I have lost my location services on my setting list. It now appears under privacy in the settings list. I cannot open ie cheat for words. It says to go to location and click on cheat for words - but it is not there. I have even deleted the app and reinstalled it and it still does not work.
So, the only glimpse of hope for me is through IMEI tracking?
Are there any professionals who do IMEI tracking( I dont mind paying them)? I don't trust the police here, they are damm slow.. -
HT5594 location services - lost iphone
I can't find my iphone, how do I use "Location services" to locate it?
If you have set up Find My iPhone on your device (before losing it), here is a description of how to find it:

If you have not set up Find My iPhone, location services will not help you locate it. -
When the lost mode still on?
As my phone is registered with my ID, can he disturb the whole setting and remove my Apple ID so that it cannot be tracked to my ID anymore?
( I don't need to know how, I need to know yes or no).
Once the find my iphone location service is disabled, it is of no use.
Apparently, I believe apple should make sure that once somebody puts his phone in the "Lost mode", all location services should be turned on by default.
The person should not be allowed to turn it off, and neither delete the "Find my iphone" app. In that way, the service may prove beneficial. So, the only glimpse of hope for me is through IMEI tracking?

When I first got my iPad I kept getting the error message "Could Not Determine Your Location" when trying to get it to find my position with the Maps app. I had not activated an AT&T data account yet and was using WIFI. My iPhone, using WIFI only, would determine it's position every time. My access point was registered with Skyhook. I signed up for an AT&T data account and then the iPad would determine it's position via WIFI, even with the "no service" indication. If I had airplane mode enabled but WIFI on the location services would not work. Turning airplane mode off, WIFI connected and no cell service resulted in location services working. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this oddity but maybe the device is working as advertised. The iPhone location services works fine with airplane mode on and WIFI on. Thanks All........JR
Maps and all other apps requiring Location Services were not working for me either (not in 3G and Wifi). The solution for me was going to Settings/General/Reset/Reset all Settings. It automatically fixed the problem ! Try it !

If internet services are all disabled with the mobile carries. would this take priority over what settings are make or not on the Iphone ?
For example, I have internet disabled at Telstra... But yet 3G is enabled on the IPhone, Location services and Cellular Data.
Would this mean none of them work ?
Also, on what priory does Location serves on the Iphone look for a connection to get users localtion ? eg: Mobile carrier .. (if fails, trys to do it via GPS) If GPS fails, then available WI-Fi ?
I'm also guessing Location service on the IPhone only gathers data when an app needs it .. (even when running in background) eg. Maps, compass. etc.

Hello,
I recently got my iphone stolen. Its a 4S with IOS 7. Find my iphone was on. Location services were off. After stolen, went to icloud find my iphone, device was listed but offline. I put it in lost mode and a message. Put a passcode too. It said lost mode pending. After several hours, put it in erase mode. Now it says erase pending. Unfortunately there was no passcode for home screen when it was stolen. I called my iphone several times, it went straight to voicemail. I did not report the iphone stolen yet because i want my device erased. It does not erase if no internet.
My question is this. If the iphone was turned off, can they turn it on, disable cellular data (wifi was off before stolen) and still browse the iphone with no internet connection? Pictures, notes, pdf files, text messages being accessed? Also, if they remove sim card, will activation lock still work wirth no cellular data or internet connection?
Thank you for your help.If the iphone was turned off, can they turn it on, disable cellular data (wifi was off before stolen) and still browse the iphone with no internet connection? Pictures, notes, pdf files, text messages being accessed?
Not if you had a screen passcode set, no, they can't. If you didn't set a screen passcode, then they can most certainly get into your iPhone and access your information.
Also, if they remove sim card, will activation lock still work wirth no cellular data or internet connection?
Activation Lock will remain no matter what they do to the iPhone.

When I use terminal and type this:
drutil eject
I believe the DVD drives makes the odd noise I heard when I booted the laptop up.
Any thoughts?
I'm guessing that means my fan/hardrive are actually OK then, and it's probably the mechanism in the DVD drive that is causing problems?
I'm almost certain there's no DVD stuck in there? -

You need to have the iPhone in your posession to alter that setting. That is something you should have done before it was lost.

i lost my iphone 4 last night and its not reachable assuming someone took out the sim.. so can i or my network company track the iphone which is not reachable through assuming location services and find my phone apps are enabled?
No. Find My Phone is the only way to locate any lost iPhone. However, this requires that Find My Phone be turned on/activated before the phone was lost, and the phone must have an Internet connection. If your phone is turned off, does not have an Internet connection, or has been restored, there is no way to locate it.

- Go to icloud.com, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and send the iPhone a message of where you can be reached.
Otherwise, the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPad and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPad (it erases it) using it.

How do i use location service to ind my iphone?
how do i use location service to find my lost iphone?
Silica Gel usually comes in a porous bag within a perforated box. Put the bag and the phone in a ziplock bag together. If you buy loose silica gel just put it in the plastic bag, then put the phone on top of it. Try not to get the grains of silica gel in the openings on the phone, as it will be hard to get out.

Do I need to leave location services on all the time to use the "Find my iPhone" app?
Do I need to leave location services on all the time to use the "Find my iPhone" app?
The Find My IPhone app is used to find OTHER lost devices, it does nothing to make your device "findable". To make it findable, you must turn on "Find My IPhone" in settings. And than you need location services on. This however does not guarantee that you'll always find it if lost. A thief can set it to factory settings, even remove the sim card. Then it'll be unfindable.
