Lost multitouch features for managing images?

One of my favorite features that I've loved about keynote for years has been being able to pinch in/out on my trackpad or rotate my fingers with an image or item selected and the object respond by growing larger/smaller or rotating accordingly without having to click and drag the handles on the object. This feature appears to have disappeared from the new version of Keynote. Does anyone have any idea how to restore this feature or if doing so is even possible? Currently when I pinch in and out, the size of the entire slide grows larger/smaller as the view zooms in/out

I have also had this issue, though it seems like it may simply be a feature that was removed from the current version of the software.  I hope that they're planning on including it in later versions, because needing to resize using the corner boxes is driving me nuts.

  • GPS Metadata for Managed Images Bug

Alright this is really dumb. Aperture strips the GPS metadata for managed images on a version export, but does not for referenced files.
It just took me 4 hours to figure that out, ug. Metadata is sacred! Always preserve it.

My Aperture library uses managed masters.
I too discovered that if I performed *version exports* of geotagged masters the exported images did not retain the GPS data. The problem was the same regardless of whether the masters were .jpgs or RAW files. (Geotagging was performed with Maperture and Maperture Pro; the bug symptoms are the same regardless of which tool was used.)
Additionally, I discovered that if I performed *master exports*, then not only were the geotags retained in the exported files, but that +reimporting those same exports resulted in new masters whose versions would subsequently retain their geotags on version export+.
    synonym wrote:
If you Relocate Masters... BEFORE you add GPS metadata using Maperture you don't lose any IPTC metadata. If you then Consolidate Masters... you can then apply GPS metadata to these images within your Aperture library and you will not lose IPTC or the GPS data on exporting the versions.
If I'm reading this correctly it sounds like you can "scrub" your library of the problem by relocating masters and then consolidating them again, and that subsequently applied geotags (and by inference IPTC metadata) will be retained on new version exports. Did I get that right?
However if you already have loads of images in your Aperture library that you have added GPS data to with Maperture and you also have loads of IPTC metadata on them and adjustments what do you do?
I did a backup of the library at this point to a vault. I then restored the vault and GPS data and IPTC metadata was all retained and was also all retained on exporting versions!
And if I'm reading the last sentence of your post correctly, it seems like the consistent behavior between our two situations is that if *images are brought into the library with geotags already in them* - in your case by library restoration and in my case by re-importation of previously geotagged masters - *then the geotags will be retained on subsequent master and version exports*.
Is that a valid conclusion to draw? If so, it sounds like I could workaround the problem of geotags missing from my version exports by either A) relocating and then consolidating my masters, or B) by the three-step process of:
    1) geotagging my images,
    2) updating the vault, and then
    3) restoring my library from the vault.

  • Lost Printer Features Pane for HP LaserJet 4050 and Color LaserJet 4550

    Hello,
I am trying to restore the Printer Features Pane for 2 different Hewlett-Packard printers we have connected to our LAN.
The Printers Features Pane is available on several of our older iMacs but NOT several of the newest iMacs just recently installed.
After doing some reading in the discussion forum I thought this was due to an erroneous PPD file and replaced both PPD files on the new iMac (with the absent Printer Feature Pane) with the PPD files copied from the old iMac (with the correctly functioning Printer Feature Pane) . I actually copied the PPD files into both of the following locations:
    • /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj
    • /System/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj
Unfortunately this did not work even when i deleted the old printer, replaced the old PPD files with the new ones (actually replaced the new ones with the older ones from the previous iMacs on which the Printer Features Pane was working as anticipated), restarted the machine and then added the printer selecting the correct PPD file. All machines are running X.4.10
I am sure this is a simple fix that i am just overlooking but really need to get back the option of printing to the "Letterhead" tray of our printers.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Any sound management features for video?

I'm not finding any sound management features for the video part of PS
or anything in the help files yet either.
    Anyone?

Nope. PS is still an image editing app. If you need to do any sound editing, you can find tons of tools out there, many of them free...

If QuickTime Player 7 isn't in the Utilities folder automatically, you can install it separately. See:

  • Managing backup systems for referenced image masters

    The manual says:
+Aperture doesn’t back up the masters of referenced images located outside the Aperture library. *You must maintain your own backup system of referenced image masters.* Aperture does back up the versions, previews, and metadata information associated with referenced images, but not the masters themselves.+ (my bolding)
So, somehow, I ended up with some images (older, it seems) in the vault but other images (newer) as referenced. An incomplete back up to the vault. I understand how I can move those referenced to the Vault but:
    1) is there a fast way to find and select all the referenced masters for this move? Like a menu item or a button in a dialog box that says "Find and move all referenced Masters to the vault"? Simple eh?
    2) why does Apple not allow you to keep referenced Masters out of the vault but a copy of the Master backed up in it? When it goes to reinstall (hopefully never!), it can just reinstall the whole vault in Aperture - if need be. I could live with this especially if it makes backing up all my Masters easy and recovering all of them assured.
    3) Since #2 is not possible for now - how do people back up referenced files and why do you do referenced over Vaulted or a combination of the two (which is what I have but, not knowing I was doing this)? I would like to be able to look at images on my MacBook Pro but really keep the bulk of the images and editing on a MacPro.
    4) when I imported iPhoto to Aperture, did they all come in as vault Masters or referenced?

    Joseph Coates wrote:
...when I imported iPhoto to Aperture, did they all come in as vault Masters or referenced?
Images are imported according to settings you select. Probably you initially imported using a Managed-Images Library. To import by Reference from within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location."
...how do people back up referenced files
Using any normal data backup method. I like to simply manually Finder-copy to external hard drives.
and why do you do referenced over Vaulted or a combination of the two (which is what I have but, not knowing I was doing this)?
Actually the correct syntax is Referenced over Managed. Vault refers to one type of backup routine that does include Managed Masters.
The primary problem with using a Managed-Masters Library instead of a Referenced-Masters Library is that for almost all modern digital photogs using Aperture their quantity of image files will grow quickly, rapidly taking more and more space on a single internal hard drive if Managed-Masters keeps all image files on a single internal hard drive.
Hard drives slow as they fill, so unless a multi-drive SATA/eSATA array is used a Managed-Library drive will sooner or later lose performance. Use of Referenced-Masters allows the Library to forever stay small enough not to overfill a single drive.
Personally I consider separate backup of Masters outside Aperture's Vault protocol a benefit, not a negative.
Using a Managed-Masters Library works even for for laptop/iMac owners if completed Projects with Masters are constantly purged from Aperture but that is inappropriate workflow for most photogs, and the benefits of using a Managed-Masters workflow are minimal.
I would like to be able to look at images on my MacBook Pro but really keep the bulk of the images and editing on a MacPro.
Although various user workarounds exist, the issue of synching your laptop Library with your desktop Library has not (yet) been addressed by Apple. IMO Apple's failure (still) to address this key issue is a travesty; Apple's single-user Filemaker has had that capability since the 1980's.
I suggest going to "Provide Aperture Feedback" under the Aperture menu and requesting that Apple provide single-user synch capabilities for two Libraries (such as the laptop/desktop setups that you and I both have). Note that it is important to specify single-user, two-Libraries, because multi-user scenarios are entirely different solutions that - unlike single user solutions - are usually very complex and expensive.

  • Suggested Feature for Adobe Application Manager

In an upcoming release I'd like to suggest a feature for the application manager. It would be nice if there was a shutdown computer after updates finish option. This way I could let it run when I finish working, leave, and have it take care of shutting everything down for me.

Moving this discussion to the Creative Cloud Download & Install forum.
Aarroonn789 the Adobe Application Manager is a main component of the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  I would recommend removing and reinstalling the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  You can find more details at Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html.

I have lost some features that I loved about my Droid when I made the switch. The first is the ability to view the next several calendar items I have on the home screen instead of touching the calendar to see these events. The next is the widget feature where I can just touch the picture associated with a person to call. Are there apps that can help with one or both of these features? I am almost ready to switch back.

  • Disconnected managed images after data recovery

First of all, hello to all of you willing to help me,
I am on a trip around the globe with limited internet access and only my mac, a camera and now three external hdd (and my wife G). Hence, not many options to deal with technical problems. Further more am I a fairly new, meaning un-experinced aperture user.
    The problem:
After b-tree header error, DiskWarrior usage, relocation of aperture library (and all other restorable data) to new external hdd is aperture not willing to identify the current location of most of the pix I once had in the library (10.000+). The pictures in one "project" and all sub folders/albums are connected and usable as ever. The rest shows a little badge in the right hand corner with a red line crossing a square from the bottom left to the upper right corner.
Before the b-tree header error, I had all "masters" as "managed images".
Now most images are still physically in the library when I control-click on the library and take a look into the package.
I tried to reconnect the pictures within aperture. But this is not do able. If I select more then one image and follow the instructions from the manual it wont give me the option to reconnect the pix. If I choose one image - it works. But searching through the directories for 10.000+ pictures by hand can't be the final solution.
Moreover, the repair library option does not start when I try it with alt-cmd-dbl click.
What shall I do? Any solutions?
Thanks for any help in advance!
    P.S.
if I did not use the correct terms in english forgive me please. I work on a german language setting.

First of all it means you have had your masters Referenced, and now connection has been lost, for now.
Did you think they were Managed? Sounds like you need to reconnect to the source drive for your masters, either one or more?

  • How to get more features for Captivate 6

    Hi all,
I've installed Captivate 6 on my laptop at work, I use it for creating training material for our project management system. I was just looking at some Adobe video tutorial and there are some features shown in the videos that I can't find on my captivate (for example Drag and Drop interaction, some particular widget like "Hangman" etc...). I tried to download them, clicking on the "Download more interactions" but there are any available. So, is there a way to get those features, at least those shown in your video tutorial for Captivate 6?
    Thank you very much
    Elena

    Hello,
    thank you for your answer.
I have the version 6.0, so maybe I can't get those features because of the version that I have.
Even if I click on "Download more" on the Interactions window, there are no Interactions available, but is it a problem related to my version or it's because there aren't available new features?
    Thank you very much,

    Hello and welcome,
I cannot remember for the Hangman interaction anymore, but Drag&Drop was only available for subscription users, for version 6.1.0.3190 Maybe it was not clear in the video you are pointing at, that not all features were available for box licenses. Which version do you have?

  • Setting azure portal icon for new images

According to the Azure Service Management REST API, one should be able to set the icon to be displayed in the portal using the IconUri and SmallIconUri tags as described here.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj157198.aspx
I sent this command with these values set to the URLs for publicly available png icon files and created a new image.  The image was created successfully and no errors were returned, however the icons displayed are still the default windows icons.
Is this feature disabled somehow or is there some other specification that needs to be set or addressed?
I could continue to try endless possibilities (like different sized icons or URL locations) but it seems like this should have worked according to the API specification since no other restrictions were stated.
Could someone please tell me how to get this to work?
    Bruce

    Hi
    Sorry for mis-understand your question:
I think this IconURI feature disabled.
Because in latest Azure Management Class libraries, this class libraries is based on latest Azure REST API.
    You can't find IconUri property.

  • Best application for enlarging images

I'm in the process of compiling a slide-show presentation for display at my parents wedding anniversary. The show itself will be a mixture of still images plus short video clips much in this style http://www.studioimpressionsphotography.com/blog/2009/10/stills-and-motion-using-hd-dslr-c ameras/
I've also scanned some old images from way back but unfortunately these are of relatively poor quality and small. After a lot of touching up etc in Photoshop I'm generally quite pleased with the results although of concern to me is the relatively small file size of the resultant jpeg images - generally around the 1MB mark. I feel sure that when the show is burnt to DVD and displayed using a beamer that some of the quality shall be lost. Therefore I thought it might be best to increase the size of the images, and hence the file sizes, and here is where my question lies.
I have read that Photoshop is generally good for increasing image size up to approx 200 - 250% but that for anything above that a more specialised/dedicated application would be better. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this application so could some kind soul jog my memory in this regard. Thanks.

Thanks Marian, I think that I understand what you are saying but wouldn't swear to it. I'm using an application called Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum into which I shall place the still images (jpegs), short movie clips (MOV), and of course music (mp3) files. Upon burning to DVD this opens another Sony application called DVD Architect which handles the necessary authorising etc.
I've got to admit that a lot of this goes over my head, expressions - such as authoring etc and in the past I've managed to muddle my way through producing/burning slide show presentations to DVD. These have only been presented on a TV screen or computer monitor via a DVD player though, and not through a Beamer or Projector, which is what prompted my initial question.
To be honest though, Beamer/Projector resolution wasn't something that crossed my mind really. Looking at it in simple terms I viewed the Beamer/Projector as simply a projection device to which the DVD player is connected, and that so long as the DVD player is playing it all right then the Beamer/Projector will project it. Either way, I'm glad that this project is simply a one-off and that eventually I'll be able to get back to normal photography.

  • I have lost my tabs for the umpteenth time. Session restore only works if your kids hit the restore button. Otherwise, a new session gets started. FRUSTRATED!!!

Even though I have my settings set to the "correct" settings to hopefully prevent the lost tabs problem, you still have to be careful in order to prevent the loss of tabs. I have lost all my research again and again... If for whatever reason FF gets closed the wrong way, and then the "restore session" button doesn't get clicked when you re-open, and then you happen to open any further tabs, suddenly you can never get back to all your previous tabs.
I have scoured the internet for solutions to this problem, looked for ways to get them back, and ways to prevent this from occurring. I Have set my browser to the recommended settings. I have tried to restore my sessions. I don't understand WHY cannot the tab feature be made easy to save????
I get all these tabs set up... and then, WHAM! suddenly they evaporate, never to be seen again.
love the Tab system. It's visual. It's relatively easy to navigate. I don't forget they are there, and they are effortless to create...unlike bookmarks.
Why in the world can't I give a tab group a name and then have it be permanently available, like a group of bookmarks that I can create and access at will?
Why must it be that I have to search the internet for ways to restore them, and then the recommendations are geared only to computer literate people able to extract them from the bowels of their computer memory in some obscure and confusing procedure?!?
I have looked at and installed numerous add-ons in the hopes of solving this problem and have not found a satisfactory solution. It seems like there are tons of other people out there who wish for this exact same thing, What is the hang-up with this???

Firefox has the ability to bookmark all open tabs, in each window separately. It's not a "session manager", but if it's the same set of tabs you want opened at the same time all the time, you might consider using that feature.<br />
Right-click a tab and select '''Bookmark All Tabs...''' and then give the folder a name. When you want to open all those tabs simply middle-click that folder or right-click that folder and select '''Open All in Tabs'''.
As far as the "problem" you described...... <br />
    # You really should have a separate logon user account for your kids or for each of the other users of that PC, so they wouldn't be using your Firefox installation. That is a basic feature in Windows that goes back to the days of Windows 2000.
    # Firefox saves the previous session, but if that session isn't restored during the "current session" it is gone. That's the way it is designed to work. A temporary session save feature.
    # To save a session or multiple session try using a "session manager" extension to "extend" what comes with Firefox. Here's two extensions with a session manager feature for your consideration. <br />

  • Disk Utitlity has "Lost Connection" with Disk Management tool"

[ Edited by Apple Discussions Moderator; please start a new topic about your technical issue. ]
    Running OSX10.3.8
    I installed:
    "iTunes" (6.0.2)
    "iPod Updater 2005-11-17" ((null))
    "iChat Update" (2.1)
    Went to repair disk permissions
    I get this error:
Disk Utitlity has "Lost Connection" with Disk Management tool" Please quit Disk Utility.
then it says quitting Disk Utility may render the disk useless. Stopping the scan just gives a "stopped by User" red text message in the DU screen.
Had to Quit. No other way out.
Now it will not repair "or" verify Disk permissions at all.
    What to do?

Getting the same results booting off of the install CD. I even ran fsck -y after a soft boot(command S). Note I also installed the iPod updater and iChat update.
I'm getting a crash log that has to do with DiskManagement
    Path: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Resources/DiskManage mentTool
I tossed the pref file for Disk utility and tried to locate a pref for the Disk Management but nada...
Is there a prefs file that needs to be tossed?
Anyone do a recent Onyx Maintainence cleaning?
Is there a way to do an iTunes Uninstal and reinstall a previous version?
