LOV with display Items

Hello,
i am very much New to Forms 6i
Please tell me that, can we attach a LOV with a 'Display Item' ..??

1) Create a display item named DISPLAY_EMPID and set the data type according to EMPLOYEE_ID.
2) Create LOV using LOV wizard and include any columns you want to see in the list. You may use query like below.
SELECT employee_id, name FROM YourTable3) In LOV wizard, click the "Lookup Return Item" button and select :YourBlock.DISPLAY_EMPID and FINISH.
4) Create a button just beside the text item.
5) Write below code behind the WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
DECLARE
  vtemp BOOLEAN;
BEGIN
  vtemp := SHOW_LOV('NAME_OF_YOUR_LOV');
END;It should return the selected value from LOV to the DISPLAY_EMPID.

  • Master/Detail problem: Infinite loop with display items

    Hi,
I have a strange problem in Oracle Forms 6.0.5.35.3. I create a master block and a detail block with correct relationship between them.
-> When the detail block contains at least one 'Text Item' everything works well.
-> When the detail block only contains 'Display Items', the form is looping
    indefinitely calling ON-POPULATE_DETAILS and QUERY-MASTER-DETAILS...
Is it a known bug ?
Do you know a trick to avoid this behaviour ?
Is it corrected with latest versions of forms, I mean 6i ?
    Thanks for answer
    Laurent Ricci

I think a block should have at least one navigable item. Just disable the insert/update property, but enable the navigable property for an item in the detail block.
    Hope that help

  • How to populate the LOV with warehouse item in Item Roles form

    Hi
Any one please tell me can we populate the list of values for warehouse items in the item roles form, if so please let me know how to do it.
    Navigation
    Go to OPM Inventory Control
    Go to Workflow
    Go to Item Roles
Opens a window Item Role Relation.
When I click on the LOV tab of Warehouse Item, it says list of values contains no entries.
    Thanks in Advance
    Prem.

This applies for Release 11 or before. (Not for R12)
Warehouse items are the OPM Items. When you define new item there is field warehouse item and by default it gets populated with the same item name. You can manually changed it to previously defined item name.

  • Create LOV with Header Items

    Hi,
This might sound as a weird question, but is it possible to create an LOV in ADF with section headers? e.g. a select one choice of employees where the employees are separated into sections within the LOV based on their department. It's because we've got a requirement on our hands to this effect.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. This helps us a lot. Just a query, for my personal information, would it be possible to acheive something similar if I were to use model-driven lists?

  • LOV on reference item displays as readonly

I have a LOV based on a reference item which displays as read-only. I want to make it updatable.
In designtime, the LOV icon displays but at runtime the item is display only.

No. There is also no need to, because i will not be updating the reference entity.
The set up is as below:
I have an Emp table with a Dept_id field which references the Dept table.
    i.e
    Emp Table
    Emp_id
    Emp_code
    Dept_id
    Dept Table
    Dept_id
    Dept_code
    Dept_name
I have a page where the user assigns department to the employee.
I have created a VO based on Emp and reference to Dept (through Dept_id)
A LOV has been created on Dept_code, which should return the dept_id, dept_code and dept_name.
In desgin time i see the LOV icon besides the field dept_no, but a runtime there is no LOV attached.

  • Convert Display Item to LOV

We have an application made with Developper 2000. In a block

  • Problem with Line Item display of G/L account

    Hi,
I am struggling with a typical problem that I have two company codes in two different countries.  I have created a tax account with Open Item management and Line Item display in both the company codes.
When I am trying to post vendor invoices, taxes are being posted on line item wise in one company code but not doing so in other company code eventhough the attributes of the G/L account are same.
G/L accounts, tax condition types and account keys are same in both the cases.
Can any body give me an idea to fix the problem.
    thanks in advance,

    HI,
check the condition types you've defined for the both of the countries
    sprofin accting-f/a gl sett-tax on sales/pur -basic settings-check cal procd--define cond types
there is a check box named item condition see whether it is ticked for the another company's condn type.

  • Opening Balance to be displayed along with line items

    Dear Experts,
Is there any way to display Opening Balance for a particular GL along with LIne Items. FS10N only provides Period wise opening balance and line items. If I have to select the line items for a GL in the middle of the period and see the opening balance, how is it possible. In FBL3N i am able to see only line items and no opening balance.
    Any suggestions.......................
    Raj.

    Hello,
FS10N you will see the balance and then double click on that to see line item. Again at line items you will not see the opening balance. There is no such facility.
If you want period wise balances, then go with
    S_ALR_87012172 report.

  • SM Portal display issue while creating incident classification with child items

    Hii,,
We need to create some incident classification with child items. After creating classification with child items, portal is not showing the classification properly and the page display not showing properly. i.e. showing a block with drop down instead of simple
drop down as same as for urgency. Please find the snapshot and suggest..
    Regards, Syed Fahad Ali

The portal flattens those lists, so sadly this is normal behaviour. I would assume it sorts the list according to ordinal which means you may be able to atleast get a list in the correct order.
    ex. Ordinal in paranthesis
    1. Hardware (1)
    1.1 Printers (3)
    2. Software (2)
    2.1 Windows (4)
I would expect this list to be flattened into
    Hardware
    Software
    Printers
    Windows
You see? In order to edit ordinal you would have to edit the list manually in XML. Tons of ressources on how to do that.

Please help as I am using APEX for the first time.
This my requirement during form dispaly in tabular format. There is one display item QA_TIER(not a database item). This item value is computed based on the condition below.
    I created a display item with :
Source Used : Always, replacing any existing value in the session state

  • Need - Search page with LOV based flexfield item as search criteria

Our requirement is to make a flexfield item as search criteria.
Flexfield is having 2 segments Applicaiton and Responsibility, where 2nd segment *(Responsibility) is dependent on 1st (Application).*
Accordingly, an LOV must get displayed for each flex segment in the search panel.
We tried to create a page having this flex (DFF) item as a search criteria, but cannot proceed to get results in results region - we tried to use both properties in the query region - resultsbasedSearch and autocustomizationCriteria:
Any ideas how to make a search functionality having LOV based flexfield items in the search criteria?
Any other suggestions regarding the solution are welcome.
    Thank you very much.

try a SQL query that uses bind variables as follows
    ... where column1 like '%:col1param%' and '%:column2%' like :col2param

  • Display item with HTML affected by dynamic action

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.1.1
I have a item P1_TEST set as "Display only", escaping special characters "no", and the source as pl/sql expression of
'hello <b>world</b>'I then create a dynamic action executing PL/SQL on click of a button.
    P1_TEST is listed in both "page items to submit" and "page items to return", and it doesn't matter what happens in the pl/sql code - it could just be null;
When opening the page, I see
    hello world
    as desired.
After clicking the button, the field contents become escaped and I see hello <b&GT;world</b>which is not desired.
Is this expected behaviour / a bug? Is there a workaround?
    Cheers
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
This was indeed a change of behaviour from 4.1.1 to 4.2 and has to do with how APEX handles input escaping (or when saving values into session state). I should say, we plan to revisit the current behaviour to make this more transparent and obvious, but that won't be for 4.2, for your information.
As you identified, the escaping is happening as part of the 'Page Items to Submit' functionality, so in other words when the item value is saved in session state. APEX has some predefined rules about when and when not to do input escaping based on the item type, and this is what has changed slightly from 4.1.1 to 4.2.
In 4.1.1, regardless of whether item values are set via the URL or via an Ajax call, the same rules applied for when APEX does input escaping. We always input escape the 'safe' item types. These types used to be documented in the 3.2 documentation, here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/sec.htm#CDDBBECI
(Obviously the item types have changed slightly with the consolidation of some of those into single items, with different settings. But hopefully that is still of use, and we no longer cite them in the same way in recent documentation so I couldn't link to something more recent.)
In 4.2, this behaviour was 'relaxed' slightly, such that this logic only kicks in when setting values over the URL, not for Ajax calls. This is why this is no longer an issue with your DA, because we no longer obey the same item type escaping in the context of an Ajax call.
As a workaround for 4.1.1, I would suggest to use a non-safe item type to set your value into (eg a 'Hidden' type), then use JavaScript just to copy that over to your displayed item. The 'unescape' function didn't work, because that does URL unescaping, not HTML unescaping.
    Hope that helps,
    Anthony.

  • How to display a JClient LOV with a empty textfield at startup?

    Hi,
we develop an application using JClient to connect a swing client to a bc4j middletier. In one special form consisting of three LOVs (3x label, textfield, button ->LovBinding) we want two of the LOVs to display a empty textfield when the form is opened the first time. The standard LovBinding shows the first row of the corresponding viewobject initially, pretending that the user already has chosen a value. Is there an (easy) way to override this behaviour?
And what to do in the following scenario:
The user chooses a value from a LOV, that value is displayed in the textfield. Now the user changes his mind and wants to be the LOV-textfield empty again. Currently there's no solution for this.
We can think of several workarounds, but none of them seems to be a good solution...
    Any ideas for that?
    Thanks,
    Torsten

Sorry, I try to be a bit more precise:
It's not clear whether you want the "Lov dialog" to show no selection on startup or the form that uses the LOV to display nothing in the "textField" on >startup?
Could you elaborate on this? A simple scenario may help. It's NOT the Lov dialog that should show no selection on startup. I wanted the textfield to display nothing, until I press the button which invokes the Lov dialog. The lov dialog allows me to select something and after pressing ok in the lov dialog I see me selection in the textfield.
    The scenario is the following:
Imagine a form showing a combobox which allows the select a special type of value, does not matter. Additionally you have a lov combination consisting of a textfield and a button. The textfield should display a lookup value which can be selected via a lov dialog, which is invoked by the button.
And you have a "calculate" button, which has no binding. This "calculate" button runs some kind of code that takes the value of the combobox and the value of the lov's textfield (if a value was chosen) and does something.
The problem is the "if a value was chosen". I like to see an empty lov's textfield to indicate that nothing has been chosen solong. If I press the "calculate" button after choosing a value in the combobox and having nothing in the lov's textfield, the lov's textfield should be ignored by the following method.
Again, if you are using JComboBox/JListBox for Lov, then the default windows key to clean selection is Ctrl+(Mouseclick on the selected row)
If you want to display/allow no selection in the JULovButtonBinding's LovDialog, you pretty much have to do this by providing a custom LovPanel instead of >using the default one and implement the "no-selection" logic there.
And in case of no-selection, set the currency on the LovRSI to no row (call reset()). Are there more shortcuts like Ctrl+MouseClick in JClient?
Ok, what I intended was the following:
We have the scenario described above. The user selects a combobox value, then opens the lov dialog by pressing the button, chooses some value and presses ok in the lov dialog. Now he sees his selection in the lov's textfield. But: he changes his mind and thinks it would be better to reset the lov's textfield to the empty state, before pressing the "calculate" button. Because there is no kind of reset for the lov's textfield, the user has no chance to do what he wants.
Question is, can you think of an elegant way to solve this problem?

  • Using LOV with bind var as custom attribute?

I have an Portal LOV which uses a bind variable.
Can I use this LOV as a custom attribute? If so, how do I specific the bind variable value?
In the display option of the attribute I tried LOV_NAME(LOV_Bind => 'value'), but the LOV is not applied.

It's been quite a while, but I think I remember trying this and not being able to achieve it. You can use a LOV with a bind variable in a report or in a form, or similar, but there is no way in an item to from specify where to get the bind variable. My suggestion if this is a requirement would be to use a portal form which submits to a stored procedure or pl/sql generated form to gather the attributes and then programmatically create the item using the APIs. Takes a bit of work, but gets you exactly what you described above.
