Macbook pro heating up during using aperture 3

I have a new macbook pro with I-7 processor.  When i am using with Aperture 3 its seems to heat up a great deal when I am scrolling through pictures or importing new images.  The file sizes of my images are large, is this causing the heatup and is this normal.  I have the computer on a hard surface when I am using it.
Thanks

This heat issue is setting laptops back decades. Instead of burning the hair of my thieghs (through my jeans or Levi's) I place a large coffee table style book under my computer. The combination is heavier than Apple's first Powerbook. I can't wait to hear about Apple's new software in June, I'm even more excited at the thought of new software compatible hardware.

  • 2010 MacBook Pro freezes up during use with black screen

I have an i7 Mid 2010 MBP with 8GB of RAM, SSD and 10.6.8.  It has been freezing up on me with a black screen and looping audio, and I have to hold down the power button to reset it.  It seems to freeze most when I have either Firefox or Parallels open.  Does anybody have any idea what would be causing this?  If I were to post the Error Report here, is there any information in it I should delete first so that I don't accidentally show everybody my personal information?  Thanks.

Satchow, I have the same problem!!!
It's hard to believe that I spent 4.500 dollars in a notebook from a company with such fame and with this huge fail.
What are they going to do about it? Gave us a new one? Its not our problem.
Apple Inc. have to make a recall!!! What do you think about it, my friends?
    Regards,
    Rodrigo TP

  • MacBook Pro Heat in Apple Manual

Appendix B Safety, Use, and Care Information 107
    Using Your MacBook Pro
When you’re using your MacBook Pro or charging the battery, it is normal for the bottom of the case to get warm. For prolonged use, place your MacBook Pro on a flat, stable surface.
Do not leave the bottom of your MacBook Pro in contact with your lap or any surface of your body for extended periods. Prolonged contact with your body could cause discomfort and potentially a burn.
The bottom of the MacBook Pro case functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the computer to the cooler air outside. The bottom of the case is raised slightly to allow airflow that keeps the unit within normal operating temperatures.
In addition, warm air is vented from the slots in the back of the case.
Warning: Do not place your MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material when it is on, as the material can block the airflow vents, in particular the rear vents, and cause the computer to overheat. Never place anything over your keyboard when operating in closed-lid mode. This can cause your computer to cycle on and off which might create excessive heat and drain your battery. Never turn on your computer unless all of its internal and external parts are in place. Operating the computer when it is open or missing parts can be dangerous and can damage your computer.

Just an observation - I believe people when they say
that some MacBook Pro's run VERY hot. If I had one
that ran as hot as some are saying, I would not see
that reading the manual made much difference to me.
Also it is appearing there may be some reasons why
some are running hotter than others (heat sink
compound issue). Even if the manual clearly states
this it "appears" there is still a heat related
issue. I have a hard time understanding why a few
people can't see the reaasoning behind that. Then
there are some that say that all Macbooks whine even
after so many people have said they have one that
doesn't and have had several people test these, young
and old. My conclusions after reading this posts are
there are some that whine, some that have heat
problems and many that are having neither of these
problems. Why is that SO hard to believe ? And thanks
to the good explanation about our expectations in the
    previous post. Very well said.
I believe it's the same with the new airport extreme card. Mine disconnects much more frequently than the other person in my office who has the same configuration macbook purchased at the same time. (And it's not the airport express we're running off of because mine disconnects at home too)

  • My macBook Pro heats up so hot and nearly burning my lap

my macBook Pro heats up so hot and nearly burning my lap.  Anything wrong with it?  Should I bring it to Apple store?

Here's a search of cooling pads for MacBooks. I use one that just elevates my MacBook Pro off my lap so air can circulate between my lap and it...... letting the Mac's fan work best. You have to keep the air from being blocked going in and out of it and clothing and blankets interrupt that.
MacBooks tend to heat up if you are taxing it with video games and steaming videos, etc.. Maybe yours is at the age where the battery may be on it's way out. When mine neared the end of it's life it heated up quite a bit raising the temps for the whole machine.
Here's the free Temperature monitor. Maybe it can point to something.

  • MacBook Pro unable to broadcast using Camtwist on Justin.tv or Ustream.tv but why?

I have been doing live broadcasts fro years on older computers but I am unable to preform live broadcast on my new MacBook Pro and I could use your help in figuring out why.
Unsolved Problem:I need to be able to broadcast from CamTwist as CamTwist is the only program that will allow me to do what I need to do.   Justin.tv and Ustream.tv do not recognize CamTwist for reasons I can not explain.
I know that Justin.tv and Ustream.tv should recognize CamTwist because I currently have several  computers that are using CamTwist to broadcast  on  Justin.tv and Ustream.tv.
I just want to be able to broadcast live streams from my MacBookPro
I have tried to broadcast on sites like justin.tv and ustream.tv just like I have done in the past on other computers but no luck on my MacBook Pro.
Here is the hardware and software I am using and have tried…
    1.  Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro6,1

I have a built in Isight that does work, but not with live broad casts.  I can confirm my isight in many apps
    2. Software Mac OSX 10.6.7
    3. Apps at my disposal. ( I have done al the most recent updates)
    (a) Firefox 4.0.1
    (b) Safari 5.0.5

    (d) ManyCam v 1.0 (unable to find version 2.0 of manycam)
    (e) CamTwsit v 2.1
    (f) Quicktime broadcaster

I am now able to do live broadcasts with my i-sight, but my original problem still exisits....

I have the G Drive 1 TB (GEN4 1TB) external drive purchased in 2010. I need to connect to my new MacBook Pro. I'm using the external drive for media storage of my video editing projects. Will a 800fw to thunderbolt adapter cable work? I understand that using a USB port connection is not fast enough for video editing. I read somewhere the G Drives don't connect well to MacBook Pro.
    thanks

I doubt this can be relocated or moved so you might want to just repost in the macbook pro area.

Can you afford a new Thunderbolt case and cable? any case with FW800 is going to be slow 72MB/sec and less, and any new 1TB drive is capable of 75MB/s minimum up to 125MB/sec.
Thunderbolt storage can of course when setup properly reach 100's of MB higher using multiple drives.
Use what you have for a system backup or for secondary backup storage.
you might be able to take the drive - most cases allow you to open and swap drives - and use this:
    G-Technology 1TB G-DRIVE mini High-Speed Portable Hard Drive

  • Macbook pro. app tries to use flash player and get " Blocked plugin" how to uninstall and reinstall flash player. update does nothing ?

Wife has an older MacBook Pro. when an app uses flash player "Blocked plugin" comes up. I don't know much about mac, tried to update flash player and get newer version already installed, and update and still get same message. How do I uninstall flash player and reinstall?

Sounds like it is blocked for the website you are at. Check with this:
You can quickly test whether a recently added plug-in is causing problems by blocking it.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Security, then click Website Settings next to Allow Plug-ins.
Select the plug-in you want to disable on the far left, then click each pop-up menu on the right and choose Block. For some plug-ins, you see pop-up menus for different websites, and you can choose to block each one individually. Use the “When visiting other websites” pop-up menu to block all other websites that don’t have individual settings.

When I click on the 'help' key in the elements 12 program it wants to open it in Firefox2. Firefox doesn't work on my Macbook Pro Air. I use Safari. How do I get it to open?

Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it.

  • I'm waiting for my new iPhone 5s to be delivered. I lost my iPhone 5 but did have it backed up on my MacBook Pro. I was using iOS6 at the time. Will I have a problem restoring the data to my new iPhone 5s assuming it will come with iOS7?

No, you should not.  There are problems trying to go the other way, but updating a newer iOS release from a backup of an older iOS release has always been supported and is the basic means of setting up a new device from a previous one.

  • I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account?

I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?

On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out."  Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.)  Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.
    Hope this helps.

  • I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc.  Any help...  From my PC I can only access "internal storage"

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone.  The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality

  • I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • I recently got a hand-me-down Macbook (white) 2010 and want to restore to factory settings. The computer did not come with any discs. It is running 10.6.8 and I purchased 10.6.3 recently to upgrade my MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook?

I want to give the hand-me-down to my kids so they will stay off my MacBook Pro I'd like to start fresh with the MacBook, remove all the former owners information, restore it to factory settings, but it did not come with any installation discs, so I don't know what to do. I recently purchased Snow Lepoard for my 2008 MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook? Also, the former owner purchased Microsoft Office (ugh) with the computer but again, no installation discs. How do I keep that when I restore?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I purchased a mini to HDMI cable and tried to connect to the TV but the TV is not recognizing the computer. I attempted to set sound and display settings under the "my Preferences" utility with no success.  Again, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my OS software Any Suggestions?
