Lost my plugins when upgrading to Photoshop CC  ):

Are there any work-arounds to using my Photoshop CS 6 plugins in PS CC? I lost Perfect Resize, Perfect Photo Suite, Nik Color Effects Pro, Lucis Art Pro ( CS 5 only), Topaz Labs Suite when I upgraded to Photoshop CC. If there are no such work-arounds maybe CC is not such a good deal.

You didn't lose anything.
Photoshop CC is an entirely separate product from its predecessor, and is installed in a different set of folders.  In fact, unless you uninstalled the old version it's still there and can still be run.
Reinstall your plug-ins after finding out whether there are updated versions specifically for CC.  Failing that, you can try copying individual plug-in files into the Photoshop CC plug-ins subfolder (but DO NOT copy all the files from the old version).  Some plug-ins require additional files beyond just the .8bf, .8bi, etc. files.  But you know what each requires - you got it in the first place.  Photoshop CC is no different, really - just in a different place.
Did you have any Extra Plug-ins Folder defined in Photoshop CS6?  That's no longer available but there is a workaround.

  • IPhotos has lost my Photos when upgrading to Yosemite

When I upgraded to Yosemite like many people I have seen on forums there was a issue with upgrading the iPhoto library when upgrading to 9.6.  Finally it looked like it had worked but now all of my photos do not appear in iPhoto.  The files seem to be there still as the iPhoto library file is still1.26TB in size (i have a lot of photos).  I have tried doing a full rebuild of the Library but it did nothing.  I also purchased iPhoto Library Manager but this does not help either.  Please can anyone help?
I am using iPhoto 9.6, OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) on a iMac (27-inch, Late 2013).  The Library is stored on a "My Book Thunderbolt Duo", 8TB in raid 1 configuration.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Lost bootcamp capability when upgrading from OS X Mavericks to OS X Yosemite 10.10?

When upgrading from OS X Mavericks to OS X Yosemite 10.10 while dual booting with Windows 7 on my bootcamp partition, I can't access the Windows partition any more. When I restart my computer and hold the alt key the only drives that are shown are my Mac OS X and Recovery (usually there is the bootcamp drive there too). Does anyone have any solutions? I can still access my windows 7 files from within my Mac partition weirdly enough. And if there aren't any solutions, is bootcamp broken on Yosemite? Is it safe to redo the process and put a fresh Windows 7 or Windows 8 partition back on bootcamp again? I'm not tech savvy enough to understand all of the coding components so if you want to walk me through it you can, or just provide a simple explanation, any help is grateful. Thanks for your help.

    Here is some additional info.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some additional online Apple retailers, like Amazon, FastMac, etc, and as posted, eBay.
As also posted, be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs. They will not work.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.
Additional info here Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs.
Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, you could also consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.

Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media."
AppleRescue, also sells a Tiger installation set on CD.

  • Color and size changed when upgraded to photoshop CS5

Hi, I created a flyer in an older version of photoshop and when I upgraded to CS5 the colors and print size changed. This is particularly distirbing b/c this is a flyer/advertisment for work that was almost at the final stage. They are quite small changes, but changes that need to be corrected just the same. The colors look different (duller) on the screen and in print while the size became smaller when I print (to pdf and the printer). My print settings are the same as before as are my color settings (CMYK). I am fairly new at creating flyers in photoshop, so I am hoping this is a simple fix. Thanks.

Are you 100% certain you are using the same color profiles throughout? That print size issue might be specific to your printer driver... CS5 has a completely rewritten print handling which may not correctly cooperate with your printer driver or conversely the driver might need to be updated...

  • What happen to plugins when upgrade from CS3 to CS4?

This question may have been asked before but I could not find in the forum.
I have a few plugins installed in my CS3 now. Do I need to manually reinstall all of them when I upgrade to CS4?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm assuming you are asking about 3rd party plug-ins.
Most likely you will need to reinstall for each version; But it depends on how you installed it. You may also need to check with the 3rd party about license and activation.
You can opt to install into the Ps plug-in folder for any given version, or install to a location outside of Ps and then point to that directory in the Ps preferences (see Preferences> Plug-Ins> Additional Plug-Ins Folder).
If you went the former route then reinstall to CS4. If you went the later, check the preference option and point to the folder.
BTW, don't just move the whole CS3 Plug-Ins directory over to CS4 because the set shipped with Ps get rebuilt and you will put copies from CS3 that are not compatible with CS4 into that directory.

  • Plugins when upgrading to elements 13

I have upgraded from Elements 11 to Elements 13.  In Elements 11 I regularly used the Nik collection and Topaz Adjust plugins.  They have not been installed in the Elements 13.  How to I get Elements 13 to recognize these plug ins?

I assume you're using Windows 7. If so, I can't help you with the NIK plug-ins, but with the Topaz plug-ins, do this: Computer/OS/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13/Plug-Ins/Topaz. To translate: go to the desktop, open Computer, then open your computer's built-in hard drive, usually labeled OS, open the folder Program Files, open the Adobe folder, open Photoshop Elements 13 folder, open Plug-Ins folder. It is in the Plug-Ins folder that you want to put your Topaz plug-ins. I simply copied mine from PSE 12's Plug-Ins folder and pasted them in PSE 13's Plug-Ins folder. As for the NIK plug ins, you may be able to do the same thing with them as with the Topaz plug-ins. However, you may not be able to. In my case, I also use on-One software's plug ins and it is a little harder to get them to work. In this case, I have to re-download them from on-One's site and let the installer do its thing, which, of course, means you have to re-enter your license numbers.

  • Lost contact information when upgraded

When I upgraded my phone to the ios6 my contacts disappeared from my phone and instead gave me my facebook contacts.  My old contacts are on my icloud.  How can I transfer my old contact numbers from my icloud account on my computer back to my phone.

    Missing contacts:
Here's a test to perform - using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and go to the Contacts page.  If they are gone, then they are gone (must have been a setting during the update to iOS6).
If they show up, then the problem is that your device is not connecting to the Contacts database on icloud.
On the device, go to Settings>icloud.  Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID.  If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost.  Then log back in using the correct ID.  ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).
Note:  Contacts are not part of an iCloud backup, since they are part of contacts database on iCloud's servers.

  • Lost wireless connection when upgrading to 10.6.8

Friend upgraded to 10.6.8 and has lost the ability to establish wireless connecttion again after re-start.  I was able to re-estable Airport connection to the router, but it will not go to the final internet connection process.  I ran Assistant and it goes all the way through till it needs to connect to the internet and a message comes up to restart router.  I do this but noting happens.  Gets stuckrepeating the restart router message.  Any suggestions?
I had the same proble when I upgraded last weekend, I use an Airport Express, and it took me several trys to finally get internet back and finally the last patch to get the wireless printer to work.

You may want to have a look at this posting. Many owners of Xerox printers, mostly with Fiery print controllers, are having the same error with the lpd backend. The easiest solution for many was to retrieve the 10.6.7 version of the lpd backend from their time machine backup and replace the new 10.6.8 version. If you don't have a time machine backup (crazy practice when the app is built in) then a kind user has posted the file for others.

    Hi,
From the cotrol panel select Devices and Printers, right click and remove any listed HP Deskjet 3050 printer by selecting Remove Device.

  • Lost adjustment settings when editing in Photoshop

I'm experiencing that LR4 skips the usual question if I want to open a copy with or whitout development settings when I open a file into Photoshop. Thus, I always end up with an unedited RAW file. I cannot find any setting in the preferences to adress this issue, should I simply re-install LR4 or is the function disabled for some reason in the Beta?

Until you get Camera Raw 7 in Photoshop CS6 (which ain't shipping yet) you'll have to open the image in Photoshop using the option "Render using Lightroom". You should be seeing that dialog when you open in Photoshop, do you?

  • I lost my history when upgraded from 3.6 to 4.0. How do I recover?

When I upgraded from Firefox 3.6 latest to Firefox 4 on March 22, my history disappeared. Looking at the places.sqlite file, it looks like it created a new one and renamed the older one .corrupt. The file wasn't corrupt in 3.6 - it worked fine! Even when I restore a backup copy of the file from last week, as soon as I start Firefox 4 it renames the existing file and creates a new one. If I'd known this would happen, I wouldn't have upgraded! Can this be fixed?

Extensions may need updates to work with Firefox. But your passwords, bookmarks, form data will be preserved between the versions.

  • Lost performance data when upgrading Fabric Manager

    Hello,
I did a fabric Manager update from 4.2(1b) to 4.2(7b).
Altough I reused the original 4.2(1b) Oracle Database all my historical performance monitoring in Fabric Manager Web Client was lost!
    What went wrong?
What should I do in the future to safeguard the historical data?
    Rgds,
    Ivy

did you do "in-place" upgrade? that should have taken care of it.
but note that FM does not store performance data into the database. It is maintained in local directory. There was an advisory about how to move this data between two versions. but i have not been successful using that

  • Lost Firefox bookmarks when upgrading operating system.

My IT dept upgraded my desktop to Windows 7 and I lost all my Firefox bookmarks. They recovered my old IE favorites, but they aren't trained on Firefox. Any suggestions how to recover those bookmarks?

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
    Firefox menu button > Options
View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup
