LR3 bug: Files from a folder with name ending with "." (dot) cannot be imported

This is a weird one Surprisingly, directories with names ending with a dot, don't show in the Import dialog and also cannot imported by using synchronization. So, if you have any folder named "Flowers, trees etc." ... you cannot import it.

And what happens if you delete the dot at the end of the folder name?

The best method is to use curl.
Other methods are not reliable, but can work, it depends on several factors (what the script does, what the user does).
Here is an example with the curl command:

I found an answer to my own question. A work around of sorts.
Download Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh. With PSE6 I made a slide show with 550 images 1920x1200, without thumbs. I ran into one problem making the slide show. My images contained 4 images which had not ben created by Photoshop and could not be included in the slide show. Opening the images in Photoshop CS4 and re-saving them still did not make then acceptable. Not a big deal. I probably could have fixed the four images by stripping all EXIF data before opening them in Photoshop. BTW, PSE6 made the slide show in demo mode.
I hope the bug in Photoshop CS4 will be fixed in Photoshop CS5.

Importing All the files from a folder at a time

We used an ant script to build an XML file that will contain the files. The script is configured to use the folder structure of our CVS repository.
We'd checkout our XML module and then run the build script and import the resulting init file.
Code to the script is below -- caveat emptor. You'll need to change the folder structure to suit your own environment.

Is it possible to pickup a specific file from a folder?

I am wondering whether it is possible to pick a specific file from a folder. I have a shape where I have got a filename and I need to look for it in a folder.
Is that possible?
And how can I achieve this? The next step is to pick the file up and transfer it to another location. So basically in pseudo code I need to ask my defined folder with a filename as parameter. Get the file and move it to another folder.

Assuming you are using orchestration, you could
create an assembly, install it in the GAC, add a reference to it in your BTS
project, and call it from an Expression shape to resolve the receive
location. You would only really need one static method in a class. Be sure
to add a reference to Microsoft.BizTalk.ExplorerOM.dll.

How can I sort files in a folder by name? iFS first sort files that starts with upper-case letter and then files with lower-case letter.
Like:
A_file
B_file
a_file
b_file
I want:
A-file
a_file
B_file
b_file
This doesn't help:

I do not think there is a way to do that without add-ons
There are a couple of workarounds I am aware of
* Add the bookmarks manually in the bookmarks library and choose the position. That is using Show all bookmarks -> open required folder -> select a position and right click -> add new bookmark <br />Rather a slow and clumsy process
* Sort a folder and copy it. If you sort the folder contents then copy and paste them they remain in that order when pasted.
There are add-ons but I have not tried them. For example

There will be others available and take note of the advice to backup bookmarks manaully.

I am not being able to play sound when I import a .MTS file from my folder

I am not being able to play sound when I import a .MTS file from my folder on my sequence bar of my Premiere Pro CS6. Even if I use my Media Browser to import the file, the video plays fine, but the audio is disabled it seems. I don't know what to do since I have used .MTS files before without hassle on CS5.5. It is quite frustrating. What can I do?

Please mention the Operating System that you are using and also make and model of the Camera that was used to capture those clips. Also, try to make another folder with the same name in the same location where the .MTS files are and move all the clips into the new folder and then try to import the files again using Media Browser in Premiere Pro CS6. If this doesn't work then make a copy of one file and rename it as .M2TS and then import that single file into Premiere Pro CS6. Please update if either of the solution works for you.

Moving files from one folder to another caused freeze

I now have a list of files stuck in the center of my screen.
I'm sure a reboot will fix this (I hope!) but I thought it was a bug worth reporting.
All I did was move a copy a collection of files from one folder to another folder. It made the "move" sound, and the files have been copied, but something clearly went wrong

Have java.io.File objects pointing to the three folders. Get the list of all the files in the folder. Start a loop and check if the filename ends with Data.dat. If it is so then copy file to the final folder.
To Copy file you can use any of the two approaches.
1. You can read that file as byte stream (java.io.FileInputStream) and write it to the other folder as bytes (java.io.FileOutputStream).
2. You can use shell commands to do this. (java.lang.Runtime.exe() method)

Thankyou Winston, you guess right. What i don't understand is why with the older version of mac os (10.9) i can organize my document into icloud folders using the Pages app window. But now with the new version i'm no longer able to do that. Using ipad in the same window there is no problem, but in mac os it doesn't work.

If you don't mind using GUI Scripting (you must enable access for assistive devices in the Accessibility System Preference pane), the following script should give you a reference to the last item added to any folder. Admittedly not the most elegant solution, but it works, at least under OS X 10.8.2.

The method below is used to read a file that is hard coded in the below method. What I would like it to do is to pick up files that are stored in a folder. The reason for this is that the file names will never be the same.

Move files from one folder to another

I am brand new to the application and have spent a ton of time googling various topics, but need some additional help. Seems easy enough, but I can't figure out how to do it...
I would like to move pics from one folder to another. I can drag files from one folder to another, but they still reside in the original folder as well. Is there a way to cut and paste or a similar function to accomplish this move?

Hey, HawaiianHaole, as a multidecade Mac user, let me tell you, Aperture is about the worst example of Mac-iness one could imagine. Ironic, as it's (of course) made by Apple. But it is so inflexible, and insists so vociferously on making the user learn its peculiar interface conventions it reminds me most of something out of that famous company in Redmond.
Want your Projects in an order you choose? Sorry! Want to arrange your windows so you can see your list of chat buddies while you're working in Aperture? Nope, can't do it! Aging eyes have trouble reading tiny grey type on a grey background? Hey buddy, it was your choice to grow old, don't blame us!
But all is not lost. Aperture has gotten considerably better of late (versions up to 2.0 were fundamentally unusable in many ways) and will hopefully continue to improve. (ie Maybe they'll fix the printing thing...)
Please don't make Aperture the basis for your judgement of the Mac OS. Many long time Mac users are having as much trouble with Aperture as you. Mac OSX has significantly reduced customizability but at the benefit of much improved stability and indeed usability. Old school Mac users had to learn to accept this, which most did. You'll hear people talk about the "Way of the Steve". As irksome as Aperture can be, you'll actually have a better time of it if you adopt the Way of the Steve, and accept that you can't do things the way you might want to. This is imho antithetical to the original Mac many of us knew and loved, but it's the way things are today, so we mostly shut up and take it. You can fight with your software all day, or just accept that there are ways you have to adopt and adapt to them.

Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

I suddenly can't move files from one folder to another in my FlashHelp project.

I have RH8 (8.02). I have been working on this project for a couple of years now.
What changed? I had imported a Word document and then removed the document and the folder it created from the Project Manager. Now I cannot move any of my files from one folder to another in the Project Manager pod. I susptected a corrupt CPD file so I closed the project, deleted the CPD file. Next I opened Robo from Programes (I never open from the .xpj file), went to Tools>Options and deleted the pinned most recently used project. Select Open, and locate/open the xpj file. I've also re-generated the output (no errors) and completed all these steps again. Of course Robo only goes haywire on me right before I have to publish for our new software release.

From what I'm seeing my own guess here is that RoboHelp is still believing that the content belongs to word.
I might suggest the following steps.
Open Winows Explorer and make copies of the HTML files involved. Then from RoboHelp, delete or remove the content. Then use the Import function to add the desired HTML files back into the project into the desired folder.
My thought is that by taking these steps you will have effectively disassociated Word and the topics should now be independent topics that RoboHelp should allow you to manage as you wish.
