Lost in Template World

The struggle with learning templates continues.
I'm trying to create a simple template consisting of one div/containerr centered on page which will contain one image with a caption below.
I want to create several pages like this hence the template.
The images are different dimensions so I go ahead and make the div an editable region thinking that when I put the next differently sized image in that I will be able to resize it.
Unfortuantely when I go to create a new page from this template i can pop a new image in but can't resize div to fit image, I get the,
"making this change would require code that is locked...."
I'm lost!

Lost DWT templates!!!

OK....I lost the template files for a rather large
site. Yes, it was a stupid thing to do. But, what I need to know
now is...is there any easy way to recreate them?
You see, I need to change the Spry menu object across the
site, but I cannot change it on any page except the main page
because they all use a template that I no longer have access to.
So, how do I change these Spry menus? Can I re-create the template
without screwing up the site?

Template files have no function on the server. It's not
likely you will
find it there.
If the template was made using Template expressions/Template
parameters, or
Optional/Conditional Regions, you're hosed. If it was not,
it's a piece
o'cake.
1. Backup your site.
2. Close all open files.
3. Make a duplicate of the aboutus.htm file
3. Select this duplicate file in the file list.
4. Do a find and replace in this CLOSED selected file for
each of the
following -
Find -

Replace -
with nothing
i.e., delete it.
Find -

Replace -
with nothing
i.e., delete it
Find -
<!-- Instance
Replace -
<!-- Template
You now have a template file. Rename it to 'template.dwt' and
move it to
the Templates folder.
Now you can open it and edit out the contents in the editable
regions before
saving it again.

Don't try to use it if it's wet on the inside. Doing so may cause damage from short-circuits.
Leave it in a warm dry well-ventilated place for a few days, or even a week. I heard that burying in a bowl of dry rice helps to draw out the moisture; I've never tried that myself. Once the moisture is gone, the iPod may (?) operate again.

Upgraded App World.. Lost the App World icon

I have a BB Tour 9630. I got an alert today telling me I had to download the upgrade in order to continue. I dowbnloaded, was told the download and install were successful but not the App World icon is no where to be found.
Any ideas??

Lost BB App World

I bought my bb torch 9800 6 days ago. A day after I bought this, a message pops up saying that I can upgrade the version of my app world, I did what the message tells me to do. After I have downloaded everything, another message pops up saying to complete the download I should reboot my bb. I did it also. After the reboot, my app world has lost. Not present in my menu. Been tried to download it again using the browser, still no app world. What should I do?

Missing files, images, pages, updates lost - watercolor template

I am having a great time with the watercolor theme in the latest version of iWeb '08! A few weeks ago I spent over an hour updating my site, and published it. I quit iWeb, and then reopened it. All my changes were there!
two weeks later.
I open the domain file again with iWeb. Some of the sites pages have missing images (applies to my images and the template's.) About 5 of the pages I successfully created last session are completely blank - nothing is on those pages. This is getting rediculous.
Yes, I have used the iWeb feedback to report this issue... three times now. Yet, nothing.... sigh.

Well, I figured this one out as well. It was quite stupid
actually. Like I said in my other "self-answered post" I'm going to
briefly describe the solution for anyone who might need the help.
When Crossword Forge exports your file for the web it makes a
folder with that crosswords documents and it's background image.
You told Crossword Forge what image to use for the
background. Even though it makes a new jpg for your background, it
still has to reference the original. Keep those originals in your
local root folder. don't move them. Crossword Forge will have a
hissy if it can't find the original image. Yeah, even though it
creates a new image.

Lost iWeb Template

My iWeb template for my website seems to have disappeared. I have searched high and low within this iMac to find it but cannot. I enjoy posting to my site and would like to continue to do so. Can you help me find my template or suggest other ideas?

When you launch iWeb do you get your web site? If not what do you get? If you do see your web site then the domain file has to be somewhere on your hard drive.
If you don't get your web site in iWeb and can't find the domain file that contains it you'll have to recreate your site from scratch. Read Paragraph 2.3 of this iWeb FAQ site for tips on recreating the site from scratch with some of the file from the online site: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
To help recover from a a similar incident in the future you should consider instigating a backup strategy. I've created an Automator script to copy the domain file to the Documents folder. It can be used after every session in iWeb so you have a current copy. Download it from Toad's Cellar.

AE CS3 - Lost "CC particle world"

So, I was working on a project and I went to save it, and it said:
After Effects error: missing data in file.
(33 :: 4 )
I was confused and upset at first, but then I went to search for particle world in my plugin search feature and noticed it wasn't there.. I didn't delete or anything. The file had never been saved before either..I'm not sure how to redownload it or if that would even solve the problem.
Help?

I have mcAfee, and in the title is AE CS3, so it's CS3. I'm using Vista Home Premium.
As I said, this was my first time using Adobe After Effects, and I know 100% that I used it. I started a new project, using it, and then I went to save it and it said that. So I tried opening it, and got that message.
I checked in my plugins folder and it wasn't there either.
If you all can't solve it from here, I'll save you some work and reinstall, but hopefully this post will help you all.

Lost "my" templates

To solve a major, major problem I had to wipe my drive, re-install MountainLion and all my apps, prefs, user names and PWs. The "why" of all that isn't worth revisiting. . . too painful!
As a result, my personal Templates are also missing from the new display of Pages' Templates. Where should I look (hopefully) to find them?
I have a SuperDuper back-up only, as my Time Machine files were also hosed.

You should be able to find them on your SuperDuper! clone. You can't access the user library on a clone without starting at the beginning. Open a Finder window in column view & click in this order - (clone drive name) > Users > (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates.

Lost my app world

My app world has vanished from my icons and applications. My phone will not let me download a new one!!

Lost customized template in 3.3 upgrade

Just upgraded to 3.3 Production. Yea.
In 3.3EA1, I had created several custom report templates for the new Find (export/import metadata) tool. They did not come across with the auto upgrade. In what directory would those have been written? I am hoping I can just manually copy an xml file from the previous SDDM directories to the new one.

the file is custom_report_templates.xml and it's located in "System data types directory" - default location of that directory is \datamodeler\datamodeler\types, otherwise what is set in preferences.
I believe you have it defined in preferences and all definitions are taken (templates, scripts, saved search) unfortunately there is a change in file format (and related code) which restricts wider usage of templates make it bound to specific model name. This will be changed in next release.

Lost in the world of WRT54G...HELP

Ok i am trying to configure a network using a SpeedStream Router 4200 with Windstream as an ISP. I can not seem to get both devices to work together. When I have the Linksys WRT54G connected i seem to have problems with my wired computer with Windows Xp and my laptop< a wireless g is installed as far as i know> which is also Xp. I keep losing connection.
I have tried to figure out if I have not set something up in the linksys or I am not setng something up in the modem. Any help would be nice. I am new to the networking side of computers . I have assembled my Desktop computer.

access the setup page of the router then change the "internet connection type" to automatic configuration DHCP, and you have to change the ip address of the router to 192.168.2.1 after saving the settings turn off the router for about ten seconds and plug it back again... see if its able to go online.... tell me if cant get online then we gonna move to the next step

Lost in Android world!! 2.1 or 2.2??

I am new to droids and was wondering if I buy a phone with Android 2.1, will I be able to upgrade it to 2.2 when it comes out? I am looking at the continuum and I believe it is 2.1 right now...would I have to do anything for this upgrade or will my phone babysit me?? Thank

Samsung released their finalized version to the US carriers back in October iirc. It's the carriers that are sitting on their hands now. There is a rumor floating around about a comment on internal Verizon channels that they will be pushing out a Maintenance Release (not Froyo) that should fix the laggy GPS and some other issues while Froyo has been pushed back to early next year. So I guess it's just a waiting game at this point.

Lost in Windows World

There are other questions similar to this, but not exact to my point. Just got a MacAir. Never used Windows. My daughter plays games on her PC and wants to use the MacAir to play games. Not going to install Vista, based on all the posts. I was told I needed to install Windows OEM SP2 kit. Went to newegg.com. Lots of different types:
--XP Professional with SP2
--XP Professional 64Bit SP2C - OEM
--XP Professional With SP2C - OEM
--XP Home With SP2B 1 Pack - OEM
--XP Home Edition with SP2 - Retail
HELP!!! I just want to make sure that what I install can run high end game programs for my daughter.

OEM versions of Windows are licensed only for the system with which they ship. You need a full retail copy of Windows to run on a Mac, either via BootCamp (requires XP Home SP2 or XP Pro SP2) or via virtualization (virtualization is more flexible in the versions of Windows most such apps can run).
Just so you know, she's probably not going to be able to run "high end" " "high graphics" games successfully on your Mac; the graphics chip isn't suitable for really high-end games, i.e. those with very complex animations. The Sims, though, generally aren't particularly demanding on the graphic processor, so from a hardware standpoint, Sims games should work OK.
Note as well that any installation of Windows, be it via BootCamp or via virtualization, is going to eat up a lot of your MacBook Air's hard drive. So you may want to rethink letting your daughter load and run a lot of games on your system.
Just FYI, AB was trying to be helpful and giving you the advice many if not most people here would have, so your rudeness to him was rather uncalled for.

Managing Word Templates in Organization on a network location

We use Word 2013 and started to use corporate templates
currently, our templates are located on our SharePoint Online, which means they're on the web, though most of the users have the template directory synced offline to their local drive with OneDrive for business so choosing and opening templates
is very easy and friendly.
The problem
when someone finished to create a document and want to send it to someone who's not in the corporate network, or even worse, to an external user - their word hangs on the file opening and causes word a massive delay.
we saw that as a workaround, if the document creator "Divorces" the document from its original template via "Developer >Document Template" and then he send it - the document open smoothly.
I'm sure it shouldn't be that difficult. we don't need to start educate users to change all their documents' template back to normal
I don't mind loosing the ability to have the documents update according to their template if something will change on the template in the future.
we just need the templates as a format starter when creating new documents
The Question
what should be the best way to work with templates on a web \ network location that aren't necessary available on the receiver's side?

What you describe is the standard behavior of a document which has lost its template. It is relatively simple include an intercept macro in your templates that attaches documents to the normal template upon the document being saved. Otherwise, you could
provide a macro that does this and attach it to an icon on the QAT.
Be aware that you do not want such documents set to update styles from the template automatically.
What happens when I send my document to someone else? Will Word mess up my formatting?
