LOV based result set

Hi,
I have a LOV in APEX though which all classes will be selected and also search button.
when a class is selected in the LOV and search button pressed it will retrive all the students based on the class.
Now I want to know is there any way I can get the data of students without the search button, i mean WHEN EVER I SELECT A VALUE IN LOV IT WILL DISPLAY ALL THE STUDENT DETAILS (I can avoid the clicking button to retrieve the data).
Thanks,
Prasad

Prasad,
In the "HTML Form Element Attribute" of your LOV add the following:
onchange="doSubmit('REFRESH_PAGE')"in short, all this does is tell the page to refresh every time the value of the LOV changes.

  • Partial result set in LOV

    I am working with BO XI R3 and back end as DB2.
    I am facing a partial LOV results set:
    From my analysis I have the following:
    1)This error occurs with a particular table
    2)The number of rows that are being fetched from the database are 44,018,911 rows (nearly 44 million) out of which 178,940 rows are unique ones
    3)These rows are not cached/stored daily. Hence each and everytime the report is run it has to fetch from the DB and bring it to the report.
    4)On the Universe front, checked with the Universe File-->Parameters tab and "Limit size and time" are unchecked
    5)On the report front there is no limiter for the number of rows.
    I am not sure but where the tuning has to be done? At the DB front (DB2 is my back end) or on the Universe front (BO XIR3). 1 ) Which would better 2) In case the tuning has to be done on the Universe front how does it need to be done?

    Are you getting this one on the Webi report Lovis or Deski Report
    If its a webi report you need to change in the Webintelligence Processing server Properties.
    The Default vales fro the Maximum List of values size entries is 50000 Lovs

  • SSIS and Update-Insert(Upsert) based on a SQL Server Result Set

    So on a weekly basis, I have to sweep a sub-set of our Member data. So my query is built to produce this result set. I then have to take that result set and compare it to a data table which contains all that same information that I have provided to a 3rd
    party vendor. So I need to take into account the following scenarios...
    Obviously, if the Member is new, then I have to Insert its row to what we'll call table 3rdPartyMember and create a row out on a 3rdPartyMemberAuditTrail Table
    Individually, I also have to manage if any of the following data fields have changed: Name, Birth Date, Addressing Information, Member Plan, Member Termination...and by Individually what I mean is that if the Last Name has changed, then update its row in
    3rdPartyMember and Insert a row to 3rdPartyMemberAuditTrail indicating "Last Name Change"...and similarly if Address Line 1 has changed..."Address Line 1 Change"
    So I guess my question is this. Should this be done in one whole Stored Procedure invoked by my SSIS Package or should it be done in pieces?
    Create the Temporary Table to house our weekly Member subset extract and result set
    Determine if the row exists on 3rdPartyMember Table and if it does not, Insert it
    If the row exists, determine if there is a First Name Change...Last Name Change...BirthDate change...Address Line 1 change...etc... If there is a change, Update 3rdPartyMember Table and also Insert a row to 3rdPartyMemberAuditTrail indicating the change
    Based on all this, I'm just not sure the right way to approach this...meaning should we create one big Stored Procedure to handle everything or each individual data point in my SSIS as an UpSert based on its lookup. I am new to the SSIS World and don't really
    know what the generally accepted practice is per se of creating and running an SSIS Package with multiple data point update steps or doing so in one big Stored Procedure.
    Also....if anyone know of some good YouTubes or web sites that would instruct me as to how to go about doing this, I'd GREATLY appreciate it.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    In my opinion using SSIS is quite a pain for Upsert-functionality, especially with your requirement of maintaining an audit trail.  With Google you can probably find 20 different variants all of which are quite complex.  I would go for the procedure
    version just to keep my sanity.  It is so easy to test and verify.
    I have been using an excellent Uppsert add on from Pragmatic Works Task Factory, but that would not help with the audit trail, though...
    http://pragmaticworks.com/Products/Features?Feature=UpsertDestination(BatchUpdateOrInsert)
    I recently discovered the CHECKSUM-function in Transact-SQL, it might simplify your code and certainly improve performance, if you have lot's of rows.
    Here is an example:
    create table member
    (id int primary key,
    name char(10) not null,
    address char(20) not null,
    checks int not null);
    create table member3p
    (id int primary key,
    name char(10) not null,
    address char(20) not null,
    checks int not null);
    create index xmember3p on member3p(id,checks);
    --create member3p_audit (...);
    insert into member values(1,'tom','new york',0);
    insert into member values(2,'mary','dallas',0);
    insert into member values(3,'marvin','durham',0);
    update member
    set checks = checksum(name,address);
    insert into member3p values(1,'tom','new york',0);
    insert into member3p values(2,'mary','chicago',0);
    update member3p
    set checks = checksum(name,address);
    insert into member3p
    select *
    from member m
    where not exists
    ( select *
    from member3p m3p
    where m3p.id = m.id );
    -- insert into audit...
    select m.*,
    case
    when m.name <> m3p1.name then 'x'
    else ' '
    end as name_change,
    case
    when m.address <> m3p1.address then 'x'
    else ' '
    end as adr_change
    from member m,
    member3p m3p1
    where m.id = m3p1.id and
    exists
    ( select *
    from member3p m3p2
    where m3p2.id = m.id and
    m3p2.checks <> m.checks );
    -- loop and update member3p and member_audit-- It's OK to update columns that were not changedupdate member3p set name = @new_name, address = @new_address;

  • Is column visibility based on the first page of the result set or the entire result set?

    I have tried, in vain, to play with the column visibility expression in my report. So where my Business Unit is "MC" or "FM", then I want to display column "HCFA Number"...otherwise hide it. If I run strictly for "MC"
    it works! If I run simply for "CO" it works! And doesn't show! But if I combine "CO" and "MC", it is hidden and I would expect it to be visible since "MC" is part of my entire report.
    Here's the expression I came up with for Column Visibility...
    =IIf((Fields!BUSINESS_UNIT.Value = "MC") OR
    (Fields!BUSINESS_UNIT.Value = "FM"),FALSE,TRUE)
    Am I missing something here or just being dense late on a Friday???
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    Hi ITBobbyP,
    It seems you have add parameter based on the "Business Unit" which is multiple values and when you select the "CO,MC" the entire column "HCFA Number" is hide, but what you want is to hide the CO related "HCFA Number"
    and show the MC related "HCFA Number", right?
    The expression you are using to show/hide the column visibility will based on the current filtered entire result set. That is mean the entire column "HCFA Number" will be show when the result set contains "MC" or "FM"
    or both, otherwise, it will always hide.
    In your scenario, you can set the row visibility using the expression and you will get the result like below:
    You can set the visibility of the textbox "[HCFANumber]", but the CO related "HCFANumber" will be blank:
    If I have some misunderstanding, please try to provide more details information about the expect result you want.

  • Af:inputListOfValues sets value of first item in result set when using enter key or tab and component set to autosubmit=true

    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.6 and when I type a value into an af:inputListOfValues component and hit either the enter key or the tab key it will replace the value I entered with the first item in the LOV result set. If enter a value and just click out of the af:inputListOfValues component it works correctly. If I use the popup and search for a value it works correctly as well. I have a programmatic view object which contains a single transient attribute (this is the view object which is used to create the list of value component from) and then I have another entity based view object which defines one of its attributes as a list of value attribute. I tried using an entity based view object to create the LOV from and everything works as expected so I'm not sure if this is a bug when using programmatic view objects or if I need more code in the VOImpl. Also, it seems that after the first time of the value being replaced by the first value in the result set that it will work correctly as well. Below are some of the important code snippets.
    Also, it looks like it only doesn't work if the text entered in the af:inputListOfValues component would only have a single match returned in the result set. For instance given the result set in the code: Brad, Adam, Aaron, Fred, Charles, Charlie, Jimmy
    If we enter Cha, the component works as expected
    If we enter A, the component works as expected
    If we enter Jimmy, the component does not work as expected and returns the first value of the result set ie. Brad
    If we enter Fred, the component does not work as expected and returns the first value of the result set ie. Brad
    I also verified that I get the same behavior in JDev 11.1.1.7

    I have found a solution to this issue. It seems that when using a programmatic view object which has a transient attribute as its primary key you need to override more methods in the ViewObjectImpl so that it knows how to locate the row related to the primary key when the view object records aren't in the cache. This is why it would work correctly sometimes but not all the time. Below are the additional methods you need to override. The logic you use in retrieveByKey would be on a view object by view object basis and would be different if you had a primary key which consisted of more than one attribute.
    @Override
    protected Row[] retrieveByKey (ViewRowSetImpl viewRowSetImpl, Key key, int i) {
        return retrieveByKey(viewRowSetImpl, null, key, i, false);
    @Override
    protected Row[] retrieveByKey (ViewRowSetImpl viewRowSetImpl, String string, Key key, int i, boolean b) {
        RowSetIterator usersRowSetIterator = this.createRowSet(null);
        Row[] userRows = usersRowSetIterator.getFilteredRows("UserId", key.getAttribute(this.getAttributeIndexOf("UserId")));
        usersRowSetIterator.closeRowSetIterator();
        return userRows;
    @Override
    protected Row[] retrieveByKey (ViewRowSetImpl viewRowSetImpl, Key key, int i, boolean b) {
        return retrieveByKey(viewRowSetImpl, null, key, i, b);

  • Implementing LOV based reports in ADF

    I'm a newbie to ADF and need to implement a ADF page where a change in LOV value will result in the following (without submit button) ...
    first case: refresh existing report (single report) which matches the new value.
    second case: show multiple reports based on LOV value. for certain LOV values, one report is shown, other LOV value, two reports should be shown. How to manage hide/show with different LOV values?
    Third case: Implementing a hierarchy report based on LOV value as connect by value in the query. How to implement hierarchica queries in ADF?.
    any ideas/pointers to examples are appreciated.
    Regards,
    Surya

    Hi,
    a LOV can be set to autosubmit its value change. Then in a ValueChangeListener that you configure on the LOV component pointing to a managed bean you can handle the selection change. You have access to the current selected value, which would e.g. allow you to query the business service for the reports to display. In addition calling AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(ParentContainerThatDisplaysTheReports); you can partially refresh the are that contains the displayed reports.
    Have a look here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31973/toc.htm
    Look for ValueChange event handling and Partial Refresh

  • Access Subform - Can the Subforms Source Object be defined by an SQL SP result set?

    Hi Guys,
    I can't clearly answer this question with a yes or no.
    I have an Access Sub Form that I am populating with a record set from a Store Procedure. Fairly early on I discovered that for this to work correctly the Source Object for the Sub Form Control must be set first, and most examples (including a working version
    of my own) achieve this by defining an Access Query and setting the Source Object to this.
    What I would really like to do is define the Source Object using the results of a SQL Store Procedure using ONLY code within VBA.
    Now before anyone starts providing alternatives "why don't you just..."  I'm noting now that I have a semi complex solution that makes most non-VBA based approaches ineffective. While it does work at present with an Access Query I'm needing
    to make the result set more dynamic meaning in future I will not know how many columns will be returned or the name of them, only the SP will have this information.
    Thanks in advance!

    Well after much trial and error I've got something which does what I want, although I'm not thrilled that I couldn't do this via my existing ADODB connections, in any case example provided below;
        Dim db As DAO.Database
        Dim qdf As New DAO.QueryDef
        Set db = CurrentDb()
       'qryMyTest refers to a dummy Access query (non pass through).
        With db.QueryDefs("qryMyTest")
            .Connect = CurrentDb.TableDefs("tblSomeTestSQLTable").Connect
            .SQL = "exec sp_MyTestSP"
            Me.subfrmTest1.SourceObject = "Query.qryMyTest"
        End With
        Set qdf = Nothing
    I've also marked your response Alphonse as an answer as it lead me onto the right path.

  • How to Create a new column from two different result sets

  • How do I create an Event Handler for an Execute SQL Task in SSIS if its result set is empty

    So the precedence on my entire package executing is based on my first SELECT of my Table and an updatable column. If that SELECT results in an empty result set, how do I create an Event Handler to handle an empty result set?
    A Newbie to SSIS.

    Depends upon what you want to do in the eventhandler. this is what you can do
    Store the result set from the Select to a user variable.
    Pass this user variable to a Script task.
    In the Script task do whatever you want to do including failing the package this can be done by failing the script task, which in turns fails the package. something like
    Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure

  • Problem in Retrive values from result set

    I have a class where i do all database operation .First i fire select query and take values from result set and based on that value i fire update query.
    Problem is that i am not getting all values from result set . i get only last value and when i fire update query i get error as :Resultset is closed.
    I am using acess and java.

    You probably are using the same Statement object for both queries? Try creating separate Statement objects for each query. (My guess is this a problem with the way you're using JDBC, not a Servlet issue.)

    Now we have a problem i.e. records have grown too high( millions ) and

    you can think of following options
    1) paging: read only few thousands at a time and maintain a index to page
    through complete dataset
    2) caching!
    a) you can create a serialized data file in server to cache the result set
    and can use that to browse through. you may do on the fly
    compression/uncompression while sending data to client.
    b) applet based solution where caching could be in client side. Look in

    Hi chauhan,
    You may want to narrow search criteria along with processing a
    limited number of resulting records. I.e. if the size of the result
    is bigger than a limit, you stop fetching results and notify the client
    that search criteria should be narrowed.
    HTH.

  • Creating a dynamic lov based on a column

    Hi,
    I want to create a dynamic lov based on a column in a database-table.
    Eg. the query
    'select code, description from code_table'
    is the contents of the column 'lov_query' in the table 'parameters'.
    For every parameter there can be a different lov-query, but the result is always
    two columns (code and description, number and name, etc.), exactly what you need to use in a lov.
    I've written a (dbms_sql) function that takes the parameter-id and returns the lov_query.
    create or replace function "GET_PMR_LOV"
    (pmr_id in NUMBER)
    return VARCHAR2
    is
    cur INTEGER := DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
    fdbk INTEGER;
    l_pmr_id NUMBER(9) := pmr_id;
    l_stmnt VARCHAR2(2000);
    begin
    DBMS_SQL.PARSE
    (cur, 'select pmr.lov_query from parameters pmr where pmr.ID ' || ' = 'L_PMR_ID', DBMS_SQL.NATIVE);
    DBMS_SQL.BIND_VARIABLE (cur, 'L_PMR_ID', l_pmr_id);
    DBMS_SQL.DEFINE_COLUMN (cur, 1, l_stmnt, 2000);
    fdbk := DBMS_SQL.EXECUTE (cur);
    fdbk := DBMS_SQL.FETCH_ROWS (cur);
    IF fdbk > 0
    THEN
    DBMS_SQL.COLUMN_VALUE (cur, 1, l_stmnt);
    return (l_stmnt);
    ELSE
    return null;
    END IF;
    DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR (cur);
    END;
    But now I'm stuck on how to pass on this statement in HTMLDB
    as an dynamic lov, I don't seem to be able to execute this statement
    into the two display and return columns. Any ideas?

    Hello again,
    This lov is on an updatable report-column where the user has to make a choice from an non-named, popup and query-based lov. In the lov-query box I have just put:
    "return get_pmr_lov(:p41_param_id)" (without the quotes ;-)
    Here's my latest version plus an alternative, which both seem to work fine:
    create or replace function "GET_PMR_LOV"
    (pmr_id in NUMBER)
    return VARCHAR2
    is
    cur INTEGER := DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
    fdbk INTEGER;
    l_pmr_id NUMBER(9) := pmr_id;
    l_stmnt VARCHAR2(1000);
    begin
    DBMS_SQL.PARSE (cur, 'select pmr.lov_query from paramaters pmr where pmr.ID ' || '= :L_PMR_ID', DBMS_SQL.NATIVE);
    DBMS_SQL.BIND_VARIABLE (cur, 'L_PMR_ID', l_pmr_id);
    DBMS_SQL.DEFINE_COLUMN (cur, 1, l_stmnt, 1000);
    fdbk := DBMS_SQL.EXECUTE (cur);
    fdbk := DBMS_SQL.FETCH_ROWS (cur);
    IF fdbk > 0 THEN
    DBMS_SQL.COLUMN_VALUE (cur, 1, l_stmnt);
    return (l_stmnt);
    ELSE
    return null;
    END IF;
    DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR (cur);
    END;
    create or replace function "GET_PMR_LOV2"

  • Creating a LOV based in a Web Service

    Hey guys...
    I need to create a Lov based in a Web Service Result, but in always getting the same error:
    LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query.
    Queries that I'm trying:
    Original Query:
    select extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgLocation','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgLocation"
    , extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgName','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgName"
    from wwv_flow_collections c,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(xmltype.createxml(c.clob001),'//getAllTemplateResourcesResponseElement/result','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"'))) t
    where c.collection_name = 'P1_GETALLTEMPLATERESOURCES2_RESULTS'
    Other Query that I tried:
    select imgLocation, imgName from (
    select extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgLocation','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgLocation"
    , extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgName','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgName"
    from wwv_flow_collections c,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(xmltype.createxml(c.clob001),'//getAllTemplateResourcesResponseElement/result','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"'))) t
    where c.collection_name = 'P1_GETALLTEMPLATERESOURCES2_RESULTS')
    And I tried creating a view, but I dont know where I have to put this.. Maybe in another process?
    create view as
    select imgLocation, imgName from (
    select extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgLocation','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgLocation"
    , extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgName','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgName"
    from wwv_flow_collections c,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(xmltype.createxml(c.clob001),'//getAllTemplateResourcesResponseElement/result','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"'))) t
    where c.collection_name = 'P1_GETALLTEMPLATERESOURCES2_RESULTS')
    Thanks

    Fox,
    I'd start by adding column aliases D and R to the query and see if that helps.

  • Error while retrieving result set in JTFGRID.

    Hi ,
    We have developed a custom form where there are various search parameters. Contract Number being one of them. The result set consists of various fields like Contract ID, Contract Number, Contract Number modifier etc.  This result is deriving its data from a custom view based on the contract id of the contract selected and populating in the grid.
    The issue is the result set is coming only for few contracts and for some it is throwing the below error:
    APP-JTF- 210604: Program Error: Please inform your system admin or support representative that:
    jtf_grid.populate package reports error :
    An unexpected error occurred  in jtf_grid.populate
    grid :<customgridname>
    datasource:<customdatasource>
    The following information is available
    <null>
    The error is most likely in the form or the metadata definition . Please check the following alert for the error code.
    The error stack is (first 1000 bytes):
    ORA-01722: invalid number
    ORA-06512: at "APPS.JTF_GRIDDB" , line 837
    ORA-06512: at "APP.JTF_GRIDDB" , line 878
    The datatype of the contract id of all the contracts is same. Not sure what the issue is.
    Please provide your inputs on the above. If this is not the correct forum for this query then please let me know the correct one.
    Thanks a lot,
    Ishani
