Lost my grub bootsplash after upgrade

Hi all,
Loving Arch and have been using for a few weeks.  Just did a pacman -Syu today and now my nice custom Arch bootsplash is gone in grub.  When I started up after my upgrade the screen stayed blank and loaded Arch instead of giving my splash screen and list of distros, currently Arch, Rubix and Kubuntu along with Windoze (almost windoze free).  Commented out the splashimage line in menu.lst and now at least I get my selection but I kind of like my Arch Splash screen.  Any ideas?  I'm new to Arch but definitely not to Linux.  I like Rubix as well but like the idea of running a Canadian distro plus Arch has way more packages.

Sorry, I must have brain-freeze.  I just reinstalled the grubsplash package I made in my abs directory and got it back but I guess this downgrades me back to an older version of grub?  I must be playing with too many linux distros.  Can't even remember building that package...duh!

  • Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite

Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite. Has anyone had this problem? How did you re-import all your lost music? My iTunes currently only contains all of the music I have purchased from the iTunes Store but nothing that was burned to my iTunes. All of my music files still seem to be located on my hard drive within the iTunes folder but they did not re-import into the library during the upgrade to Yosemite. Thanx for your help.

    Hi OrangeOAK,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you still have the music on the computer but need to re add it to iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
Adding music and other content to iTunes - Apple Support
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a great day,
    Mario

  • Lost saved mail messages after upgrading to OSX Mavericks

I rencently noticed that after upgrading to OSX Mavericks I have lost all of my saved messages from before that date, messages mainly from my gmail account that is syncing with Mail. I have also noticed that the same messages are now missing when I log into Gmail and look for them there.

    HI,
I also use IMAP and the "folders" I create in the Mail App are actually created on the IMAP server.
My Mail side bar looks like this:-
Between the INboxes and the Google folders are the Smart Mailboxes (Today)  and the On My Mac line which is current closed/hidden.
I have a bunch more folder that are On My Mac in here.
I went the Google Mail Web page the other day and was informed that there was a New Inbox.
I also received an email about it.
It appeared to happen just as I logged in to Google.
I not sure it this was coincidence or the trigger.

  • Lost Ability to Scroll After Upgrading to Firefox 6.0.2

I've lost the ability to scroll using my mouse (touchpad on a Lenovo T400) after upgrading to Firefox 6.0.2. I still have the ability to scroll in every other application (IE, Word, etc.) and previously had the ability to scroll in the prior version of Firefox. I'm operating Windows XP and have already checked to make sure my mouse settings are correct. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Flash does not appear in the plugins list. It works fine in other browsers. /Library/Internet plug-ins/Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt exist. I can't find the flash plugin elsewhere (profile/plugins, in the App package)
I created a new profile to test if the profile was at fault. The plugin still did not load. Firefox finds the plugin but in [profile]/pluginreg.dat it adds it under [INVALID]:

  • Has anyone else lost their iTunes app after upgrading to ios7

When upgrading to iOS 7 I lost everything and had to start from factory settings on my ipad2. I've recovered everything except the iTunes app. I have an app named "Music" and I have the iTunes Store app. I tried going to Ap Store to download it and it states that iPads already come with iTunes... Well mine's gone after the upgrade. Does anyone have suggestions?

  • Lost my E: drive after upgrade to mountain lion

    Hi,
I upgraded to Mountain Lion today and everything looked ok. However when I booted into windows 7 (boot camp), I found my E: drive missing.
Earlier with snow leopard, windows 7 would show me the following drives
    (BootCamp) C:
    (DVD RW Drive) D:
    (My Data) E:
    (Macintosh HD) F:
Now with mountain lion, windows 7 cannot find E:
A screen shot of my computer management window is below and it shows my earlier E: as unallocated.
Can I get my E: drive back?
    Thanks in advance.

After trying to rebuild my data for a month, I have got it all back today. Luckily I didnt need the data during this time. Ok below is the solution for others who find themselves in a similar situation.
    Recap...
When I had Snow Leopard, I installed windows 7 with bootcamp. Within windows I resized my windows partition and created a new drive E:\ for my data files, Every thing was great and E:\ has all my data from over last year and a half. Also had set up my backup schedule to run once a week.
    December 20th 2012 - D-Day
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and the OS worked great. However when I booted into Windows 7, my E:\ has disappeared and my computer management widget shows an unallocated block where my E:\ once resided.
You can see screenshots of my partitions in both Windows 7 computer management  and Mountain Lion Disk Layout in my posts above.
    The Solution...
Looked for data recovery solutions online and homed in on EaseUs Partition Master at http://www.easeus.com/partition-recovery. Installed the free version in windows 7 and ran the Data Recovery ->Partition Recovery Wizard -> Search all lost files automatically.
It took a while, about 3-4 hours, but after that I could not believe my eyes when I saw my entire folder structure with all my files from my missing partition.
However the free edition only recovers 1 GB of data, so I went ahead and purchased it for $69.95.
This software does not recreate the partition, but allows you to restore the lost files and folders to an existing drive. It also warns you not to select the same disk as destination as it may overwrite the space used by the lost files thus preventing 100% recovery. So I went ahead and recovered the files to my pen drive.
Now I had to recreate the partition from the unallocated space in Windows7 computer management screen. But then I would again face this problem when upgrading to Mac OS X 11 in the future I will have to redo these steps again. So I decided to configure the partition in OS X rather than windows 7 and format it as FAT.
I went ahead and created the partition in OS X and Quick formatted it as FAT. When I created the partition, I was warned that this action could possible affect my boot record (or something to that effect). I ignored it and went ahead.
    A new problem surfaces
Now when I restart the MAC, windows 7 is missing from the list of bootables. But the solution to this turned out to be very simple.
See Christopher Murphy's detailed explanation in the discussion here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144252?start=0&tstart=0. I just read through the 1st few posts on this discussion to restore the windows 7 bootable option when restarting.
    To conclude
Thanks Christopher Murphy from the other discussion for help on the 2nd half of the problem.

  • Lost airport base station after upgrade

I started the airport utility which noted that there was new software for my base station available, which I downloaded and installed. After that I lost my base station... I have a Thomson router which got immediately corrupted as well. Now I have to choose between the Thomson or the Airport. I can't have them at the same time.
    Anyone a suggestion ??
    thanks in avance
    Airport purchased 3 weeks ago...

I left the base station unplugged for the whole night.. as soon as I plug it in I loose my complete network and I can't access the base station to change the settings. I have to unplug it again and restart my ADSL modem to get my network up again.
This is very frustrating, espacially because averything worked fine before my upgrade..

  • Lost "Shared" in Finder after upgrade of 10.5.2

I have 2 Window computers that are networked as well as my MacBook Pro.
Prior to my 10.5.2 upgrade I could see and access those other machines and their files.
Since the upgrade the "shared" folder does not display in the Finder sidebar.
I have checked Finder preferences and all the appropriate boxes are checked.
    Any suggestions out there?
Also, after doing a Archive and Install, is it OK to delete the "Previous System" folders that are created?
    Thanks in Advance

Hi, I found Terminal commands within this section of the forum, on page 3 or 4. I don't give them out because I am not familiar, nor comfortable working this deep in the system. You can reset Finder, New Finder window, and try commands.

  • Lost all ical appointments after upgrade to Snow Leopard

Yes, I like Snow Leopard, but it seems to have wiped iCal clean.
    Not so nice.

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro Intel laptop to Snow Leopard, and my iCal lost my "personal" and "family" calendars. There is no longer any content in those calendars in username/library/iCal - but there is in "work", "vacation", and another custom calendar. These events in these calendars have also disappeared from MobileMe, with the exception of about 4 or 5 random events over the past couple of years (out of probably thousands in those two calendars over several years, as these were loaded from an Outlook calendar in 2006). Interestingly, all my recent events in the missing calendars are still on my iPhone.
I tried the com.apple.iCal.plist on the desktop suggestion, but this did not recover any content. Any suggestions? Even some ideas about why just these two calendars (with the bulk of my content this year) have been affected, not the others? Very strange (not to mention very frustrating, as I'll have to recreate all of that content, it seems). Thanks.

  • Lost content of body after upgrade

Upgraded to maverics - no content in the body of mail - lost 1000's of emails - no duplicate boxes in the library - I look forward to retrieving... ahahahahhaha

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Lost itunes back up after upgrade itunes

    About iOS backups
FYI, iTunes does not back up anything after remotely wiping the device... iTunes does not remotely wipe the device.
"Find My iPhone" can be used to remotely wipe a device, there is no backup involved in doing so.
