Loop through tree node children recursively

Is there an easy way of looping through all the child nodes of a MutableTreeNode and the children of those children if they have any?

With a recursive function (this is depth first):
public void traverse(Node node) {

traverse(child);
}You could also look at depthFirst/breathFirst/preorder/postorderEnumeration() methods on DefaultMutableTreeNode if that's what you actually got.

I am having a problem looping through the DOM tree and inserting the nodes into my table correctly.

now, I need to put the text in the data-tag into a table, but since I dont know how many elements there are how in the world would one be able to insert the correct amount? Is there an Xpath-function that can count the nodes for me? I need some assistance or examples on PLSQL code for this please. I have so far just gone through with a for-loop with a delimiter=xmldom.getLength(mynodes) but that only measures the very first users data-tag, and that leaves the rest kinda in a lotto situation if the db-elements below have more or less data-elements than the first one. In addition its inserted a blank in the field in the table(not good).....

Looping through an objects children

This post is related to another post I have in the forums:

However, I am using an object (note this object can change -

I want to advance this loop so that it "drills" into and
retrieves / reads every child and sub child of each parent etc.....
Is this possible???

Just off the top of my head... I am using an Object type for
"dashboardDP".
Will this work as in your example to loop through and get all
the children?
I notoce you are using a type UIComponent and referencing
UIComponent.children - will this work?
I have train but am getting errors... with the line:
for each (var c: UIComponent in comp.children) {
when trying to access the ".children"

Questions reg Looping through a Node inside a Currently Selected Node.

i have the following context structure in my WD application.
Parent Customer Node A<Cardinality 1.n & Selection 1.n & Singleton True>
 Child Addresses Node B<Cardinality 1.n & Selection 1.n & Singleton True>
 Child Attribute B.City
 Child Attribute A.Name
 Child Attribute A.Age
For the currently selected Parent Customer Element, i want to read the all the addresses this customer has. How to read all the addresses of the customer and loop through it & show it.

Oracle Looping through XML nodes

I have this XML which i m getting as response from a webservice. i need to loop through nodes and i m not sure how to go about it. i have done example using dbms_xmldom but i m literally stuck. this is the xml here i need to loop through

Basically i may just get one UpdatedEnquiry record with multiple EnquiryStatusLog (changes),
I need to get the EnquiryStatusLog nodes and create a insert stmt with the Enquiry Number.
and if theres multiple <UpdatedEnquiry> nodes, i need the same thing done.

It depends on the data type of the dataProvider.
If XML, then myXML.descendants(); will return an xmlList of
all nodes. You could loop over the XMLList and build an
ArrayCollection
If the dataProvider is a collection, then you will need a
recursive function to process the dataProvider.

Need to loop through Recursive node

Hi Everyone,
I am having troubles looping through a node to get a boolean value called "Check".
Basically I am using the TreeNesteedInTable UI. One of the columns I display is the "Check" mentioned above. Basically the user can go through the tree structure and check his/her options. I should then be able to loop through this structure to get all the records "Checked". My application is not doing this.
At the moment I am looping through the top level node - think this is where my probelm is because this node can only be singleton! This means that I then have to loop through the Recusrsive node of this type to get the values as the recusrive is always non-singleton en must therefor contain the elements I am looking for. But, i do not know how tho get access to this node. Is this the correct way of doing it, or how should it be done otherwise?

Expand tree node upto a fix level

Using node_depth you would change

IF state = Ftree.COLLAPSED_NODE and to_numbeR(ftree.get_tree_node_property(htree, node, node_depth)) <= 2 THENThis might not be the most efficient code because it will still loop through every node in the tree, but I think it will work.

How to loop through XML data in a table of XMLType?

My DB version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
I have successfully loaded an xml document into a table using the following two statements:
1) CREATE TABLE mytable2 OF XMLType;
2) INSERT INTO mytable2 VALUES (XMLType(bfilename('IMAGE_FILE_LOC', 'IFTDISB20100330172157C002.xml'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
Now I need to traverse through the various nodes within the xml document and extract values of elements of each node. The question I have is:
How do I loop through a node? A VALID record is enclosed within the <checkItem> </checkItem> tags.

I really need to update my blog to get the example you are looking for posted. I did a quick search on the forums for XMLTable and found a good example at {message:id=4325701}. You will want to use OBJECT_VALUE in the PASSING clause where you need to reference the column in your table.
Note: See the FAQ in the upper right for how to use the tag to wrap objects to retain formatting. Also your XML is missing closing nodes.

Tree and Tree Node Components - Threadinar7

In this Threadinar we will focus on the
"Tree" and "Tree Node" Components
Let us begin our discussion with the Tree Component.
Tree Component
You can drag the Tree component from the Palette's Basic category to the Visual Designer to create a hierarchical tree structure with nodes that can be expanded and collapsed, like the nodes in the Outline window. When the user clicks a node, the row will be highlighted. A tree is often used as a navigation mechanism.
A tree contains Tree Node components, which act like hyperlinks. You can use a Tree Node to navigate to another page by setting its url property. You can also use a Tree Node to submit the current page. If the the Tree Node's action property is bound to an action event handler, selecting the node automatically submits the page. If the Tree Node's actionListener property is bound to an action listener, opening or closing the node automatically submits the page. You set Tree Node properties in the Tree Node Component Properties window.
* If you use this component to navigate between pages of a portlet, do not use the url property to link to a page. Instead, use the Navigation editor to set up your links to pages.
* Events related to tree node selection do not work correctly in portlets because the component uses cookies to pass the selected node id back and forth, and cookies are not correctly handled by the portlet container. You cannot handle tree node selection events in portlet projects.
Initially when you drop a tree on a page, it has one root node labeled Tree and one subnode labeled Tree Node 1. You can add more nodes by dragging them to the tree and dropping them either on the root node to create top level nodes or on existing nodes to create subnodes of those nodes. You can also right-click the Tree or any Tree Node and choose Add Tree Node to add a subnode to the node.
Additionally, you can work with the component in the Outline window, where the component and its child components are available as nodes. You can move a node from level to level easily in the Outline window, so you might want to work there if you are rearranging nodes. You can also add and delete tree nodes in the Outline window, just as in the Visual Designer.
The Tree component has properties that, among other things, enable you change the root node's displayed text, change the appearance of the text, specify if expanding or collapsing a node requires a trip to the server, and specify whether node selection should automatically open or close the tree. To set the Tree's properties, select the Tree component in your page and use the Tree Component Properties window.

Tree Node Component
You can drag the Tree Node component from the Palette's Basic category to a Tree component or another tree node in the Visual Designer to create a node in a hierarchical tree structure, similar to the tree you see in the Outline window.
The tree node is created as a subnode of the node on which you drop it. If you drop the node on the tree component itself, a new node is created as a child of the root node. You can see the hierarchical structure clearly in the Outline window, where you can also easily move nodes around and reparent them.
You can also add a tree node either to a Tree component or to a Tree Node component by right-clicking the component and choosing Add Tree Node.
A Tree Node component by default is a container for an image and can be used to navigate to another page, submit the current page, or simply open or close the node if the node has child nodes.
* If you select the Tree Node component's node Tree Node icon in the Outline window, you can edit its properties in the Tree Node Properties window. You can set things like whether or not the Tree Node is expanded by default, the tooltip for the Tree Node, the label for the tree node, and the Tree Node's identifier in your web application.
* You can use a Tree Node to navigate to another page by setting its url property. You can also use a Tree Node to submit the current page. If the the Tree Node's action property is bound to an action event handler, selecting the node automatically submits the page. If the Tree Node's actionListener property is bound to an action listener, opening or closing the node automatically submits the page.
- Note: If you use this component to navigate between pages of a portlet, do not use the url property to link to a page. Instead, use the Navigation editor to set up your links to pages. In addition, events related to tree node selection do not work correctly in portlets because the component uses cookies to pass the selected node id back and forth, and cookies are not correctly handled by the portlet container. * If you select the image in the Tree Node, you can see that its icon property is set to TREE_DOCUMENT. If you right-click the image on the page and choose Set Image, you can either change the icon to another one or choose your own image in the Image Customizer dialog box. For more information on working with an image in a tree node, see Image component.
- Note: The image used in a tree node works best if it is 16x16 or smaller. Larger images can work, but might appear overlapped in the Visual Designer. You can right-click the component and choose Preview in Browser feature to check the appearance of the images.

One challenge I had experience was to make the tree
always expanded on all pages (I placed my tree menu
in a page fragment so I can just import it in my
pages).Did you solve this problem. It would be interesting to know what you did.
To expand a node you call setExpanded on the node. Here is some code from a tutorial that a coworker of mine is working on.

Using the data you posted in the forum, I copied it a couple of times to give multiple records and used this code to extract the different values that you wanted. I had to wrap it in a <root> node that I called root (to make it valid XML). In my case I wrote the extracted values to a field, but in your case you can do whatever you want with them. How to get the children for a selected tree node?

if you have a node already where aNode is a DefaultMutableTreeNode for example, then you can use that object's API method to get the child count.
int childCount = aNode.getChildCount();
If you want to loop through all of a node's children and do something at each node, the following may help:
java.util.Enumeration e = aNode.children();
while ( e.hasMoreElements() ) {
DefaultMutableTreeNode n = (DefaultMutableTreeNode)e.nextElement();

Can someone please tell how I can loop through the ValueHelpData node, and get values for CodeNumber and CodeDescription
The ValueHelpData node has the cardinality of 0..n. and has approximately 100 elements.
