LVFPGA - Sampling Probe Watch Window - Label format as Enum

Hi,
Although I doubt the answer is yes, I'm still gonna ask you guys
Is it possible, when using Sampling Probes when simulating FPGA code on the Dev computer to display information as an Enum (obviously, I'm probing an enum). There are three different "Label formats" called Decimal, Hexadecimal, Binary, but no way I guess to display as Enum.
Would save part of my brain at the end of the day
Thanks for replies and have a good weekend

Hi Mathieu
Unfortunately at this time values can only be displayed as numeric values. This was a limitation of the Digital Waveform Graph used for the dialog we were aware of when the feature was added, but was not something we could deliver a solution to on that release's timeframe.

  • Probe Watch Window representation

    Hi,
During debugging, I'm often using the Probe Watch Window.
Is there a way to configure the Value so it will show the data on Hex representation instead of sign representation (for example, if the data is 0x"A1", I want to see "A1" and not "-95" as currently shows (161 in decimal will be good too))
    Thanks,
    Idan

As suggested, you can simply create a custom probe and set the Visible Items>>Radix option on the control in the probe. This will allow you to change the representation.
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lvhowto/creating_custom_probes/
Note that this can't be done automatically, because the representation isn't something which is part of the data, but just a way of viewing the data, so there's no way to automatically determine it. You could theoretically write code which will look at the diagram where the probe, find the source of the wire and use the representation of the source if it's a control, but it's probably not worth it.
If you want to do this a lot and want to create something which is easier than clicking the small radix box each time, you can also write code which will do this programatically inside the probe.
Try to take over the world!

  • FPGA Sampling probe display error

In LabView 2014F1, I discovered a very disturbing bug.  Take a sampling probe window I've been working with in order to ferret out issues with an FPGA sub-vi:
Scrolling left and right using the mouse results in changes to signal alignment! Which one is correct?  It's difficult to know...
Re-running the simulation (DEN based using a CSV file as a vector input) without touching the probe window results in a identically aligned signal set to the original window (But signals still shift vertically which is highly irritating)
This should be considered a critical bug given that the behavior is unpredictable and results in incorrect signal display. The probe window is critical to debugging FPGA code in LV2014 and if it can’t be trusted to display actual data relationships, it is entirely useless. It should never have made it into the production release of LabView FPGA in this condition.

I understand your frustration, in order to be able to report this bug, we need to be able to reproduce the error. I have tried zomming in and out and moving the scroll in the Sampling Probe Watch Window in my computer (2014 FPGA Module), but the lines do not lose alignment.
I was wondering if you could post a zip file with a simplified version of your code, that behaves as you describe, and the steps you follow to reproduce the issue in that code, so we can see the same behavior in our side?

  • How do I  "mask" or blurr out sections of movie clips saved in windows media format in After Effects

I was informed that I needed to use After Effects to "mask" or blurr out sections of movie clips saved in windows media format.
I have the movie clip in composition, I see the effects and presets drop box on the lower right.
How do I insert the text blocks to mask certain areas of the movie clip?

  • Watch Window greyed out

    Hallo
When running in debug mode I got the breakpoints in the code, everything with the watch window is greyed out, even if I right click on a variable the add to Watch is greyed out.
I've done a Tools ---> Import Export Setting ---> Reset defaults.
Probably must be installed or added or ticked to be enabled?
    Regards,
    labjac

    Hi labjac,
But from the screen shot, it seems that the breakpoint was not hit.
Maybe two screen shots would be better for us to discuss this issue.
I create a Winform app which will call another form in another winform app, if the breakpoint is hit, I could add a value to the Watch window like this screen shot.
I also debug the app, but if the breakpoint is not hit, I would get the same issue as yours, the watch window is greyed out.
So please make sure that the breakpoint is hit before you real view the Watch window. In addition, please open your Breakpoint window under Debug->Windows, maybe the breakpoint is hit in other projects in the same solution.
If still no help, please share me a simple sample with one drive, I will debug it in my side.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

    Trial and error.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but that pretty much encapsulates it. There is some, but not much, good wisdom out there, but it takes a significant amount of experience to be able to recognize it. The software development community if currently afflicted with a case of copy-and-paste-itis. And the prognosis is poor.
The solution is to be brutal to yourself and others. Focus on what you need and ignore everything else. Remember that other people have their own needs and methods and they might not be applicable to you. Apple, for example, can hire thousands of programmers, set them to coding for six months, pick the best results, and have the end-users spend their own time and monety to test it. If you don't have Apple's resources and power, think twice about adopting Apple's approach. And I am talking from a macro to a micro perspective. Apple's sample and boilerplate code is just junk. Don't assume you can't do better. You can.
Unfortunately, all this takes time and practice. You can read popular books, but never assume that anyone knows more than you do. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. It takes time to figure that out. Just do your best, ignore the naysayers, and doubt other people even more than you doubt yourself.

    2) How to SMI Label/Format a disk while OS Installation in Solaris 11.1?
As we know that ZFS is the default filesystem in Solaris 11.
We have seen in the Oracle documentation that for rpool below are recommended:
    - A disk that is intended for a ZFS root pool must be created with an SMI label, not an EFI label.
    - Create root pools with slices by using the s* identifier.
    - ZFS applies an EFI label when you create a storage pool with whole disks.
    - In general, you should create a disk slice with the bulk of disk space in slice 0.
I have seen the solution that using format -e, we change the labelling but all the data will be lost, whats the way to apply a SMI Label/Format on a rpool disks while OS Installation itself.
Please provide me the steps to SMI Label a disk while installaing Solaris 11.1 OS.

Oracle recommends below things on rpool: (thats reason wanted to apply SMI Label)

  • How to use custom label formats to display currency and percentage

    Hi There,
I need a pie chart to display both currency and percentage. I have the cell format editor open for custom cell formats (from the pie chart label format menu) but am not sure how to write the expression.
I've tried something like this but get an error:
    $ #,###  -  % #,###
How can I display both currency and percentage for the same label?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

labels built into Keynote can be displayed as percentage or value, not both
The choice is made in:   Inspector > chart > series > data point settings
the work around is to manually add text boxes with the currancy value entered in each box, as in $2.00

I, too, have found Bridge very unstable. I find this to be extremely disappointing, seeing as it's literally the most expensive piece of software I've ever purchased for personal use. I've seen these two symptoms:
    1. When running in full screen mode, Bridge crashes periodically. This happened on Vista, so I blamed Vista (of course), but even after regressing to XP SP2, I see the same symptoms.
    2. Although I didn't see this on Vista, running on XP I see the problem described earlier in this thread, where clicking on a thumbnail displays the wrong image preview. When this happens the image displayed is one from a different folder! I solve the problem by clearing the cache, and it's OK for a while, but the problem keeps returning.
    3. Even when exiting cleanly from Bridge (using File->Exit), Bridge often forgets where I was working in my previous session. I need to re-navigate from the very top level directory down through the hierarchy to my photo directory.
Again, it's very disappointing to invest so much in a single software package only to see such basic operations malfunction.

  • Changing openbox window label font.

So, i would like to use a custom font in my openbox theme, but i looked around on the arch forums and the openbox wiki and i can't seem to find how to change the font for the menu and windows label, does someone here know how to achieve such a thing ? Thanks.

Use obconf, or edit the /openbox/rc.xml file with your font changes

  • Siebel Tools 7.8: Watch window disappeared after undocking

    Hi everyone,
during a debugging session in Siebel Tools 7.8 I right clicked on the Watch window and deselected "Docked". Since this time the Watch windows has disappeared forever. I can activate and deactivate it, but have never seen the window again and I really need it for debugging scripts... Restarting Tools didn't help either.
Does anyone know what happened here? How can I get the Watch window back?
    Sebastian

Please check this SR on support web.

    Resolution:
The customer renamed the old Tools preferences file (devtools.prf) from the SIEBEL_TOOLS_ROOT\BIN directory to devtools.prf.old and the file was recreated by Siebel Tools when it restarted. The windows returned to their original settings.
Also refer to Using Siebel Tools > Customizing Your Siebel Tools Environment > About Development Tools Options, for further information on the devtools.prf file.

I've used windows to format my muvo nx, cause i didn't know i couldn't, now i can't play the files that I have uploaded into it what should I do to fix that?please help methank you all!

    miche978,
Did you setup the player to be in recovery mode?
. Connect your player to your computer while pressing and holding the Play button. Keep the Play button depressed for 5 seconds after the player is connected to your computer.
    2. After releasing the Play button, a dialog box may appear, prompting you to install a Player Recovery Device driver. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the device driver installation.
    3. Once the Player Recovery Device driver installation is complete, double-click the firmware upgrade .EXE file.
When the NOMAD MuVo NX Firmware Download dialog box appears, click the Start button.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the upgrade.

  • Flash debugger needs an expression-watch window

    Hi.
I would like to propose in next update of (CS4 or CS5 - if it hasn't yet implemented) to add an expression-watch window.
I want to use Debugger to find a bug, inside a movieclip, that has dynamic created other movieclips and I want to check some variables. Utilizing the debbuger as is now, for this case, is almost useless - I use trace() instead.
    I.e.
    var ny = mmask.y-DCs[Cur].y;
I want to see the value of DCs[Cur].y.
In order to see this, in current debugger, I have to:
    1. Check "Cur" variable. I.e. Cur == 5.
    2. Open Object "this" and find the DCs
    3. Open Object DCs[5], and search for y.
It's total timewaste... ...a "trace(DCs[Cur].y);" command is faster - and repeatable in any re-run!...
I never used the Flash CS3/CS4 debugger, because of the lack of such a feature. I don't know if it exist - if it is, please inform me on how to do it.
Add a "watch" variables window, that will allow expression that will refresh them.
It would be excellent - for debugging - instead of using "trace()" to dynamically check code and expressions, to add the "trace" string, into a window of the debbuger, and it to be validate automatically in each refresh (every step/forced refresh).
Thus instead of using trace() here and there in my code, with identifiers in the string, to know where the trace is refering, I would use the trace strings in that expression-watch window - organized in tabs (groups).
It would be great, if we could use and multiple tabs - to set groups of watch-expressions. (I.e. in C++, MSVC 6, had 5 tabs for such reason - and you could add more (and name them)). It also would be great, if those tabs and their watch-expression, could be saved into the file, during saving - thus then to restore them as is, during .fla loading.
I am hoping in CS5 to have add that feature.
That would be a great power for Flash Debugger (replacing trace() with Debugger UI tracing window -> expressions-watch window!), and it would be a really good reason to use it - and/or buy Flash (instead of free applications) for that professional reason.
Btw, also please add the feature to saving the Actionscript Tabs into the .fla file!... It's annoying thing, everytime i am reloading a .fla file, to have to re -set the Actionscripts tabs, in order to continue my work!...
Ps. If this message, is not going to be seen from developers of Flash, please tell me where to add the aboves suggestions for future updates of Adobe Flash - or add them, yourselves!

  • Printer device group and a label format in SAP AII

    Hello @ all,
I try to configure a SAP OER System with SAP AII. Now I should configure the label printing with the transaktion /AIN/ASGN_PRF_FORMAT. I must take a profile name, a printer device group and a label format. The problem is now, that I can't chose a printer device group and also I don't know the label format. Where can I adjust the printer device group and which label format must be in that field?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you.
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
SAP AII sends the label format filename as part of the Command message xml to the printer during tag commissioning.
I assume you have configured the label format filename for SAP_PRINT_PROFILE using transaction /AIN/ASGN_PRF_FORMAT - Assign Format to Printer and Profile
Now you have to assign that profile to an ID type or GTIN, etc. using the menus under Profiles for Tag Commissioning and Label Printing.
Once this configuration is done, the xml command message containing the element WriteTagData is sent to the printer RFC destination configured against the Device controller as an HTTP message.
This command message will contain the label format and  field names - value pairs as per the SAP_PRINT_PROFILE.

  • Data label formatting for SVG charts seems to have a bug in 1.6.

Could you take a look at
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=20794:1
The first chart does not have a format mask and the chart works correctly. The 2nd chart is an exact copy of the first chart, but has a Data Label Format mask. I have tried several different format masks and they all cause the chart to only display one bar.
By the way, this worked correctly in 1.4. I discovered it on moving an application to 1.6.
    Thanks

    Doyle,
you can work around the problem by getting rid of the data format in the page definition and applying your own formatting using the TO_CHAR function.
You could even make it dynamic by storing the data format in a page item, picking it from a static LOV for instance.
That would allow a user to choose the preferred one.
If you don't want to give the user this flexibility, then you can store the mask in a hidden item, so that you can make the feature available at a later stage of development.
    Bye,
    Flavio
