Lost remote

I have searched this topic and I know I can use any other apple remote with my apple tv, but I don't have another apple remote. I lost the one that came with my macbook long ago.
So, without any apple remote of any kind, can I "un pair" the lost remote and then pair the apple tv with a universal remote?
Is there a way to return it to the factory settings? I've tried unplugging everything.
Thanks!
I mean really, if they are going to make such a small remote, there should be some kind of a beeper on it!

there is an option in settings that allows appleTV to learn the commands of any remote... but i guess you can't get to that setting without a remote.. you could buy an appleTV remote and set up another remote in your house to control appleTV then return the appleTV remote (or keep it)... then you'd always have a remote in your house that could control it.
pretty sure if you restored to factory setting it would unpair... but again you need a remote to get to that setting.

Never hurts to check or ask.

  • I lost remote to apple tv

i lost remote to apple tv

If you have a iphone or ipad you can download "remote" app & control it that way (it's easier I think).  You can also buy one on apple's website @ http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC377LL/A/apple-remote?fnode=61

  • How do I set up used Apple TV with lost remote?

I just moved and purchased the previous tenant's Apple TV. However, she had lost the remote so I do not have one. How can I set up the tv?

You will be unable to setup the Apple TV without a remote. One can be purchased through Apple or any authorized reseller.

  • Lost remote for Apple Tv 1st generation.

    Hi,
I've lost my remote for my 1st generation Apple TV and can no longer navigate through the menus.  Can the 1st generation remotes still be purchased. If so where??!  If not can a different remote work to navigate through the menus of a 1st generation Apple TV.  I've tried a 2nd generation remote and it did not navigate through the menus but did make the light on the 1st generation Apple TV come on when I tried to push the buttons.  I've downloaded remote apps. on my iPhone, but without the remote for the 1st generation Apple TV I was not apple to navigate through the Apple TV menus to sync up the iPhone remote app.  Any assistance would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Actually you can use the remote app to control the first generation Apple TV, but you'd need the supplied remote to set it up.
You don't need the first generation remote, the remote for the second generation model will control either model.
So assuming you still have your remote for your second generation Apple TV you could configure the first generation Apple TV with it to work with the remote app on the iPad and not need to buy a new remote at all. But if you do buy a new remote, the one sold in the store will be just fine.

  • Setup ATV, lost remote, can it be done with Remote.App?

I recently moved and lost the ATV remote and cannot setup the Apple TV w/o it. Is there anyway to access the setup on the ATV to pair with the Remote.App of the iPhone? Due to a recent phone replacement, I no longer have an iPhone setup to access the Apple TV. Thanks in advance.
    Mark

An Apple remote is an IR remote whereas the Remote app works through the local network. You can only access ATV content with the Remote app, you can't access the entire menu with it. Your best bet would be to just buy another Apple remote and pair it with your ATV.

  • Lost remote login ability

Hi all, hope I can keep this brief and get some help. I set up SBS 2011 and ES 2010 for a small business with a few users, all went well. I had to purchase an SSL certificate to get ES working as I wanted, with remote users of iPads, laptops etc ... and
again, this went as it should. However, since installing the certificate, I have lost the ability to connect to the server remotely. I used to connect via RDP to remote.xxx.co.uk using remote web access feature; but since the certificate I installed was issued
to mail.xxx.co.uk the RDP no longer works. Accessing individual exchange accounts via OWA still work fine, and the ES still works fine. It's just that I'd like to be able to get to the server remotely, so I don't have to visit the site when anything needs
changing. Anyone any ideas? Any input much appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
Based on your description, I understand that you can't remote login server via RWA. Would you please let me know any error message that you can find, when you want to logon remotely? Meanwhile, would you please let me know how you install the third-party
    SSL certificate on server?
In addition, please refer to the following KB and run SBS 2011 BPA tool. Please solve issues that SBS BPA can find, then check if this issue still persists.
Windows SBS Best Practices Analyzer (BPA)
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2673284/en-us
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • HT1555 I've lost my Apple Remote. How can I connect my ipad with the remote app, as I can't obviously unpair the lost remote!?

I lost my remote so downloaded the remote app onto my ipad, but unfortunately doesn't connect automatically. It says I have to disconnect the remote by accessing the Apple TV by the remote which I have lost.  HELP.

  • Apple TV remote no longer working, unpairing is giving me resolution screen, lost Remote app control as well.

I've been trying to sort this out for a while; somehow my Apple TV is no longer homesharing with the rest of my network.  I had hoped to use my apple TV remote to re-activate the Remote Apps I have on my iPod, but the remote isn't responding.  I've tried unpairing, but if I press menu-rewind for six seconds, it sends me to the resolution screen instead, and the white light flashes repeatedly - I can't get the remote to accept the resolution settings, or get the cursor to even so much as move.  Extremely frustrating as I've been unable to make this work for a week and I don't drive (I'm disabled and housebound) so just popping into a shop somewhere to get it fixed is a slim-to-none chance of possibility.
    I really hope there's a better solution!

all apple remotes work out of the box
borrow the remote from the neighbors kid Eric that he got with his appletv or imac or macbook or the likes it works
or buy a new remote it works
borrow Erics remote and use it to setup remote app on an ios device that works too

  • Can I set up apple tv w/out lost remote?

Can I buy only  a apple remote to replace the one that came with Apple TV?  I have a new wifi connection so I cannot use my iPhone remote until I have connected apple tv to the new Internet service.

    any apple remote will work.

  • Another Lost Remote Question

At least I have a good excuse for losing mine - we've moved twice in the last six months...
I managed to find a remote, but I figure its battery is dead or is simply knackered because the Apple TV light doesn't change colour and the six seconds menu/rewind trick doesn't work either.
The Apple TV is stuck in 'Update Now/Update Later' mode and I can't control it.
Here's my question: I have Remote on my iPhone and was wondering whether anyone had any ideas whether I can control the Apple TV from it or do I have to get a new remote?
    Many thanks in advance...

If my male instincts are all that they should be, she will.
Shall we try to get them back for her. I assume they were on the original computer, are they also on the new one or not. If not you can copy them over, there are numerous ways, home sharing, USB stick, network transfer.
Or perhaps you can set up the old mac as a secondary library.
    (Please excuse my unsupported nomenclature)

  • Lost Remote Sharing Connection When Installing iWork, Now it Won't Install

    Hi everyone,
I have a new Macbook Air and I was installing iWork on it remotely from my iMac. Everything was working fine and then my iMac went to sleep in the middle of the install. This then stopped the remote sharing and the installation of iWork on my Macbook Air.
Now, when I restart and try and install, it isn't working. It only goes so far and then just hangs for a really long time. It gets to the 'Installation' section and then just says 'Waiting for other installations to complete'. Obviously there are no other installations happening, but it won't move past this point.
Does anyone know if there's any way of getting it to work, or if there's something it's part put on the Macbook Air that I should delete to get this to work?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Tracy

Deleting Boot Camp partitions the conventional way will not work . You must use the Boot Camp Assistant to remove a Boot Camp partition. Here is a link to the guide.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf
The way to restart is to hold down the option/alt key during startup* and then selecting the Mac OS. If you have a valid Boot Camp install of Windows it would show up during this type of start up.
    * hold down immediately after pressing the power button and until the OS choice screen appears.
    To summarize.
1 Use the above method to boot into Mac OS.
2 Download the instructions and read them.
3 Use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition.

How to config a new remote on apple tv (first generation). I have lost my remote which came with the apple tv.

Do you mean you've replaced your remote and it wont work because your AppleTV is paired to your lost remote?
If so, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1555 has you covered.

Does my protection plan cover lost remotes? Do I have to buy a new one?

i your remote breaks applecare will replace it for free if you return the defective one but if you lose it you must purchase another. its that way with almost everything with a warranty. why should the company be responsible for consumer irresponsibilty? everyone could get free stuff by saying they lost it!
