MacBook Pro Model 1297 Battery Replacement
I have a mid-2009 unibody 17". Is the A1309 replacement compatible? Can't seem to find an original A1297 battery that looks legit. Amazon and eBay advertise the A1309 as a replacement, but the original1297's 13000 mAh rating differs from the 1309's 11200mAh. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I would not even consider getting a new battery put in your machine unless one you have a warranty and two you have all Apple parts in your computer and no third-party replacement parts. After my experience today I wouldn't even think about going to the Apple Store.
I am so discouraged. I went into the Apple store a few days ago, and told more than one rep that I know I needed a battery they did a test and they verified it. I told them I had a third-party battery in there now and I had replaced a lot of parts because I like my computer and I don't want to buy a new one. But nobody mentioned to me that if I ordered a battery in the store they would not put it in. In fact they knew I had a third-party battery and told me to order it and they they did order for me. I ordered the battery and I came in today to get it and they refused to put it in because I had a third-party battery in there and other third-party parts like a new hard drive. They don't even use their own hard drives anymore I read. And I said okay I'll buy the battery and I'll take it out of the store I'll never bring it back I have other people who can put it in and they refused absolutely refused even after I talked to the store supervisor.
I find this so disgustingly discouraging. It's my computer and if I want to take it out and replace my part that's my business. They're concerned about the fire hazard on the battery. You know I'm not concerned about it I saw online on YouTube how easy it is to replace that battery.Like everything else I run into these days it's all about money it's all about lawyers and it certainly isn't making life user-friendly. I may even have to buy a new printer because the new Apple system, Mavericks, does not have a driver for my Canon which is a few years old. It's all about obsolescence so we have to buy more products. That may be understandable but not everybody can do that and some of us like keeping our current computers and machinery going specially when there's nothing wrong with them and they are working.

Macbook Pro 1,1 Battery Replacement for cheap
Hi, does anyone know where they could find a replacement battery for the Macbook Pro 1,1 15 in for me. Its the late 2006 model. Thanks!
JjizzleNo, batteries are consumables, and are not covered for three years even if you have AppleCare. If a battery is defective, the defect will nearly always show up during the first year and need to be addressed then. Defective batteries are dealt with by Apple on a case-by-case basis, considering their ages, cycle counts, charge capacities and any physical deformations. As I wrote above, it's extremely unlikely that a three-year-old battery will be replaced for free, AppleCare or no.

My left arrow does not work on my macbook pro(model A1226).
I have reset nvram, performed a safe boot, pulled the cache to desktop, replaced .globalpreference.plist, & tested all other keys with "keyboard viewer" (all other keys work except for the arrow).
In addition, I have gone thru all the recommended checks with universal access and have booted from snow leopard dvd and the left arrow still does not work.
I have tried using the left arrow key in all of applications I use such as: excel, ms word, address book, calendar, iphoto, terminal, & highlighting an icon and using the arrows to move to another selected icon.
Here is the kicker! In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?
thanks and regards
vats3I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.

Mid-2010 MacBook Pro, Model A1278
I am having 2 issues:
- Lagging when opening applications
The dock animations are lagged. Occasionally I will get a lag if I open both Firefox and Safari. My cursor will lag but I won't get a "beach ball/pinwheel."
- Brightness of screen will change on it's own
The brightness of my screen will change on it's own-- I have yet to relate it to anything I am doing. This happens when I am running on battery and when I am using the power cord. I haven't found any solutions on this forum.
Here are my specs from the system profiler:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP71.0039.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.62f6
Hardware UUID: 230F65B5-494B-568C-9DD5-4270A1B05964
Sudden Motion Sensor:

System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.4 (10F569)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.4.0
Boot Volume: Macintosh HD
Boot Mode: Normal
Secure Virtual Memory: Enabled
64-bit Kernel and Extensions: No
Time since boot: 38 minutesAlright, I have gone in to the Genius Bar TWICE now. The first time, they blamed it on the RAM and replaced it. Then they blamed it on my case so I took it off. The second time, they couldn't find anything wrong with it so they told me to re-install Snow Leopard.
I had to call Apple to get a replacement disk to re-install my OS, HOWEVER, I can't do it. I want to throw my macbook against the wall at this point. Can anybody help me by looking at the attached screenshot?
I don't understand how I can go from my iBook (which is still kicking and running just fine) to this Macbook Pro that is more trouble than not.

Help please, my macbook pro model A 1226 doesn't boot up, i hear the optical drive sound starting but no screen light or booting sound, ive'd tried all redet commands, and safe mode but no luck, can anyone give me an solution to my problem. Tnx
It looks as if there's a problem with your GPU. With a Retina machine, that would mean replacement of just about everything, except, perhaps, the flash storage drive.
Print you kernel panic when you go to your Apple Store appointment. I'm betting that it's a faulty GPU but they will be able to diagnose exactly where the problem lies.
Good luck,

I would like to upgrade my Macbook Pro Model A1278.
Hi,
I would like to upgrade RAM and hard drive memory on my Macbook Pro Model A1278, but I'm not sure what is the maximum RAM I can install and what is the maximum hard drive memory I can install if its even doable. Also, which are the parts I should buy to upgrade the RAM and hard drive memory (if its doable).
Currently my macbook runs a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor; 3 MB shared level 2 cache, 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 160GB 5400-rpm hard drive, its a 13'' laptop, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory, it currently has MAC OS X version 10.6.8.
Thanks for the help in advance!Maximum Memory
8.0 GB
Memory Slots
2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
The largest hard drive you can install is a 1.5 TB drive from Hitachi (HGST.)
You can find memory at OWC, DataMem, or Crucial.com. OWC also sells suitable hard drives, toolkits, and online tutorials.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive. Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure. You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume. Click on the Restart button. You should boot from the new drive. Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer. -
Macbook pro 2010's battery is not charging.
hello, so for a while now the battery status was showing 'repalce soon' message so i wasnt to surprised that last week the battery jsut wouldnt charge, the power source was plugged in but it said not charging still. so i bought a new battery, only just chaned it but it still isnt chatging. the charge is 80 % but not charging still i did the system power management reset or whatever that i found in another forum but it didtn work. the is not light on the magsafe adapter not amber nor green.

My macbook pro has service battery, what could happen if i upgrade the ram to 8gb
My macbook pro has service battery, what could happen if i upgrade the ram to 8gb
"Service Battery" means just that - you need to make an appointment with your local Apple Store or AASP and have the battery checked out and, likely, replaced.
If you upgrade to 8GB it will have no effect on the battery. 8GB is sort of the minimum that I would shoot for.

MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically
MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically
9 months 94 cycles and its health is now at 89%Does the system still run off the battery only? Does it run for a few hours off the battery only? Then No it is not defective and no Apple will do nothing for you and No Applecare does not cover Consumable items which the battery is one of those.
The only time Apple MAY, and that is BIG MAY, replace the battery is within the first year and only if Apple Deems the battery to be defective. Fat chance of that as long as the system runs off the battery for any length of time. -

Macbook pro (model number a1226) no power
I have a Macbook Pro (model number A1226) - the computer has been working perfectly. However, I let the battery drain and since then, the laptop will not power up. I have tried everything:
Using two different power cords
Plugging the power cord(s) into different outlets - even in different rooms
Pressing CTRL + Command + Power
Pressing Option + Command + Power
Taking out the battery, unplugging the mag power cord, pressing the Power Button for 10 seconds... plugging back in mag power cord... trying to start it.
Nothing on all of the above. Someone please help. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the computer and it has not moved an inch since the power went out!
I appreciate it.

There has been no storms here. So we're safe there.
Something new has happened though - the power indicator has now changed to amber and the battery pack that you can remove is now flashing green (there are 5 indicator lights on the battery and the first one is now flashing).
Is that a good sign?
That is a very good sign. It means the battery is charging, and I suspect at this point you should be able to boot the MBP (leave it plugged in until the amber turns green). -
What is the correct part number for dvi to vga adapter for macbook pro model A1260
Can someone tell me the Apple part number for the DVI to VGA adapter that came with a Macbook Pro model A1260? (Early 2008)
My adapter has reached the end of useful life.
Thanks!You have a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2009 (MacBook Pro 4,1)
The Mac's port is a Dual-link DVI (VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)
The DVI connector connects to the Dual link-DVI port, thus you need a DVI to VGA adapter.

You also can search the Apple store online for the part, but it's so basic and simple that paying more for Apple's version is just for looks. -
Macbook pro mid 2011 battery lasting only 3 hours
How can I get my brand new Macbook pro mid 2011 battery to last longer, now it's lasting only 3 hours.
Do not believe the advertised specs from any manufacturer regarding battery life. In the real world expect about 60% to 70% of those figures. Battery life is influenced by many factors, Among these are display brightness, the number and type of applications you are running, if the optical drive is used, external devices that may be attached etc.
3 hours seems a bit low but not necessarily out of line. Go to SYSTEM PROFILER>POWER and see what it says by 'Condition'. If it is other than 'normal' you may have battery issues (Explanations then can be found in FINDER>HELP).
