LV 8.5.X: Converting String Data/Time to Timestamp

Hello again,
is there really no convenient way to convert a String Data/Time to an
Timestamp?
Thanks and greetings
Udo

You can use the Scan from String function:
Look at the bottom for an example. If you can't get the format string right, you can configure a timestamp control/indicator to what you need and then use the properties (right click) then select Advanced at the bottom to get the string you need.
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T
If you don't hate time zones, you're not a real programmer.

  • Convert Epoch Date Time to Date Time format

    I am trying to convert Epoch Date time in GMT to Human Readable Date time format in UTC. I used the one below but it returns just the date in GMT but how can get datetime in UTC ?
    select To_Char( To_Date( '01.01.1970 06:00:00','DD.MM.YYYY HH24:Mi:Ss') + STARTIME / 86400,'DD.MM.YYYY HH24:Mi:ss') FROM HQ_AVAIL_DATA_RLE;
    I refered a couple of forums and applied everything, but still I wouldn't get the timestamp.
    Please note that i'm looking for datetime stamp, not just the date.
    Thanks in advance!

The data (file attached) is in three columns (tab separated) and is in the format time/double/time (saved as a string with Write haracters to File.) When I try Read From Spreadsheet I get 0.0000 for column 1 and 2.0000 for column 3.

  • Problems converting FILETIME date/time into MM/DD/YYYY format...

    Has anyone successfully converted a FILETIME date/time value into a MM/DD/YYYY format using ColdFusion? I am failing drastically, and it seems like an easy conversion.
    FILETIME format (details: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724284(v=vs.85).aspx) is a 64-bit value representing the number of 100-nanosecond intervals since January 1, 1601 (UTC).
    A database I'm working with has such values, and I want to display them in a user-friendly date format within my application.
    For example, one record is:
    13003368600
    The above number represents the following date and time:
    1/22/2013 @ 2:50 PM
    Sadly I know this only because the FILETIME value gets written to the database by a third-party application, and within that application I specify it in the MM/DD/YYYY format.
    Can anyone offer me some guidance, or better yet has anyone accomplished this already and want to share code?

    I did this, on cf9/linux, and it seemed to do the trick:
    <cfscript>
    Long = createObject("java","java.lang.Long");
    Date = createObject("java","java.util.Date");
    fileTimeToEpoch =
    // take pwdLastSet From Active Directory, it's in filetime
    pwdLastSet = JavaCast("long", Long.parseLong("130292682204519505"));
    // take filetime and turn it into epoch/java - 1970/1/1
    // http://www.silisoftware.com/tools/date.php - converted: jan 1, 1970 00:00 -00
    javaTime = JavaCast("long", pwdLastSet - 116444736000000000);
    // convert to milliseconds
    javaTime = JavaCast("long", javaTime / 10000);
    today = JavaCast("string", Date.init(javaTime));
    </cfscript>
    <cfdump var="#pwdLastSet#">
    <cfdump var="#javatime#">
    <cfdump var="#today#">

  • Convert string to time?

    I have some time data being stored in a sting field that I need to make look like an actual time.  It's in 24hr style (HHMM), and I'd like it to look like 12 hr (HH:MM am/pm).  Is there a function already built for this?
    CR 2008, B1 2007, Win Server 2005
    Thanks.

    Stuart,
    You can use the cTime function to convert a string to time but it needs to be in the right format, for example 10:20:00.
    I would suggest using the left and right functions to extract the hours and minutes as numbers and then use cTime to convert.
    ctime( tonumber( left( ,2)), tonumber( right( ,2)), 0)
    You can then customize the format by right clicking on the formula > Format Field and selecting the time format without seconds.

  • Converting a date time to a date only

    Post Author: Dockman
    CA Forum: Formula
    I am working on a report that has a running total field.  The running total field keeps a running total and resets every time that a date changes.  the problem is that my dates include times, therefore the running total resets on every line.  How can I convert my date (in date time format) to be only a date so that it does not reset on every line?
    Obviously, I am not a programmer so I apologize if this is a stupid question.

    CA Forum: Formula
    if you are doing it inside crystal you can use the date functiondate({your.datetimefield})if you are doing it at the db level in a command this will vary depending on your db

  • How to convert string date to long (or Unix date)?

    I'm having difficulty in converting a user supplied date in the format mm/dd/yyyy to a long format such as 1035462807000. Since it's being entered by the user I can't just use the current system date. Any suggestions? Thanks!
    Dave

    Hi man, tsith Gave a good beggining, why dont you try the next code
    import java.text.DateFormat;
    import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
    import java.text.ParseException;
    import java.util.Date;
    public class DateToUnix{
        public static void main(String args[]){
            getDateAsLong();
        public static void getDateAsLong(){
            String sStartDate = "12/01/2002";
            Date theDate;
            DateFormat sdf= new SimpleDateFormat("MM/DD/yyyy" );
            try {
                theDate = sdf.parse( sStartDate );
            }catch(ParseException e ){
                theDate = new Date();
            System.out.println( "Converted Start Date:" + theDate.getTime());
    }No mather how you get a Date object, the value you are looking for is a long, and you can get it from such object with the getTime() method.
    Take a look at the Java API @ [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/util/Date.html#getTime()]

  • Php input date/time as timestamp with timezone

    This is a nightmare!!!!
    I have numerous databases, all of which use timestamp format
    date/times, which are easy to echo according to user timezone
    preferences using putenv ("TZ=".$_SESSION['MM_UTZ']); and echo
    date($_SESSION['MM_UTF'], ($whatever));
    The only problem is, I have only used these for stamping
    "date created" or "date edited" values using Time()
    What I am trying to achieve is:
    User 1 in UK enters date and time, using a javascript
    datetime picker (which normally enters data into field in Y-m-d
    H:i:s) and the php inserts this in timestamp format according to
    timezone.
    User 2 in US looks at date and time and this is echo'd
    according to his timezone.
    Sounds simple...
    I have managed to get so far with the new DateTime object
    which incorporates the user timezone preference ($utz)
    $ndttime= new DateTime($timefield, new DateTimeZone($utz));
    I can then echo this effectively using
    echo $ndttime->format('$utf'); ($utf being user timeformat
    preference)
    My stupid problem is trying to get the $ndtime into the
    database!!!!
    I know this sounds ridiculous but I use the DW insert wizard
    which only uses values from a form and if I echo $ndtime into a
    hidden field, it doesn't process this value in time.
    I attach the current insert script.
    Is this simple?
    Heeeeelp.

    This will echo as a date/time object - i.e. Y-m-d H:i:s, but
    the $utf variable is a session variable with user time format
    preferences, so it could be D, d/m/Y H:i:s or m-d-Y H:i:s

  • Converting String Date to Date Format

    Hope you can help, I am tearing my hair out. I have a 2D table that stores information. I have a field that records a date in the format 03-May-11 (this is a string). However, it is also stored as a number 40666 in a sortkey field. The string field is CLIENT2D.INFO1 and i have tried to use Date({CLIENT2D.INFO1}) to show as a date, which it does, until i want to use it as a parameter i.e. bring records between two dates. It errors and comes up with bad date format.
    Is the 40666 number Unix Time? If so is there anyway to convert this to a Date 03/05/11?

    Try
    CDate({CLIENT2D.INFO1})
