LOV with designer 6.0

Hi Everyone,
I have an old Designer v 6.0.3.6.0, conf 2.17 to develop my forms.-
My simply question (for who is familiarized with CS versions of Des.) is how i make Lov's?.
From the begginin i used the 6.1 version and there is a section where i can create the Lov's with the wizard, but in this version there is no wizard...
Thanks!!!

Gosh, I'm really wracking my memory here. I do remember that in 6.0 LOVs were not separate and reusable components. You had to define an LOV for each item individually - it was under the item in the module component.

  • Report module: LOV with two columns

    I would like to create a LOV with two columns in a designer generated report module.
    scott@ntw>select deptno, loc

        DEPTNO LOC
            10 NEW YORK
            20 DALLAS

            40 BOSTON
            50 LAS VEGASIs it possible to create the lov of the report module with an indivdual select statement?
    Does anyobody have an idea?

    Hi,
    There are probably a number of ways that you can handle this, but the underlying principle for all of these would be that you need to have 2 reports. The first report would contain the first ten records and the second report would contain the next ten.
    The way to do that would be to get the ROW_NUMBER() value for each line and, in the query defintion for each report, you would have a WHERE clause that restricted the results based on this value. The best way to do this would be to create a view and base the reports on this view. The view definition would include:
    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY xxxx) AS ROW_NUMBER
    where xxxx is the same order definition as the main ORDER BY clause. Each row will then get a ROW_NUMBER value that matches it's position in the query resultset.
    Your first report would then have a WHERE clause of:
    WHERE ROW_NUMBER < 11
    the second report would have:
    WHERE ROW_NUMBER BETWEEN 11 AND 20
    The final step would be styling/positioning the reports. The first would probably be in Column 1 in the region and the second in Column 2. You would almost certainly have to adjust the styling and/or positioning using a style attribute in the region/report definitions.

    I just got an iPad 2 and I felt in love with it. First time Apple user! Unfortunatelly, now I want to replace all my PCs products that I have. Could anyone tell me please if the I Mac desktop has touchscreem and works like the iPad 2?

    The iMac does not include touch screen capability.
    With an iMac, you can choose between a Magic Mouse or a Magic Trackpad. If you want both, there is an additional cost.

  • Migrating from 6i to 9i for form generating starting with designer

    I try to migrating our forms generating 5-6 years start with designer, but they are finished through form builder.
    When I tried to use migrating assistant wizard, I get
    LMDMANA.CG$WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE: The String CALL was found. If it is an occurence of the Forms Built-In, It should be replaced with CALL_FORM.
    Here is my LMDMANA.CG$WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE procedure
    /* CG$WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE */
    PROCEDURE CG$WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE IS
    BEGIN
    /* CGLY$INIT_CANVASES */
    /* Call procedure to ensure correct canvases are visible */
    BEGIN
    CGLY$CANVAS_MANAGEMENT;
    END;
    /* CGBS$STARTUP */
    /* Perform start-up processing for Block Synchronisation */
    BEGIN
    /* Set the defaults for the globals */
    :global.cg$query_mode := 'A';
    -- default_value('A', 'GLOBAL.CG$QUERY_MODE');
    /* Set the relations to the default query mode */
    CGBS$.SET_RELATIONS( :GLOBAL.CG$QUERY_MODE );
    /* Set the query mode items */
    CGBS$SET_QUERY_MODE( :GLOBAL.CG$QUERY_MODE );
    END;
    END;
    I posted it through metalink and I was told it must be regenerated through designer, and there is no way to do migration.

    Hi,
    actually you would upgrade the application sources from Forms 6i to Forms9i and then run teh Forms Migration Assistant for the clean up /this at least is my understanding after asking one of our Designer Product Managers).

  • Using LOV with Validation on the Numeric Fields results in Error

    Dear JHeadstart Team,
    During my work with lov I encountered another problem. I defined a lov and attached the lov to a numeric field and check the LOV for validation. Now when I use LOV using the LOV button it works fine but when I enter some numbers and then press tab the LOV was not shown correctly and resulted in the following errors and the worst thing is that you can not navigate to any other pages and all try to navigate to other pages results in errors too. When we put the same LOV on a string field (which is not desirable for us) it worked fine.
    It seems to me like a bug. Am I right? Is ther any solution or workaround for this problem?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Navid,
    We ran into the same bug and have the next workaround for it:
    We extended the JHeadstart class 'LovItemBean' and we have overridden the method 'validateWithLov(...)' with:
      public void validateWithLov(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent)
        Object newValue = valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
        if(newValue != null && !(newValue instanceof String))
          newValue = newValue.toString();
          ValueChangeEvent newEvent = new ValueChangeEvent(valueChangeEvent.getComponent(), valueChangeEvent.getOldValue(), newValue);
          newEvent.setPhaseId(valueChangeEvent.getPhaseId());
          super.validateWithLov(newEvent);
        else
          super.validateWithLov(valueChangeEvent);
      }Next step is to use a custom template in your JHeaedstart Application Structure file for 'LOV_ITEM_BEAN'. In this custom template you should use your own class as 'managed-bean-class' instead of the default JHeadstart one.
    Now you can safely generate LOV with validation of number fields.
    Maybe something the JHeadstart can pcik up in the next release of JHeadstart :-)
    Hope this helps.

  • Using LOV with bind var as custom attribute?

    I have an Portal LOV which uses a bind variable.
    Can I use this LOV as a custom attribute? If so, how do I specific the bind variable value?
    In the display option of the attribute I tried LOV_NAME(LOV_Bind => 'value'), but the LOV is not applied.

    It's been quite a while, but I think I remember trying this and not being able to achieve it. You can use a LOV with a bind variable in a report or in a form, or similar, but there is no way in an item to from specify where to get the bind variable. My suggestion if this is a requirement would be to use a portal form which submits to a stored procedure or pl/sql generated form to gather the attributes and then programmatically create the item using the APIs. Takes a bit of work, but gets you exactly what you described above.

  • LOV with subselect shows return_value instead of display_value

    Hi,
    I have the following dynamic SQL based LOV with a union in it that does not display correctly in the application.
    SELECT role_name d, role_seq r
    FROM apex_app_roles ar
    WHERE security_level = 1
    AND :F2500_APP_USER in
    (SELECT au.user_id FROM
    apex_app_user au,
    apex_app_user_roles auar
    WHERE ar.role_seq = auar.role_seq
    AND auar.user_seq = au.user_seq)
    UNION
    SELECT role_name d, role_seq r
    FROM APEX_APP_ROLES ar
    WHERE security_level = 0
    ORDER BY 1
    The problem I have is the first part of the SQL is displaying the return_value instead of the display_value. If I comment out the following the proper value is displayed in the application.
    AND :F2500_APP_USER in
    (SELECT au.user_id FROM
    apex_app_user au,
    apex_app_user_roles auar
    WHERE ar.role_seq = auar.role_seq
    AND auar.user_seq = au.user_seq)
    We currently have version 4.0.1.00.03 installed.
    Is there an issue with this version and what I am trying to do or is there something wrong with what I'm doing? The SQL returns the proper results if I run it in the SQL workshop so I'm at a loss here and if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    The value is correct. I can run the entire SQL in workshop using parameter substitutions and it returns all the values correctly. So running this
    SELECT role_name d, role_seq r
    FROM apex_app_roles ar
    WHERE security_level = 1
    AND :F2500_APP_USER in
    (SELECT au.user_id FROM
    apex_app_user au,
    apex_app_user_roles auar
    WHERE ar.role_seq = auar.role_seq
    AND auar.user_seq = au.user_seq)
    UNION
    SELECT role_name d, role_seq r
    FROM APEX_APP_ROLES ar
    WHERE security_level = 0
    ORDER BY 1
    returns all the rows and looks like this.

  • LOV with custom popup in af:query

    Hi,
    We have a use case where we need to display an LOV field in Search Panel (af:query). But, the LOV in Search Panel should be displayed with a custom popup.
    Is it possible display a field in Search Panel as input LOV with custom popup ?

    Hi,
    Is it possible display a field in Search Panel as input LOV with custom popup ?
    Yes. You assign a LOV definition to the attribute that then you display in the af:query component. You can also have dependnet LOV implemented this way. However, you cannot have a custom (your own) list of value popup dialog used
    See page 8 and following in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/jan2011-otn-harvest-300940.pdf

  • Creating LOV with Where clause

    I'm trying to create a list of values from a select statementsomething like this
    select customer_name, customer_number from customer
    where Region = 'WEST';
    I'm able to create a list of values of all the customers and numbers, but I could not
    create a lov for a specific subset of that data, such as in the where clause.
    Is it possible to create a LOV with a where clause?

    Use bind variables to accept the region parameter. Also, it is good practice to accept a null parameter value. If your parameter is null, display the entire list of values. Your query would look something like this:
    select customer_name, customer_number from customer
    where Region = :region_name or
    :region_name is null;

  • Fill the LOV with data during the execution

    Hi
    I am using Oracle 10g
    I want to ask please if there is a way to fill the LOV with data during the execution
    so can I change the query specified in LOV wizard during the execution and get a new record set according to the value in the text boxes
    thank you for help

    You can use the SET_LOV_PROPERTY built-in to change the record group of the LOV and to create a new record group you can use the CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY built-in.
    it will be something like this.
    RG_ID := FIND_GROUP('<record group name>');
      IF NOT ID_NULL(RG_ID) THEN
           DELETE_GROUP(RG_ID);
      END IF ;
      RG_ID := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY('<record group name>', '<your SQL statement here>');
      POP_GROUP := POPULATE_GROUP('<record group name>');
      SET_LOV_PROPERTY('<LOV name>', GROUP_NAME, '<record group name>');Use the online help for more information about these built-ins.

  • Bad performance when deleting report column in webi(with "Design – Structure only")

    Hi all,
    One of our customer has recently upgraded from BO XI to BO4.1. In the new BO 4.1, they encountered a bad performance issue when they were deleting a column in Webi(using "Design – Structure only" mode).
    With “Design – Structure only" mode,  it took webi about 10 seconds to complete after the customer right-clicked a report column and clicked the "delete".  The customer said that they only need to wait for less than 1 second when they did the same in BO XI old version.
    The new BO version used is 4.1SP02, installed in Windows Server 2008 R2. (Server with 32 core CPU, 32G memory)
    This bad performance happened in both Webi web and Rich Client. (in Webi Rich Client, the performance is a little bit better. The 'delete column' action takes about 8 seconds to complete).
    Do anyone know how to tune this performance in webi?  Thank you.
    Besides, it seems that each time we are making change in the webi report structure in IE or Rich Client, webi need to interact with Server site to upload the changes. Is there any option to change this behavior?  Say, do not upload change to Server for when 'deleting report column', only trigger the upload after a set of actions(e.g. trigger when click the "Save" button).
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eton.

    Hi all,
    Could anyone help me on this?  Thanks!
    What customer concerns now is that when they did the same 'column editing' action in BO XI R2 for the same report, they did not need to wait.  And they need to wait for at least 7-8 second in the BO 4.1SP02 environment for this action to complete.(data already purged, in structure-only mode)
    One more information about the webi report being editing is: there are many sheets in the report(about 6~10 sheets in one report). Customer don't want to separate these sheet into different reports  as it will increase the effort of their end users to locate similar report sheets.
    Regards,
    Eton.

  • LIST MANAGER - Replace popup lov - with stationary scrollable box

    Sorry... I thought this was Oracle 10g XE form...could you direct me to right form.
    LIST MANAGER - Replace popup lov - with stationary scrollable box...
    The end result would be: 2 scrollable list boxes separated by the word ADD / REMOVE. One to select from and the other box to act as collection box
    The popup LOV is quick and fast ..but is a little time consuming

    Hi user518110,
    1) please update your forum handler to a more friendlier name.
    2) I think your are looking for the Shuttle component in Oracle APEX, like on the following page http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=2672:2
    If you are using Oracle XE you are probably using Oracle APEX 2.1, you have to upgrade this version to Oracle APEX 3.0 which contains this new control. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html for details.

  • Combine Analysis with Design Studio

    Greetings,
    I know it's possible to export an Analsys Application from Analysis for OLAP. You can then open it in Design Studio to edit it.
    However, is it possible to "embed" an analysis in Design Studio?
    We would like to be able to swap the axis, drilldown, change the members, etc. and combine it with Design Studio layouts.
    If not, is there anything on the roadmap? This is preventing us to move from Bex WAD 3.x...

    Hi Nadim,
    with Design Studio and the scripting you are able to add so much functionality within your dashboards that I don't see that big gap between these two applications.
    For exampe: You can add a filter panel where you are not only able to set filter but additionaly chose which measures should be displayed and whether they will be added as columm or row.
    So it is possible within Design Studio to swap axis, change the members and do (little) drilldown.
    But for drilldown-functionality you will have to use scripting and it is indeed still not as good as in Analysis. So one of my wishes for a future release is to enhance the drilldown-functionality (without much scripting or using multiple data sources) like in Analysis.
    But you are right, DS is a tool to consume the data, many of these functionalities to analyse data have to be scripted which is some effort for each dashboard and every used query.
    Some more integrated analysis functionality would be great.
    (Maybe a better solution than to "embed" an anaylisis?)
    Nevertheless I would like to see some export/switch function to open a query in Analysis (for Office), too. You are able to integrate links to an external URL so why Design Studio is not able to add a link to the Analyis-Application?
    I know that some customers want to see their data in Excel, they would really appreciate the possibility to press a button to jump directly to Analysis for further survey of their data.
    Regards
    Steffen
