeout on the Event Structure.
