I took it to a regular computer repair center and they said its an issue with the 1*8 gb and 1*2 gb totally 10 gbs i put in and then i replaced the 8gb with the old 2 gb that came with the computer and the issue is the same.
I tried reseting it to factory form that took 3days to download os 8 .  and finally stopped by itself.
I don,t know if i had to take it to apple store?

Thanks for these suggestions: I have tried safe mode re-starts (both "verbose" and simple "shift" + power) to no avail.  I get the error message "disk0s2: media is not present".  Following this I inserted the installation disc and from there ran disc utility.  The "Verify Disk" indicated an error " invalid sibling link" which it could not repair.
I also tried to completely re-format/erase the disk, but again got an error message "disk object invalid or unable to serialize".
Any ideas of what could be causing this or the best solution?  I fear I am fast running out of options.

  • Hi! My MacBook Pro won't start! HELP !!!

Hi! My MacBook Pro won't start! I have tried everything I can think of like Safe Mode (doesn't work), Recovery (does not find Recovery Drive), Booting with OS Snow Leopard Cd (doesn't work)...
I have really no clue about what to do now... I paid quite a lot of money for this computer and am pretty short of money nowadays! Would like to repair with help rather than having to take it to Apple Store.
Has anyone had this same problem?
All I get is white screen + grey Apple and spinning grey disk...  it's 100% frustrating! Any help would be more than welcome since I think i've tried EVERY SUGGESTION on this Support Center and Youtube videos...
This MBP is from 2011, runs on OS X 10.6.8
I tried booting with OS X Snow Leopard CD, it didn't work!  (my cd player works! recognizes the Snow Leopard CD, but then never opens it... goes back forever to the with screen + apple and spinning disk)
I don't care about the content, it's OK if i lose all DATA... I just want to bring this Mac BACK TO LIFE!
When i run coomand on root# fsck -fy  --> RESULT = my HD was checked and seems to be FINE!
    Thanks

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Macbook pro doesn't start up anymore

Guys i got a pretty big problem. My 1st gen macbook pro doesn't wanna completely start up anymore. When i press the startup button, I get the bong and when the apple logo appears, it suddenly restarts. So the bong appears, the apple logo shows up and then it restarts again: this keeps on going and i cant stop it unless i pull out the battery and power plug. I have no idea how this is possible: I did nothing unusual with my computer. The only alarming thing that happened before this was a kernel panic. After restarting my computer everything was fine and the mbp seemed to have recovered. So I then left it as I went for dinner and when i came back, the screen was black en frozen. So I turned of the mbp and then it wouldnt start up anymore!!!
    Can anyone please help me!!!

Place the OSX installation DVD that came with your computer and hold down 'C' during the restart. That should open up the installation/repair screen. There you can check your volume and repair it through Disk Utility. If you can't fix your drive here, you can restart your machine in target mode and backup your drive (given that you have another computer to back it up to) and then hard-format and reinstall. This might be a long and hard process but it should solve your problems. If you have more questions, just post.
    Cheers-

  • 10.5.4 installed, Macbook Pro doesn't start up

    Hi,
I just installed 10.5.4 via Software Update. But now my Macbook Pro doesn't startup correctly anymore. I hear the start up sound then the white screen with apple and the spinning wheel. Then then fans start to grow louder and louder until the whole unit just shuts down and is off.
Has anyone already experienced this problem? Please help.
    Thanks.
    Best Rob

The combo update is only available from the Apple download site. The link is in one of the other 10.5.4 threads. Software update only uses a delta update.
Try booting in the safe mode, hold down the Shift key while booting. If you get to the login screen, don't login but hit the restart button. That should allow a normal boot - it forces a disk repair.
Otherwise, boot into the Leopard DVD, select the Utilities menu and run the disk utility from there and repair HD and permission. If that succeeds, you should be able to boot normally.
The update may have actually succeeded but the cleanup failed.
If you manage to get back into your system, check the version of your OS. It may be 10.5.4
If all else fails, you will need to restore your previous system using TimeMachine, although usually one of the above techniques will usually result in a bootable system without needing major surgery.

  • My MacBook Pro won't start! HELP!

I've been away for two weeks and haven't used my MacBook Pro.
When I was about to start it again yesterday it won't start!
I get the start sound and then it freezes on the first picture with the Apple and the wheel.
I tried several times and I waited for almost an hour but nothing happened.
The computer is about 3 years old.
    Can anybody help me?

Will my hard drive be erased when I do the recovery?
Merely booting into Recovery won't change anything. Depending on what you do next, your data might be affected, so you have to back up first if you haven't already done so.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup; 10.7 or later), from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup; 10.7.2 or later), or from your installation disc (C key at startup; 10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't start - harddisk is not working

I am desperate. My girlfriends MacBook Pro unibody, with OS Leopard doesn't start any more. It shows the grey screen with the apple, but that's it. I tried resetting the NVRAM - it didn't help. I tried starting in Safe Boot mode - it didn't start. I have booted from the installation DVD and run Disk Utility, but it doesn't even see the partition and all the buttons to Repair or Verify the disk are grayed out. And the System Profiler doesn't see the disk, but instead just gets stuck while trying to read it.
After all this I did a deep Hardware test, but it didn't find any problems.
I suppose then that the partition, but not the harddisk is corrupt... any ideas?
And one more question: is there a way to save the data from the harddisk before trying to erase and reinstall the system, or taking it to the service?

Try putting it into Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
To try to read it's drive, or put another Mac with Firewire & a comparable OSv in T mode, hold the Option key down when booting the MBP to see if it'll boot off the the other Macs drive.
    Long shot, but...
Either boot this one in Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
And recovering from another Mac, or booting this Mac from another HDD, then using Data Rescue...
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
(Has a Free Demo to see if it could or not, but you'll need another drive to recover to).

  • Macbook pro doesn't start after a long time of inactivity

    hi,
MAC OS doesn't start when I switch on my macbook after a long time of inactivity. The HD seems to turn, the non activity led is on but nothing on screen.
I have to switch off the machine by pressing the start button during five seconds and then switch on again to launch MAC OS without problem.
the problem doesn't appear if the macbook has been switched off for a short time and only appears after a long time of inactivity
I dont'know if their is a hardware problem? can somebody help me?
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    hello,
I have a the problem when the MBP is in sleep mode too for one hour for example. It doesn't wake up and the behaviour is the same as a power on.(power ok, hd turns , blank screen, activity led on, no launch of MAC OS)
I call apple support . They told me to look at the ram stick in order to find if the ram is in good place.
No differences , the problem is still present after disconnection an reconnection of RAM.
did someone find a fix at this issue?
    thank you.

  • Macbook Pro Shuts Down / MacBook Pro Doesn't Start Properly

I just had this problem today. When I tried to wake the macbook pro back from sleep, it didn't wake up, after closing and reopening the screen several times. Thus, I forced quit it by holding the switch button. Now, when I tried to start the macbook pro, the computer automatically shuts down in less than 3 seconds. I have tried resetting the PRAM and all that stuff but they don't seem to work. Has anyone had this issue before?

I am having this exact problem. In my case, I shut down my MBP before going to work. Once I reached work, I tried restarting and it shuts down almost immediately. I've already tried most solutions, but as I am at work, I have not been able to try the cd solution. Any help would be welcome as I do not want to have to reinstall the OS.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't starts and only sounds a beep

Does anyone know what to do?

I had this happen before on a fairly NEW macbook pro. Ended up, the hard drive was blown. I just ended up getting a hard drive. It worked for almost a year and then boom I try to start it up and get this. And I tried to reinstall mountain lion, etc, and it'd let me get through the install process which made me think the hard drive DID in fact work. But then as soon as it was reinstalled, boom the hard drive gone again.
I put in a new hard drive. Flawless. No problems. So in my case it was the hard drive. Although many many other people told me it was not the hard drive. If it wasn't, replacing the hard drive fixed it either way.
It had a toshiba branded in it. I put a western digital 1TB in it. Worked great. Now I have an even newer macbook pro, 2012 edition, once again I took out the hard drive and put in SSD's.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't start up to Apple Diagnostic

I have the issue that after an Adobe Flash update the Facetime/iSight camera is no longer recognized by the system. System profiler claims that there is no camery installed. the day before I had a nice Facetime call. See Here: Adobe Flash update killed iSight camera
And to find a solution for my problem I read some Apple troubleshooting docs and Diagnostic could be helpful to find out if the cam is really broken or if its a bug.
But OSX 10.10.2 prevents me from starting up to Diagnostic mode. When I hold down D the gray screen last for 60 seconds and boots as if I haven't pressed anything. But the MBP delays the start for the time I press D. I press when I hear the sound and before the gray screen appears. Is there an issue with the startup keys?Startup key combinations for Mac - Apple Support
And because there are not enough problems the battery seems to reach the end of life. I wondered if this is no accident that the battery and the cam broke at the same day. Will the cam work when I replace the battery? Its frustrating that the battery only has 270 cycles. Apple claims 1000 cycles to be appropriate.
I have no luck with my little 13'' MBP. In December 2013 the housing top case and the logic board needed to be replaced because the USB ports didn't work. And now as the APP ended in December 2014 all this s*** happens now.

An early 2011 MBP came with Snow Leopard installed.  Use the #2 disk that has the Apple Hardware Test instructions written on it.
You might also try OPTION + D on start up.  Sometimes that works.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't start from internal disk. How to?

    Hi.
My Macbook doesn't startup. I tried to repair it but it isn't possible and now I need to do one last backup copy before format it. But it doesn't pass from the grey apple screen.
I've checked the S.M.A.R.T. and it is OK. What else can I do to start from the internal disk on last time?
    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Telmo

Hi. Yes, I did. It goes on and on with the grey apple screen.
I just need it to boot one last time to save one Word document that I didn't had the chance to backup.
The internal disk appears on the disk utility when I star from the install disk and I select it to boot but when restart nothing happens.

Mac's are very very particular about the Ram they use. Mac's historiclly only seem to like top of the line when it comes to Ram.
    http://www.crucial.com
    or
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/
Both of these are considered the top of the line in Ram.
I have been in computers since 90 and I am not at all familiar with Lexor Ram
